Myself, my wife and my 13 year old son went to the hotel for xmas 2010, we had a brilliant time, the hotel was spotlessly clean and the service both from the bar staff and the general hotel staff was excellent. the food was good, and the new years eve banquet was out of... more

Oct 2011, Disappointed

How this hotel can be described as 4* is laughable. Although the rooms are clean they are very basic. In our room the lamps didn't work, nor did wardrobe doors. Only small things but they make a difference. However the air-conditioning didn't even exist! There was only a... more

welcome to a hotel full of rude and arrogant staff
We stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks. The rooms were spotless and cleaned daily, but I have never met such a group of rude and abrupt people. The food was the same every day, pork! Guests did complain about the poor menu. Sometimes the food was cold, but not to worry there was a microwavw at hand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Talk about reheating pork! Food poisoning ring any bells??????????????????/ Needless to say, we ate out 95% of the time. The chef even through my nine year old's lunch into the rubbish because his shorts were slightly damp! He was traumatised to say the very least. I complained to our Rep about this who did act on our behalf. The pool area was clean and the roof terrace was relaxing. The entertainment was basic, but the kids enjoyed it. All in all an ok hotel and with the right staff would dramatically improve. Definately no where near a four star.
great hotel
I have jus come back from lloret de mar 3 days ago and i think this hotel was brilliant. The enterance and reception was very clean and the entertainment at night was wonderfull. The only down point i had was it seemed to be the alcoholic drinks was waterd down.
Great break
Just come back from Royal Beach 18-22 May 2005, 4 day break. Went with my parents almost 70. We all had very good time, first time for parents A/I abroad. Must say very nice hotel couldnt fault anything about it. The cleaniness of the rooms, hotel, public toilets were exceptional. Limited choice of food, but could find something to eat. The fresh fruit for desert was gorgeous, melon, pineapple etc. The roof top area is brilliant with bar and sunbeds. Staff in all areas were very pleasant and approachable. The beach is short stroll away about 3 mins, but main area of Lloret and Lloret beach about 10 mins walk. All in all a lovely short break. Appears to be very popular with hen and stag parties, but very well behaved.
great place to stay for a fag run
september 2004 december 2004 march 2005 as you can see we smoke heavy but is the perfect location for the beach shops lloret {short walk or bus ride} the hotel its self is very clean well laid out the rooms are very comfortable and well maintained by the maids which we found very obliging The bar we found ok but some of the staff were very abbrupt but never the less we were never with out a drink or two. The entertainment i must say needs to be looked at {may be a british compare}? It was nice that they had an adults bar only so if it got to much for you in the main bar you could allways retreat to there and have a peacefull drink.Restaurant very clean food not bad {if it was hot}there was a wide choice of salads meat pasta and of course the soup which i had every day it was luss and it was hot . there was a wide choice of sweets its a shame they dont have cheese and biscuits as we are not a lover of puddings. And what can i say about the rooftop well it was brill just brill you have a pool two jacuzi a bar and so many sunbeds i lost count the bar staff were so frendley more so than down stairs its a shame that it closed at 7pm could have stayed there all night .Picnics we found very good .well over all we had a good time and we are going back in sept 05 more fags needed by then . ps i hate the plastic glasses also take your own tea bags and coffee that is a must
Ridiculously good value for money
I went as aprt of a 16 strong stag party. We had all paid £16 per night and were not expecting much. What we got was a good clean hotel which catered to all our needs. The food was okay and had something for everyone and the drink was free and plentiful. The staff were polite but reserved. If you are going, say hello to the Robin Hood Pub over the road.
The Royal Beach is well situated a couple of minutes' walk from the beach...
.. and a 20 minute walk from the centre of Lloret de Mar. I've used this hotel twice in the last 4 months on an All Inclusive Package. The AI package meant we could use other hotels in the chain, viz Casino Royal Hotel and the Royal Star Hotel in Lloret de Mar. Service from the staff in the Royal Beach is first class. It can get a bit noisy as it's a favourite with stag nights and hen parties on short stays. Food is average and adequate. The hotel would benefit from a quiet lounge as the function room can become very noisy when there's musical entertainment. The foyer at Reception is quiet but is very draughty because of the automatic door which opens and closes all the time with people entering and leaving.
Over rated should be 3 stars the most
