We had never been to Egypt before and when we booked our cruise and stay with the company named they booked us into the said hotel with no alternative but they highly reccommended it. We took their word for it and were shocked to find the condition of this hotel was awful, dirty and the food was extreemly poor. They showed is 5 rooms before we would accept one that was quiet and clean enough to stay in[although the manager as a goodwill gesture gave us a clean room with a nile view, but I add did not charge us for it,which we were grateful for] During the week we were there most of the lounge areas were being decorated and there were ladders dust and paint all over the place. We ate out several times as the food was so bad.Ihave received a letter from the travel company and they have said that it was us that chose to stay in this hotel, and we object to that statement as they booked it for us and it was their recommendation as we didnt know anything about hotels in this counrty. In the letter they said they have sent 1100 people there and have only had a handful of complaints.this is one handful too many in my opinion ,as there are different forms of board basis eg.AI <HB<BB you would have to stay on either HB or AI. to realise just how poor the food was. I stated in the initial complaint that in our opinion it is not a 5* and this was agreed by the rep from youtravel[who supplied the accommodation] at a meeting we had at 1pm on Monday 11th february.I am not complaining for complainings sake ,and I am not asking for compensation, the British Public need to know the standard of this hotel and need to be aware that taking travel companies at their word can be rather risky as we unfortunately have come unstuck this time.

Service could not be faulted, however this in no way can be classified as a 5* hotel.
The room was very tired, and sadly very noisy.
Breakfast was very good, but can cater for 650 guests, if you want to eat in peace you have to go to breakfast early.
Pool area and pool staff, excellent.
The Italian bistro within the hotel was very good.
We would go again, however upgrade to a better room, overlooking the Nile.
The hotel was spotless, staff fantastic, tip early and you will be positively spoilt with attention.

I can not believe some off the comments I have read in this site. This hotel is wonderfull and the staff is extreamly helpfull. We stayed in a suite overlooking the Nile. It was spacious (2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a living area ), spotless and the towels changed daily. The pool is amazing and you get a choice of 2. The pool and bar staff are constantly on the go and will happily bring drinks to you promptly. The food might not be very adventurous but is defentely varied. As a mother I was a little concerned that the children would find most of the food to spicy but it was lovely to see that there is always something there for them as well (look out for the nice chef that will cook your bolognese while you wait or cooks crepes with any filling of your choice for breakfast . For a nice quite drink go to Egyptian tent (just behind the chinese). There is a vey warm atmosphear in this hotel and we will be going back this year again. In any case when you go to Luxor you spend most of your time out and it is quite sad that some people go to such a magic place and spend their time "cheking out other hotels" instead of seeing the sites. THIS IS A DIFERENT CULTURE!! Maybe the way to judge it is by visiting a normal house of a middle class egiptian. we did and this people lead a very simple existence. compared to their normal way off living the Pyramisa is palace. I recommend this hotel without reservation, maybe it is not luxurious but what you get for your money exceeds your expectations.
PS: the thing about thieves is just ridiculous. At the end off our holiday as I did not have eneough space to bring all my souvenirs I decided to give our room attendant a lot of clothes and shoes for his family. To do this i had to write a note and sign and take it to the manager so that he would be aloud to take the things out of the hotel. You see all member of staff check in their belongings when they start their shift and check them out when they leave.

We loved this holiday!
The people at the hotel are all great, very friendly. The food is ok, the Italian and Chinese are best, also breakfast is very good. We ate out some evening and found some lovely places.
We were very pleased with our choice of B&B after seeing the evening buffet!
The views from the room were amazing, looked across the Nile to the west bank. Definitely worth the extra for the view!
This was one of the best holidays I have been on! Loved it!

