We fell in love with San Diego, and this hotel. We had a marina view suite which was very clean, very spacious and a great base from which to explore this fantastic city.
San Diego is very clean, very safe, and very quiet. Lots to do for the children - San Diego Zoo, Sea World, and it was so interesting being so close to an American Naval base watching the jets, helicopters and submarines.
We will definitely return to San Diego, our favourite holiday destination.

We had a twin room on the ground floor near to the pool area, the room was very comfortable and room enough for 2 adults and 3 children.
The hotel and pool were great, tranquil and relaxed. It seemed that the Americans used it for short breaks due to the live concerts in the arena most evenings. Our room was literally 100 yards from the arena - which sounds horrendous but was actually brilliant as we had the opportunity to see and hear acts such as Heart, Smokey Robinson and BB King in the one-week we were there. You couldn’t wish for better evening entertainment. It all finished at a reasonable time in the evening - usually by 10.30. The following week The Corrs and Liza Minelli were appearing!
The hotel was set amongst a marina with hundreds of beautiful yachts. The only thing it really lacked was a beach nearby - we chose to travel to Coronado beach which was nice but as there is a naval base in San Diego we did have a military air display on the beach.
San Diego itself is very nice - we particularly liked the maritime museums on the harbour front. We went on the ship from 'Master and Commander' and others.
We would certainly recommend this hotel to other people if you want tranquillity and relaxation with great staff and great service!

Our second trip to San Diego, and our second stay at Humphreys. We did not even consider staying anywhere else. The position on Shelter Island is perfect. It's an easy 20 min drive downtown and there are plenty of great restaurants nearby.
The views across the bay to downtown are great, particularly at night. The hotel itself is in a Polynesian style. The rooms are large enough and very comfy.
We were there for the concert season this year. Although it’s a bit loud, it was all over by 10pm and we had the benefit of listening to live music for free.
We love this hotel and love San Diego itself.
