Well, where do I start?
Without doubt, H Top Royal Beach, by far, is the worst hotel I and my fellow travellers have ever stayed in!! The food was absolutely deplorable........very poor choice and quality! My mum and myself lived off cheese rolls for a week AND we had to buy our own butter from the local supermarket because the spread they offered was reminiscent of axel grease!! The drinks were also poor quality.......watery lager, watery orange juice and tap water claiming to be bottled, when it quite clearly wasn't!!
We also found the hotel staff quite obnoxious, especially the bar men.......no manners whatsoever and very rude towards my sister and myself!!
Our room was poorly decorated and my poor 60 year old mother had to sleep in a bed designed for a child (or a hobbit) on the first night, until our rep eventually intervened and got us a normal sized one!
The only good thing about the hotel was the general cleanliness and the domestic ladies were very nice and appeared to work hard, therefore the only people worthy of a tip at the end of our stay.
All in all, I would advise anybody thinking of coming to the hotel to give it a very wide bearth and Thomas Cook really should reconsider having this dire hotel on their books!!
If you value your digestive system.........STEER WELL CLEAR!!

Hotel located a 2 minute walk from Fenals beach (stone not sand!) Although not in the centre of Lloret (10 min walk away) there is a few pubs and restraunts and shops about. Right outside the hotel there is a bus every 15 minutes into Lloret which is really handy and they run til about half 9 at night.
If your looking for a big pubbing/clubbing holiday maybe better getting a hotel in the centre of Lloret. Royal Beach is good is you want a quieter time with a few drinks. Having said that.......hotel can be really noisy. Walls are paper thin and you can hear everything thats going on. Although the music in the hotel stops at 12, you can hear people. Being all inclusive there is alot of drunk people making noise at all hours of the morning so be prepared for being woken up!
Entertainment was decent for what it is - kids disco, flamenco show, snake show, brazilian dancing show, live music etcetc. All as you would expect for this sort of holiday. Would be a good place to take kids - throughout the day the staff have games and competitions going on. Plus theres a small park, games room, shop with sweets etc in.
Found hotel to be really clean, and maid did room thouroughly every day so no complaints there.
Food......... much the same every day. Breakfast = rolls, cheeses, ham, cereal, streaky bacon, eggs and beans. Lunch = salad, fruit, then the cooked stuff. Dinner = same as lunch. Alot of the stuff was really overcooked. Desserts were always the same and not up to much. Not for the fussy eater, although there was always plainer options such as chips and pasta (but always the same tomato sauce!) Found myself getting sick of the food very quickly, so ate out a few nights and it wasnt as bad. Snacks are chips and burgers basically (usually cold!!)For me, food is the main thing that lets the hotel down.
Staff werent particularly friendly but at the same time they werent rude.
Went first week of may so perfect for us as we didnt want anything too busy. Only downside was the adult only rooftop pool wasnt open which was disappointing as not having kids I enjoy to swim without the screaming and splashing! Also the waterparks etc werent yet open (open mid may).
Originally booked full board but upgraded to all inclusive before we left. I would advise this as the bar is quite expensive and if you plan on staying in the hotel by the pool and to see the entertainment at night its defo worth it. 2 drinks per card policy so you find yourself up and down constantly to the bar as the glasses are really small, which ca nbe annoying when the queues are getting bigger.

Me and my boyfriend went to this hotel as a cheap holiday break we are both 27.
The staff were very helpful and freindly, the hotel is very clean and our room was serviced every day by the maid.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner was always plentlyful with lots of lovely choices.
The drinks were not too bad my only qualm was that they were served in very small plastic glasses so you had to get 3-4 to quench your thirst (but most all-inculsive hotels abroad have this), house red was really nice though.
The entertainment was winding down for the season so was'nt kickin, although after a few drinks me and my boyf were up dancing to one of the act's who plays there.
All in all i'd say this hotel is brill value for money and we had a great time.

