We booked this hotel almost a year prior to our trip and grew increasingly anxious as we continued to read a continually growing amount of bad/negative reviews about the place. We began to wonder whether we should try to change our booking to a hotel with more favourable reviews. However, we decided to stick to our guns and keep an open mind.
Upon arrival we were greeted by the extremely friendly Cezar, who works on reception. He took our luggage to our room and gave us general information about the hotel, which was very helpful. Indeed, we found all of the staff, on reception and throughout the hotel, to be very friendly and helpful throughout our stay.
The food was very good with a more than adequate selection for all tastes. Again, the head waiter and his staff were lovely, especially the older gents who had a great sense of humour and were always willing to help.
I note that people have slated the entertainment team and again, I think it largely depends upon your expectations and experiences drawn from previous holidays. To be fair, Mat worked his socks off and was eager to try to include everyone.
To conclude, don't let negative reviews put you off staying at the Oceanis. My family had a great time there and would definitely return in the future.

Having read reviews prior Aug 07 I was nervous about this hotel and what it had to offer. How I was proved very wrong!
The hotel was fantastic as were the staff from reception to the cleaners to the bar staff to the waitresses and waiters. The hotel was very clean the food superb and the rep Lisa very helpful indeed.
The staff in the dining room could not be faulted and went out of their way to accommodate us if we wanted to eat on the balcony.
The pool area was very clean and the pool itself too. The temperature of the pool was excellent and it was the best we had been to. The cleanliness around the pool was stunning and the pool man rightly took no nonsense from the 'few' youngsters who tried it on!
The only thing that lets this hotel down is the entertainment (animation team) and I use the term 'entertainment' very loosely! We had a sea facing room; unfortunately this was the side where the 'entertainment' entertained!!
You could not get an early night due to the screaming of the Head of animation into the microphone. I agree that the aqua aerobics was hilarious like the previous person that wrote a review I was not only waiting for YMCA but the birdie song because this was how poor the entertainers were!!
I would give this hotel a perfect 10 if they got rid of the entertainers. I would definitely return to this hotel probably with ear muffs for the evening 'entertainment programme' though!
Rhodes Old Town is well worth a visit have fun getting lost and exploring. Lindos beautiful! Enjoy we did very much!!

I have just returned from this hotel in the centre of Ixia and I have to say I agree with the comments of the previous contributor.
It really is a stunning hotel (*sigh of relief that it wasn't the bright orange bomb shelter some other people were dropped off at earlier*), and it delivers the promises made on the website. Some of the comments made by others have been a little churlish to say the least.
The hotel was modern, clean and well staffed. It offered value for money and is only let down by the 'entertainment' (I use the term loosely) which was lugubrious and devoid of any imagination. The water aerobics was a hoot, but I was a little sad to see that YMCA was not included - ah well.
Fortunately, my partner more than made up for these shortcomings and we had a brilliant holiday.
Ignore the bullet pointed moan further down the page - you can't please everyone when working with large numbers of people. Sometimes people often enjoy focusing on the negative - your holiday was what you make it - and we made it!
Go on, book at the Oceanis - and say 'hi' to Zorba from us!

Just came home after a week in Ixia at the Oceanis.
The hotel, on arrival, looked great - especially in comparison to some of the other eyesores that the coach had dropped some other "poor unfortunates" off at on the way there.
The reception was spotlessly clean - as were the rooms, dining facilities, bar areas and poolside areas. We were warmly welcomed by the reception staff who were very amiable and helpful.
The two "gems" we found were the small dining room waiter at the south end of the restaurant - we didn't get to note his real name but he affectionately responded to Zorba. His dryness of humour was hilarious. He always enquired at breakfast as to the main reason for my bedraggled state.
This enquiry was either "Sambuca?" or "Vodka?" After notifying him which was correct he'd shrug his shoulders and walk away. Guy was so dry - he got a tip at the end of our stay.
The other gem was "Big Romanian Chris" who worked the evening shift at the snack bar serving the drinks. Always smiling and always cheerful. At 6"7' or so he was a big lad and happily obliged to have his photo taken next to me whilst I stood on a chair next to him.
The food was edible but occasionally got a little monotonous, with the exceptions of a few good evenings when the pork and the beef were excellent. This standard of food was what we'd have expected from this grade of hotel.
What we didn't expect was to be subjected to the hilarity of watching one particularly obese child gorge himself on what I am still astonished to believe (as I expect would many a scientist) such massive platefuls of, well whatever food had appropriate consistency to be piled the highest.
As we normally find there were numerous Brits there who shared our sense of humour (Hi to Nick, Karen, and Josh!).
The only reason why I wouldn't give the overall rating as a 10 has to be the evening entertainment. I've been on many a holiday when the Animators actually get involved in making your day as fun packed as possible.
This unfortunately wasn't the case here - notably the young girl (who we nicknamed as "Flossie") - she swanned about looking like she didn't want to be there - with the exception of one time when she hilariously borrowed my hat while she was moving a table.
The morning aqua aerobics session was fun to watch though - it was run by the head animator.
Ixia itself was great - prices not too hefty - some very friendly bars (try in particular Velois FBI) and we did dine out - try the oddly named "Jason" restaurant if you like a steak.
All told I'm pleased we went and would definitely suggest any readers look at the positives on this review site for this hotel.
Finally - last and certainly not least - the swimming pool was superb - well designed, clean and exactly the right temperature to keep cool but not too cold.
If you're thinking of going - do it - you'll enjoy it.

