When we first arrived the reception staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was in a corner and quite small, with only one chair on the balcony (also small). Once we checked out the bathroom we decided it was time to ask to be moved, also very small! However, they moved us the morning after, without question.

The hotel was clean - the rooms were cleaned daily, by very pleasant staff.

We were disturbed nightly by several hen parties and stag do's, and were even sandwiched between lager louts for one weekend. I complained to the hotel management and they must have had a word with them, as they were a little quieter the night after. The food was lovely, plenty of it and lots of variety - however, we both ended up with upset stomachs at some point during the holiday.

The worst part of the holiday was the 2 hour journey from the airport to the hotel - the coach went everywhich way to get there and it was only 30km. I wouldn't return to the resort, simply because there were far too many people there - and too many children, despite the fact that it was during school term (we have grown up kids, so have past that stage!).

We will be looking for somewhere smaller next time - the 6 floor hotel was too busy for our liking.

Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly reception staff. My first thoughts were how immaculately clean the whole hotel was. The room was adequate but bathroom was very small.

The bar staff looked as if they had lost a fiver and found a penny! They really do need to smile! The evening entertainment was brilliant with something for everyone. Magic shows, disco, the Brazilian dance show was excellent, hysterical when audience members participated.

The entertainment for the children was equally as good (many thanks to Kate and entertainment team xxx)

The food was ok, it consisted of a lot of fish dishes and was usually only luke warm.

Would I go back? Yes I think I would.

This hotel is advertised as 4*, I would rate it as a 3*.

The rooms are adequate, not luxurious but as an all inclusive guest we did not spend much time in it. Food was again adequate, breakfasts were the worst mal, lunches were not bad, neither was the evening meals.

The children’s entertainers were very good, evening entertainment was very similar to other Spanish hotels we had stayed in. One disadvantage was the fact that at 12am, the bars closed completely, it was impossible to even buy a drink, in fact all the lights were turned off.

I would return to this hotel but it was certainly not as described, a 4*star hotel.

I have just booked another holiday at the Royal Beach because I found it very good value for money. I suppose it all depends on what you expect from a holiday.

I was happy that there was always something to eat for myself and my family from 8am till midnight. The bar staff were as friendly to you as you were to them and very hard working. The hotel itself was spotlessly clean, thanks to the hardworking cleaners this time. I like the fact that you can escape to the rooftop Jacuzzi, nice and relaxing up there.

The lovely Fenals beach is only a stone's throw away, or if you fancy a bit more hustle and bustle Lloret is just up the road. Maybe I'm just easily pleased, but give me nice weather, somewhere to go for a dip to cool off and no worries about cooking and washing up or who wants what, just go and help yourself, that’s my idea of a holiday.

Can't wait to go again this summer.

This hotel is supposed to be a 4* I would only rate the food as 3 *. The lunch and dinner were ok but the breakfasts left a lot to be desired. If you are travelling with less able bodied people then the hotel is very accessible. The entertainment team were brilliant with the children, and the evening entertainment was good although a little repetitive.

The bar staff could be quite rude at times especially with all inclusive guests. The rooms are quite basic for a 4 *hotel ,all though the free laundry room was a bonus. There was quite all lot of hen and stag parties when we were there ,and one criticism is that at midnight the hotel closed down completely, there was no where to get drink or sit and chat. We would go back but would advise any one expecting a 4*hotel that they would be disappointed.

The staff were courteous and friendly. The hotel was very clean and beds, towels done daily. The food was all-inclusive and there were only 2 1/2 hrs in the day when you couldn't get food. There was plenty of choice.

The bar staff were friendly I'd recommend the Cuba Libras. The hotel was on the high st but close to the beach and not too noisy. Fanals beach is lovely and quiet. September was quiet but nice. You could also use other hotels in the group and buses were regular.

Never a 4* more a medium 3*. Hotel clean, food was so cold boring same thing in day out.

Entertainment very poor hotel rooms ok but very loud on night time which was no good to me with 2 young children. The system which I found stupid was the drinks 2 only per card no good for family of 4 who would have to leave their kids in order to get a drink.

All in all in my opinion very poor never to return again.

This was a cheap holiday only £650 for 3 of us, so we were not expecting The Ritz. This hotel in our opinion is not worthy of a 4* rating.

