Do not believe the bad reports. This is a lovely hotel
from johnandlyndsay
Well 1st of all do not believe all the bad reviews. This is a great hotel. We arrived at 0630, and were met by the night porter (24 hr service), who took us to our room. (We left in the early hours too, again, the porter was there throughout and to wave us off. ) We are a family of 2 adults, 2 children (9F, 11M). Admittedly the food if not geared solely to children, but we had no complaints; we believe that what is on offer, the kids will eat. The food was lovely, evening dinner was typical greek salads every night, soup, with a choice of 2 or 3 main dishes; meat and fish, potatoes, pasta, rice, and veg, plus fruit, or cake for pudding. Breakfast was a choice (or you could have it all) of greek yoghurt, cereals, fresh fruit salad, scrambled eggs, beans, bacon, sausage, cheese, and ham. Lunch was salads, fish or chicken, sometimes chips, chicken nuggets, fish fingers, pasta, vegetables; a very good choice for lunchtime meal. Afternoon snacks were cake and biscuits. All inclusive included local drinks 11am to 11pm, which also included the local cocktail of the day between 9pm and 10pm. Tea, coffee, juices and wine etc were also available all day. The swimming pool was lovely, and very big for the size of the hotel (i think 40 rooms), and very clean. (The rooms were also very clean and sheets and towels changed daily) There is a table tennis table, and darts free. A pool table u have to pay for, as u do the 2 video game machines. U may also have to pay for the air con, at 5 euros a day (not a lot.. £3). But, if u are not a greedy person (beer hogger) u will love this place. There were complaints from people, that they could not order loads of drinks just prior to 11pm, but why would u complain??? Is 12 hrs of drinking not enough; we just considered those sort of comments to be greedy and selfish. Dimitrious, the manager, was lovely; as were all the staff, throughout the holiday. He was always accomodating to requests. There was entertainment of greek dancing on one night, karaoke on another, large screen football three nights and dj music every night from 7 pm till late. Although not fantastic entertainment, it was enough, and not 'in your face'. We met with some really lovely people during our holiday and spent our evenings chatting and socialising and made some good friends. You can catch a bus from outside the front door of the hotel 3 times a day or in the nearby village of Tholos (10 minutes walk) once an hour into Rhodes for about £2 each way for an adult, takes about half an hour. Rhodes Old Town was beautiful. The village has shops and bars too, so there is plenty to do should you wish to do it. (As for the pylons; yes they are there; but they sound just like crickets and you only see them if you are looking for them; you won't notice them unless you are trying to pick faults! ) We would love to go back to this hotel; it was perfect for what we wanted. Thank you Meliton for a lovely holiday!!!!!!

We booked this holiday last minute, so only looked at reviews after. We read some bad reviews but thought that it couldn't be that bad. First mistake!! On arrival at hotel at 10pm after travelling all day we were informed we would have to wait until morning for something to eat. Snack bar, what snack bar!!! Breakfast the first day was okay, scrambled egg, bacon and some cereals and peaches (everymeal peaches). Out of 7 days i think we ate breakfast twice. The food went downhill quickly. We ate out most nights as there was no choice, and after complaining with several other families to our rep, they then added soup to the menu. All drinks were from 11 -11, watered down and not a very big selection. And bar staff made sure you could not stock up at 11pm as they counted your drinks (max 2) and then refused to serve you. When we were due to leave, our flight wasn't until 10.30pm but you were to leave your room at 10am, luggage was to be left in reception all day (reception not maned all day) and no shower facilities. We were also informed that we would not be entitled to food or drink from midday on, even though when holiday bookedwe were told would be entitled right up to leaving. We paid the ransom money of 30euros to keep our room on for an extra day, but had to fight for drinks and food. When we requested an extra towel at teatime for a shower, we were told NO, towels were for new guests!!! I have never stayed in a hotel where the staff and faciltities which are rated as 3 star have been this bad, BEWARE

we stayed at the meliton hotel from the 7th july to 21st july. we found the staff very rude towards me and my boyfriend. even though we were model young couple.they do not like complaints and change as soon as you complained. the food was really bad we basically survived on bread and butter at the hotel we had to eat out. there was not much choice of food and we didnt know what we was eating it could of been eating cat or dog 4 all we knew.we also wasnt happy about the time the bar stopped serving drinks and that was 23.00. There was a couple of good points and they were that the pool was very nice and the rooms were clean.

