Just returned from this so called 4...
2 / 10
Jul 2007, Mrs K Shaw

Just returned from this so called 4 star hotel, it certainly isn’t!
Accommodation-only good thing about the overall holiday our room was cleaned everyday with fresh towels daily.
Food-was mostly cold, leftovers from day before were used the next day, same type of food every day.
Entertainment-basically rubbish.
Pool area- very crowded pool area, beds very close together, while we was there the pool wasn’t cleaned for three days, it was disgusting.
Staff-very rude-they need to go on a course on customer services.
Overall not a good hotel. We will not be going back.

Just got back from a two weeks...
4 / 10
Jun 2007, Mrs H Ledgeway

Just got back from a two weeks holiday to the Royal Beach in Lloret de Mar.
We stayed here 8 years ago as a large group with family and friends, so when we decided to go again as a large group we decided to return to the Royal beach. There was 15 adults, 8 children, and 2 infants. I don't know where to start but here goes.
The hotel is rated as a 4 star (don’t know where) we arrived to the hotel at 11am and when we got booked in we went to the rooms and there was a terrible smell in the bathroom and it was still there when we came home it was the drainage. Then we went round the pool where the sun beds were filthy.
The food leaves a lot to be desired. We had the same food over and over and for the first week everything was cold, so we complained and the rep which was a complete waste of time, all she did was managed to get the food a little hotter, definitely not 4 star.
We went into the snack bar and all the food was cold and raw so we complained to the hotel manager and when he came into the snack bar he asked the chef to warm the food up as you can expect everyone in the restaurant went mad and left. This didn’t get any better all the holiday so it cost a fortune buying meal out of the hotel.
The hotel is listed in the brochure as a hotel for families and I don't know where as it more like an 18 to 30 hotel. There are lots of groups of stag and hen groups which don’t care if there are children in the hotel. They drink from 10am until midnight so you can imagine how drunk they are and they stripped of and got in the pool at about 9pm while there where all the children about naked.
On a number of occasions there were problems with the groups running around the hotel mad and screaming at early hours in the morning. The hotel management didn’t do anything about it not even the security guard, what good he was anyway.
If you are about to book and going with children please think again. The only entertainment for children on a night is mini disco which starts at 8 and last for 4 songs.
There is a couple of games for the children in the day but there isn’t anything for the adults. The only good thing about going with the large group is that we were able to make our own entertainment.
Sorry if this puts you off but I wish someone had told me what it was like before I had booked it. 14,000 pounds down the drain and not even a free child.

When we arrived at the hotel there...
6 / 10
Jun 2007, Mrs D Speakman

When we arrived at the hotel there were a lot of people checking in, it wasn't very organized and took a while for us to get our key then move along to get our picture taken, wait for a lift to take the cases up, then the rooms weren't ready, then we had to go back down for our card.
I am 26 I went with my husband (31) and my daughter (13 months). There is not much for babies to do, my daughter hadn't started walking yet and there was nowhere for her to crawl around, we thought she would be ok on the tile floor but she kept slipping and banging her head, she had 3 big bruises within 3 days, so she was crying all holiday to get out and crawl but we couldn't let her. The only place she could crawls was the corridors to the rooms because they had carpet on.
The hotel is clean and the rooms get cleaned every day, although it does say it is a 4 star, I would not agree, it is not very modern and there is nothing special about it, which I would expect.
I thought the food was quite nice and quite a few vegetarian options. There was fresh fruit everyday on every meal and the snack bar. There were all different salads, breads, and soups.
I was disappointed with the snack bar (and it is the restaurant when it is closed and you can't take food outside) every time it was open it had exactly the same things. I will name all of them:
Chips
Hotdog sausages
Burgers
Bacon
Onions
Tomato
Cheese
Bread
Little tubs of ice cream
Basket of fruit
The pool is nice and there is a small pool on the roof and 2 Jacuzzis, it is nice on the roof, it is quiet, there is music and no queue for the bar, but it is small.
The main pool is surrounded by beds, and there are no gaps in them so when sunbathing you are right next to a stranger which I personally didn't like.
There seemed to be a lot of entertainment for the kids and they gave medals out in the evening from games in the day.
They have bingo sometimes in the day, but not normal tickets, they are free and you pop the number out when it is called, you can win champagne and sweets for kids.
The entertainment isn't very good in the evening, but there is a board telling you what is on so you can make other arrangements if you don't like the look of it.
There is a very ancient small arcade for the kids and I don't think half of the things work. There is a play ground which seems ok.
There is a small shop which seemed ok
We didn't need to make any complaints so I don't know how helpful the reception area or the reps.
The drinks are ok and there is a wide range I thought, but it is only free for local drinks. You can get 2 at a time but beer is only in half glasses.
The beach is not far at all but it is shingle, the is another beach in the centre of Lloret, which is about 15 minute walk is also shingle (if it’s not shingle, it’s not nice sooth sand like normal)
There are a few bars, restaurants and shops near the hotel but most are in the centre, there is a chemist and doctors on the same road as the hotel, only about 3 minute walk away, a tobacconists not far and a park for the kids.
There is crazy golf next door to the hotel, and a supermarket across the road with sells English and Irish food. I think it is run by English people as well. A pub across the road which shows all the soaps if you want to watch them.
Overall I did enjoy my holiday, but I wouldn't go with my family again. I would go if I was going with a gang of friends or hen do. (There were quite a lot of gangs of people, but no trouble).