The only parts of the hotel, which are pleasant, are the rooms (but of course the beds are rubbish) the Jacuzzi’s on the roof and the swimming pools. Please let us know if anyone has found a Spanish hotel that actually has beds that do not cripple you. If you want a relaxing holiday then do not stay here.

There were lots of children and it was not half term. We have a 4 year old ourselves but found the play area unsafe, he fell from the slide onto concrete covered with bald astro turf. Luckily he was not seriously injured. The other outdoor toys needed repair. If you want to smoke yourself to death, drink yourself stupid, let your kids run riot, watch rubbish entertainment and sing karaoke then this is the place for you.

There is not anywhere to relax other than outside if you do not smoke. We do not subject our child to cigarette smoke so all our evenings were spent away from the Hotel. As previously stated by another holiday reviewer the food is edible, but is mainly processed items like nuggets, burgers, chips etc. There were no fresh vegetables only salad items. No fruit at breakfast. The queues for drinks were ridiculous and unnecessary, I can imagine it would be even worse in peak season. The bar staff were a bit miserable but we found all the other staff very friendly.

I was ashamed at some points of our holiday to be British due to some so called "parents" having total disrespect by swearing around and at their children. Most of the children were unsupervised all night and had no respect for the hotels property by running across rows of sunbeds up until 12am. The staff did shout at them, but as soon as they had gone, they were straight back up to no good. Where were the parents? Nowhere to be seen, probably drunk somewhere. We are not snobs we are a normal working class family, who swear where appropriate, drink and did smoke, but never around children.

This Hotel is an awful place full of awful people and I would not want to go back to another place like it for as long as I live. You have been warned!!!

Food was edible, as long as you enjoy pork! Guests did complain about the menu, or lack of choice! Food sometimes cold, but a microwave was available!!! Hello, food poisoning!!! We ate out most of the time.

The play area was ok and the pools were clean and tidy. The roof terrace was relaxing for those who want to get out of the way of the children, although they were allowed up, children tended to play in the large pool area down stairs.

All in all an ok holiday, but I cannot believe that the staff are allowed to speak to guests in such an abrupt and arrogant manner.

The winter escape to warmer climes was what was sought. A week of unlimited over-indulgence coupled with the great warmth of the Spanish people. And other than the rotten weather that is what we got.......however maybe from the hotels point of view we expected too much. The Royal Beach was supposedly a four star hotel though I’m unsure quite how the system works. On arrival, those that are all-inclusive are issued a photo card, first time I’ve experienced it, and it’s normally a wristband. Every time you want a drink you queue, present the card at the bar and the barman rings your ‘free’ drink through the till, one couldn’t help but think big brother was monitoring ones all-inclusive drinking habits. The room was ok, clean, two single beds pushed together, a balcony, a bath that only fills if you run the shower at the same time. Television with no remote control. You have to pay 20 Euro deposit for that luxury. The food, had some good and bad moments, sometimes needed warming up, microwave provided, obviously geared toward the English market but occasionally included Paella and Mussels and a load of olives, which is nice. Dessert was.....jelly, blancmange, rice pudding.......every day, or fruit.

Entertainment included ‘Smoking Fiesta’, a Peters & Lee type duo, man on keyboard smoking' constantly, woman singing all the old English and Spanish favourites. ‘Karaoke’, excruciatingly, embarrassingly funny.....at times. It promised Flamenco at least once a week but it must have been Paco de Lucia’s week off. Most importantly it was a bank holiday weekend in Spain and the hotel was full of real Spanish people.

The staff were pleasant, helpful and friendly without exception.

Couldn’t help comparing the whole thing to Butlins though (or at least my media encouraged perception of it, since I’ve never been).

I should really talk about Lloret, an extremely tourist orientated ex-fishing village with hints of Las Vegas, Brighton, Blackpool and the Isle of Wight. Once we’d blanked out the abundance of hotels, complete and incomplete, and dug a little deeper its retained more of its identity than one would expect. The beach nearest the hotel, Platja Fenals was pleasant, clean, sandy and quite pretty. The main beach Platja de Lloret, vast, clean sandy and again very pleasant, bear in mind that the sky was grey and smatterings of rain were apparent but occasionally the sun shone through. And finally one of the most beautiful, tranquil beaches I’ve seen (and I’ve seen a few), Platja de sa Boadella. Negotiating the continued development of the ‘Fenals’ part of town in a southerly direction there is a path into a small forest leading downhill to what can only be described as the most picturesque beach on the Costa Brava. Rocks, coves, sand and the odd Spanish fisherman. We watched the waves for hours. Only as I left did I realise that in the summer months it was ‘Naturist Tolerant’. (Would that make it even more picturesque? Possibly not.)

