Basic but okay
from pooh&boo
The hotel was very basic. the rooms where clean and presentable but extremly small and by the end of the week we felt like two hampsters in a cage. We also faced a wall and some olive trees that just attracted the wasps. We had one meal at the hotel which was okay and we ate out for the other 6 nights. The breakfast was the worst part of the holiday as in the end we didn't bother getting up. All you got was tea or coffee, bread, butter, jam, horrible cereal, goat milk and if you are lucky a piece of cheese. (If you go B&B Dont as it's better to pop down the front and get something more apertising then what's given) There was never enough sunloungers so it was a fight to get the last one. If you like a late drink in the bar, don't bother as anything like a coctail was out of the question after 11pm as the night porter had no idea, but he was a sweet man. The best place we found that was near was a fish restaurant that was along the beach towards no where, you come to one fish restaurant which had great views as you sit on the front and you can watch the sunset. The next fish restaurant was better but is a further walk up a beaten track. (TAKE A TORCH) Becareful of the wasps as they are everywhere. Also they are some horrible lizards that are harmless but will make you jump if you are anything like me. If you like a bit of hustle and bustle then Sidari is the nearest place to go and if you like your fish or lobster then go to Pesce Fresco which is a taverna in outer of the town over little bridge with ducks in it. Also a fab cheap Italian restaurant that was surperb. You must go on Theo's Boat BBQ It was a highlight to our holiday and it is a must. It cost us 78 Euros for the two of us with a proper BBQ on a beautiful sandy beach., Worth every penny. We had a great holiday but we would never return to Theo's. Everything else made our holiday not the hotel or people.

Certain factual aspects of the report are misleading and not representative. All rooms are taken by Thomsons on a B&B basis and the hotel rating, type of breakfasts, situation etc are shown in that Company's brochure and web-site. The rooms are of standard size for the rating. Unfortunately just 3 rooms out of the 31 do face the rear of the hotel but are only allocated after the others are taken.
The "Continental greek-style breakfast" which is included in the package holiday price is approved (and cost limited) by the Tour Operator. However we have gone further and extended the basic requirements at our own expense. Our breakfasts, which are buffet style will usually include freshly baked bread from a nearby village bakery, butter, choice of jams, honey, cereals, cold meat, yoghurt, cheeses, and fresh fruit when available. Alternatively some guests will purchase cooked full breakfasts at very reasonable prices. Breakfasts finish at 10.am and late risers may have to visit other eating places.
The bar is open 24 hours a day for drinks but noisy or rowdy behaviour is not allowed after midnight for the sake of other sleeping guests. The bar and lounge are usually very active until at least 12 p.m and one of the owners is always present until the night porter comes on duty at that time. Many guests sit chatting and drinking well after midnight.
Thomsons brochures and several web-sites clearly describe the peaceful nature of the resort and guests should know what to expect. However Thomsons "Late deal" holidays who are "Allocated on Arrival" at the airport sometimes unfortunately find that the allocations do not fit the people to the place !
The hotel has won Thomsons Gold Award for 13 consecutive years based on guests reports and is almost always full. We enjoy a large proportion (over 50% some weeks) of returning guests and many of these are in the categories shown as "not suitable for" !
The little hotel with a big heart

We have just returned from a 7 night break at the Hotel Theo. As soon as we arrived at reception Theo made us feel welcome it was like becoming a member of a new family! Although the rooms were basic and the bathroom very small it was adequate considering it's classed as a small and friendly Hotel. The only drawback was the lack of a hook to hang the shower head on the wall, a towel rail, and an addition of chairs in the room would of been nice. The option of eating in the restaurant was a treat in itself as the food and service was superb. Everyone seemed to get along with one another and Theo always made sure you had a seat in the evening and were not left out. We even had a bat come into the bar one evening and a hornet in the restaurant which added to the excitement. All in all it was a lovely relaxing break in a nice laid back resort and we will certainly be returning in the future. D&L Swaffham, Norfolk.
A Very Nice Experience

