A great location especially for the families easy to get to the slopes! Hotel clean and tidy but rooms basic.
There is no hairdryer, soaps, or shampoos etc., which you would sometimes expect! Rooms are cleaned daily with fresh towels.
The restaurant offers a good selection of food with the half board basis. A choice of a starter, main meal and a large selection of desserts from the buffet selection. Breakfast is also a good selection from the buffet. Staff were attentive also.
Ski school is fantastic highly recommended very patient and relaxed teachers!
Ski hire is next to the hotel, as are the gondolas etc. Two bars nearby very reasonably priced. e.g., chips 2 Euros. hot drinks 2.50 Euros etc., The village does not offer a lot, if you don’t want to ski.
One bar recommended is the Shakespeare bar, fun but not too lively, kids welcome and live bands sometimes with very good music! A few restaurants, only one souvenir shop but quite pricey with not a lot of choice. Good supermarkets spar and large local. Overall great place for families, if you want to ski or snowboard, and want a little peace!!

We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the nursery slopes and ski schools, and we were very glad we did! As first time skiers we hadn't appreciated the difficulty of lugging skis, poles etc around, and staggering around in ski boots (for our 6-year old as well!). The hotel's location is ideal for beginners, and the ski hire shop is right next to it, as well as the gondola station.
Other hotels in the village are further away and necessitate getting a bus to the slopes, which is free but busy at peak times. The Hotel Rauriserhof (used by Crystal) seemed very nice and quite luxurious, but is at the far end of the village and a good 20 minute walk away, or bus ride. The village is quiet and ideal for families wishing for a peaceful holiday.
The hotel was comfortable, not luxurious, and very very clean as you would expect from the Austrians (room tidied, cleaned and towels replaced every day). It had a swimming pool, which was chilly, and sauna area (off-limits to children). One minor complaint from me was the room didn't have a hair-dryer.
Meals were generous - buffet breakfast with hot and cold dishes, and salad bar/dessert bar in evening with main courses. There was a choice of 2 starters and 2 main courses every evening, which you select in the morning. Note that it's very meat-orientated, and vegetarians were not well catered for.
We went with Neilson, who tout Rauris as one of their family resorts, but the young rep did not have a clue about children's activities and organised things for grown-ups, like bowling.
In summary, we enjoyed our holiday and would recommend it to other families on their first skiing holiday. Singles and advanced skiers might find the village a bit quiet and the skiing more limited.

Hotel is extremely convenient as it is next to the nursery slopes, gondola and ski hire.
The rooms and food were good enough. If you want a single occupancy room, then you will pay a supplement and will probably be given a very small room for one person.
Good enough for the job, but why you have to pay more is beyond me.
It is a family orientated resort and we had no problems with rowdiness or late night noise.
There isn't much in the town for the late night party animal, thank goodness. But if you want to go to bed later than 9 p.m. there is a small bar called Shakesbeer, which has a good variety of music, at the right volume, so you can actually speak to your colleagues as well.
If you go as a group and want to sit together at meal times, then let them know in advance otherwise you will be allocated a table for your room number and it may be difficult to change.
A good variety of slopes. I would go again, no problem.

This Resort is absolutely fantastic for first time skiers and families alike. Hotel is ideally suited for the Ski school, ski hire shop and the main Gondola to the upper slopes, being a 30 second walk away from the afore mentioned facilities. No need to use the ski bus at all from this location.
Hotel was excellent overall Food ample, hot and tasty. Rooms clean, beds comfortable with fresh towels supplied every day. Staff all friendly and eager to please.
Hotel has an indoor pool, sauna and solarium free to residents. Ski school instruction was superb, (Karl Meir school), lessons between 1000-1200hrs and then 1330-1500hrs. Floodlit tobogganing a must (on Monday and Thursdays), several excellent mountain restaurants serving delicious food at very reasonable prices.
Ski runs well looked after, with the majority being blue or red with a couple of black runs. We had fantastic snow conditions and would certainly return here again. Nightlife limited to a few bars in the middle of the village, (a 5mins walk from the Hubertus) but absolutely no rowdiness or late night noise.
Overall, the resort is ideal for beginners and families due to the superb ski school facilities available. Excellent.
