Beautiful Hotel
from A TripAdvisor Member
The other reviews given for this hotel have all been quite accurate. We found the hotel to be of a very good standard, the rooms are clean, modern and spacious. The public areas in the hotel are beautiful and the poolside area is fantastic, it has a lagoon type feel to it. All the staff in the hotel and the Thomson reps are very friendly and helpful and we were made to feel most welcome. We stayed HB for a week and the breakfast and dinner buffets were of a good standard. As a Thomson guest you get to eat ‘a la carte’ on one evening for each week you stay. Do take advantage of this, you will not be disappointed, the restaurant was very intimate and the meal was excellent. Worth saving the experience for a special evening although book it as soon as you can as the prime bookings are soon snapped up. On the downside Kolymbia is not the most inspiring area, if you are not a person who is contented to sun worship all the time you will struggle to find things to do in the location. The hotel does have some sports facilities but they could be improved on. For example we used the tennis courts but they are located next to a smelly drainage area. You will also struggle for evening activities, there are a few bars but they all have that karaoke feel to them and the shops all stock the same tourist tat. There are not even that may places to stroll as Kolymbia is only made up of a few roads. There is evening entertainment in the Hotel but not really our type of fun e.g. resident band, cabaret etc and as other people have commented the drinks are not cheap so you might find drinking in the hotel every evening soon drains your holiday cash. Some last tips; use the bus to visit Rhodes Town and Lindos, the service runs right past the hotel and the service is cheap to use 2 -3 euros; take insect repellent we did and did not get bitten once; the hire of the room safe is a hefty 25 euros but I suppose for peace of mind; if you are HB hire the fridge in your room for 10 euros for the week it will save you a fortune in drinks and a cool glass of wine on your balcony of an evening is what holidays are all about. This really is a lovely hotel and we had a very relaxing holiday also the weather was out of this world.
Fantastic holiday

Just thought i would have to agree with most of the other reviews of this hotel. It is excellent everything from the staff to the furnishings to the views. We had an imperial suite which was in the main building facing the see. it had a staircase upto the bedroom and a lounge downstairs. please see photos. we would return again maybe next year.
This hotel diserves more than 5/5 - first class all the way

Staff - Excellent, Food - Excellent, Beach excellent, Rooms - Huge and excellent..loved the marbel floor and bathroom. You also get a supersized bed. I dont have one bad thing to say about this hotel as it was perfect. I went with Thomson and the reps were superb, entertainment was class... the daily events were superb and very good fun. Big drinks selection. There was about 10-15 different choices of food per sitting - breakfast, lunch and dinner. The excursions were amazing i did rhodes by night, a trip around the island and a boat trip. One thing i regretted was not doingthe volcanoe excursion which would of been cool to tell people about. There are quite a few pubs, clubs near by if you feel the need to venture out the complex one night. Actually there are 2 things i regret the other being only booking for one week and not 2. Its hard leaving this place as it is perfect and pure luxury. I forgot to mention the pool is spotless.

Its the first holiday i have been on where i felt i didnt need or want to leave the hotel! We went on one excursion but would have preferred to have lazed by the pool or on the beach. The staff were outstanding throughout the holiday, and the choice of food was diverse. You never had to reserve a sunbed, you could find somewhere to sit at any time during the day. Most people seemed to have the same spot each day which was nice and no matter where you sat the view was amazing. The wedding that took place while we were there created such an atmosphere everyone ventured up to the windmill to watch the bride arrive and congratulate the couple. The only down side to the hotel was the children from those who booked throught foreign operators, but there were only 5 the whole time we were there. It was still extremely relaxing there was quite a mixed age range of couples which was nice and everyone was very friendly. Whilst there we were told the hotel had won thomson world hotel of the year and it certainly deserved it. It was expensive and worth every penny saved, i would highly recommend and i can't wait to return again just amazing, no holiday has come close since!

