" Oceanis Hotel - Ixia "
Submitted By: eschofieldAt first we didn't know what to expect as Ixia is a quiet resort compared to the likes of Faliraki, and if a 'party' holiday is what your looking for then dont go. However, to relax and have a steady drink in the evening it is perfect.
After reading some reviews we were a little worried of what to expect but thought, oh well, its not cost us a lot...let me tell you i will be going back to the Oceanis in the near future and will be more than happy paying.
The food was excellent, even my friend who is strictly an egg, chips and beans gal enjoyed the food everyday!!
The animation team work very hard throughout the day and night. I am not the sort of person to join in activities in the day. A holiday to me is by the pool or beach with a book! However, the team were NOT pushy at all, all it took was a simple no thanks and away they went with a smile. The hotel song....hmmm annoyingly funny at first but let me say by the end of the week i was on the dance floor joining in and knowing the moves.
The bar staff were fantastic too. Two bars one inside and out offering all local sprits, soft drinks, tea and coffee. Two beer pumps to help yourself. Although the all inclusive finished at 2300 the staff were more than happy to give you as many drinks as you wanted towards closing time, something that other all inc holidays i have been on do not do, and the inside bar stayed open, but you were charged after 2300.
I would recommend this holiday to anyone, i had a fantasic, relaxing weeks holiday.
Advice: Although a quiet, small place, Rhodes Town and Faliraki are not that far.
Activities:
" Good Food could do better "
Submitted By: ermintrudePool areas are very cramped right next to main road and the tennis court rather squalid table table net collapsed every other minute. Never mind here comes some more food.
Nice cooling breeze from sea, met people from Faliraki who were very hot all week. Bit warm never mind there is plenty of ice cream on offer.
Buses to Rhodes town from right outside hotel, but crossing road not easy. Only diet drink was rather weak coke, though coffee nice especially with ice cream.
They leave passports on show behind reception desk.
Rooms and particularly corridors and outside need some attention. They could do with extending the sunbathing areas over the top of the restaurant and car park.
Advice: Nice cooling breeze good bus to Rhodes Town
Activities: Food in hotel great no eating anywhere else
Good for: Beach
" Are you Kidding me ! "
Submitted By: stuartmarriottThere are clearly some idiots on here who think that paying £250 a person should entitle them to a personal butler and to be served the finest champagne accompanied by lobster dinners and caviar .... get real !
Now lets clear up some things about this place, first of all im sure you WILL read on practically every review site that you will want a room on the top floor with a sea view (the other view is of the side of a hill/rock face) , I emailed them in advance and requested one and was told it was a first come first served basis, i told them it was for my honeymoon and again they refused to book the room, however ! , I was told there is an extra 10Euro per day charge for this type of room, i told them thats fine and got them to reserve the room with the promise of paying them cash on my arrival, which when i got there to my surprise they actually had done ! so i paid up and went upto my room, which was basic but modern and very clean, the view was simply stunning, was the 5th floor up overlooking the pool and the sea ..... was amazing waking upto that every day.
10euro a day sounds a lot but worth it .... why should you have to pay extra you say !! , well because it not fair on someone who gets a ground floor room looking at rocks is it.
The hotel it's self is pretty big and there is a shop in it that sells basic things you might need - news papers/food/drinks ...
The bar is pretty good and they have most stuff, however they could maybe take on a couple more bar staff, there is a beer pump inside and also outside for you help yourself, my first pint was a shocker and amused some old german fella, but by the end of the holiday i was pulling them like a pro !
Food - now my misses says Im a fussy eater and she was amazed that i tried lots of food a actually enjoyed all of it ! , i wouldn't say its 'top notch' but i also would put it higher up than canteen grade, there was about 5 huge tables which were constantly being stocked up with greek salads and meats and local dishes.
I don't believe a word the poster before me put about the staff being rude and snatching cutlery out of his wife hands, the guys there were to say the least extremely helpful, our first night two of waiters helped and elderly guest to his seat and then went and got his food and drink for him and made sure he Ok, they did this every night, i found them really friendly and were happy to take photos for the guest who wanted their photos done.
The pool - hmmm , now i guess this happens all over the world and i absolutely detest doing it BUT if you really wanted a good sunbed then you have no choice but to get up a 7am and leg it out there and put towels down, trust me when i say EVERYONE does it there.
The entertainers ......... QUALITY, its basically 3 young people (2 girls and a guy) they do a great job keeping everyone amused round the pool, they speak about 10 languages !
and they do the evening stuff as well.
The beach is across a very busy road , but if you walk to the hotel next door they have an underpass, (1 min walk).
Its basically a stone beach and thats about all i can say ....
The Area - pretty nice really, lots of food places and bars along the road, we had a night out in a fish place just down the road, was fantastic in there.