The Pyramisa was ideal for what we paid. My three sons absolutely loved it.
The food was ok the boys all ate well and weren't ill and there was plenty on offer. we had half board I don't drink and I didn't pay much at the end of the holiday for drinks but most families were all inclusive....helped my wallet too as the friends my boys made bought them drinks within their all inclusive deals!
Luxor is fantastic the view of the Nile from our room took our breath away. We did the balloon flight which was well worth it, would advise going to the front desk though to find other operators than the one based at the hotel lobby. However saying that our balloon pilot I think was the best of the lot.
I was taken ill during the holiday and needed a doctor. The hotel was great at organising it and the front desk manager Saif couldn't have been more helpful. I ended up in Luxor hospital for two days on drips and in the salubrious private wing! An experience to say the least everyone there were lovely and did all they could.
Also book a visit with a local cab firm for the valley of the kings. I booked with the one who collected us from the airport, for about 30 pounds we had our own guide and the taxi for the morning so that we could do what we wanted.
The Pyramisa is a bit rough around the edges if you look hard. But it was still impressive and good value I wouldn't hesitate to go and stay there again.

Having read some of the reviews of this hotel prior to departure we were a little apprehensive, however enjoyed a wonderful holiday, and would advise anyone not to be put off.
Now the hotel is not 5 star but that is more than made up for by the friendly staff and management who cannot do enough to help.
The room we had after changing to one facing the Nile was spotless with bedding and towels changed daily.
Food at the hotel was fair with the option to eat at the resident Chinese and Italian restaurants at little extra cost. Hassle on the streets outside was the worst we have ever had on holiday.
However the shops on the hotel complex were fairly priced and the range of goods were equal to any outside.
Bell captain Mr.Eladawy was most helpful, he gave us photographs of his family, and we shall be sending him some of our family-a really nice man.
Ladies must try the massage. The young man was a shock for this grandmother but cured my bad back and helped me to cope with all the walking for the rest of my holiday...

Just returned from Luxor having had a fantastic time and glorious weather. This was my 5th time to Egypt and would highly recommend this wonderful place.
However, if you decide to book a hotel then do not book the Pyramisa Isis. I booked through Travel Republic 3 days before travelling and looking through the hotel pictures on various web sites it looked fantastic.
On my arrival I was shown to a room that was on the 6th floor. To say it was disgusting would be an understatement. The room was dark, dingy, and dirty. (a bit like your worst possible bedsit type flat). I complained and was given an alternative room which was a lot better but still nowhere near 5 star as advertised.
The staff are very helpful and friendly especially on your last day (looking for tips).
Swimming pool nice but all in all the hotel needs a complete overall and revamp. During my stay I visited other hotels on the same road as the Isis and I would recommend both the Nile Palace which is next door and also the Sheraton just a few 100 yards to the right. These hotels are 5 star especially the Nile Palace.
Eating on site is a definite non starter at the Isis as the service is poor and the food choice is very limited apart from being expensive.
I stayed B&B and ate out every night. I would recommend (John & Johns) opposite the Isis based in the Gaddis Hotel - Excellent. I would also recommend the Bombay for an Indian curry (owned by a guy from the UK), he has an Indian chef and the food is superb and cheap.
The location of the hotel is fantastic with the sites around Luxor being better than any imagination.
I will be going to Egypt again next year as it is just so relaxing with nice people, fantastic weather, and lots to see.
Don’t book the Pyramisa Isis as you will be disappointed especially when you wonder next door to the Nile Palace and see what you could have had for the same price. To me the Isis is a glorified Travel Lodge and should be no more than a 3 star at the very least.
Enjoy the atmosphere, along with the weather and the food in the city of Luxor, as it is a great experience. I give the Pyramisa Isis 2 out of 5 and that is being generous.

I researched Pyramisa Isis after booking my holiday and this website left me very concerned. But I am pleased to say my concerns were unfounded. My fiancée and I had spent a week cruising the Nile and then stayed here. Yes the decor is slightly dated and the food becomes a bit repetitive but for what we paid for it we really couldn't complain.
The rooms were spacious, again the decor was a bit dated, but it was always clean and the bathroom was lovely. We found some of the staff to be a bit unhelpful but overall they were all very nice. I think what you have to bear in mind is that Egypt is a completely different culture and there five star isn't up to our British 5star standard, I would say go expecting a British 3star standard.
I would recommend going with an open mind and please consider how different the Egyptian way of life is- as for the gentleman who also went in July 2007 I have no idea what he means about stealing and police- we never saw any of this so please don't let it put you off. The Egyptian people are some of the friendliest on earth (perhaps slightly over friendly and pushy sometimes but once you get used to it its fine!) and don't let any of this put you off going to a fabulous country, lets face it who goes to Egypt to sit in there hotel when there is so much to see!!!!

