Jun 2008, iluvholidays

Just returned after 2 weeks, our first time in Egypt and it won't be the last, the hotel we could not fault it, the food was great with varied menu's for all tastes, and this did include, roat beef and yorkshire puds, the only thing we can complain about is the evening entertainment or the lack of it, the animation team! well it seem to be that they were more interested in getting people into naama bay to all the big clubs,"they must be on commission from these clubs", one night a friday night the so called disco stopped at 10 past 11, alot of people complained, when we asked them what was going on they told us they could not play any music after midnight! obviously while talking to them they had no intrest, unless your a young female with low cut tops and short skirts, the hotel next to us had an open air disco till 2 am, its the lack of entertainment that lets this place down, "ANIMATION TEAM, GET YOUR FINGERS OUT AND GET IT SORTED". the staff i could not praise high enough, the rooms always clean and tidy, we had a small problem with the red ants on our balcony, we phoned reception and they were there within 10 mins sorting it out.
We had a great time, just a shame about the entertainment, or the lack of, we will go back but may choose another hotel in naama bay where you have the choice if you want it livley or quiet

We booked the holiday in Egypt with bated breath as we had only heard mixed reviews but still wanted to go. We had a fantastic time. the staff were great, service could not have been better. the food was always plenty of choice.
the temperature was between 37 and 40 every day. We are planning to go back in November. We have never had such a relaxing holiday.
If you are bitten by ants or mossis, or even sunburnt, there is a shop in the hotel that sells oils, they are fantastic and work much better than any chemical preparation.

My boyfriend and I have just returned...

Jun 2008, Miss L Chapman

My boyfriend and I have just returned from a week at the Hilton and we had a brilliant time! From the moment we arrived the staff couldn't do enough for us - and this continued throughout the week. The only time we ever tipped was on the last day for the cleaner, so I'm not sure why people are saying you only get good service if you tip.
We got up at 8am every day to reserve our sunbeds, and found that although the hotel was quite busy, there were always sunbeds at the beach after lunch time so we would often leave our own towels by the pool and do some snorklling in the afternoon.
We booked a sea view room which was lovely, very clean and a great view over the pool and out to sea.
The food was excellent, - I'm not sure why so many people complain about it, after all, we are in a different country so the food isn't going to be what we're used to. Saying that, there was plenty of choice, with fresh pizzas made in front of you in 'il rustico' if you don't want to try anything different.
The evening entertainment could have been better, as sometimes we felt a little bored, but the cocktails were drinkable and the beer cold!
I would watch out for red ants at night if you go down to the sunset bar near the beach as I have got about 10 bites on each leg!
The snorklling was great - my first time. There were loads of fish that swam quite close!
The weather varied between 36 and 43 during the week so we came back with nice tans!
Overall we had a fantastic week and will probably be back next year!

What a cracking holiday!! Travelled...

Jun 2008, Mr I Welch

What a cracking holiday!! Travelled with wife and two kids 15 and 17 and we had seperate rooms. bliss. Clean rooms, but no view, but then you don't stay in your room. the food was really good 4lbs heavier now. the staff are extremely friendly, thank you guys. Snorkelling is great and we booked the boat to tiran island and it had just two other people on it. superb. We also went for the trial dive which again was fantastic.
some minor gripes, I found the sunbeds a bit uncomfortable, maybe thay could have those ones with cushions next time and the biggest of them all. People putting towels on the beds from 06:00. Totally un necessary. they should get the towel captain to take you to your bed as they do in other hotels. also we must have changed the card key about 5 times as they often didn't work. Overall excellent though

May 2008, Miss L Roberts

My fiance and I have just returned from the Hilton Sharks and had a very relaxing hoilday, the best hoilday by far. After a long journey you are welcomed by friendly staff to greet you on arrival.A porter escorts you to your room and carries your bags we gave him a small tip for this.
Restaurants were clean and staff pleasant and helpful. Good choice of food but dont expect traditional english dishes. The chill out bar and sunset bar were very relaxing on a evening with various entertaintment on again very friendly staff.
Relaxing by the pool was great quiet and various activities on to keep you entertained all though you did need to get up early to get a sunbed.
Rooms were nice and clean, room cleaners left towels in various animals and hearts for us which was a nice touch, satellite tv in rooms with plenty of english speaking channels.
suitable for couples young and old, staff were great with the kids from what we could see, would definitley go back next year.

