We found the Zimmerbrau to be very clean, with a good choice of buffet homemade meals, room was very spacious and nicely decorated, but as we had paid £90 pp extra for a room with a lakeside view. It was rather annoying to be told by the owner that we would not see the... more

We have stayed in this hotel for the past 2 years and have booked again for 2007. Absolutely fantastic. Hans and Alex the owners are excellent hosts and really go out of their way to make the hotel family orientated and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. The food... more

We have just arrived back from spending a wonderful week in Austria staying at the Zimmerbrau Hotel. This family run hotel has to be one of the most friendliest hotels we have ever stayed in. Food was excellent; all home made and always a good selection. We had a superior... more

good value for money
Stayed here recently and found it a good hotel, value for money etc but don't beleive it warrants some of the rave reviews I had read.
Lovely hotel
Just back from the Zimmerbrau. Very nice hotel, clean, good food and very convenient in the centre of St Wolfgang. Very good value and would stay again.
Happy Ski Holiday
Just returned from a weeks beginners ski holiday. Hotel very good value for money, very clean, excellent home cooked meals, all staff spoke English, Alex and Hans (owners) very helpful with knowledge on local area and things to do etc. Hotel situated in very pretty village, right in centre, everything at hand, although very quiet at night (which suited us) especially after a day sking. Very friendly hotel bar, nice place to talk to other holiday makers re their experiences, and bar prices ok and not over the top. Well worth a second visit in the summer months to experience the summer side of the area.
Loved St Wolfgang
We visited St Wolfgang in January 2006 and stayed at the Zimmerbaeu. The hotel was excellent it is a family run hotel which is decorated really nicely throughout in a way that makes it feel more like a home than a hotel. The staff were lovely and very friendly, the rooms were nice and comfy and the food was lovely it was buffet service for all meals and there was lots to choose from, you even get a free drink with your evening meal. We had ski lessons with the ski school which as first time skiers we were really glad about, we got a fab instructor called James who really new his stuff and he was a really nice guy. The postalm is a great place to learn and build your confidence, it is quite quiet which we liked. the restaurant on the mountain served lovely food, I can throughly recommend the Goulash soup and the strudel. It is a lovely bus ride up the mountain through spectacular scenery and we had a really nice bus driver it takes about 35 mins. The town is pretty quiet as most things shut this time of year, not that it mattered as we were on the slopes all day. There are some good bars to go in the evening when you get back down, the Kap Horn has happy hour from 5-6 so it is buy one get one free and they have live music on a Sunday. We met some great people and had the best time. We will be going again very soon. Have a great time if you go and if you get James don't forget to smile.....you're on holiday!!!!!!!
A Wonderful holiday, helped by a great hotel
A lovely hotel. The owners are very friendly and are keen to ensure you have an enjoyable stay. There are rooms of various sizes. Generally twins or doubles. Some have a 'seating area'. Our room seemed to be a 'mid-range' room. Fresh, modern decor. The bathroom was clean and fresh. No problems at all with cleanliness - ignore the first review of this hotel. At the front of the hotel, on the first floor is a balcony which is for general use. This is a great place to sit and read and people watch down below. Food was of a good standard. It was a buffet service. This suits me. I Love to try lots of different things. You're not going to get the same choice here as you would at a 200 room hotel. However, considering the number of guests there was a good choice. Always a soup, A good range of 'colds'-salad, meat, pasta etc. Also, generally 3 'hots' on the menu. With hot accompaniments. Drinks were reasonable. The location is fantastic. Right in the middle of one of the main squares - 30 seconds from the church. We thought that there may be some street noise at night. This was Not the case however. We're trying to jiggle a few finances to get another trip there this year. I would have no hesitation in reccomending this to even my most pedantic relatives!
Hotel Gasthof Zimmerbrau--Enjoyed our stay at this great Hotel
Eight of us spent a week at this family run, recently redecorated, refurnished, hotel, We found it very clean, the food very plentiful 'home ' cooking. Our plan included breakfast and dinner(both buffet)Drinks with dinner, including water (bottled) coffee and tea extra. The rooms cleaned daily and kept very clean, twin bed, ensuite. Kettle coffee/tea in rooms. All rooms have balconies, ours overlooked Lake Wolfgang. Bar open in evening The hotal is very central for lake and bus trips, fenucular rail. Patio cafe's open in the evening. Street festivals. St. Wolfgang is quiet after about 11pm, no late night bars etc. Lots to see and do in this beautiful area. Felt very safe. Low crime rate. Many languages spoken by locals.
Very Friendly and Comfortable
We have recently returned from this lovely traditional Austrian design hotel. The location was just superb as it was right in the town square and very close to the lake. The room was spacious with a balcony and a sofa in the sitting area. The family who run the hotel made the holiday special to us. They were so very helpful and could not do enough to help when my husband suffered a hip problem . Although there were no children staying as guests at the time, the family who run it have young children and there are lots of little toys displayed and cosy children's areas in the hotel for guests who bring their children. The food was good and there is a small cosy bar downstairs. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and feel it was much superior to any other 3 star hotel in which I have stayed in any other country abroad.
excellent - Hotel Zimmerbrau
just returned from an excellent holiday to st wolfgang. stayed in the Zimmerbrau which was directly in the middle of the town. the hotel was excellent. The rooms were superb and the owners (Alexandra & Hans) were very friendly and helpful. will be returning next year!
best hotel ever been !
Hotel Zimmerbrau should be a 4 star not a 3 star Hotel. Very clean and tidy. We have been there in July 04 for two weeks. friendly staff excellent food and always hot.
dirty rooms
I have just returned from the Gasthof Zimmerbrau. The room i had was nice but it was covered in dust. To me it looked as if it had not been cleaned in a long time. Apart from the dust the sheets on the bed had holes in them. The maid rarely gave you clean towels. To get some clean ones i had to throw mine in the shower. The food was ok as it was a buffet. There was a couple of choices of main course on each evening. Even if you like plain food you would have found something to eat. The cups that got used at breakfast time looked as if they should have been thrown out as they had stains in the bottom. At one point i saw one that had a piece of it missing. Some of the plates that you got did not look very clean as the pattern had worn off. You had to be careful what food you took as it had a tendency not to be very hot. If you dont mind the dust then this is the place for you as it is right in the middle of town
