cheap and cheerful

hotel very clean and rooms cleaned every day, pool clean and all areas kept clean ,gardens well manicured.location is poor-but you should already know this prior to booking.no-where really to walk to .main let down was the food, generally chicken, including wings as a main course--not really acceptable!one day it was beef bones--absolutely not! i presume this is where they make their savings.the food was edible but very unexciting.i realise you get what you pay for but i have been to other 3star hotels with more variety and better quality.it did not spoil our holiday though!they ran out of beer during our stay--supplies were replenished the same day,but i cannot understand why this happened.one day at 1-30 pm i fancied a gin and tonic prior to lunch ,only to be told they could not serve spirits until 2pm. the board on the bar clearly states that available from 11 to 11.i gave up at this point with their crazy logic !!!!

The hotel itself was very clean. The staff were helpfull and very frieldly, though the eldest barman could be a little mardy so you have to be carefull what you say to him. The food was lovely but it was limited chioce which isnt good if your a fussy eater. The variety is basically pasta, rice, chicken, soup, bread, veg and others for breakfast. It is a family hotel with one swimming pool, one bar, one eating area and one mini market. The mini market sells snacks assentials and small gifts. The hotel is out of the way, it is in the countryside but only around fourty miniutes away from Rhodes town on the bus. There is a bus that picks you up from the Meliton and takes you to Rhodes Town, on the way back there is a bus that stops on the corner. We also walked to the old town but there is only a few bars and cafes. The beaches are lovely with clear blue sea, there is a beach within walking distane of he hotel. At the time of year we went it was extreamly sunny, we wore t-shirts in the pool so we didnt burn. My only complaint would be that the hotel is near a big powerstation which sometimes let off a smelly yellow smoke and you can here the electricity running through the wires. I loved it!!!

After reading mixed reviews and being open minded i went with open eyes, all reviews have a grain of truth, the food is no better than ok breakfast being the worst (if you can eat eggs then greek yoghurt youll be ok)take your own teabags the greek ones are rank,it is a 1km walk to nearest bar/restuarant and shops if you cant stand the food (a minority couldnt)rooms plain but very clean as is the whole hotel/pool/grounds drinks weak(get yourself your fave tipple and liven them up)entertainment poor (a dutch guest did his achilles trying the greek dancing) in summary if you want a cheap holiday and can overlook the shortcomings this may be the holiday for you think of all the £ youve saved take the bus to rhodes town 2.60 euros each from right outside hotel,go on a trip and enjoy the proper greek food (ignore the pylons the noises are crickets)

We booked this hotel as part of a low cost holiday and we got better than we paid for. One week of peace and quiet in the sun, in a basic, very clean hotel on an all inclusive basis. The food was not out of this world but this is a small 3 star hotel in Greece so we got 3 star food that was basic, hot and good value. The drinks were not watered down but they were not strong, ideal for the hot temperatures of June. The rooms are cleaned every day and our room was spotless. Very friendly staff and management who were very helpful, made sure the football was on for those who were interested etc. One night a week is Greek night where the dancers come to entertain at not cost to the guests and it is very entertaining, if you do not want to dance then just say no.
There is a free bus to the beach every morning from the hotel and the bus also picks you up from the beach so that you can return for lunch. A 10 minute walk down the road take you to the main street where there is a regular bus serivce to Rhodes town. The main street in Theologos has 7 bars all of which are good to visit, my favourite was the Lemon Tree run by George and Debbie, who are a loveley Greek couple and a pleasure to be arround. Mike's bar right at the end of the street is also great but all the bars are good, There are 3 small supermarkets and a chemist on the main street so you can get what you need, the hotel also has a small shop.
We decided to have air conditioning and a safe deposit box (the box is a requirement of our insurance or I wouln not of bothered) this cost 43 euros for a week. Yes when you look out of the window at the back you can see pylons but they are in with olive trees, so I looked at the trees.
We enjoyed my stay at this hotel but remember you get what you pay for.

Arrive at this hotel in the early hours to be met by the night porter who was very helpful and personally escorted us to our rooms. After a few hours sleep we went down to breakfast which was adequate, scramble eggs, sausage & beans plus the standard continental breakfast.Lunch was very good as was the dinner, various menus over the week all to a very high class.
The owner of the hotel has been painted in a very bad light in some reports, I must say that we found him and his wife very friendly as is all the staff at this hotel.A lot has also been written about the cleanliness, we found this one of the cleanest hotels that we have stayed in.The area around the pool is cleaned every morning and the sun beds are not only hosed down they are actually wiped down. The rooms are basic but are exceptionally clean.I would reccomend you to take some coathangers as there seems to be a shortage.
If there is a down side to this hotel it is the location, a little bit off the beaten track, but for anyone wanting a decent priced, all inclusive, laid back holiday this is the place.
We would have no problems in returning to or reccomending this hotel to anyone.

