Oct 2006, Mr Keith Thompson

We found that all staff could not do enough for you hotel very clean, very nice.
But had a hard time with food, flies, noise, entertainment dire. We had a great holiday the food was not as good as a couple of weeks earlier work colleague said food was great but hotel not full as it was when we stayed.
If they could sort out another dining area and more bar space plus a change in night time entertainment this will be a cracking hotel.
P.S. entertainment the same exactly as last year in hotel down road 5*+.

Oct 2006, Mrs D Hingson

The hotel was very clean and well looked after. Although there is still building work going on around it didn't disturb us. The food was excellent and plenty of variety. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The entertainment could have been better. There were hardly any children when we stayed there which suited us but there was a kids club. I don't think there would be enough there to keep teenagers occupied for an evening. We never had any trouble finding beds by the pools either. I would say that it was mainly Brits when we were there but there were a few Russians. Everyone we spoke to said that they would stay there again and so would we.
There are quite a few stairs at the hotel and it's built on a slope which is fine walking down to the beach and the other bar but it's a hell of a walk back up, if you're not fit check where your room is first.

An absolutely amazing hotel and area....

Sep 2006, Miss JL Collins

An absolutely amazing hotel and area. The Hilton Sharks bay has it's very own private coral reef just 200yards walk from the hotel. The reef itself is out of this world, but more about the hotel first.
The accommodation is beautiful, large spacious rooms with balcony and air conditioning (which was very necessary in 48 degrees!), walk in shower. The room was kept spotless and everyday different creatures were made out of the towels. The hotel reception staff are on hand 24 hours a day to assist you with anything (including booking a taxi). The hotel restaurants served delicious food every evening to cater to every taste. Back to the reef. You can see angel fish that are as bigger than a Jack Russell, parrot fish, moray eels and even a Spanish lady.
I would recommend this hotel and resort to anyone, the staff at the hotel are so friendly, the resident dive club team are there if you wish to scuba or speedboat, children have their own kids club, entertainment fantastic.

Aug 2006, Mrs K F To Be!

My partner and I spent a wonderful week at this hotel in Feb/March 2006. Weather was great, food was wonderful especially breakfast!
The staff are so friendly and polite, nothing is too much trouble. We had the majority of our evening meals in the Italian restaurant, food was superb, in fact as time went by the chef was cooking whatever dish we fancied. The only reason I gave a rating of 9 and not 10 was due to the terrible flight with monarch. We were both so uncomfortable due to the small seats.
The seat formation was 333 and I was in the middle 3 seats. I’m 5ft 1 ish and petite frame but I felt so irritable so if you’re taller than me you have no chance! To be frank we would never fly with monarch again, but we would certainly revisit this lovely hotel!

Jul 2006, Miss L Jones

Me and my fiancé stayed here on our first visit to Egypt, not having traveled to Egypt before we were unsure of what to expect, we need not have worried.
The Sharks Bay is a fantastic complex, it is incredibly clean and the staff are amazing, they work so hard yet remain polite and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble they remember your names and often will sit and chat with you round the pool. I can't praise the staff highly enough!
The food was another worry for us but again there was always something we could eat, the pizza restaurant on the outside terrace makes the best pizza ever.
Tipping is the Egyptian way so be prepared! the airport can be a little intimidating as there is a lot of noise and shouting, You will have to fill in visa's you will also be asked for payment if traveling outside the Sinai, for travelers staying in Sharm you do not have to pay this though the airport staff will not point this out just say no and they will give you the cards to fill in. On leaving the airport ladies the Egyptian men will try to carry your cases, they will then ask for £1 sterling.
Whilst there we went on the city tour trip where you go into the old town and Naama bay, I’d really recommend this if like us you want to see the sights but are wary of venturing out alone. We also went on the lazy day snorkeling trip, I cannot recommend this enough! As a nervous swimmer it was daunting but the guides are excellent they are fully qualified and are kitted out with life jackets etc. It is really unmissable.
The Sharks Bay is an ideal place for couples or small groups of friends there is an entertainment program but generally people stayed round the beach bay or pool bar.
This is the ideal place for a relaxing holiday I would definitely go back again.

This was a FANTASTIC holiday. The hotel is amazing, weather amazing, country amazing. I could not fault this holiday at all. The staff were friendly and helpful, any problems and they would sort them straight away.
We went to the cocktail party with the manager of the hotel, he asked us if they could do anything to improve the hotel, we mentioned the pool leading down to the sunset bar and beach needed a light on it as when it was dark the steps could not be seen, the next day a spotlight was put up!
The All Inclusive feature was brilliant and loved the daily cocktail specials! The food was different everyday and never the same-we were there for 2 weeks and never had the same thing twice! The Egyptian night is fantastic and they go all out! I would go back to this hotel today, I love it and the area around it was just great. Even with all the bombs and trouble I would not hesitate going back tomorrow!
This is a must for everyone! I know people that have stayed here 6 times in 18 months and that says something!

Some of your correspondents whose...

Mar 2006, Mr N Blandford

Some of your correspondents whose praise is slightly stinting must be used to staying at the Savoy or the Ritz! If the Hilton Shark’s Bay does not deserve its four stars, nowhere does.