If you are a young person looking for a cheap all inclusive holiday then this hotel is ideal, we paid £260pp for a week and cannot complain about much after reflecting on this. I will say that i also disagree that this is a 4 star hotel as the food is rather lacking although i never left hungry. I had no problems what so ever with any of the staff, i just think that brittish people get confused with the spanish sense of humour and take it as rudeness. The room was always clean with fresh towels and sheets. I would however advise if you are looking for a quiet family holiday then this is probably not the hotel for you. As due to the price it is mostly full of young people or large groups of sports teams which tend to be noisey when returning from lloret de mar centre. If you are 18-30 and just want a cheap hotel to sit by the pool and get drunk it is perfect and me and the girlfriend had a great time!

Before booking the hotel I had checked the review so I thought I knew what to expect.
It looked clean and the receptionist checked us in swiftly. We had requested a low floor so I was happy to be staying in a spacious room on the 2nd floor (246). From the floor planner behind the door we had the largest room on the floor. I was pleased about this as I was expecting a small room. There were 2 adults and 2 children so it was ideal.
The issues with the room were that there was no safety sticker on the patio doors (which both my children ran into!!), the hairdryer was broken and there was no shower curtain. We reported these to reception and nothing was done, although we did get the maid to put up a shower curtain.
Beds were made and towels were replaced daily. I'm loathe to say rooms cleaned daily, as although they swept the floor it was still not clean and debris was visible.
The childrens entertainers ran some activities during the day and there were a few mini club sessions. There was a kids mini disco most evenings, which was ok. The entertainment was poor though. There were 2 singing 'cabaret' acts and a flamenco act - all poor and on the other nights the entertainment team did their own disco.
The kids spent most of their time in an out of the games room, which was directly off the entertainment venue.
The bar staff - mostly ok although one in particular was very rude. 2 drinks at a time policy for adults, 1 for children. You can't go with all the cards to get drinks for the family either, even if they can see them!!
The WORST part of this break was the fact that the hotel was FULL of youth football teams. They were extreemly noisy at all times of the day and night and hotel staff did nothing about it. They were passing matresses and furniture across balconies, banging on doors, using loudspeakers over the balconies right over the pool area, throwing each other into the pools including the childrens pool, which meant the children were unable to use it. They were even messing in the childrens play area. They monopolised the entire hotel and its facilities.
At meal times over half the restaurant was reserved for the teams and you struggled to get to the food as they pushed and shoved and when you finally got to the counters there was no food left!!
They took the mickey during the kids entertainment and generally ran amok. Nobody , including the 'staff' that were alledgedly 'supervising' the teenage boys took responsibility for the issues.
I'm sure they bring in a lot of money but that does not mean that they are entitled to spoil other guests holidays.
I went down to reception to complain a few times, but to no avil. I even went down a few times in the early hours as we were unable to sleep due to the hoardes of kids making noise on the corridors.
The pools looked ok but on closer inspection smelled very bad!
You can use other HTop facilities, athough only 3 times for meals and you can only visit each hotel once. You can swim or drink at the hotels as much as you like before 7pm.
I would not advise using the indoor pool at the Royal Star, just down the road from the Royal beach. It stinks, is damp and very dirty. The ceiling tiles are hanging down, damp and mouldy. It seems very dangerous and a potential serious health hazard.
I'm not a fussy person and would've been happy with the hotel for a few days away had it not been for the footballers.
I would not go for more than a week either, it's ok for a short break.
This hotel has a 4 star rating but I cannot see how they maintain this. It may have been 4 star in the 80's but is definatley no more than a 3 star.

After staying in this hotel in august myself and a friend with are two children we had the time of are lives, the hotel was lovely and well cleaned everyday, the food was also very good there was always food there at any time of the day. The staff was very friendly and really chated away 2 us and made us fell really welcomed. The beach is only a two minute walk away. The kids aged 7 and 8 had a ball and want to go back next year, there was plenty for them to do all week at this hotel as the staff were very good with them and spent lots of time with them, never have i stayed at a hotel were staff spent as much time with the kids. I would really recommend this hotel to everyone ingore the other comments and see for yourself, you can't please everyone.

