" Can a single 42 year old enjoy Paleo alone? "

It was my third trip to Paleo, my 2nd to Aphrodite studios. I think as I was travelling alone this time the friendliness of Magda, Stathis, Elizabeth and Antonis really stood out. They couldnt do enough for you and were always cheery and welcoming. I was never really lonely. The appartments had been revamped since I last visited. They were nicely done as they always were but still inkeeping with their 'Greekness' and with the addition of Air con too!! Bonus.... I would reccomend Aphrodite to those who wnat to feel as they are part of an extended family, not just a tourist but a respected friend or friend in the making.

Advice: Scenic/friendly

" Fantastic relaxing holiday "

We had an amazing holiday that suited every member of my family ( kids 10,14,16).
Magda and the rest of her staff at Aphroditi couldn't have done any more to improve our stay we will defintely recommend it to all our friends & family and return another year.
The 2 bedded apartment was spacious and clean. The pool & bar area attractive and welcoming. Although the beach was a 25 min walk along a fairly busy road there was access to the sea via the Acapulco bar next door which more than ticked the boxes for us.
There are many places to eat along the road into Paleo
We would highly recommend this place to you all.

Advice: No real centre but spread along 5 bays so beautiful coastline.

Activities: Hire a boat for the day, snorkelling & swimming in the crystal clear waters.

Good for: Beach

" Lovely People, Great Place! "

We stayed in one of the appartments which looks out onto the pool near the bar.
For the time of year we had superb weather throughout our holiday apart from 1 day of rain but who can moan at that!
The apartment was kept very clean for the whole week and the lovely staff who look after the bar and appartments were always helpful and gave great entertainment through the evenings. Bar closes when last person goes to bed!
We hired a quad bike for the day which was great fun although we had the misfortune of ours breaking down near end of day. However it got us up some steep hills with a few hairy moments, lol. Also hired a boat for around 50 Euros plus fuel and that gave us 3 hours in a 30hp speed boat. Gave usa chance to see the island from a different view and also fast and fun!
Spiros is a beautiful restaurant just down the road from the apartments and the food and service is wonderful. Do try the greek specialities as they are mouth watering.
We would jump at the chance to go back again to the same resort.
Overall a great relaxing holiday with plenty to see and do if you have the transport. Friendly locals and wonderful food. ENJOY

" paleo in october "

we booked this holiday at the last minute and had reservations as to how good it would be. we had never waited this late before and didnt really like the idea of not having alot of information untill we arrived.
we flew with monach and got all you expect from cheap flights.we arrived at 5.00 am local time and was met by our olympic rep. after getting on the coach we had a small journey lasting about 45 minutes then we arrived at the aphrodite in paleokastritsa. we had a short nap and then went walkies. due to the time of the year alot of the resort was closed but we rented a car and went on a few excursions that were still on. the place is beutifull and peacefull and with the car we went to sadari, dassia, corfu town and others and really dicoverd corfu. the hotel was basic but clean and well kept, elizabeth was very helpfull and full of knowledge. our rep nikki was also great and she even gave us a lft to the other side of the resort to change some money to save us the walk in the afternoon heat.
In all we would recomend the hotel and the resort but if you like to be kept busy we would suggest going early october so there is more to do.and renting a car from the rep is the best thing ever as you can make your own plans. will be going back next year for sure

Weather good considering its rainy season.
We stayed at Aphroditi apartments, which were basic, although were kept clean to high standards. Cleaner came in every other day. Linen changed twice weekly.
The staff very friendly. Beautiful scenery. Highly recomended for anyone looking for relaxing holiday. Night life low key.

" We have just returned from Paleo,... "

We have just returned from Paleo, Corfu (July) and the weather was very hot. We stayed at the Aphroditi Apartments, which although were basic, the apartments were kept clean throughout with linen changes twice weekly. The owners (Elizabeth and Magda) were genuine and lovely and helped whenever it was needed. My husband had a problem with his hearing and Elizabeth's husband drove us to the local pharmacy which we thought was very endearing. The resort of Paleo is quite hilly and it would not be the best choice for the less mobile. Buses run to Corfu town and it costs around 2 euros each way (half hour). Taxi back would set your around 35 euros, so it is worth considering making friends to go with, to share the cost. The beaches and scenery are breathtaking. The water can feel quite cold, even in July, but refreshing and clear. The restaurants near to the apartments are very good (Spiros and Oasis) especially as the service and staff were fantastic. Cost of a meal for two would range between 25 and 40 euros, depending on the amount you drink with your meal. The drinks I found were quite expensive, but that is the case now when you are abroad. A beer and Vodka with coke will set you back around 8 euros. Hiring of boat taxis can be a little on the costly side, depending which beach you want to go to. It can cost between 10 euros for the nearest beach to 70 euros for the furthest. We also walked up into the mountain to a village called Lakones, it took an hour to reach it and in the heat it was quite a challenge, but the views across the bays were fantastic and the walk back was down hill. Overall a brilliant holiday.

" Wonderful resort. Beautiful scenery.... "

Wonderful resort. Beautiful scenery. Heavy on the walking. Great night life. Peaceful and relaxing. Would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a laid back holiday. Ensure that you visit Lakones up in the mountains and Lapiades which is the next village down. Apartments were comfortable and friendly. The Oasis is great for food (make sure you try the stuffed sole) and also very friendly and accomodating. We will be back at the earliest opportunity. Until then, happy trails.