Have just returned from Royal Beach...
5 / 10
Jun 2007, Mrs L Devlin

Have just returned from Royal Beach Hotel, having read the reviews before we went I have to say I was quite worried about what we were going to, having two young children but thought it was four star it couldn’t be that bad.
The Hotel itself is over rated, it is most certainly not 4 star, when we arrived at 4.00 am in morning the rep just dropped us off at door, where we had the pleasure of being greeted by a very drunk lad, who was staying there, did not like my children having to see this, when we entered into lobby of hotel, we were hit with the smell of stale smoke.
We were given card to our room which was quite cramped, it was a twin room with two extra beds put in for the children, which left not a lot of room for moving about.
Next morning things looked abit better, pool area was nice, surrounding area was nice, very close to the beach, beautiful beach apart from there is not sand but tiny stones which is very sore on feet and the beach is very rough at times.
We went all inclusive, and have to say the food was not great, everything smelled and tasted the same, sometimes food same two days in row.
Some of the staff were very friendly and other not so much, entertainment staff are good with children but the entertainment was terrible, the hall was like a bingo hall, the same people in the same seats every night, after children's entertainment the music was very loud, children did not enjoy it, and they are very easily pleased.
I am very easy going person, and go on holidays to have a good time and don't expect nothing flash but this hotel did really not do it for me most nights we were in our room at 10.00 cause people were getting so drunk and it is not a place for children.
On our last night, we had 13 hours out of our room before the bus collected us, the hotel were not accommodating in letting have our room for a few more hours.
Our bus wasn't collecting us to 1.00 am and we were out of our room at 10.00 am with two small children a very long day, we actually booked into another hotel for the day to get some sleep and a wash.
On return to our hotel, that night we were greeted by loads of really drunk ones, one boy was so drunk he fought outside hotel and had his face covered in blood and came back into hotel and was making a complete mess of himself, and it was quite frightening for our children who were sitting there.
The staff done nothing the security man was useless, the man was a threat to people and they were doing nothing about it, I was glad when our bus came and we were leaving the Royal Beach Hotel.
So if you are reading these reviews and thinking it might not be that bad, please take my advice, don't do it especially if you have children.
I haven't even covered everything noisy corridors, people fighting next to you in room the list goes on and believe me I am not a fussy person and like my fun, but this hotel was certainly not fun. If I was getting a free holiday for the rest of my life with the Royal Beach I would certainly have to decline.
My advice do not go and end up having to write the same review.

