Perfect New York Hotel
10 / 10
May 2011, Mancunian Traveller

We loved this Hotel. My friend and I visited New York for the first time and booked this Hotel for its location. We have found our favourite Hotel! It was fabulous. Everything about it was grand. Large rooms, incredible bathroom - both a seoarate glass and granite shower and a large bath. It was heaven. Our beds were wonderful, two twin beds, large, confortable and so soft with feather pillows and the rooms had slippers and bathrobes, hairdryer and iron. The room was large with plenty of space and was so quiet. The concierge and reception were especially helpful, with maps and tips on how to get about. The bathroom had candles in and the fresh flower display in the reception was wonderful. We can't say enough about this place. We thought the room rate was really good. We were just a few blocks from subways and 5th Avenue, musicals and Times Square, all within easy walking distance, and steps away from great diners and bars. We loved this place and would highly recommend you visit it.

We stayed for two nights this past...

We stayed for two nights this past weekend and found the hotel to meet our expectations.
For NYC standards, the room was a decent size. The Midtown location is pretty convenient and just outside of Times Square.
The best part of our stay was the ultra comfortable bed - we slept great.

We've been to New York before but...

We've been to New York before but this was the first time we'd stayed so close to Times Square. We thought this might make things noisy but this wasn't an issue for our room at all.
The hotel has a luxurious feel to it, with very smart looking staff that were also very helpful.
The room was spacious for a New York hotel and everything was modern and clean. It felt like quite a treat being in this hotel but this was reflected in the price.
We had room only and didn't eat in the hotel, as it seemed quite pricey plus there are loads of places to eat in New York so wasn't short of choice!
A good tip for breakfast or in fact for a quick snack/ meal at any time of the day is The Red Flame which is just a couple of doors down from the hotel. It's a diner with a good range of food at a good price.

We stayed at the Sofitel in Feb 2006....

We stayed at the Sofitel in Feb 2006. The staff were friendly, the bed very comfortable, and the hotel very clean.
It was in a good location - very close to Times Square & 5th Avenue. On our first night we weren't very oriented and totally stumbled upon Times Square - that's how close it is. Having said that, being on a side street it is very quiet.
As with a lot of hotel in NY there isn't a fantastic view out of the window but to be honest we were only there for the time we were sleeping so it didn't matter. If you want good view go to The Rock or Empire State.
We ate breakfast at the diner just down the street (Red something) and the food was OK but I'm sure there are better.
All in all, a good experience (if not very cold - make sure you wrap up VERY warm, Feb in NY is MUCH MUCH colder than Feb in the UK). I would stay here again and indeed am already looking at booking for April 2008.

We stayed at the Sofitel New York in...

We stayed at the Sofitel New York in January of this year. I have stayed in many hotels over the last twenty years, all of which were 4 or 5 star, but this hotel was the best I have ever stayed in.
The location was excellent a few minutes from Times square, Rockefeller centre, grand central to name a few. The staff were so helpful and polite.
The rooms were absolutely gorgeous, all with large marble bathroom with shower and separate bath. Robes and slippers for your stay and turn down service on an evening. The hotel was spotless with large reception / lounge area with internet access.
If visiting New York this hotel is a must and you must try the Red flame diner just doors away for breakfast to make this you perfect stay. Will be booking this hotel again and won’t even look around at others. Love it, Love it, Love it!