We stayed here for two weeks and had a fabulous holiday. The hotel is very small, and quite far out of Tholos (twenty mins. walk). But it is well worth it.
The staff couldn't be more helpful, Dimitri the owner was very obliging and always willing to give any assistance needed. He runs a mini bus to the beach every morning and picks you up again for lunch.
There is very little entertainment but this is fine if you want a nice relaxing holiday.
Hotel is spotlessly clean, fresh towels every day if needed. The food was great, there was not a big choice with such small numbers. However there was never a day we couldn't eat well. Because it was freshly made it was just like home cooking, the best hotel food we have had.
The pool is small but perfectly adequate for the amount of folk there. It was kept very clean, some of the sunbeds were a bit the worse for wear but I am sure this will be seen to.
Tholos itself is very quiet with just a few bars, restaurants and supermarkets, but you could get all you needed even Irn Bru. I would recommend Mike's for delicious food.
There is a good bus service into Rhodes town and at 10 o'clock every day except Sunday the service bus comes to the hotel door. It takes about 40 mins in the bus but is well worth a visit.

We have stayed at this beautiful place on five occasions...what a wonderful relaxing holiday..Dimitri and Katerina have become like family to us and nothing is too much trouble..Rooms are spotless and food is the best.
We have stayed in other places on the island but nothing beats the friendliness of this place. And the pool with spa area is fantastic.
Take no notice of the other remarks on this page , the place is for a relaxing restful holiday....throw your watch away and forget everything..Drinks are available all day and the free loungers are a bonus..Could go on and on and on .....

Just returned for a week all...

Just returned for a week all inclusive at the Meliton Hotel which was great.
The owners, Dimitri and Katerina were the most lovely, friendly, helpful people you could hope to meet and could not do enough for you. They looked after everyone and made sure everyone was enjoying themselves.
The hotel is clean and fresh. The pool and surroundings are lovely. The pool has a little hydro pool (jacuzzi type thing). The cleaners come round every day and are very nice and friendly too. The rooms have a TV and air conditioning (which you need to pay for but is totally worth it).
The all inclusive was great value for money. It is just your typical buffet style breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast was served from 7.30 til 10.00, lunch was served from 12.30 til 2.30 and dinner was from 7.00 til 9.00. There was also tea and cakes at 4.30 til 5.30. The food served was all cooked fresh and was good quality (although a bit healthy for my liking!). The all inclusive drinks were at the bar from 11.00 til 11.00 and included all local spirits, beer, wine and soft drinks.
The hotel also has entertainment at night, like greek dancing and karaoke. It has a ping pong table, pool table, tennis court and big TV, so there is no chance of being bored.
It is about a 10 minute walk to the resort of Tholos (or a few euros in a taxi) but if you don't like walking there is no need to leave the hotel anyway as everything you need is there. The owner, Dimitri, drove anyone wanting to go to the beach or resort a free lift three times a day.
The resort of Tholos is quite quiet, which is what we were looking for. The beach is a pebble beach.
We went for a boat trip to Lindos which was fab and a great day out. We didn't have a rep so we took a taxi to the harbour and there are stalls selling boat trips for the day, you need to get there before 9am.
All in all, the hotel and resort is great value for money and perfect for a relaxing holiday.

Our first holiday as a couple, we read the reviews after booking and thought we were in for the holiday from hell
We arrived just before midnight to be met by the friendly night porter. We had a couple of drinks at the bar and then headed for an early night.
The hotel was clean, the pool was great, the staff were friendly and the food was nice.
There are daily buses into Rhodes centre, the hotel owner runs a shuttle bus to and from the beach and the car hire is pretty cheap to (35euro for the day)
We had a great time, met some great people (Burt, Bob The Builder and the Jew)
Would def recoment this hotel for a cheap, relaxing break

Stayed at the Meliton Hotel June 2008. From the moment we arrived the manager was so helpful as were all the staff. It is a family run hotel and so friendly. Great greek food and rooms cleaned daily. Met some great people and will definately be back. Hired a motorbike and explored the Island, highly reccomended.
The hotel provides a mini bus to take you to the nearby beach, although we never visited the beach, other guests were pleased with it. The hotel pool is immaculate as are the grounds.
This is an ideal hotel for couples of all ages.