What a joke 5 * I dont think so neither do my family. The fact that the president of egypt is ralated to the owners begs a lot of questions.
The overall quality and service are almost non existent. Don't expect quality food. Look out for the food thats been standing around for hours. Uncovered riddled with flies and flies eggs
Keep every thing locked up. Stealing is rife and police take staff away regularly.
We ate out every day at least once.
Do yourselfs a favour - Don't go!
You will not be happy and it will spoil your holiday.

First visit to Egypt found it a bit of a culture shock initially, but grew to love every minute of it.
The staff were so friendly especially if you slipped them Le20 every now and then. The hotel was lovely, we had the junior suite overlooking the Nile (what a view).
The food was ok not too much choice for the kids but we just ate in the Italian or Chinese on a night (cost less than Le50) extra for 5 of us.
You can get all the trips cheaper than the reps just venture outside, just hard to find someone you can trust. We just haggled a price for everything even with the reps.

We spent a fantastic week in Luxor, it was my third time in Egypt and as always the weather was glorious.
I stayed at the same hotel as I had in the past, when entering the hotel off the street of Luxor you feel as if you've entered paradise, its marble from floor to ceiling and the garden's and swimming area are beautiful and clean.
The staff at the hotel are friendly and can't do enough for you. I highly recommend this hotel if you are travelling to Luxor.
The people of Luxor were really friendly, but they do tend to hassle you quite a bit, if you just walk on and say no in a stern voice then they get the message and walk away.
If you let it get to you it can tend to spoil your holiday a bit, but if you get into the banter they throw at you then I found it can be a bit of fun (after all this is their way of life).
If you want to visit the Valley of the Kings or go on a hot air balloon ride then I advise you to stay away from the tour reps as they are really expensive. We booked to go to Valley of the Kings with them last year and it cost us around £40, this year we did it all ourselves ant it cost us£8!
We met a man called Mohammed who has a water taxi called blue peter across the road to Luxor temple he booked everything for us, he arranged everything for the balloon ride which cost us £35 the travel reps charge you around £130!
He also arranged a camel ride over at the west bank which is well worth going on and it only cost us£4.
Now a word of warning, we met a caleeshe driver (horse and carriage). For the first day it was great going with him to see how the locals live, but he takes you to expensive shops where he gets 50% commission on whatever you spend, and they overcharge big time. When he saw us going to a shop next door to the Isis he went in and threatened the owner for taking away his tourists!
After we had got rid of this man the holiday couldn't have been better, don't tarnish all the locals with the same brush as these people are fantastic.
I will definitely be going back again next year as it's the best place I’ve been to and I have travelled to over 40 different countries around the world.

On arriving at the Hotel it was night and the view from our room was Superb! We had a nile room on the upper floor. The room its self was nice. Not what you would usually expect from a 5* hotel but pristinely clean and very livable! The staff were very friendly couldnt do enough to help you. The only thing I had to complain about was the fact that is was about 45/48 degrees during the day! I dont think I have ever consumed as much water as I did there in a week. The building work that most people have mentioned is basically finished and the work starts about 10am and finishes about 6pm. It is not noisey and doesnt interfere with either pool or any services. The pools are lovely and cold - to the point that I could have just stayed in them all day and the Ice Cream was delicious! The only thing I found a bit confusing was what is and isn't included in the All Inclusive. Non alcoholic cocktails are alcoholic ones are not. if you order a nonalcoholic one just order your Vodka / Gin etc seperately.
The food initially seem to be all the same. However when you actually look at the dishes, you have a Beef, Veg, Potatoes, Chicken and Pasta that are completely different every night. The create your own pasta was brill too!
Would defo go back again and for two weeks next time!