We stayed for seven nights all-inclusive and found it virtually faultless. It’s immaculately clean, the food is wonderfully varied and the staff are friendly beyond belief.
Above all, the label ‘inclusive’ really does mean exactly that. While staying there, we encountered ‘refugees’ from a neighbouring hotel that was supposedly all-inclusive. “This is paradise by comparison,” they said. They were surprised that not only was all food and drink free 28 hours a day but that even ice cream and crisps were available on demand.
We’d agree with some of your correspondents that the white wine is less than wonderful. But the beer and spirits are palatable – and limitless.
Don’t expect major show time entertainment of an evening, but the animation team do their cheerful best and sometimes, such as with the regular visiting troupe of whirling dancers, the acts are excellent.
However, the ‘star of the show’ is the undersea wildlife which abounds just offshore.
There’s a beach beneath stepped terraces for sunbathing, with a floating jetty running from it to preserve the coral. From there, you flop into the water – and a fishy fantasy opens up. Elsewhere, you’d have to hire a dive boat to see such marine splendour.
Any advice to offer?
(1) Most Egyptians seem to be called Mohammed (of one spelling or another) but catch the eye of Mohamed Hussein, the head waiter who formerly ran Sharm’s best restaurant, and seek the advice of Mohamad Taba, who runs the hotel’s car service. Between them they’ll ensure you dine and sightsee to best effect.
(2) And at the other end of the scale of luxuries, arrive at the airport with some spare lavatory tissue, because you’re unlikely to find it in the toilets there!
Otherwise, ignore the grouchy comments from a small minority of the correspondents on this site and have a great holiday with some very friendly folk.

Jan 2006, Mrs P M Manser

We went to the Hilton Sharks Bay in October 2005 for the second time and had a great time.
The only thing that spoiled it was a bad case of Egypt tummy all four of us came down with it.
The staff are fantastic, the food good and the snorkelling is out of this world I am sure I saw a coelacanth (dodgy spelling) you know that extinct prehistoric fish.
As it was our second visit the staff picked up our name from the computer and upgraded our room every day we would have little gifts left i.e. wine, chocolates, fruit playing cards, pastries etc.
It was my friends birthday and they made her a lovely cake and delivered it to the room, not into big happy birthdays in the dining room.
We had a great time and are looking to go back this year.

Jan 2006, Ms Liudmila Sheremeteva

The hotel was clean, well maintained and the staff all very friendly and helpful. The food was plentiful, but not outstanding.
The weather and sea were amazingly warm (22-28C) for the end of December and the snorkelling was better than anywhere else we have ever been.
We enjoyed the trip to see the pyramids and Egyptian Museum in Cairo, though we did have to be firm with everyone that tries to hustle something from us.
We were very pleasantly surprised to find the souvenir/gift shop in the hotel foyer such good value. Mina who runs it is very friendly and it is well worth a look around and having a go at bargaining.

Jan 2006, Lucia

The diving experience is the main reason I visited sharks bay. Sinai dive club is the resorts host dive operators and they were fantastic.
The food was varied and plentiful in the evenings and for those who are fussy eaters like children you could create your own pizza or pasta!
The staff were amazing, would bend over backwards to help you. The room boy used to leave towel made swans and crocodiles on my bed everyday.
A truly wonderful place to spend a week or two!
I would also recommend the quad bikes for those adventurers out there. Riding off into the desert at sunset really finished off my holiday with memories I won't forget!

Jan 2006, saramara

Clean hotel in all areas and very helpful friendly staff. Our flight was delayed on the way home and whilst we could stay at the hotel longer, Odyssey would not provide an extension to our meal passes.
We had a word with reception who immediately gave permission for us to eat (and drink!) for as long as we were delayed at the hotel, at no cost to ourselves. Plenty of room around pool and relaxing atmosphere. Limited evening entertainment but just the same as most similar hotels we've been to. Good hotel run kids club open nearly all day. Very good value.
I wish those that moan would remember how much they've paid sometimes.

My fiancée and myself have recently...

Dec 2005, Miss K Sutton

My fiancée and myself have recently visited Egypt for the first time and had a wonderful, relaxing, hot holiday. Just want to highlight a few points:
The hotel: - Beautiful grounds and rooms. Immaculate rooms. 3 pools, 1 heated. Daily entertainment around the pool, but you don’t feel pressured into taking part and if you want complete peace keep away from the main pool. Bar great especially because you can swim up to it aswell, could do with a few more manpower though as nothing is a rush. The all inclusive is good There a three choices every night...Italian, hot/cold buffet and a set meal. The only complaint is that if you stay for 2 weeks it can all be abit repetitive. The staff are all really friendly and helpful. The only real complaint we had was the nighttime entertainment, or lack of it! The animation team (as they call it) comprised of 4 people and I have to say they did great considering they worked day and night, but it was poor.
Tour operator: -Fantastic, no problems at all. Very attentive. Rep there virtually every day, twice a day. English very good. Would advise booking Cairo and Luxor through them. And talking of Cairo...awful place. Third world and a real eye opener. I was glad that my partner was with me because I felt quite threatened and scared...especially around the pyramids (which have been spoilt by tourism and the city!) if we had know we would have not gone to see them but would have opted for the valley of the kings instead, where you don’t get harassed.
The resort itself is very new, and Sharm el sheikh is only actually 20 years old. Very touristy and tacky apparently. (Authentic bits of the pyramid...made in china printed on the bottom!) Give it 5 years and the development will be massive.
Great for the airport though, literally 5 minutes but you hear hardly anything. Felt very safe, security everywhere. Diving and snorkelling amazing!!!
To conclude had a brilliant, very peaceful, relaxing holiday. Very good value for money. Lovely and warm, 26-32C every day. But if you are looking for exciting nightlife, its not here!