This hotel is one of those places that once you've been there, you will want to return. I read all the reviews before booking and it was obvious that people return time and time again so I thought it must be good. Well we were'nt disappointed, and although the rooms are basic and small you soon adapt to your surroundings. The hosts Theo and Elena are very warm and welcoming and the food is by far the best on the island. We have been to corfu many times but have yet to find food as nice as what Elena's mum cooks. The walk to the beach is a ten minute stroll away and consists of several tavernas. Try the hotdogs in the Katoi bar, for 4 euros you get the biggest sausage, wrapped in bacon served with onions, tomato and lettuce in a roll that takes some eating. If you go to the beach on the right hand side look for the Panorama Taverna by Aristos supermarket for a really good cheap menu which is ideal to spend an hour away from the beach and enables a spot of people watching. Getting back to the hotel! Theo is a whisky expert and has a vast selection of fine malts and often likes to share one with you "Free of charge". Elena is very hospitable and witty and appreciates a bit of banter. Both are very nice genuine people who will do all to make your stay enjoyable. The resort is very quiet so don't expect wild nights and disco bars or karaoke. If you truly want to unwind and enjoy good food then the Theo Hotel is a must. I will mention though that the walk back from the beach will get the lungs working as it is a bit of a steep climb in parts, but you can reward yourself with a nice drink in the bar back at the hotel. I would rate this as one of the friendliest hotels we've ever stayed at in Greece.
Friendly Small Hotel in an Unspoilt resort
from Janet_A
Booked a cheap week with Thomson in the resort of Agios Georgios North West in Corfu after reading various reviews on various sites. We had a fantastic hliday, for the princely sum of £642 for the two of us for the hotel, flights and transfers, and the flights were at lovely times - 0830 outbound, 1430 returning, landing at 1540. Flights left and landed early both times. Theo's is a small (30-ish?) rooms in a lovely quiet location set about 800 metres from the beach, with a bus stop right outside. Hotel is up a slight incline, with the last 100 metres being slightly steeper, but all on a tarmac road that is well-lit at night. The rooms were very clean but basic as is common for Greece - tile floors, simple furnishings, but clean, sweet smelling towels and linen, ample wardrobe and a lovely patio area, most with stunning views of the verdant Corfiot countryside. The bathroom was very small, which didn't bother me too much, but was more of an issue for my 6ft 1" partner, however, you don't spend that much time in there! The size of the room is the only reason I haven't given Theo's 5 stars. Breakfast - you would never go hungry but it did get a little 'samey' after a while - bread, yoghourt, muesli, honey, tea, coffee, orange squash, fruit cocktail and cold meats (the last two not every day). However, you could order a 'full English' if you wanted to, and these were on offer everywhere in the resort if you want to sit by the beach for breakfast. Saying that, Theo's restaurant has stunning views of the sea, and countryside. Owners and staff - all extremely friendly and helpful. Not surprisingly, people return year after year and the hotel has won many awards from Thomson. Pool - lovely pool with great views and its own snack bar open 12-4. Hotel bar - open 24 hours Exchange - Theo and Elena will change money for you, and no commission, and it worked out at 1.4 Eu to the £ while I was there, which was better than the 1.42 Eu plus £2.99 commission I paid in England and much easier. We did this because there was no cashpoint (ATM) in Agios Georgios, nearest one in Agros, 5k away but we didn't hire a car and we ran out of time to walk there, though it's achievable. Resort - not the liveliest but fabulous beach and views and just what we wanted. Liveliest bar we found was the Katoi, and despite my advancing (!) years I enjoyed chilling to some Euphoric music watching the fantastic sunsets. This was the first time we didn't have ONE duff meal on a Greek island, although I would say there were less 'Greek' restaurants, but it was a lot cheaper than I expected - the walk to the Fisherman's Taverna (not Benie's but the far one) was worth it, with a meal for two from 25 Euros - we spent 50 but we went the whole hog and that was the most we spent, the cheapest meal was 25 Euros for two, including wine, starters, mains, desset). Recommend the Moonlight Restaurant just down the road from the hotel, and the Symposium halfway down the resort, and the Katoi bar for the Schulmberger lager which was excellent. Walking - we did some spectacular walks, including about 16 miles in total on one day, up to Angelokastro via Makrades, Prinilas and Pagi on the way back. Superb views - consult www.agiosgeorgios.co.uk to see for yourself!
Excellent small and friendly hotel

After 12 visits we always find Theo's Hotel much more than than a place to stay. It is more like a big friendly house and in a lovely spot with great views. The rooms are just right for the rated Class and are always well cleaned. The home cooked traditional Greek food is lovely and Theo's pizzas are out of this world. It is B&B basis (Continental breakfasts) but the choice of food laid out for breakfasts is far more than we have found elsewhere. The pool is an absolute dream for a dip or relaxing with a book, always clean with glorious views. The bar and lounge atmosphere is great with a few locals and ex-staff popping in for a drink or a meal. For entertainment the weekly Greek night is lovely without being rowdy.

2 weeks at Hotel Theo
from A TripAdvisor Member
I had a fab two weeks at Hotel Theo, the people were so friendly. Our room was very clean, the cleaners came everyday, but it was small and basic. Our bathroom was also tiny, but it was ok. The breakfast was uninspiring and lacked variety. The pool area was very clean, but there was only a few comfortable sunbeds, the rest were hard plastic ones!! The Greek night was really fun, if you stay at the hotel you should definetly go to it and join in. The resort was great, there were some lovely place to eat in great beach front locations. The food was really tasty. The Butterfly Bar was great =) Nearby Arrillas beach was lovely and sandy so if you have a car you should go there. You should also definetly visit Corfu Town.
So Friendly

Been to this hotel over 20 times. Fantastic atmosphere, very friendly, but not intrusive. You can chill out on your own or enjoy the company of Theo , his wife Elena and their family. The food is the best in the area. Once a week you are entertained by Greek music and dancing. The rooms are spotlessly clean, and the walks to local villages sceinic. The beach is a 10 minute stroll away. Theo and Elena are happy to discuss, and direct you to areas of interest, and will even arrange transport to those further away. An ideal hotel situated in an ideal location if you are looking for a relaxing time.

We have visited Theo's Hotel 6 times now and many guests return even more times. Set in the small uncommercialised resort of beautiful Agios Georgios North all guests are impressed by the friendly homely atmosphere. Lovely traditional home cooked Greek food and a beautiful pool. Only opened 10 years ago the Hotel has won Thomsons Gold Award, based on guests reports, for the last 9 years! Theo has his own web page.
Small hotel with about 30 rooms set in lovely hillside overlooking olive groves. Rectangular swimming pool located above hotel, up some steps and a steep path. Theo's is run by Theo and Elena. Friendly and attentive service. Nothing is too much trouble. Good food and... more