If im really honest then i would say this place is a 3*, i was a little bit worried about going there after reading some of the posts on here but i can 100% say i would go back as we really did have a good time, and at the end of the day, 'Its what YOU make it' !
" 4* Hotel in Ixia!!!! "
Submitted By: mncoe97Be Warned:
It is no way a 4* Hotel and the food is most days awful - you will need to take extra money to eat out. The rooms look nothing like the brochure, we had to move due to state of room - I have spent time in 1/ 2* B&B's in Blackpool that put the rooms to shame. We met people there and went into their rooms and they were all in need of decorating, cleaning and the carpets looked like they had bleach spots all over them.
If you are around 5' - 5'5" you will fit in the bathroom, They are not designed for anyone over this height. I am 6'4" so struggle in most places but this was a joke.
Our Olympic Rep was actually telling people it was a bad hotel and that Rhodes was a terrible place to be..... Don't travel with Olympic or if you do don't be surprised if you arrive at the welcome meeting and the rep is not there and you don't get to see her until you leave. Every other rep from Thomson, First Choice etc came to see us and they let us know what we needed to.
We found that there were some really freindly greek members of staff and can count them on one hand, the rest unfortunately were rude, arrogant and made you feel like you were an inconvenience.
Every picture i have seen for this Hotel depicts a beautiful location with a lovely pool. When you get there you are quickly surprised to find that the pool is actually engulfed with the most sunbeds i have ever seen. Every spot of free space was taken up by a sunbed, which is great because more people can get to use it but you felt like you were touching the people next to you.
The rules surrounding the All Inclusive side of things are stricter than anywhere i have ever been. You were literally thrown out of the breakfast room at 9.30am by the staff (even though it would not be used until that evening). My wife had the food utensils taken out of her hand whilst she was actually selecting her lunch because we arrived at 2.30pm for our lunch and it closed at 2.30pm. Absolutely insane behaviour from anyone and reception did not care one bit. You could not get multiple drinks just before 11pm as the all inclusive drinks finished then - to make you buy more afterwards from the bar. The lights were turned off and we were asked not to talk outside after 11.30...... it continued on and on.
The only thing i would say about the Hotel is that it employed one of the funniest and most professional entertainers i have ever met. His name was Matt and he was from Tunisia and if he would not have been there the hotel would have had so many complaints and also probably had around 50 or more people leave the Hotel.
Please think twice about what you are after from your holiday but know that this hotel will unfortunately cost you more as you will have to eat out most nights, you will not want to stay in the hotel so trips will be frequent. Ixia has so much to offer so enjoy the area and the people are most welcoming.
A very dissapointed customer who sincerely hopes that you do not waste your hard earned money on this Hotel.

Submitted By: Mr X ThomasFood, i thought was lush. But others i suspect tend to disagree, but its just great that you can get there and its full of food, usually pretty hot, and you can have as much as you want. My idea of heaven! Didnt vary too much but theres alot to choose from. The salad and fruit was very fresh!
Pool was beautiful, looks even prettier when your there than it does on the pictures. So much room, never crowded and plenty of sunbeds for everyone. Also the shop in the hotel sells inflatables and lots of different things such as hundreds of different magazines and papers which is handy.
Shops a few minutes down the road which are quite reasonable and sell the things you would tend to forget or break. E.g EU adapter for just over a Euro for example.
Me and the girlfriend had a sea view room on the 3rd floor, out of 5, and it was stunning to say the least. You can even make out the turkish mountains too! Sunsets are wonderfull and Rhodes itself is a very lovely place, cheap taxis etc. Waterpark only 14Euros away from the hotel. One problem is the road infront of the hotel, very busy! Be prepared to wait a few minutes to get to the beach!Mini golf about 2minutes down the road in another hotel. Really entertaining for only about 5euro each. Watersports available opposite for a price!
Would recommend the hotel, we both thoroughly enjoyed our stay as did all the people we met! Would definately return if and when we go back to Rhodes.

Submitted By: Mrs R WatsonThe sae view is great you do pay extre but the rooms are over the disco. The view advertised fron the other side is wooded yes and very close although a little queiter on a night it faces south so is hot. And has noise contamination from the the swimming pool during the day and the next hotel at night.
We spent a lot of our time out of the hotel just trying to find some relaxation. So a place not for the faint hearted perhaps only deaf or pissed.
Food- a fair selection not Greek. Had to go out to find local food (not evern on Greek night, where the music was not even Greek)
We did complaine but their was no interest show at the hotel.
Unfortunatly it coloured our Rhodes experience so we may visit again but will not chose a 5 star hotel in a holiday resort.
Watch out for the RCI people giving away holidays for only 2 hours of you time.