Just returned from The Hilton at...

Just returned from The Hilton at Sharks Bay.
AWESOME.... lovely hotel the food was great, all sorts to choose from every meal & the staff are all very friendly & helpful, nothing is to much trouble.
There are large cool boxes with ice placed around the complex with bottles of water in them so bottled water is always available.
The only bad bit was the Thomas Cook rep.... he is utterly useless (but he is not employed by Hilton and their own staff made up for it).

Wow!! Have just returned from a fabulous week in Sharm El Sheikh-Hilton Sharks Bay. I had pretty high expectations prior to arriving in Egypt, and to be honest I was quite concerned that I was expecting too much. However my concerns flew out the window on arrival at the Hilton Sharks Bay resort, a fantastic hotel that is located near to the airport and also accessible to Na'ama Bay which is just down the road. The staff were excellent and made my holiday special-they could not do enough to please you, nothing was ever too much trouble...and it all came with a friendly smile too! The facilities at the hotel were excellent and I have to say I was never bored during my stay! My only caution is that you will come back about a stone heavier!!
Excellent holiday-I will return! :-)

Apr 2008, Mrs S Glynn

Returned 2 days ago from an enjoyable holiday with my 23 year old daughter. Unfortunately, I disregarded the rep's warnings to avoid the tomatoes and I am now suffering with the violent stomach cramps and diahroiea.
Snorkelling is good and my daughter enjoyed the paragliding.
There were several British families there but mainly Russian and Italian. Neither caused us any bother but we picked up the distinct feeling that Egyptians do not like dealing with Russians.
No problems with mosquitoes and the place itself is clean.
The food was reasonable although the selection was a bit strange. Bottled water and drinks freely available.
The staff were very helpful but pestered my daughter a bit...more sharks on land then in the sea! The tour guides were briliant...well worth tipping.
I'd definitely return to Sharm El Sheik.

