Bedford Hotel

A friend and I stayed here for 5 nights from 10th Nov. We arrived at the hotel to discover that the room only had one bed, rather than the twin we'd booked. Although the reception staff were somewhat disinterested, I spoke to the Sales Manager on the 'phone and she agreed to get it sorted for me. Although that night meant me sleeping on a fold-away bed, we were moved the following morning to a bigger, better room which housed a box of truffles and a letter of apology. My teenage daughter and I stayed at the Bedford in November 2004. We had a very large room with a queen bed and a great view. The hotel staff were very helpful concerning anything we asked. There was a 24 hour diner around the corner, and a Starbucks across the street. We ate at the diner twice, after 11pm. We walked home from the theatre very late and felt safe doing so. We stayed here in June 2004 at and found the accomodation comfortable. It was clean and had no problem with the room. The staff at the hotel were friendly. The hotel was also in a great location, grand central station was 5 mins away, we could see the Empire State Building from our hotel window and this was also only a short walk. The bus that you can catch which picks you up from and to the airport is only round the corner. Would definately choose this as a place to stay when I go back to New York!

My daughter and I stayed at the Bedford Hotel from November 2, 2004 to November 4, 2004. The hotel has a charming and inviting lobby and the hotel staff was very friendly. The best thing about the hotel is its location. It is nestled between Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue on East 40th Street. Great midtown location. Just a few minutes by foot to Grand Central Station. Yes, the decor of the rooms are outdated...but the room was comfortable and we had everything we needed. We stayed 6 nights in the Bedford,2 adults and 2 children in a suite. OK, the furniture and fittings were a bit faded but the room was comfortable,clean, and had all the facilities we needed.I mean you're hardly going to stay in your room all day in a place like New York surely? With Bloom's diner on the corner we would have no hesitation in booking this Hotel for our next visit.

My friend and i stayed at the Bedford for 5 days. The hotel was very nice, the staff very helpful, especially when my friend became ill and we needed a doctor. It is quite central and within easy walking distance of 5th Ave and Grand Central Stn. Am looking to stay there again soon. Well done.

Have just returned from a great time in New York. After reading some of the previous reviews was a bit apprehensive about staying at the Bedford. We found our rooms to be very spacious although I do have to agree they could do with updating, but they were clean, had loads of room and the little kitchenette was handy, although didn't cook on it. We have just returned from a busy week in New York. The Hotel was in a good location, our room was a 1 bed suite, it was a good size and clean. The staff were freindly. Our only concern was that the room was in desperate need of an update, the carpet had an odd smell and the bathroom was very 70's. We would not return unless it had been throughly modernised.

Excellent service, good clean room and great location for the price. Will be on my favs list. Recommend highly!

The rooms at the Bedford are a good size, and having the refrigerator/microwave/coffeemaker in the room is a great money saver for breakfast, lunch and snacks. Yes, the furniture is older and the in-room safe didn't work, but the place was clean and the staff extremely helpful. The restaurant delivery guide in the room clued me in to Fagiolini, a wonderful casual Italian restaurant with very reasonable dinner prices (entrees $10-$15) and excellent food that was just around the corner on Lexington and 39th.