We have just returned from a weeks stay at this Hotel .. and need a weeks holiday to catch up on the sleep... it is the most noisiest Hotel we have ever stayed at.. on one paticular night/morning i had to get the security guard twice to quieten down a room (around 18 half dressed people came running out) full of people who were running up and down the corridors screaming fighting and banging on doors, which went on till about 5am .. other nights were also very noisey with people screaming shouting and knocking on doors till god knows what time in a morning. When we went we were a bit dubious after reading other reviews about the food.. although it is not up to 4* standard it was edible.. overall the hotel does not meet the 4* standard, we have stayed in 2* and it has been better. The staff are not very helpful infact very ignorant with the English people but it seems they cannot do enough for the Spanish and French but..... after the way the english people acted in this hotel who can blame them. i must point out also that it was not the young (teens) that were making all the noise it was the 30+ guests after getting tanked up in the all inclusive bar. Will not be staying here again

this hotel is definitely not4 star.room was o.k but bath was never washed out at all the week we stayed.clean towels every day but room was dusty.the food left a lot to be desired,if u didn`t like chips and salad then u didn`t have much choice of anything else as all food was swimming in grease.reception staff were helpful the maid we had was pleasant bar staff were o.k.but plastic glasses dreadful smelling of whatever drink they held before.the swimming pool was full of debris and never once cleaned out while we stayed.this hotel attracts rowdy people who drink constantly and annoy other guests going to their rooms at night.entertainment only a disco each night a couple of nights a singer not very good.dining room staff very surly and unhelpful.

We booked here after losing a previous booking for the 4 star GUITATR Gold resort. This hotel is very clean with a v small gym and indoor pool etc, but I would not class it as 4 star. The rooms are big enough with plenty of storage and v clean, but the restaurant offered basic food which could be a bit repetative. the hotel was full one night and the queue for food was horrendous. There is no show cooking either and just one small island. Drinks v basic, unheard of names but can upgrade for approx 12 euros per person per day to get branded drinks. Hotel bit away from beach on busy rd but the Le Jardin Argentinian Restaurant over the rd is worth a visit when you get sick of the food. couldnt do this hotel for more than a few days, v clean but basic food etc, doesnt really live up to its four stars but certainly worth what we paid for it, and fine for a short break.

i stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights in jan 2009 on arrival at reception, the staff were reasonalbly helpful in telling us about the measl times and arranging a free meal in the snack bar due to our late arrival. we were a party of 8 with four rooms booked.the hotel rooms itself were basic and to access the tv we had to pay a deposit for the remote control and there was no information in the hotel rooms, there were do not disturb signs in a couple of our rooms, one of the wall lights was not working when we arrived and still not working on leaving, which left the room a little dark. thisd proved that the cleaners were not doing there job beacuse they would know when they access the room to clean it, also we found that the wall between the rooms were paper thin and you had to be more mindful of noise and speech. the 1st night we arrived we brought a barndy in the entertainment bar the staff were pleasant and helpful and the drinks were ok, someof the party wanted to smoke so went to the lounge bar, drinks were ordered the coke was flat and had to changed for a bottle and the brandy was watered done and left untouched. as for all meal times it didn't matter wether you are 1st or last in the queue the food was the same served lukewarm or cold with not and not a great variety in choice. the rolls were hard possibly stale, some of our party have stayed at 2 plus rating hotels and had a far more enjoyable time, if all the H Top hotels are the same then i guarentee they will not get my service again. this is definatley not a 4 STAR hotel. the entertainment was yet to be desired.

just returned from staying at htop royal beach hotel in fenal lloret de mar and needed to warn families not to make the same mistake that we did! this is advertised as a family hotel but during may school holidays it was full of german students- 400, yes 400! of them! needless to say, these were very drunk and very loud to say the least! running along corridors and banging on peoples doors ALL night long. the corridors stank of beer and people were urinating in the lifts! The security was a joke, they could not control the offenders so they didnt bother trying. added to this were stag and hen parties that were partying in the same evening entertainment room as the families NOT appropriate viewing for children!!!!
