Great room. OK location.
I've stayed at Westin's many times in the past, and this is a very typical Westin. I personally think they are fantastic, but everyone has their own opinion. The rooms are classically modern (think Pottery Barn style furniture, and limestone bathrooms.) The beds are everything you've heard of and more. (I think they are even more comfortable than the ones at the Bellagio.) What I love the most is that the bed is in totally white sheets and comforters. Besides the fact that it looks cool, you are pretty sure the sheets are clean. (Unlike our... more
Just Off-Strip, Quiet and Comfy
Stayed here to recover from a disastrous business trip experience at NYNY, and was pleased overall. As an SPG member I got onto one of the SPG floors, clean and new-looking but a little dark. Rooms are smallish but comfortable and well appointed, loved the Heavenly Bath (2 shower heads, nice toiletries, really good towels) and the Heavenly Bed (need I say more? best bed you'll ever sleep in). Nice comfy leather club chairs in the room, built-in desk with minibar on the side. Didn't have any HVAC problems at all during my stay. Broadband was... more
I would be very careful
Originally I made a reservation from 4/18 to 4/22 then changed from 4/17 to 4/21 by telephone. I asked the reservation staff to give me the new confirmation number but he says "it would be the same confirmation number." I walked in to the check-in counter around 5pm on 4/17 and was notified the they did not have any rooms. I was obviously not happy but asked to look for another room at a hotel near by. After a few hours of search, the front desk staff found me a room at Caesar's Palace but twice the rate. I had to take it and had to pay the... more
Stay Away!
Stay Away! * Was not able to check in until 8:00PM * Was hung up on by the front desk because they were busy * Concierge sent us to essentially Bennigan's when we wanted somewhere nice * SPG rooms has major stains on the carpet * 5-10 minutes wait for Elevators from the SPG floors * 5-20 minutes wait for Taxis * Casino has ONE craps table * Casino has ONE cocktail waitress * Casino has worn down dealers who would rather work elsewhere (just ask them) * Lovely views of powerlines from the front door IMHO, if you want a Las... more
Great Start, terrible nights sleep
When I walked into the Westin, I was impressed by its classy look. Beds were ultra comfortable when we tried them upon arrival. The elevator security is great. You have to use your room key to work it. Staff were very friendly all throughout the hotel. What I didn't realize was that I had an AC from h*ll! Needing a good nights sleep for a long drive the next day, I was looking forward to resting in their "heavenly bed." It sure was comfortable. Just as I closed my eyes to fall asleep, however, I heard a loud, constant thumping noise.... more
Not good but not that bad.
Stayed in this hotel for two nights payed 110 dollars a night. All I could think is I wish i had paid the little extra to stay in one of the bigger hotels. The hotel is fine but feels shabby next to all the other hotels surrounding it. Must admit the Beds were very good though. The location although near the strip feels a little seedy and taxis can be hard to get hold of.
Not a 4 STAR Hotel in anyway!! Totally Disapointed! Terrible, Terrible, Terrible
I will start by saying that we go to Vegas at least 6 to 8 times per year, for 2 or 3 weekend days at a time. We have stayed at The Paris, Venetian, Mandalay, Aladdin, Monte Carlo, we do prefer most of the time the Paris, and Venetian, excellent service, and never had a problem. This was a last minute trip, so all of the good hotels were booked, while searching for a 4 star or more hotel there was the westin, a great decryption, described as a new hotel, 4 star hotel, etc., etc....This is what we got! We stayed at the Westin Casuarina... more
serene and relaxing
MY HUSBAND AND I VISITED LAS VEGASMANY TIMES TO SEE RELATIVES AND FRIENDSthis was my first time staying at the westin. we are not gamblers, but we enjoy las vegas the hotel wasvery relaxing very quiet the staff was excellent.i would go back to this hotel again.the heavenly bath and the heavenly bed.let me tell you the bed made you feel as though you were wrapped in a pillow and sleeping on a cloud.the bed was excellent, excellent, excellent . this hotel is a wonderfulk break from the strip. it is across from ballay's from the back,so the walk... more
Weak Westin
This "new" hotel is actually a retro-fit of the old Maxim hotel. The sewer smell that appears to seep up through the lobby of the Westin is indicative of the condition of that old Maxim. My colleague and I both developed sore throats while staying here. Could it be the asbestos remnants circulating through out? The smelly lobby looks old, is dark, has a small casino, and did I mention stinks to high heaven? There is one "restaurant" that provided horrible service and mediocre food. The rooms were average except for the trademark Heavenly Bed... more
Westin pretty good, one bartender very bad
Overall, the stay was pretty good. Many of the staff bent over backwards for me. Nice bed, TV, decor, view, pool and hot tub. My main criticism was with one bartender named Laura. I had been playing video poker at the bar and getting "comped" drinks thoughout the stay. At one point I was told that the only requirement for free beverages was that I had to put at least $10 into the machine. On this occasion, I was winning and had about $40 in credits. A friend and I waited for quite a while before asking a "barback" for help. He had to tell... more