This hotel has everything you want...
10 / 10
Jun 2007, Miss  Boyd

This hotel has everything you want it, has a beach like a 2 minute walk, bus stop right outside hotel, places you can go for free, hotels you can visit and use their leisure for free, shops everywhere so you can’t get bored, mini golf like a 3o second walk and lots more.
The entertainment I must say was a bit of a downer as it was mostly dancing or tricks, but there are plenty of other things to keep you entertained.
The staff were very pleasant, understanding, and helpful.
Rooms were clean and tidy and I just felt like royalty, everything was perfect and I didn’t have to do a thing.
The food is fine and others must be very picky. You have to consider that not everything is perfect and for that price. I wouldn’t even dare moan as long as I didn’t starve then it’s ok, isn’t it?
This isn’t a noisy hotel maybe abit of noise from the people downstairs, but you can’t expect a hotel with no noise, it’s just people enjoying themselves and I certainly enjoyed myself and going back in a week can’t wait.
I would recommend this hotel for someone who isn’t a fussy person on food and who just wants to relax and have fun. I mean you can’t go wrong on the price.

I was apprehensive about coming here...
9 / 10
Jun 2007, Miss A De Franco

I was apprehensive about coming here from the reviews but believe me, it is a great place for couples young and old, and families.
I came here the end of May with my boyfriend (both in our early 20's) and we had a blast.
We stayed in the Fenals area which to be honest is rather quiet and only decent place to drink in was Robin Hoods but a short walk up the road past brave hearts (another good place for a swift one on the way) and you suddenly walk into a bustling market area and plenty of pubs and lots and lots of clubs.
We had a great time. Lloret has a good atmosphere and we didn’t once feel threatened or scared there. Good prices for some bars but watch out for others who charge you for sitting outside. We had great weather and the beach is a good mixture of families and teenagers. Go on the walk alongside the castle you won’t be disappointed.
I found the Royal Beach Hotel to be of an excellent standard and you certainly got what you paid for although the drinks were slightly watered down. Food was rather samely but you can always find something to eat and be full.
The staff were nice and I didn’t hear of anyone having anything stolen and even the pervy waiters weren’t as pervy as they can be in Spain lol. Go on the medieval night it is great for couples and families! Turned out to be the night I was most drunk.
Barcelona and Nu Camp visits were good although I would recommend having more free time in your trip as we only had an hour or so in-between the fountains and nu camp as we left at 2 and arrived nearer 5!
The good thing about the H Top hotels is you can use the card in different hotels the hotel casino looks good and was our second fav for a free drink on the nights out but royal star was just as good although we didn’t se their pool.
If you have booked hotel Alexis ask for a transfer that place is terrible!
Hope I helped some of you! I promise it is a great place and a wonderful place to equally chill out or party whatever your taste.

After reading some of the other...
9 / 10
Jun 2007, Miss L Thomas

After reading some of the other reviews it doesn't seem like I stayed at the same hotel!

The staff couldn't have been more helpful, the rooms were smaller than we expected but they were clean and towels were changed daily.
The food was lovely, clearly some people had gone to Spain expecting to eat egg and chips every day! There was a large variety of food both English and Spanish (including chips every day if that's what you like!) and desserts, fresh fruit, yoghurts and jelly every day. My son is 6 and he never went hungry.
If you go on an excursion for the day they provide you with a packed lunch (just make sure you order it the day before you go) so your all inclusive is well worth the money.
The drinks are free flowing all day and between meal times there are snacks available...chips, burgers, hot dogs and ice cream.
The kid’s entertainment was fine; they had games in the pool and other sporting activities like table tennis. They had competitions and handed out awards at the mini disco in the evenings. My son came home with a medal and certificate that he is very proud of!
There is a small arcade inside but the weather was lovely so it was hardly used. There is also a pool table and a kids club where they can paint and draw on rainy days.
For the adults there are 2 Jacuzzis on the roof and a small pool for children, very tranquil if you just want to lie in the sun!
There's lots to do around the area, the beach is about a 5 minute walk away, there are excursions you can book from the hotel like a day in Barcelona at the football stadium and shopping; there's a free bus service to Marineland where they have dolphin show and sea lion shows...highly recommended.
There's a free bus to the aqua park for children of all ages with water slides or for the more adventurous there is Port Aventura with rollercoaster rides. On the last day we took a boat trip out to Tossa de Mar, a very lovely town still rife with Spanish culture.
There is a train on the sea front that takes you around the small streets of Tossa; it was a lovely way to end our holiday.
The hotel is situated away from the heart of the noisy town centre but the bus stop is right outside the hotel so everything is very accessible.
There is also a free bus that takes you to the different top hotels which has to be booked in advance. You can go to the other hotels to have lunch, use the pool, gym or any of their facilities.
I highly recommend this hotel; we're going back in August!
Just one warning, at the airport on your return flight your luggage can only weigh 15k and they charge you 8 Euros per kilo over...its ridiculous as my case was 20k when I flew out so they expect you to come back with less than you left with!

