Holiday Inn Hotel JFK Airport

The hotel is old and needs maint. The reception staff and shuttle staff are unfriendly The hotel offered online breakfast menu/order. After waiting for 1 hour for breakfast it turned out that the hotel staff and management don’t know about the Holiday Inn online ordering system! Finally they told us that the system works only in other Holiday Inn Hotels! we re-ordered and got an excellent breakfast (2 hours late) On the plus side, the rooms are specious and clean

It is true that most hotels in the area are nothing to write home about, but the Holiday Inn is in a class by itself ("D" for depressing and dirty). The only this it has going for it is the friendliness of its staff. Dare to step off the taxi and you'll notice the bullet-scarred revolving door, and inside, the dirty upholstery and the overpowering stench of decades of cigarrette smoke. Stayed in this hotel 1 night 12th April. Flight arrived from London at 22.00 and got out of the airport by 23.00. Went to collection point and was told the coache would be around in a few minutes. About 10 of us waiting. 1/2 hour later still no show. Another coache to us. Arrived at hotel at about 23.45 and then stood in a queue for nearly 2 hours. Stayed here for one night whilst on business trip the title sums it up! I know we British are notoriously hard to please but this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in thank goodness it was only one night!! Scuba Diva

My husband and I had the opportunity to stay at the Holiday Inn at 144-02 135th Avenue Jamaica, New York 11436 and it was by far the best hotel I have stayed at in New York for the price. We visit New York often and we never want to pay an outrageous amount just to visit family. The rooms were a nice size and very clean. In 8 years of event planning, working with hotels from coast to coast and every type of hotel, this is by far the worst hotel I have ever had to deal with.

I needed a somewhat inexpensive hotel in the JFK area, and ended up making a last-minute reservation at the Holiday Inn JFK (not Holiday Inn Express) on the morning of my stay. The hotel offers complimentary shuttle service to/from JFK Airport throughout the day (and LaGuardia three times a day). Just happened to read a review that stated the staff was on strike in July of 2006. I stayed at this hotel in November of 2004, and the staff was on strike. Looks like the hotel has had a few issues with the staff in the last few years. I stayed one night on a layover and spend much of the night listening to the pot banging and whistle blowing going on outside. Stay away.

NOT TO BE CONFUSED with the Holiday Inn Express (which is HORRIFIC!!). Have stayed in several of the JFK-area hotels -- the Holiday Inn JFK & the adjacent Hampton Inn (w/upgraded rooms) is the best. Surrounding area is residential & not great, but if you stay in the hotel and take taxi's around, it's fine. The BEST part of the stay, however, if you can get there on a Thursday night, is the karaoke. This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The staff was very rude and often insulting to the customers. Our room flooded from water that leaked through the floor from above and when I called to report the problem, I was hung up on not once, but twice. The phone would not make calls outside of the hotel and the shuttle bus driver verbally abused a female passenger until she gave him a tip. The hotel was dirty and had trash in the elevators and the furniture was stained and often broken. Do not stay here.