This hotel is run by a family who are arragant and pig headed. We arrived to be told someone was in are room and to sleep n the sofa till morning. The manager refused to talk to me and out the phone down. The food was appauling, for an all inclusive holiday we had to eat out every day or we would have starved. Not all bad though, pool was very relaxing, beach was lovely and we hired a car as nothing is really in walking distance because of the heat, its a good 20 minute walk to beach and a bit further for shops. Island attractions lovely hotel meliton not. We didnt have clean sheets for the whole week air conditioning we had to pay for and leaked towels you had to ask several times for. I enjoyed my holiday but thats because I stayed away from the staff and the hotel as much as possible.
Relax, relax, relax

Four of us stayed at the Meliton Hotel, we were looking for a relaxing holiday and that is exactly what we got. We went for one week all inclusive, it is a small family run hotel with a good 10-15 minute walk to the nearerst shops/restaurant/bars. Would advise to hire a car or even push bike to make it easier to pop out in the evenings although a shop is available within thie hotel, and if it does not have what you want they will order it in for the next day. Car hire is cheaper to get from within the hotel, we paid 59 euros for 2 days and you can easilily drive to the other side of the isand in 45 minutes which is well worth the trip. Lindos is a very beautiful place with golden sands. Breakfast was started at 7.30 until 10 and had a variety of fruits, cereals, bread and eggs, bacon, mushrooms (this varied throughout the week). Lunch started at 12-2 and had a vast varierty throughout the week from salads, curry , fish to good old fashion chips for the more fussier people. Cakes were at 4 to tide you over to supper at 7-9. Excellent foods such as sog bol, bbq foods, mash and chicken. The bar opened from 11-11 so stock up on those drinks at 11pm :O). All other guests were very friendly and made it all the more enjoyable. Weather was very hot and pool was a god send, large enough for everyone to relax. As you may notice from some of the pictures, you can see the electricity pilons, but this was not noticable after the first day. The rest of the scenery soon caught your eye. One bad point was those nasty mozzies. Make sure you take plenty of repelant but if not the shop has plenty of lotions and potions. We would fully recommend this hotel to all age groups looking for a relaxing holiday.
Greatly improved!

We booked our vacation last minute without checking out the hotel on the internet. When we saw all these other reviews, our hearts sank - we had booked a holiday to hell! When we arrived, we were greeted by a big surprise - contrary to what has been described by others, the rooms (and bathrooms) were clean, the food and drinks were excellent (wine is still watery, though) and the staff were friendly. The manager (owner?) was a nice middle-aged Greek gentlemen who always smiled. The lunch and evening buffet was varied - never the same dish and always enough choice. In the morning there was a breakfast buffet with eggs, sausage, bacon, Greek yoghurt, bread, jam, coffee, tea and juice. Drinks were all-inclusive from 11 in the morning until 11 at night, including a cocktail hour with special cocktails from 9 to 10. About the only things still correct about the previous reviews were the powerlines and the powerstation (about 2 km away), but you can't see the station from the swimmingpool/bar/restaurant area. In fact, we much preferred being in a small hotel outside a village then in a big hotel in Rhodes City with 2000 other souls. It did mean we had to hire a scooter to go places, but this is true as well if you're in the main cities and want to see the rest of the island, and it's quite inexpensive. If you insist on other forms of transport there is a bus stop about half a kilometre from the hotel and car hire is also available from the hotel for a decent price. There was an evening programme 3 times a week with karaoke, Greek dancing and bingo. If these aren't your thing, it's about 40 minutes by bus/scooter/car to Rhodos-city or a half-hour walk to the village cantinas. We had a great holiday and recommend Hotel Meliton to any visitor of Rhodes!
Not as bad as everybody makes out . . . . . .

Think it's about time the record was set straight on this hotel. It seems that people have had some bad experiences, and we may have been lucky, but we were not the only people staying at the hotel (24th August - 7th September) who enjoyed their time there. The manager was no problem, and very helpful to us with our queries. He and his staff made sure that we were given help when booking our car, and were very helpful with recommendations for days out. Admittedly the hotel room was basic, but it was clean and tidy. The swimming pool was always clean and tidy, and the all inclusive drinks and food were absolutely spot on. There was indeed no film night, but there was the Greek night, karaoke night and quiz night which were enjoyed by all who attended. For the money that we paid, we could not have asked for a better holiday and we spoke to other people during our stay who enjoyed themselves just as much as we did.

The first that greets you as you approach the meliton hotel is the power station nearby with billowing smoke stacks. Arrived 8.30pm no one on reception to book us in had to find them. Went to look at the pool quite nice apart from the pylone and electric cables 30ft above the pool buzzing away like insects chirping. Settled down to have some food all cold pastas and meat covered in oil only two choices. The manager was something else when asking him any question he would sigh as if to say go away im not interested. The brouchure says there is a film night this was one of the many lies surrounding this hotel. If you thinking of going to this place Dont nothing to do at night and miles away from any part of island that is nice (lindos) the only escape is to get on a bus or hire a car all the people at the hotel couldnt wait to go home as were we.

We booked a one week all inclusive holiday to this Hotel. We were disgusted with what we found. We had cold showers every day, the beds were not made and towels were not changed. I requested a ice cream- to be told they are not available. Drinks were only provided if you returned your empty glasses, these dirty glasses were then refilled. Food was ok - if you liked flies with your meal. I spoke to the manager about not being allowed ice creams - he informed me it was a limited all inclusive hotel, he then started shouting and swearing at me.
hotel very clean and rooms cleaned every day, pool clean and all areas kept clean ,gardens well manicured.location is poor-but you should already know this prior to booking.no-where really to walk to .main let down was the food, generally chicken, including wings as a main... more
