Upon arriving at the Radisson Lexington in wonderfull New York City we were asked to wait half an hour for a non smoking room, considering we had been travelling for a good 9 hours it wasn't that much to ask. Onwards to the bar then which of course, with any hotel, was over priced so use your common sense and drink somewhere else don't use it as an excuse to stay somewhere else.
The Hotel room (double) we were given was perfect, big enough, clean, massive tele(by my standards) and a sufficient bathroom, a great start to a holiday of a lifetime. The maids were in the room every day and kept the room very clean( for a dollar on each pillow). The starbucks built into the lobby of the hotel was a lifesaver, you need lots of coffee to kick start your day in Manhatten and was good value as well.
The selling point for this hotel is definetly the location, as long as your able bodied and don't mind walking, you can walk to almost all the midtown manhatten tourist attractions and a hop skip and a jump to a sightseeing bus or subway station to get you further afield.
The staff were friendly and helpfull and helped us out with a return transfer problem we had both speedy and effiently.
In conclusion this hotel is perfect for your trip, to what I think is the greatest city in the world, because it delivers everything you need for a city break. Enjoy your stay!!

This hotel is amazing we have stayed...

This hotel is amazing we have stayed there twice now and staff, food and cleanliness of rooms are brilliant! I would recommend this hotel as it is in perfect location only a couple blocks from Bloomingdales and central station and Chrysler building! It also has a starbucks in the bottom of it!
Virgin were a fantastic company to fly with and are highly recommended they take care of all needs and look after you brilliantly.
The only downside was how cold it was at this time of year but was lovely to see central park in such a beautiful state!
Concierge are brilliant and are most helpful they help you book everything from taxis to theatre tickets and restaurant reservations.

As a location, it's very difficult to...

As a location, it's very difficult to fault the hotel, close to Grand Central station and walk able to tourist attractions of Central Park, shops and Time Square.
The room we had was what you might call, a little bit on the compact side to say the least, it was well kept and clean. Although the bed was advertised as double there was not a great deal of room for my wife and myself!
The staff were all friendly and the lobby very impressive.
Just word of caution, be careful of tax added to your bill here and elsewhere in New York, as it came as a bit of a shock to me.

Not a bad hotel. We have stayed here...

Jan 2007, Jo30

Not a bad hotel. We have stayed here twice when visiting New York.
The first visit was Christmas 2004 and we had a fantastic stay. However our recent stay was a little disappointing.
My husband had requested a smoking room; they are only on the 5th floor, which was being renovated.
We had heard that you could hear noise from the nightclubs on the lower floors so we requested a higher floor and they very nicely put us on the 26th floor. The views are amazing!
The room was not in as nice maintenance as two years previously and there was mould around the window sill.
The room was very damp and remained far too hot and had a wet 'swimming pool changing rooms' feel to it.
The bed however was comfy; the room cleaned very nicely and had a huge TV. The diner was great and all the staff were very helpful. We had no complaints and did not bother to ask to change rooms as we were really only there to sleep.
Lexington and 48th is an ideal place to stay, very close to 5th Avenue, Central Park etc. If you want a simple room (with chargeable internet access) to use as a base I would recommend it.
However if you are planning to spend your time in the room, then I would recommend paying for a larger, more up to date room.
Two tips:
Book the minibus back to the airport. It arrived early and took us to JFK in 45 mins at rush hour! With a very hospitable lady driver.
Try a restaurant called Pampano on East 49th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenue. It's Mexican, slightly more expensive but still half the cost of an upscale restaurant in London.
Our Host's knowledge and enthusiasm for the food and recommendations made the meal even more special.
The food was amazing and I would rate it one of the best restaurants I have eaten at (and I have travelled to Tokyo, Sydney, Singapore, Maldives, and Thailand to name a few).

We stayed at the Radisson over...
9 / 10
Sep 2006, Mrs S Plimmer

We stayed at the Radisson over Christmas 2005. The rooms were clean and average sized, although the double bed seemed huge! Overall very comfortable. We got a great deal via expedia and flights were with Virgin.
The staff very very helpful and friendly. The concierge booked restaurants that were very hard to book for us, and recommended a fantastic place in Central Park called the Inn on the Green for Christmas dinner, food was outstanding, a bit pricey but worth it. We even saw Kelly Osborne there. We decided to stay an extra night and the staff were very accommodating, they even suggested we called a travel company to book our extra night because it was cheaper than booking it through the front desk, we did and saved about £50. The diner attached to the hotel done fantastic breakfasts, especially the pancakes! Try Connolly’s bar just around the corner for great food that is good value for money, it’s a chain of Irish bars (there are four in Manhattan) Try the meatloaf its great, and the atmosphere is good too. Good location for shopping and sightseeing would stay here again.

The hotel was situated on Lexington...

Feb 2006, Miss V Davis

The hotel was situated on Lexington avenue which is extremely central for shopping and all other tourist activities. The lobby was very impressive but the rooms where disappointing! The room was small which we expected, however the carpet had so many stains on it that I didn't want to take my shoes off.
It was a shame as the hotel is in great location. I would advise people to stay in New York on Lexington (2 blocks from Radisson) as the facilities are amazing and it costs around the same price!