Submitted By: Miss S BrownThe Safety Deposit Boxes are fixed securly to the inside on the wardrobes, these are provided at a charge, this cost us 14euros for 7nights, but we considered it to be a neccesity.
All the staff are extremelly friendly and helpful when you ask for help. The Maids Clean the rooms every day and new towels are provided and clean sheets. All The Faicillites in the room work well, we found the air conditioning to work very well and kept our room extremely cool throughout the day and the night. Also there is a fridge and a telvision. the brochure says that there is a hair dryer provided, this hairdryer is poor, not strong and takes a long time to dry your hair.
The Entertainment in this hotel, is extremely poor, personally we found the childrens mini disco more entertaining than the entertainment aimed at the adults.
The Food in this hotel was excellent most days there was a really good variety, the food was kept warm and replaced often. The dinner and breakfast was the best, and the lunches were good but not as much variety.
The Pool and Sunbeds were excellent, the pool was slightly cold, but during the day it gradually got warmer and was lovely and big, plenty of room for everbody. The sunbeds are arranged so you can spend all day in the sun or half of the day, just makes sure your dont put your towels down till after 8am or your towels wll get taken to reception.
When it came to check out, you have to vacate your room and 12 noon, if you want to keep your room till 6pm it cost 40 euros, till 8pm 50 euros and till departure 70euros. Im our Opinion and extremely high prices. A Courtesy room is provided if you wish not to do this, as we did not. you get 30 mins in this room, you dont have to book slots but wait in reception untill you get called.
Overall, we really enjoyed the holiday and found the hotel generally good and would definatly recomend it.

Submitted By: Miss L MerrimanTaxi to the hotel was 15 euros and there is always plenty outside, they have set tariffs to different parts of the island, all reasonable prices. Or check out this web site for prices and other info http://www.rodos.com we spoke to a couple in the hotel who booked taxi transfers in the UK through the agent and they paid over £100.
On arrival at the hotel the main foyer is modern, large, airy, nice and cool. The reception staff are very friendly and speak good English.
The bar is open until 2am but you have to pay for your drinks as the free bar shuts at 11pm on the dot so the only problem if you’re arriving after 2am is there is nowhere to get a drink as there are no facilities in the room, there is a little kiosk shop just up the road if your desperate though. The downside on the drinks is there isn’t a lot of choice, local beer on a help yourself basis, vodka, rum, brandy, gin, etc. cocktails have to be paid for but aren’t too expensive, on average 3 euros. The room we had was on the 1st floor at the back looking over the children’s play area and the rear pool, the room was basic but clean, the maids came in every day made the beds and left fresh towels. Air con doesn’t start being used until July in the guest rooms so be prepared for hot sticky nights, we used our hair drier on the cool setting and blew it into the fridge when we got really hot, DIY air con, lol The pool area at the front of the hotel is lovely, sun beds are a bit crammed in and as usual its towels at dawn if you want to get close to the pool, be prepared to get up early to stake your claim with your towel if you do, some guests even left there towels on overnight, I’m afraid its got to the stage of ‘if you cant beat em join em’ where ever you go now. There are lots of seating areas around the hotel so always somewhere to sit inside or out, shady or sunny. The pool at the rear of the hotel is a proper sun trap but there is shade too and it’s a lot quieter but you need to be up early for this too. The hotel is clean and tidy, suitable for disabled with ramps and lifts, not a lot for kids to do apart from the pool, a few amusements and the playground round the back but it is a little run down, there weren’t many kids there anyway. There are tennis courts for hotel use, they are round the back. The small pebble beach is over the road, a very busy road too, but the traffic noise didn’t bother us, if you want to go over to the beach and daren’t brave the road use the underpass at the hotel next door on the left. I found the layout of the dining room a bit dangerous though as there are 2 steps running all the way along from the serving area to most of the tables, so watch where you are walking.
The food is ok, like most other all inclusive hotels but there was enough choice and plenty of puddings. The waiters are very efficient and the dining room runs smoothly and there was always somewhere to sit without the handbag reserving!
The hotel staff are very helpful, hardworking and friendly, Yannis the barman is a good source of info and has a wicked sense of humour, he works very hard to keep the queue down but will chat if he has the time. The animations team are a good laugh and keep you entertained with their antics. We went to Rhodes town a couple of times. We did walk there the first time, its hard work in the heat or you could get a taxi, this costs 6 euros. The old part is nice lots of winding alleyways, shops and restaurants; the new town is ok too for shopping. One thing I wasn’t too happy with was the baggage room, this was round the side of the hotel and wasn’t locked so anyone could have walked in but fortunately crime on Rhodes is quite low. All in all it’s a nice Greek owned hotel and we did enjoy our stay here.
