This resort was fab!! The swimming pools were amazing and very hygenic. We expereinced no problems in getting sunloungers, regardless of the time of day. The food was really good, lots of choice and the pancakes for breakfast were a definite hit - definitely go to the Egyptian restaurant on the old side.
We used the on-site diving school, the staff here were great and very reassuring!! The beach was very pretty and was a great suntrap.
Lunch at the pool bars could have been better but there was always lots of choices in the main restaurant. There were lots of choices for vegetarians too!!
The distance from the two hotels was not far, only took about 10 minutes to walk - if feeling lazy you could easily catch the bus.
The rooms were cleaned every day to a really high standard and rooms service IS available. We called twice, once just to get extra coffee and someone came straight away.
We loved the staff, they worked non-stop but were always really chatty and friendly.
We did get upset stomaches which I believe were due to the heat and eating different food to what we have here.
We would definitely go back - Sharks bay was great for snorkling and scuba diving :)

We are awaiting our tenth holiday at the Hilton Sharks Bay in September 2011. Each visit has been a delight. The staff have been wonderful nothing is to much trouble. There is a large choice of foods, so you can always find something to eat. The hotel is bright , clean and close to Soho Square if you want to take a stroll. Each year we seem to see the same holidy makers returning. So that must mean something. The weather is fantastic Hot Hot. You do hear people moaning at the heat, but it is Egypt what do they expect. We love the sun. If you get chance to snorkel, do it the fish are breath taking. Even if you can't swim take a walk to sea front a watch the fish at your feet. The beach is not what I would call friendly rock face and steps to get to sea. But worth it if you can. All in all returning year after speaks for it's self we love it .

When me and my family went to Hilton Sharks Bay, my first impressions weren't good but as soon as I stepped in the building at 10pm the staff were very welcoming and it was just like home. Although we had to wait for at least an hour the staff kept us updated on when our room would be ready and got us some refreshments. In the morning the first thing that we did was we went into the pool and sun bathed. The food and drink was fairly good although the tables should be cleaned more often. The activities on the sea were great we went parasailing and there were a range of other activities.
Staff were GREAT!!! Friendly to me and my WHOLE family!!
Can't say any more!! Absouloutely loved it!!

We arived at the hotel about 6.00am (a regular flight) but told there were no rooms availavle yet. We were offered no refreshment (already 30degrees) or told what was where. Had breakfast at 6.30 for something to do and back to reception to ask about our rooms. Unfriendly response that it wasn't ready and it wasn't hsi fault. As we sat there in the heat for 4 hours other people were booked in and no one approached us when a room became available we had to keep asking. We for a small room right at the very back of the old part with paper thin wall so we could hear EVERYTHING from the family next door including sharing thier cigarette smoke!!
Food was OK for the numbers they had to cater for but dull. Don't go to the Pizza place - we were both quite unwell after that. Lots of staff but unless you are willing to tip or join in with the endless creepy flirting don't expect any service.
Pool was nice and relaxing, no problem getting a lounger thsi time of year and it was quiet and peaceful (apart from the 'Animation Team' bothering you to try to get you to play games or stretch or something). As a hotel it is a bit isolated and no beech to speak of

  • Advice: Ok if you just want to sit and read in the sun for a few days

Never Again

Myself, Husband and 9 year old daughter have just returned from 14 nights at Hilton,Sharks Bay, and can honestly say that was the most dissapointing holiday ever!
Upon arrival at 5 am, feeling very tired, we were not even given a welcome upon our arrival. Which was not what we expected. There were a couple of guests in the foyer looking really glum, and now I understand why.
The housekeeping staff were always friendly, and cleaned your room to a high standard. Leaving lovely thick clean white towels every day, and changing the beds every day, along with making animals out of the towels, which my daughter looked forward to seeing each day.
Getting served at the pool bar at the new hotel was always a lottery. If you happened to be Egyptian, you got served immediately you arrived at the bar, which was really annoying. The tables were always sticky and dirty with tomato ketchup and salt over them, along with rickety old chairs, which most of them needing dumping and replacing, as they were dangerous.
The main restaurant in the new hotel was like complete mahem every single meal time. The tables again were always dirty, the waiters used to, on the odd occasion flick a cloth over the table and knock all the debri onto the chairs. Each meal time I had to clean my chair, and knock food off the table which had been left by previous diners. Yuk, it was disgusting. They were so busy getting people seated, the whole hygiene issue went out of the window. That is probably why my husband and I have been suffering cramping stomachs and diahorrea for the last week of our holiday, and also on our return home.
The food was awful, there was not much choice for kids.
They had an Italian Pizza Restaurant in the old hotel which we tried. You had to queue for ages and when they were taken out of the oven they were thrown onto the counter and you had to say which was yours, and then as the chef cut your pizza with the pizza cutter so frantically half of the toppings were pushed off the pizza onto the dirty serving counter. It was a disaster.
We have been to many Hilton Hotels and are now Diamond members, but we never thought we were in a Hilton Hotel on this holiday.
Oh yes don't forget to set your alarm at 6 am in order to get your sun lounger around the pool. I am not joking.
I need to go now as the cramps in my stomach have returned!