" I booked this holiday 10 days before... "

I booked this holiday 10 days before departure, and have to say it was the best thing I could have done in this rainy summer. The Aphroditi apts are just right for a girl on her own - I didn't feel set apart from the couples and families, the 2-person rooms are large enough (despite other guests moaning that they were too basic - what did they want, glamorous spas and facilities!?!?), and the setting in the fold of the mountains was beautiful.

The food and drink at the bar was always well prepared and available, and the Greek yoghurt and honey breakfast became a firm favourite with a few of us! The supermarket is adequate for self-catering supplies, and the taverna to be recommended is Miltiades, just across the road.

Elizabeth, Magda, Stathis and Adonis were very friendly. I learnt a lot of Greek words from Elizabeth!, Stathis kept the pool and surrounding area spotlessly clean (despite the windy weather) and Magda's meals were great.

I walked up to Lakones early in the morning, and it was lovely at that time of day - no crowds or coaches. I noticed though that loads of coaches turned up to the village during the day, so perhaps it could get very busy later.

The apts are on the main road, and so can be a bit noisy during the day, but at night, one could hear the owls in the woods opposite and the tree frogs croaking.

All in all, this was a good week. I went for sun, heat and relaxation, and that's what I got. As with other reviewers, a hire car would be recommended, but I didn't do that this time. Yes, I would go back to this place in the future.

" We stayed at the above apartments at... "

We stayed at the above apartments at the end of June 2007. We had a two bedroom apartment. The bathroom leaves a lot to be desired, but the staff and breakfasts make up for the poor bathroom.

Nothing is too much trouble and they aim to please at all times. The maid service is very good, plenty of clean towels. We had a great time.

" We came here for our honeymoon and... "

We came here for our honeymoon and couldn’t have asked for more.

A lovely quiet location with stunning views, we will definitely come back to explore more.

The apartments are basic but clean and the staff at Aphrodite are so friendly and will accommodate you with anything.

In fact the friendliness and warmth of these people made our honeymoon all that more special.

Thank you Magda and staff!

" Excellent apartments. Basic, but very... "

Excellent apartments. Basic, but very clean and well maintained. The people who own the apartments are very friendly and helpful. Pool area is clean and a joy to be around.

The down point is the situation of the apartments. It is a round trip of 4 miles if you want to head down to the main part of the resort. Taxi's a far and few between and very expensive.

Restaurants in the area around the apartments are poor. Very poor. If you want good food head to Doukades or Lapades. Oasis and Spiro’s restaurants are very very poor.

If you want to see Paleo in its full beauty head up to Lakones. Beautiful.

Paleo is nice, but is basically a road with stuff on either side. No old town {and no new town for that matter}. Pretty, but boring. We wanted a quiet holiday, but not being able to eat after 10pm in the restaurants in Paleo was a pain.

Next time in Corfu is Kassiopi in May, but will be back at the Aphrodite again in the next few years as the people we meet and the owners were brilliant.

Special mention for our rep Darren. Always there when you needed him, without him being in your faces. Everything you want from a rep.

" I completely agree with all the other... "

I completely agree with all the other reviews on this page - this is an absolutely fantastic place for a nice relaxing holiday. The rooms are basic but exceptionally clean, the staff are great - very friendly and welcoming.

The pool area and bar are top notch and the beaches nearby are some of the nicest I have been to. Can’t fault it at all to be honest - would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone.

" Booked these specific apartments due... "

Booked these specific apartments due to the reviews on this site and others. The apartments are spotless (if old fashioned) and had everything we needed. The pool area and bar were brilliant and well maintained. The owners were very friendly without being in your face. Very nice and genuine people.

The apartments are at the very beginning of the resort and this means you have a 2 mile walk to the main beaches. (It is downhill going and uphill coming back). Found it near impossible to get a taxi any time of the day or night and when we did they were very expensive.

Paleo is a pretty place, but it is in reality just a long road with stuff on either side. No old town or new town for that matter.

Found that the restaurants tend to shut early (about 10.30pm) and food at the ones near the apartments was not the best on offer.

Would recommend hiring a scooter for getting about as there are many outstanding places nearby. Doukades is just outside Paleo and is a beautiful little mountain village with a pretty square with 3 of the best tavernas we ate at. Can thoroughly recommend O'Doukas. Elizabeth’s also has a real Greek feel to it.

We were the only non Greeks eating there. Also go up the steep hill to Lokones for the most breathtaking views over Paleo. You would kick yourself if you didn't go. Can also recommend the restaurant Chilli Peppers (don't know its Greek name). It is located just outside Paleo opposite the BP garage. A truly Greek experience.

The beaches at paleo are poor but a 20min bike ride away is Agios Gordias. This is a great safe beach with all the facilities, but without the crowds. You also get the bonus of having to go through some stunning mountain villages and get some breathtaking views.

The bottom line is, that these are great apartments and a great base for exploring or just chilling out by the pool. No boom boom bars and nightclubs with annoying touts trying to get you in, just a really relaxed holiday free of drunken idiots. I’ll be back sometime in the future.

Just like to add that our rep Darren was fantastic at his job. There when you needed him, but not trying to sell you every tacky package tour under the sun.