Nice hotel - Lovely Location
from sobrien.uk
Just returned from a week at the Hotel Atlantica Imperial. The hotel is nicely furnished with ample marble and terraces overlooking a magnificent view of the Mediteranean Sea. The Med side of the island is by far the nicer for swimming as it is very calm and the water is a beautiful azure blue which is clear to the bottom. It does get deep very quickly but little if any current is noticed. Beaches are public in greece and you can rent your umbrella and chair outside the hotel on the beach for 3.00 euros per person. You can also get a voucher from the hotel to use the non motorized beach equipment should you wish. There is a nice big pool and you can ussually get a good spot if you get up about 8:00 am. The hotel says you can't reserve chairs but most do in the mornings before breakfast. Chairs along the sea go quickest - you have to be an earlier riser than the germans and italians. We booked our stay through Thompson Gold in the UK and were impressed with the organization of the coach pick up and check in at the hotel - very fast and efficient. If you leave late on your date of departure think about booking a late check out with your reservation or upon arrival schedule a courtesy slot of 30 minutes to freshen up on the last day. Nice option that allows you a room with fully stocked shower but the best slots fill quickly don't wait for the last day. The Thompson team is there to help and very approachable, we did not use them but it gives you a sense of security that they would help you out if necessary. We booked a standard room with balcony and sea view which was adequate. Nothing special but very clean and the towels and linen were changed daily. Air conditioning is provided in July and August so sleeping was very comfortable. The entire hotel is spotless as is most of the island. The Greeks take their cleanliness pretty seriously. If you like coffee you might think about a renting a coffee maker because the hotel's coffee does stink and it's hard to get it after breakfast. There are some nice suites that open right on the beach that would be lovely for their proximity and view and I tried to upgrade but alas the hotel was full. Thompson staff was great and we enjoyed the entertainment that ran the gamut from great to mediocre but always a laugh even when probably unintentional. Big Matt in particular is really talented - should be on pop idol. The hotel staff is very friendly with the notable exception of the bar staff at the pool who are rude and arrogant which I think comes from having to make ice cream drinks for german and italian children all day. Unless you are female and attractive(which i am not) you wait. You eventually get a drink but you definitely would not want to tip them. Go all inclusive as the drinks are very expensive, they have some great drinks of the day as well as ice cream and shakes. Food was nothing to rave about but there was always something that tasted good. About what you would expect from a buffet style restaurant serving this number of guest for 3 meals. Great desserts however especially the Baklava. Try the ala carte restaurant for a nice break mid week. There is also a nice little Taverna at the edge of the sea which we did not try but that got good reviews from other guests. More restaurants are in the small resort center which also has the requisite shopping. Kolombya is small and quiet not rocking like a Faliraki. Our advice would be to skip the Thompson excursions. We did a trip to Symi which ended up being about 4-1/2 hours on boat and 2-1/2 hours roundtrip on a coach picking up from multiple hotels. The boat was full, hot and we ended up standing in the sun as seats were unavailable. We found out later this 2 hour each way trip could have been accomplished in 30 minutes on a faster service to the island which was beautiful. We rented a car and explored the island. Very easy to navigate and drive, make sure to see Old Rhodes town, Lindos, and Kamiros as well as many small beaches and coves. It's hard to get lost as the island is not that big. We rented from Europcar in the lobby because it was easy and we are basically lazy but heard the Rodos rental down the street was cheaper. All in all a great week, good weather and a nice comfortable hotel. Hotel staff with exception of barman were the best. Thompson Gold advertises itself as adults only but be aware that just means no British children. There were ample italien, german and french children and they are all the same no matter what language they shout in but really pretty well behaved and cute. If you fly ThompsonFly you do need to just be resigned that one or both of your flights will be late, do yourself a favor and pay for extra leg room - 15.00 pounds and well worth it. Our departure was delayed by about 2 hours and Gatwick is a mess but we got home safe and sound with great memories.

We are staying at this Hotel at present whilst I agree it is a first Class hotel with great staff the food is disappointing for us. Often just lukewarm rather than hot and somewhat bland! Maybe the Chef is taking a holiday!

My Neice and i have just come back from a week at this excellent hotel. We upgraded from half board to all inclusive on arrival. Check in was super fast and we were in our room within 5 mins of arrival. Followed my our lugggaue a few mins later deliverd by a porter. The staff were very attentive and the service they gave was first class all the way. The food was great and the choice was very good. The hotel was spotless and the waiters by the pool bar where on top form and provided entainment with there service in the evenings. We saw great entertainment by the gold team Em, Katy , Little Matt and Big Mat. Even Andrea a thomson rep at this hotel tried too ! It is certainly a hotel i will return too. A great holiday and even when we were leaving different staff from Managers, dinning room staff, and chef all that made this a great holiday came and waved us off and waited for our coach to come and little Matt as well. And even other people on the coach to the airport seemed surprised by the way the staff were. What a great place to stay.

"Excellent hotel in a great location"

My wife and I have just arrived back from the Atlantica Imperial Beach Resort and have had a fantastic week there. The hotel is 1st class and all the hotel staff are great. Nothing is too much trouble, from the bar staff to the excellant service in the restaurant. We had a superior room with a sea view, which was stunning, and we chose the all inclusive option. It was extremely good value as it gives you unlimited food and drinks throughout the day up until midnight. We were also invited to dine in the A La Carte restaurant one evening as part of the deal, which was superb. The daytime and evening entertainment is first class. During the day there are activities for you to get involved in if you wish or you can just laze around the beautiful pool. In the evening, the shows which are performed by the resident entertainment team are not to be missed. They are varied, very professional, and performed by a quartet of extremely talented young people. Well done to Katie, Em, Big Matt and little Matt.

The Atlantica Imperial was everything we wanted and surpassed our expectations. Room was big and spacious, well decorated and extremely comfortable beds (very important, and not often found). Food was so varied you were spoilt for choice everyday. We were half board but... more