Worst Holiday in 30 yrs.

Jul 2010, Honest_traveller 003

I am a doctor by profession with a history of travel over more than 40 destinations. With the busyness of work, holidays abroad is all that keeps you going.
We were a party of 11 including 1 child and 2 infants and had booked a week holiday in Deluxe Rooms on the new side of the hilton.
We had a late arrival into sharm-el-sheikh at 10pm only to be greeted by the inhospitable, unhelpfulness that were the front desk staff.
Check in was in the old side of the hilton and was quick with no information provided as to resort or facilities, including access to rooms.
Having arrived late in the 40 degrees heat of the Egypt with young children we were eager to go to the rooms and settle in as were we hungry as well.As the new side is 20mins walk away from the old side, we were left waiting for a bus transfer between the two which took approx. 20mins, only later to find they have private buggies on site which should have been offered to us on arrival.
The rooms were adequate, double bed , TV an "EMPTY" Fridge, and AC. We soon discovered there was NO ROOM SERVICE, no mini bar and only one bottle of water in each room. Our rooms were pool view at the front and Airport runway strip visible at the back. So if ever boredom strikes or you forget to arrange an early wake up call you can rest assured early morning aeroplane take -off will keep you on your toes. Our room was located close to the pool but at least 15min walk to the main building on the new side. This meant anytime you wanted a beverage or a snack (soup or some strips of cold chicken) after 10pm be prepared for a midnight stroll. Further more if your one for sleeping in and choose to use your obsolete "DO NOT DISTURB SIGN" , you can guarantee to find an unwanted guest "the cleaner" overlooking you whilst you sleep - so much for privacy. On the topic of cleaning, on several occasions we had found that after the room was cleaned there were rationings of towels, two per room - No hand towels etc. Also when the rooms were being cleaned AC was switched of and balcony doors left open - so you may find when you return to your room you have some new tenants "a cockroach or your neighbourhood friendly spider" moved in. My wife and I had also had severe bites on our legs, the distribution of which was consistent with BED BUGS and not mosquitoes, and this settled on changing the mattress after a long discussion with reception on how changing the sheets alone would not resolve the problem. There is also sign in the room that says NOT to brush your teeth with tap water, which meant the 1.5L Bottle of water had to be used, yet you are expected to shower and wash you face using the same water.
The FOOD:
The buffet restaurant was indoors with seats outdoor. At times you would find you shared your meals with fly’s. The Food was bland , repetitive, with not much selection. There was no incentive to wake up for breakfast, the first time I have ever known a place to get the scrambled eggs wrong. Lunch was poor we ended up eating at the swim bar every day, only half decent food with tuna sandwich and chips. The service was slow , staff inattentive, and hygiene was definitely an issue particularly at the swim up bar where the staff would at times serve out chips with their bare hands. Dinner was much the same. Further more, all meal times were accompanied with a delay in service for drinks, with you having to constantly remind the staff of your order.
This was the first holiday that my family and I returned from and actually lost weight, although that wasn't solely down to the tasteless food, we had a helping hand from a touch of food poisoning which left me bed stricken for 2 days. I am now a week post holiday and still suffering as are my family inc. the young ones. We ate out on several occasions at the old Side of the hilton, and I have to say the food was certainly better and service too, whether that had anything to do with our complaining to management or not I not entirely sure.
Again the restaurant were inadequately air conditioned which made eating uncomfortable added insult to the already tasteless food.
The Facilities:
The pool was the only good attraction. Large with a slide. The only complaint about this was they chose to clean the pool during peak usage. They also seemed to fumigate the area with insecticide during peak hours so come equipped with a facemask to prevent against any breathing difficulties.
The bars if you could call them that had no atmosphere or charisma. ONLY LOCAL drinks served and Beer was like drinking fizzy water.
One of my main reservations about the Hilton is they had no adjustments to facilitate families or the disabled. NO LIFTS in the HILTON come on its meant to be the Hilton?, and most of the bars and restaurants were upstairs. This proved very difficult for our group as one of our members was disabled and we had children with us. The Staff were reluctant to help even if they saw you struggling with a Childs buggy on climbing the stairs. Also given it was at least 15mins walk to the main building, ordering a buggy was very difficult as the staff always seemed unwilling to assist and were always late. You tend to get the feeling that you were being ignored or fobbed of with empty promises.
All in all our whole group are in agreement about one things and that is we need another holiday to alleviate the stress and torture having endured from this holiday. With my experience of holidays this is definitely one to forget. I was very surprised at all the good reviews on trip advisor and find them very misleading. Well my advice is if you are used to travelling 3* and Above or to places with good service or touch of class then trust in me when I say Forget this place as you will truly be disappointed.