To begin with this hotel definitly is no way near the standard of any 4 star rating. There is no gym, food less than average, decor is in the 80s, facilities is poor and in general less than average. The hotel description states recently refurbished to gain 4 stars, but when I was staying there, this seemed a little overstated. The decor is so outdated, the facilities is poor. To use a gym, you need to go to the local sister hotel 100m away. There are no in-door pool, only an out door pool. The bar is dreadful, from the seating, comfort, lighting, etc... there is nothing good about the bar. Most of the guests are British, therefore the atmosphere seemed almost like a UK beach resort. The resturant food is extremely bland. If staying as half or full board - the buffet is very dull. The food is just edible. The breakfast is almost dreadful. The hotel tries very hard to accomidate the Brits. The breakfast is mostly tiny little sausages, meatless bacon, nasty scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, hotdogs, watered tasteless baked beans, etc.. In terms of continental breakfast goes, single type of croissant - thats it and some dreadful cereal - worse than Tesco value. The food in general is NOT suited for those who do not want to eat bacon, sausages or pork. Chicken and beef is very hard to come by. There is fish everynight (fish & chips), but the taste is edible. The rooms are of comfort with a TV, hair dryer, and usual items. The beds are awful though. The springs in the matress sounds like a dodgy guitarist. I ended up with a bad back from this. To get the TV to work a remote control is required. A deposit of 20euro is required, this is refunded once the remote is returned. The rooms in general are clean and a maid come daily to change the towels and clean the room. Locally there are plenty of cash machines, and gift shops, although very tacky. The supermarket is very useful to top up on food and supplies. Town centre is approx 1km where McD's and Burger King is available. Also there are some clubs, but most places are shut during the off season. The beach is very close to the hotel, only 100m approx to the rear of the hotel. The beaches are clean-ish, but be warned the dogs are on there, therefore there are dog poops. The sand is on the coarse side, but still quite pleasant. The airport is 34km away, a taxi one-way will cost a steep 40euro, and a bus service is available at certain times. Get a transfer arranged, probably be more simpler and cheaper. Bus services are OK is they turn-up. It takes min 15-30min wait for a bus to get to Blanes (main station to get to Barcalona). As we went during the off season (March) there is little or nothing to do locally. Everything almost is closed except for the local supermarket. Barcalona is a good day out and taking the public transport is probably a good option as visiting the city can be done leisurely. Bus far ranges from 1.20er one way pp adult. Train tickets costs 7.50er pp adult. As we went during the off season, there is some good in this, there is not many drunk Brits around in the evening, but the downside is there is almost nothing to do locally, therefore the trip becomes very laid back with hardly anything to do. I can imaging how busy the resort will be during the peak season and will be full of Brits. The evenings will be noisy too.
Fantastic
Went with a couple of pals. location of hotel in relation to beach and town very good. Food a little poor in choice and repetitive. Rosa, one of the chambermaids was very accomodating.
it was fantastic
Me and my daughter went there on sept 15 the hotel staff were welcoming and friendly they would do there best to please you, the rooms were clean, tidy and had lots of room they have two pools and both of they are kept clean and tidy i was very impressed at the standard of the food it was fantastic as there was a viriety of foods for different cultures i would recomend this to any one as we will be going back next year
depressing!!
stuart 44 jane44 kerry 17 adam 17 stefan 15 liam 12 Essex 22-29 oct 04 Think battery chickens before you book this hotel! yes it is clean but that is about all you can say about it. The restaurant or should i say feeding area was cramped and badly set out, the food was recycled non descript swill, in comparison a KFC outlet would be a Michelin 5* restaurant. The whole catering operation is designed to feed people as quickly and cheaply as possible(all self-service even drinks). Entertainment was virtually non existent, 3 hrs of agadoo for the kids then 3hrs of morbidly obese people making unintelligible noises into a karaoke machine. Tell a lie one evening I entered the main bar in eager anticipation, after seeing a flamenco show advertised as the evenings entertainment, turned out to be a man dressed as a bull fighter manically stamping on the stage miming to the gipsy kings. Some reviews have said it was good value for money but i paid £299 a head ( half term) and consider to have been ripped off. During our stay we visited another H Top hotel in Santa Susannah about 20kms away. This was a total contrast in every way and deserved its 4* rating. Royal Beach was 2* at best. The fabric of the hotel is tired and worn(much like the staff attitude). My advice: give it a wide berth and try Pontins instead.