This was our second time to Sharm El...
10 / 10
Mar 2008, Mr S Carr

This was our second time to Sharm El Sheikh, we stayed as a couple between 11th & 18th Oct`
ARRIVAL AT SHARM AIRPORT
As usual, the queues are very long for passport control, tourist visa cards & baggage reclaim.
Although we didn’t need a visa, we found ourselves stuck in same queues as everybody else, as the airport is classed as a military airport, holiday reps` are not allowed to enter the building, so you’re on your own until you exit the building
we struggled getting our luggage some 200 yards to our coach, I was just about to load our luggage when suddenly a local guy appeared & started loading them for us then asked for a tip, after struggling getting luggage to the coach, no way was I tipping him, just for loading them.
From the point of landing to driving away from the airport took over 2 hrs
THE HOTEL
Check in was dealt with swiftly & luggage delivered to our ground floor room no`908 all done within 10 minutes, according to the management, quests consist of 95% British, the rest seem to be tacky Russians
Room was typical for a 4star Hotel, TV, air con, tea/coffee making facilities, walk in shower & a not so powerful hair dryer
The main Pool is heated to 25c this area gets very busy with music playing all day, there’s another pool towards the beach that’s a lot quieter, ideal for sleeping or reading a book.
Shuttle bus to Naama Bay leaves the hotel every hour starting 6.00pm & leaves Naama Bay (outside Hotel Hilton Fayrouz) at every hour starting 6.30pm price is 15LE each way
As for Mosquito’s, we didn’t have a problem or use any repellents, but we did see people with arms & legs absolutely covered in bites, seems they are choosey on who they gorge on, fly’s can also a problem here.
during our time here, there wasnt any building works going on.
FOOD
All restaurants & the chillout bar are now no smoking areas
As usual with all inclusive hotels, we found the choice of food a little repetitive.
For ordering drinks in the buffet restaurants, we found the waiter service is extremely slow.
Almost every night the waiter would ask us what we wanted to drink, just as we were leaving!
Although I ate just about everything on offer while the wife ate salads twice a day, we didn’t suffer the dreaded Sharm sh~#s so that was a nice relief
You must try the pizzas at the pizza bar, these are gorgeous.
Or try the Shisha Pipe above the Sunset Bar in a mock Beduin Tent
the staff are very helpfull, you name it, they will sort it out for you
THE BEACH
This is where we spent most of our time, tip the guys who handout the Towels & he will reserve your chosen sun lounger every morning.
Temp was between 34-36c with a nice sea breeze, sea temp was 24c lookout for the 3 resident Lion fish under the floating jetty, the reef is very nice with lots of surgeon fish, trigger fish, parrot fish, butterfly fish, damsel fish, even a blue spotted ray.
Although there are signs warning quests not to walk on the reef, I did notice reef killers are still at large, walking & standing on the reef, every day while snorkelling, I would return to the jetty with at least 4 plastic carrier bags & 4-5 plastic cups that have been discarded on the reef by who knows.
SCUBA DIVING
Sinai Divers are the resident dive company at this hotel
[--] book online & save 10% even though I’ve been diving for 14 years, they insisted my first dive was some sort of refresher dive, so there I am at 12mtrs flooding & clearing my mask, buoyancy test, regulator recovery & buddy sharing air, before they let me loose on the reef, bit of a con I think, just to get more money out of me.
Although there’s plenty of reefs in this area, there’s only 2 local reefs to dive on, White Night & Ras Bob, they also do night dives & Nitrox is available
the reefs of Tiran island is a must dive, gordon reef & jackson reef are fantastic.
Visa required for Ras Mohammed.
Would we return to this Hotel, already booked & paid, going on 3rd April 2008

Mar 2008, Mrs L Walmsley

What a fantastic place to stay, we visited in March 2008 for our honeymoon and it was the best holiday we have ever had. No amount of words will do the hotel justice. For a four star rating we couldn't complain. The food was varied and very yummy, hence returning home a stone heavier, the entertainment team were great however towards the end of week two we were a little bored. The 'Animation' team who provided activities during the day were excellent and looked after our every need from football to water polo and much more. The Hilton provides something for everyone, and the staff stop at nothing to make your stay enjoyable. The quad biking is a must especially if you get to see the sun set in the evening. The snorkling is awesome and not what I expected, I read a lot of reviews about the coral reef but they didnt prepare me for what I saw. So many different fish in all shapes and sizes, and lots of amazing colours.
Thank you to all at the Hilton

we are going back for the third time...
10 / 10
Mar 2008, Mrs W Chandler

we are going back for the third time this week , if we could give it 20 out of 10 we would
the staff are always friendly and helpful , the rooms are cleaned everyday and if you tip your cleaner you will get amazing towel sculptures
the food is pretty good for all inclusive and in the evening once you are seated you can get your food from any of the restaurants , but if you want the set menu you have to be downstairs but you dont have to have it ,so you can always find something , and there is plenty of it
the snorkeling from the beach is fantastic as there is a large coral reef on their beach and the different types fish you see can not be counted , we have snorkeled and dived in mexico and because we enjoyed it we thought we would give the red sea a go and we have been blown away , not sure we will holiday anywhere else now , both times staying at the hilton in sharks bay
can't comment on the entertainment as during the day we are in the sea and to tired to stay up in the evening although we have watched a couple of shows in the bar and they were pretty good

Mar 2008, moodynight

We have just returned from a half term holiday at the Hilton Sharks Bay. When we arrived we were asked if we wanted an upgrade, refused and we got lovely interconnecting rooms. Very clean. The food was excellent and none of us had "pharoahs revenge". No problems getting drinks all day and ice creams at the pool bar were nice. Would definately recommend the trip by air to Cairo, we had one guide to 8 people, dinner on the nile and the pyramids at Giza were fantastic.