Fantasic third holiday in Eygpt

This was the third time me and my boyfriend have been to Sharm el sheikh and it definately won't be our last. Each time we have gone, we have stayed at a different hotel but i think the Hilton has by far been my favourite. When we arrive we checked in and they asked if we would like an upgrade, because i had read on other trael advisor websites that we should we didnt hestitate and believe me thank god we did it was £116 for one weeks upgrade which i thought wasnt bad. We then got taken in a golf buggy round to our room which was huge! It had a walk in shower, bath, hair dryer, tea and coffee, bit flat screen telly, massive bed! But what was best is that the atio doors opened up onto the pool outside.
The food in the main resturant was good loads of choice, me and my boyfriend also on most cday swam round to the beach bar and has a cheese toasted sndwich or urger and chips at the beach bar whilst sat in the pool.
The entertainment was brilliant but in fairness its never been goodin eygpt so we werent expecting anything, ok for kids though. We walked down toSoho square on two occasions which is loely and went to see the dancing fountains, we also paid to go in the ice bar but weren'toverly inpressed with it.The deluxe part of the hotel and the old part are on different sides of the road thouh there is a shuttle bus which can take you either end. We didnt really use the old side as we had a lovely pool where we were, though we id hear from other guest that the rooms were quite small. We went snorkelling on a few occasion which was amazing the fish are huge because the water is alot deeper definately recommend. Also the pizza resturant in the old hotel is cooll, they freshly make the pizzas for you whilst you weight and they are delicious.
So overall we had fantastic hotel and i would go back there tomorrow if i could the people, location, wether everything was fantastic!!

Dissapointing Quality from Hilton
4 / 10
Apr 2010, luv2getaway

Hilton Sharks Bay - 10 days over easter certainly not a quality holiday due to noise from building site, poor quality of food and one or two misearable staff. certainly not a 4 Star Hotel probably equates to a 3 Star Spanish Hotel at present which is a real shame. We wont be going back unless they increase the price and quality to guarantee a quality holiday.

Best holiday ever!!!

This hotel is perfect, me and my friend had our best holiday ever!! When we arrived we automatically upgraded to the 'new' side of the hotel for 40 Pound Sterling each. After reading disapointing reviews about the 'old' side we thought it would be to our advantage, it sure was. On the new side you get a balcony or terrace and a pool view, the rooms are immaculate and very spacious. You get clean towels and bed sheets everyday, and a complimentary bottle of water for your room if All Inclusive. The food was very nice, with a large selection, and a different country theme for every night. Egyptian food, to my surprise, was very nice! The location is perfect, Soho Square is a 10 minute walk with a variety of bars and shops, an Ice Bar and a nightclub. It is only 10 minutes by taxi to the airport, expect to pay approximately 60 Egyptian pounds for one way, they do try to rip you off, but always agree a price before you get in the taxi. Na'ama Bay was also a 10 minute drive, with lots of bars, nightclubs and shopping mall, and a beach which we sadly never visited. We did go out for a meal in Na'ama Bay for a change of scene and their food is very reasonably priced. We also went to Pacha and Hard Rock Cafe which were brilliant. Alcohol in both places is very expensive if you want international brands, your best bet is to make use of the All Inclusive and leave the hotel later, their nightlife doesn't really start until after midnight. The entertainment at the hotel is adequate, but doesn't last very long, it was good enough if we just wanted an early night. If you are going away for some peace and quiet this is perfect, it is far enough away to not be woken by planes and rowdy groups, but is close enough to have a good night in Na'ama Bay. The men can be very sleazy, we (being two girls) felt safest when going out in the evening with English people we'd met in our hotel. The men working in the hotel however we're not sleazy, they were all very nice and couldn't do enough for you. Old Sharm was horrible, it was dirty and the men were the worst, constantly hassling you. Do not go into a shop and ask the price for something if you have no itentions to buy it. Snorkelling is free if you do it within the hotel, the sea was beautiful, this definately made our holiday. We will most certainly go back to this hotel, the place is beautiful, it was perfect :) Enjoy!!

Fab Holiday

Had a fantastic holiday. Staff so friendly and can't do enough for you. They work so so hard and never fail to smile. There were a couple of slightly miserable looking ones but to be honest i would be with the way some people speak to them! They speak all languages but mostly everyone spoke english whatever their nationalities were. Majority English but also alot of Germans, Danish & Russians. Everyone mingled and they did water polo everyday which lots of people joined in and it was good for people to get to know one another. Snorkelling was good but i'd rather let hubby get on with that!
I was worried that it wouldn't be hot enough in oct but it was scorching. I love the sun and heat but it was hot at around 38, 40deg everyday. I did wonder during the week if they ever see clouds!?
Hotel was spotless and food was fab. Bottled water given out constantly which was great.
Hubby and I did both get poorly tummies but i wouldn't blame this on the hotel. Pharmacy over the road 2mins walk max and got tablets (immodium didn't even touch it) and then was sorted.
We have 2 children which we didn't take and i would think twice about taking them because of the heat and the highly possible chance of getting diarrhoea.
But all in all a truly great holiday and a fantastic hotel with beautiful grounds.
I would book it now!
PS - if you're a blonde female (or just an attractive female) be prepared to have lots of attention, however they're not too over the top but you will get served first at the bars.
PPS - the chef in the itailian resturant looks like Peter Andre!