The town. We didn’t go there much but we did find a cracking bar mixing good Sangria run by a lad called Jonathan? In fact he was very Spanish and very welcoming. The bar was called ‘Bar corner Kim’. Kim being Jonathans Dad who actually owned the bar I believe. A very pleasant, well travelled English speaking Spanish chap, we spent hours talking to him and his lady ‘friend’. We went back for more the next day. Go there if nowhere else. If you want nightclubs of course, there are twelve we’re told. Themed pubs, arcades, themed restaurants, its all there, but that’s not why we were there. What we found of Lloret was a town clearly aimed at the British/European tourist industry but unable, or unwilling to shake off its inherent ‘Spanishness’. We liked it, quite a lot.

After all the hassle we had getting this holiday it turned out rather well. We were booked to go to Malgrat De Mar but ended up in the Royal Beach instead. The hotel I found clean and tidy and did not have one bad meal in the week we stayed here. My only complaint if you like is the way the tables are crammed into the dinning room, if your a big bloke like me it can be quite a squeeze at times. I found the staff friendly enough once you get to understand their sense of humour. The beach across the road was nice and the roof top sun terraces are a godsend, we did all our sunbathing up there. I would go back there again but not through Fleetway Travel.

Having read other posts about this hotel and having only booked on the net as a last minute deal my family and I went on holiday with an open mind.

We found the hotel staff to pleasant and helpful if they were treated with courtesy.

The room and all facilities were clean and well maintained, with clean sheets and towels every day.

The food was of a reasonable standard and there was always something to eat for adults and children alike even though my son chose to eat spaghetti at every available opportunity.

The only negatives being that we were led to believe we had a large family room booked which do not exist and 3 adults and a child into 1 room does not fit well BEWARE!

At night the comings and goings of the rooms above and adjacent could clearly be heard so take some earplugs for a good nights sleep.

Overall an enjoyable week and if you go here go with an open mind, I wouldn’t go back but that is only because there are so may other places to go and I would like to see more.

This Hotel is definitely a family holiday type selection. There are lots of children of all ages running about and if you want a family atmosphere that is fine but otherwise it is always noisy and busy.

The rooms are very clean and tidy and the Hotel in general is very clean and well maintained.

The food is quite good and in the fortnight I was there I found there was always something to my liking.

There is a great beach a few minutes from the Hotel, which is clean and tidy and suitable for all ages.

The staff in the reception area and dining rooms were always friendly and helpful which is more than can be said for the Bar staff downstairs who were very rude and treated guests with utter contempt! Others have observed and documented this and I am surprised the Management have chosen to allow this type of behaviour to continue.

No return here I’m afraid.

This was our second stay in the royal beach hotel, our first was 2003.We loved it so much that we booked again when we arrived home. I have 5 children all of them had a great time while we were there. The food was very good lots of choice.

The hotel was very clean. The rooms were quite large. The bar its self had a small queue when getting your drinks but it went down very quick.(2 drinks per person at any one time) We found the staff very friendly all over the hotel.

The roof top pool was lovely and relaxing. I have only just entered my review on this hotel because I have only just found the web site. I have how ever been reading the quite bad feedback to this hotel, and felt that I had to say something. Please do not believe everything that you read we loved this hotel, which is why we have already been twice .

We will be going again in 2006.Making it our third time of going. We had a late flight out the last visit we had ,the hotel let us keep our room until 1 am in the morning they were lovely. You can even watch a video in your room at night if you ask at the front desk Thank you for taking the time to read our comments.

This hotel should not be a 4 star. The rooms are quite large and very clean. You can always get a sunbed but there is no space between them you have to climb on them.

The food is just awful; we never got the food warm once in two weeks.
There is one microwave at the end of the line and a big line it is. There was nothing for the kids to eat apart from chips, no sausage, nuggets, pizza, I really mean nothing. You can only get 2 drinks, which would not be bad but they come in plastic cups which are not even as big as a half pint. In the end me and my family went out to eat and drink.

There is no bicycle hire, which it says it has. There is a very nice cafe across the road and also a good Indian and steak house around the corner for which we were grateful or we would have starved. I would not recommend this holiday to anyone.
