Clarion Hotel LaGuardia Airport

This hotel is not very clean or nice. For the cost, find somewhere to stay in the city if at all possible. We pricelined a hotel in chelsea for the same price we paid for this place because our flight got in late. I wish we had just found a cab into the city because as expensive as hotels are in the city, it's money well-spent not to stay here.

US Air had an 'equipment problem' that left us stranded in New York. They gave us a room at the Clarion. The lobby is 'functional' - the same way a high school cafeterial is functional. On top of this, halls and public areas are worn and a bit tattered. Our room was somewhat larger than the full size bed it contained. It was warn. The TV was glitchy. Our flight was cancelled last minute in the evening and we needed a place to stay - what a waste of money. This was terrible. They did not honor a single thing arranged through our travel agent just a half hour before. The room stank, the lobby smelled and they had some kind of bar / eating facility right there in the lobby and it was roudy. Couldn't wait to get out of there the next morning and will NEVER go back. I booked a room here through the Clarion website for the Park and Fly option. I'm 99% sure I clicked on Park and Fly first. I booked a double room. When I got there, he told me that my confirmation didn't indicate it was the Park & Fly package and I would have to pay $70 more. I didn't feel there was anything I could do at 9 PM. Save your money! If you sleep on the floor at the airport you will at least feel safe, it won't stink, the TV will work, the bathrooms are clean, there is heat and it is quieter. The staff at the airport will ignore you just like the Clarion staff does so keep your money in your purse and just hang out at the airport for the night. You'll be much better off.

A co-worker and myself had to stay here when our flight got canceled and this was the only thing we could find under $400. It was awfulf. Dirty, smelly, paper thin walls. To top it off, a mouse ran in my room from under the hallway door. They gave me another room, I shoved a towel under the door to keep him from getting into my new room. DON'T STAY HERE!!! Scary.

The room was dirty and smelled like urine. The bathroom was also dirty and the toilet malfunctioned. When I tried contacting the front desk, I was put on hold for 10 minutes. Avoid if at all possible.

Due to constantly changing plans we chose this hotel to be close to what our needs were. I know that hotels near airports usually arent recommended, but this one was above average in all aspects. We arrived to find friendly and helpful front desk employees who had initially assigned us a first floor room. Upon seeing our luggage cart which was nearly overflowing, she called us back to the desk to reassign us to a second floor room so we could use the elevator. Worst hotel I've ever stayed in. While the lobby seems OK, there was pornography playing on one of the lobby TV sets. We quickly ushered our kids upstairs to find a dark, dirty hallway and a very worn looking room that smelled. I wouldn't stay here again even if it were free.

Until staying here, I have had good luck with Choice Hotels, especially comfort Suites and a few nicer Comfort Inns. Choice does have a great frequent guest program so I have been staying at more Choice hotels......but this place was just terrible and got me thinking about moving my hotel preference back to Courtyard or other Hilton / Marriott properties.