The accommodation was nice and clean,...

Jun 2007, Mrs M Rothwell

The accommodation was nice and clean, beds made daily, clean towels daily.
Staff very friendly, entertainment good, plenty of local bars, mini golf next door.
The food not that nice at the hotel but there are plenty of places nearby to eat .The local buses are great also are the hotel buses.
We flew to Barcelona and got a train that took you to Blanes from there you have to get a bus or taxi to Lloret, I wouldn`t do it again as it is too far away and a lot of messing. The flight times were better than going to Gerona.
All in All a really good holiday, hopefully we will be going back in July.

This hotel was the best I have been...

May 2007, Pa Attwood

This hotel was the best I have been to, however the food is not a 4 star.
The entertainment and the hotel itself was great. The reps are very good with the kids, maybe need more entertainment for the teenagers.
Very safe hotel and very talkative waiters. Close to everything you need for your holidays.
Just food let the week down would definitely come again though. See you next year.

After arriving from hell (Hotel Grand...

May 2007, Mrs E Townsend

After arriving from hell (Hotel Grand Casino Royal) this was heaven!
They were very friendly at reception, possibly as we had left the last hotel before slitting our wrists!
The room was lovely, the hotel was clean, we certainly would not have said shabby?
The pool was great and the grounds fine!! Entertainment a bit butlins but entertaining none the less.
Food edible (unlike the Casino Royal) snack bar ok! Didn’t use the shop in reception, there is a small kwiksave, opposite were you can get your hp sauce from, great cooked breakfasts.
There were a few groups, which did appear hard of hearing, and a hen party, but didn’t bother us, although wouldn’t of wanted to be in rooms next to them!
Generally we found the hotel fine, and standards goods.
Word of warning the Robin Hood pub/club opposite can attract the loud! If you can get a room facing the pool and not at the front of the hotel, if you are a light sleeper, but we had a good time here (although we had just come from hell on earth)!! and met some nice people.

I stayed in a four star hotel in...
5 / 10
May 2007, Mr P Morgan

I stayed in a four star hotel in Benidorm in 2005. Flamingo Oasis. That was a four star hotel.
I would rate The Royal Beach no more than two stars.
Rooms were clean. Staff ok. Food was a letdown with very limited choice with too many dishes consisting of rice and pasta concoctions.
For all inclusive it was cheap, so you get what you pay for but I was there for only a three day visit and got food poisoning on the last day. Not good if you’re travelling home next day.
Won’t be back to the Royal Beach.

When I booked to go to the Royal...
8 / 10
Apr 2007, Mrs A Wilkinson

When I booked to go to the Royal Beach, I went thinking what have I let myself into after reading the reviews.
The hotel was basic but what do you accept for the price. The rooms were very clean, and the cleaners came in every day and changed towels.
The pool area was clean and plenty of sun beds, the bar men were friendly and never queued that long for a drink.
The only downside was the food it wasn't nice at all but I am fussy. We went across the road to Roxy’s which isn't expensive, if I would of paid a lot to go then I would of been disappointed but we only paid £60 for 3 nights each AI so I wasn't that bothered.
If you are taking teenagers or going as hen or stag holiday there is a disco bar directly across from the hotel and the staff there are brilliant. If you want to go into Lloret there is a taxi rank outside the hotel and cost about 5 Euros.
Fenals beach is a 2 minute walk from the hotel and is very clean.
I will be returning to Lloret we loved it! But I prefer Fenals side than Lloret and I would stay in the Royal Beach again.