Having read the report added to this site in June, who gives the hotel a rating of 1/10, we travelled to the Oceanis 11.7.07, for 2 weeks all inclusive, with some trepidation. 'We' were a party of 2 aged 50-60 and 2 17year olds.
The hotel public rooms and reception areas are large, airy and cleaned to a high standard.
The bedrooms we had were not sea-facing but we hadn't travelled there to sit in a bedroom. The rooms were well equipped with ample storage space and hangers. I agree there was no iron but I suspect you may have been able to loan one from reception. The bathroom was well laid out and the towels and bed linen were changed regularly.
The pool is beautiful and was spotless thanks to the continuous hard work of the attendant (goodness knows when this man sleeps!). The only thing that bothered me around the pool was that older children were allowed by their parents to jump from the 'waterfall' arrangement into the pool.
The pool is not deep enough for this and I spent the time worried sick that someone was going to be seriously injured. There are warning signs and the attendant tried to stop it, but I guess it's only a matter of time... Sad thing to report is that I only saw British kids do it!
The bars were well stocked and, although a queue sometimes formed, we rarely waited long to be served.
The food was excellent, faultless in both variety and quality. I did hear the odd moan about there being 'too much Greek food' but what do people expect - they are in Greece after all!
It spoke volumes the day that we witnessed the hotel owner with his family and guests come to lunch, serve themselves, and eat the same food as the hotel guests.
On the whole the staff were attentive and extremely pleasant, in particular the head waiter and head barman. To all those who commented on the cleaners barging into the rooms at 9.30 - these staff worked from very early morning, have to start somewhere and I'm sure we would all have plenty to say if they hadn't have done their jobs!
I agree that the beach isn't up to much but all the brochures we had seen and the guide book had all prepared us for a pebble/shingle beach.
Rhodes is really easy to get round in taxies, on the buses and by boat. We travelled on all of these but drew the line at putting the poor donkeys to work in Lindos.
Ixia is well placed to get to Rhodes town and from there onto anywhere else on the island.
There is lots to see for those who enjoy the sights (particularly historical) and our lads managed to see the nightlife in Rhodes Town and Faliraki on several occasions.
Thanks to all at the Oceanis we had an absolutely fantastic time, would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel, and can't wait to go back.

What a fantastic hotel we went to Greece to get married in 2006 and could not have picked a better hotel. The staff were fantastic the hotel was fantastic and we will be going back to this hotel for years to come and as for the comments of people saying that the barman yanis was grumpy, I think I would be if after every ten minutes the all inclusive brigade come marching in and think they have a right to jump to the front of the bar because they are all inclusive.
I don’t think so and because they are all inclusive. They are very rude to the bar staff overall what a fantastic place to for a holiday I wont be going anywhere else for a while your holiday is what you make it and treat other people as you would expect to be treated.

The location is OK but the beach was really choppy, no good for snorkelling in. Went to Rhodes old town and enjoyed it.
Also went on a boat trip to Chremasti and had a lovely evening there!
The hotel was alright, the staff were nice, the rooms were basic and clean, and the pool was excellent for small and big kids, very safe.
My main gripe was the food. Breakfast and dinner in the restaurant were good, but lunch down the stairs was like a school canteen, total rabble every day with jokers trying to push in all the time.
Also the snacks were rotten; you also have to pay for rolls through the day. Variety of snacks very limited and horrible.
I would only recommend this hotel if you get a cheap deal (4 - 600 per person).
Ixia is a nice place though.

Having just read some of the comments on this hotel just wanted to add my thoughts.
We stayed here in April for one week our tour operator was brilliant the flight time’s perfect, morning flight there, afternoon flight home.
The hotel is fantastic and the staff were nothing but polite and helpful. Especially the bedroom cleaners who do clean the rooms every day.
The pool is great but very cold and the activities are box standard, but if like us you join in and have a go it can be a laugh.
Entertainment is as you would expect but acceptable, we go out most nights for an hour for change of scenery. Again the food is what you expect for all inclusive but was very nice.
Rhodes town is very nice and well worth the visit, wear comfortable shoes for the cobbled streets! We never go to the beach so can't comment. I would recommend this hotel and tour operator, we got a really good deal.
In fact I am just booking now to go back in August!

