JW Marriott Hotel Reviews

9 / 10
Aug 2007, Mr P Scott

The JW as we have come to know it affectionately is probably one of our favorite hotels. We typically visit once per year. The valet staff, remember your name, checkin is fussless and the rooms are always bigger than the average 'Vegas' room. The best part, is that they are... more

This hotel does everything right.
My girlfriend and I stayed here on a recent weekend. The room was fantastic. Great bedding, huge bathroom, in-room safe etc. We spent two mornings at the pool which was large and well maintained with plenty of comfortable pool-side seating. If you have small children you'll appreciate that the hotel employs lifeguards. If you're a gambler, the casino has lots of low-limit table games (e.g. $5 double-deck blackjack) and good payout tables for video poker. We ate breakfast at the cafe next to the buffet and both the food and the service were excellent and fairly priced. If you visit in the summer I suggest making the 20-30 minute drive to the Mt. Charleston area. We did a couple of 2 mile hikes and the 80-degree sunny weather which was a nice break from the 105 heat of Vegas. The views of the Vegas valley are amazing.
Avoid the strip hustle and bustle!
This was a great change of pace to avoid the strip. It is located near the beautiful red rock canyon area so a rental car is a MUST for this location otherwise transporation to/from the airport will run about $35 one way. The service was excellent and the rooms are very large. This hotel grounds are beautifully landscaped and it is nice to strool through the courtyard after a long day and admire the views. We really liked to watch the young ducklings entertain as they explored the creek running through the property.
What a nice change of pace!
We were at JW Marriott from 6/6-6/10. We knew it was away from the strip, but thought we'd probably go to the Strip sometime during our stay. We did not. The hotel was lovely, the grounds impeccable, the pool uncrowded and very pleasant. We ate at all of the restaurants except for the buffet. The meals were priced very reasonably for what you got and they were all excellent. The casino had everything you needed, except for a poker parlor. The slots kept you playing ... my husband won $1,200 on a quarter machine and another $540 on another quarter machine. The blackjack tables had low minimums, $5-10, and dealt out of double decks instead of auto shuffling shoes like on the strip. I never left a blackjack table without more money than I sat down with. We walked everyday over to SunCoast and to the Boca Mall, which was a pleasant walk and had some very nice shops. We really did not feel the need to leave and go to the Strip. We will definitely return. I highly recommend it.
Great Hotel
We have stayed twice and look forward to our next visit. The spa is fabulous!
Superb Resort in Las Vegas
We've now stayed in three J.W. Marriott hotels (Miami, NY, Las Vegas). It's a terrific signature chain. The beds and linens are always great, and the rooms are large and well-appointed. The JW in Vegas is superb. Service was terrific. We liked it better than the Venetian, at which we stayed for our second night in town. The pool is huge! This is a classy joint, a great place to relax just outside of Vegas.
JW - Tranquil and lovely in NW Vegas
After reading many of the other posts and now having stayed a week, I have my own ideas about this resort. First the major plusses: it is very beautiful, well planned, lush, with a great pool. It is absolutely NOT crowded, even though the hotel is full. The prices in the restaurants are anything BUT expensive (lunch buffet 8.99 and better than anything on the Strip for twice the price - coffee show with everything under ten bucks - this place is cheap compared to the strip or even a regular kind of restaurant - and the food is very good), nice easy to navigate casino, incredibly nice front desk people, especially adria in the Palms tower - the rooms, while big, are very plain - but the jacuzzi tub in the very nice bathroom is a plus. . The negatives - if you are into action and having lots of entertainment options, this place is not for you. I loved hanging at the lovely pool, which is very large, with two big jacuzzi tubs. The lounge chairs aren't too comfy, but they are fine. There is a waitress taking orders, a nice grill at the pool and it is beautiful. You feel like you are in Hawaii. The room was large, but very plain. There were two beds, an office type desk with fast internet connection at 9.95 per day, great marble bathroom with small shower with rain showerhead, private toilet, and a great jacuzzi tub that filled fast and was great to lie in. The views are fine, but there are no balconies to speak of, just french doors that open up onto the view. Avoid third floor mountain view rooms because there is a concrete wall that goes half way up the window, blocking the view. Also avoid the rooms that face the Suncoast casino. they are building and there is a lot of construction noise. Try to get the rooms above the 30's. The hotel has two towers, and there is really no difference between one or the other. For food, there is the buffet, which is cheap and oustanding. The coffee shop is run of the mill, but very reasonable, and there is an Irish pub, Starbucks and an italian restaurant. They are all good and very reasonable. I can't imagine how anyone could say the restaurants here were pricey. That's ridiculous. They need to go to the strip and see what expensive is. You really need a car to stay here. They have shuttle service to the strip, but it is infrequent and doesn't go late except on weekends. They have free valet parking so its a breeze. The casino is perfect, not too big but with everything you'd want. I felt very rested and relaxed here, but when I wanted to just walk out onto the strip, that was not possible. It is very very quiet and tranquil here. Enjoy.
Perfect hotel/vacation but rent a car at the airport!!!!
We had the most Fabulous, near perfect vacation for our family and friends with a wedding we just hosted this weekend!!! The hotel was exceptional, the staff was friendly and accomodating, everything couldn't have been nicer... the only glitch for us all weekend was transporting family/guests who were hoping for either a hotel shuttle from the airport or for us to come back to the airport and get them... which wasn't convenient at all. Getting a rent a car makes it all easy... from cruising quickly (10-12) minutes to the strip for a show, getting to Fashion Show MAll or outlet malls for shopping, or just going 10 busy blocks away to the drug store, Cheesecake Factory, Euphoria Spa(nails, hair, makeup) or easy transport for any of the adjoining golf courses. or golfing etc. The hotel was flawless and the catering/wedding staff did an exceptional job for us!
Great!
Well, this was one of the best vacations I have ever been on! My husband and I recently got married and were looking for a relaxing romantic oasis type resort where we could also gamble. That's exactly what JW Vegas was. It was somehow peaceful and exciting. It was relaxing and adventurous. We loved the giant room with the marble and jacuzzi, etc. We loved our balcony with the view. We loved the price. I didn't love the bed. It was really hard and uncomfortable and the blanket was thin and scratchy(I figured they did that so you couldn't sleep and would want to go gamble), but besides that and the cocktail waitresses in the casino being rude to me, it was a perfect vacation. The spa was wonderful. The dealers were fun and outgoing. The hotel was beautiful! There was even a Starbucks which made me very happy. This is THE place for couples who are looking to get closer and have fun, not for people looking to see and be seen like on the strip. I highly recommend the spa! It was heavenly.
Paradise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This place is absolutely wonderful; I go at least three times a year. The grounds are impeccable. The only problem I have is that there isn't one in my neighborhood. Say Hi to Guy @ Check in counter... He's way cool!!!
An oasis from the Strip-Love the JW Marriott!
The JW Marriott Las Vegas offers the finest room for the common man in the city. The Four Seasons floors at the Mandalay Bay does have the finest strip view. The JW rooms have nicer carpet, larger bathrooms, and walk-in closets. The Champagne Sunday brunch is ultra inexpensive and the best I have encountered in Las Vegas to date.
