We love Finkenberg and love the Harpfner even more! Brigitte runs the Harpfner B&B as a tight ship. The rooms are immaculate (as we've been a few times, it is obvious that they are renovated each summer to ensure they are in perfect condition for the winter season), the breakfasts very generous and you are made to feel extremely welcome.
We have been going back there for about 6 or 7 years and have never been disappointed. If you want a ski holiday that feels like you are actually in Austria, rather than a snowy Costa Del Sol, then Finkenberg is ideal.
The locals are fantastic, the service and food in most restaurants is great (Dorf Stube and Finkenbergerhof are both worthy of mention) and for us, this is one of the best things about going B&B.
One word of warning - Crystal don't really support Finkenberg that well in terms of rep coverage. For them, it really is an off shoot of Mayrhofen. The reps will generally know nothing about the place and encourage you to travel down to Mayrhofen for activities. My advice is to resist this! If you want lots of noisy bars and to be ferried around on a package holiday - go to Mayrhofen in the first place. If you want a great holiday with good food, great access to the ski slopes and friendly people, go to Finkenberg. (and the fact that you can enjoy your holiday without being hassled by a holiday rep every 10 minutes is a huge bonus)

This is a wonderful little hotel and you will be ensured a warm welcome from owners Brigitte and Hans. It is as traditional as they come- with large, immaculate en-suite rooms.
The dining room is an Austrian delight and the breakfasts are brill lots of fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereals, local cheeses and hams and the eggs were cooked to perfection every day. Brigitte is very informative giving you snow info every day and as Hans works on the ski lifts she has all the latest information. The only downside was that there is no evening meals but there is the half board option which is well worth taking in an excellent nearby restaurant- we didn’t but wished we had as it would have been less expensive.
If you want home from home comfort with the warmest of welcomes this is the place to stay. A bonus about Finkenburg is the lifts are much quieter than Mayerhofen gaining you loads more skiing time.

We were pleasantly surprised on our arrival. We had been told we were in the small room and it was considerably bigger than your average bed and breakfast accommodation.
The breakfasts were splendid. A definite plus for our vegetarian friend was the huge selection of cereal and fruit, whilst our gluten intolerant chum was very happy with all the ham and eggs on offer.
The showers were another fabulous plus: hot and powerful enough to take your skin off!
Brigette was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, but not an invasive hostess.
Some hotel eateries in Finkenberg were cheaper and tastier than the ones in Mayerhofen we went to, but try to book at the beginning of the week if you are out over Christmas/ New Year or you want to eat at the Kristall Hotel on a Friday (the best steak ever according to the carnivore of the group).
Finkenberg itself was a cracking little resort if, like us, you go to Austria to have fun on the slopes rather than in the pub. Access to the slopes if much better than the crazy crush of the Mayerhofen lift.