After arriving in Rhodes at 6.30am I was very tired, as we were dropping the rest of the coach load off in Rhodes I was getting very apprehensive about our hotel, as the others looked very run down.
When we arrived at our destination I was very surprised, the hotel was beautiful and the pool hit me straight away with its lighting and beautiful layout.
The hotel room was basic, and there were no tea or coffee facilities, but that didn’t matter as we would only be using this to sleep and shower, and tea and coffee was available through the day by the pool.
We had a beautiful sea and pool view room which really made up for us missing the tea and coffee facilities!
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool was clean and there were plenty of sunloungers for everyone.
The beach opposite was pebbly, so we didn’t spend a lot of time there, however watersports activities were available to take part in here.
The Lindos trip, (that you can book with Manos Going a few meters down the road) is a definite must, this part of the island is beautiful and you can visit the acropolis where students go free. We also swam with fish, and the boat anchors up half way back to Rhodes Town so that you can jump off the boat, was an excellent day for only 23euros!
Ixia has a very good bus and taxi service and it is easy to go wherever around the Island at a reasonable price. The taxi drivers are very friendly and like to chat as well.
The shopkeepers are very nice, and always like to give you a bargain.
The food at the hotel was very nice, and there was the option of a few different meats, some pastas, and some vegetarian dishes every day, with the Greek salad, and soup also available, the deserts were also very good. The drinks available were drinkable, although the soft drinks could have been a little better.
All in all, this hotel is beautiful, and I had an amazing holiday. I would definitely go back again!

Have just returned from a 2 week holiday at the Oceanis. Having read some reviews before our holiday I was somewhat apprehensive.
However, we went with an open mind and decided that if it was as bad as some had said then we would move. However, we all need to remember what we paid in the first place. And as far as we were concerned, we were getting a better deal than if we had booked bed and breakfast in an alternative hotel.
On arrival at the hotel we were met by friendly staff who remained so throughout the stay. We were a little disappointed to find that there were no tea/coffee facilities in room, but not really a huge problem because we took cups of coffee with us back to our room without any issues.
The bedrooms were quite basic but were cleaned daily, had a fridge, mosquito plug provided, air conditioning without charge. Shower gel, soap and even a sewing kit available. Towels and sheets changed every day.
For us it was an ideal place to use as a base and it is easy enough to hire a car get a bus or taxi to where you want to explore.
The food was of an okay standard and although we like to eat out we did not eat out as much as we thought we would. We only said on one occasion that we thought the food quality was particularly poor.
The pool area was very busy but we always managed to get a sunbed if we wanted one. Could use with a few more beds though.. But isn't that the same everywhere??
Entertainment was of a poor standard, but that did not bother us because we were out in the evenings anyway.
For us we had an enjoyable experience in Rhodes, the weather was fantastic. And yes we were there when it was 45 degrees, the Greek people are as lovely as ever. And overall a memorable holiday.
For those of you about to spend your holiday at the Oceanis, read the reviews but keep an open mind, because we all perceive things differently.. Our experience was a good one. I firmly believe we get what we pay for. And this was good value for money.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

I and my partner went to Greece to attend a wedding; we have been to Greece before but stayed in Zante which was fantastic and so pretty.
HOTEL: The hotel was nice and presentable, always clean and tidy and the cleaners are really helpful and nice.
FOOD: There wasn't much choice of different foods and if you’re vegetarian there are only two dishes. Also if you don't like egg there’s a bit of a problem because they have boiled, scrambled, fried every day and ever so often bacon.
The cook always done lovely food he's at the bottom part of the restaurant. The desserts are horrid, everyone is different.
At dinner it seemed like we were eating the same things but although the selection wasn't very good, it was lovely and tasty what was there.
ENTERTAINMENT: This was quite disappointing, don’t get me wrong the animation team were so friendly, but it was the same thing every single day we did participate in some of the activities but it did get quite boring after a week.
Wasn’t impressed when they had a playboy evening in a family hotel, especially when a few Belgians took it too far and decided to flash and run around the hotel completely naked.
The pool was fantastic, and if you’re in the front of the hotel you will have a lovely view of the sea, we were at the back but you could see a mountain, but it was all lit up lovely in the night.
There's not much night life and Faliraki was really quiet which I couldn’t believe, Rhodes town was beautiful, you have to visit the castle!
Kallithea beach is small but lovely great for going snorkelling, loads of fish. If you’re planning on going on any trips go on the one that stops off at 3 beaches and you can jump off the boat and it's a lovely day out!
It was a nice holiday overall but just needs some improvements.
I don't think I will be returning to stay in the Oceanis maybe somewhere else though, I hope anyone who does go on holiday here has a great time.

The hotel was brilliant. The food was great, there was something for everyone. The entertainment was good, there was something happening most nights.
The entertainment team always had something on that you could do if you didn't feel like sunbathing or swimming. The water aerobics were great, it was hilarious to watch and join in.
At night the pool was beautiful. I have been to this hotel once before and on both occasions it was great. I would strongly recommend this hotel the restaurant, pool and the rooms were all kept extremely clean and tidy.
This was a great hotel I will probably go again.
