I have recently returned from Kiotari...

Aug 2006, Miss Amy Quick

I have recently returned from Kiotari and after reading some of the reviews I have to say I am quite shocked at some of the comments.
In total there were 26 of us of mixed ages and although we encountered some initial problems on arrival by the end of the 2 weeks I was sorry to leave.
The highlight of the holiday for us was the animation team......Arthur, Aurel, Jerry, Roy, Rhoda, Rhian and Laci. These guys were fantastic and worked so hard all day every day! They organised daytime activities for all ages such as quizzes, darts, water gym just to name a few. Water polo was the most enjoyable activity as it involved all of the guests English, German, Italian etc getting on well together which was nice to see. Even on their one day off a week the animation team organised a go karting competition for guests. The kids loved them and are still missing them now 5 weeks later.
During the evening there was entertainment for everyone starting with the mini disco at 9 followed by bingo and then a show which was never repeated twice in the two weeks we were there. After the show was a disco from 12-3. The evening shows were very funny and apart from the first choice talent show (which I have to say was a bit of a shambles) thoroughly entertaining. I recommend the Greek night on the roof bar which was something different and good fun.
I read a comment about the entertainment being geared for German Guests? Well, seeing as the compare spoke 5 different languages I find this very difficult to believe.
The food was good and the kids found something they liked most nights. As expected there was a battle for sun beds resulting in our towels being thrown in the pool one morning! But I don't think there was one day where we didn't manage to find a sun bed somewhere.
The first choice reps were disappointing (apart from Kieran) and most nights the kids preferred to stay with us in the amphitheatre (where the evening entertainment is held) than go to the kids club.
Overall I had a fantastic holiday and met some great people. We shared lots of fun and laughter with one another as well as the animation team. I would definitely go back to Kiotari
P.S. I don't know if anyone else noticed the letters E.A that kept appearing in the sand.....just a nice coincidence I guess!?

We went to this resort for a family...
3 / 10
Aug 2006, Mrs C Randall

We went to this resort for a family wedding and although we had a good time this was because 22 of us went so everyone was kept entertained, but I felt very disappointed in this holiday.
This resort is in the middle of no-where, you have to get on a bus (unreliable), get a taxi (expensive), or go out on an organised trip.
The animation team were fantastic out of this world and very good with the children, they were friendly and approachable. The kids are missing them already and have asked to go to Rhodes to visit them on a day trip.
Sun beds - Unfortunately taken by the very early hours of the morning so you needed to get one the night before and risk having your towel thrown into the pool or dumped somewhere.
Myself and 2 of my children were diagnosed when we returned as having Salmonella Food Poisoning and all the other members of the Wedding Party (22 people) + others that we got friendly with and staff at the hotel all had the same symptoms so probably had it as well. The food was luke warm most of the time and not cooked properly as on occasions the meat was pink.
The rep in the hotel changed after a couple of days of us arriving to a lady who was very unsympathetic to our illness and other complaints were being made by many others.
Stray dogs on the complex which were not friendly and knocked a 18 month old over and pinned her to the ground, when the staff were informed we were told there's nothing we can do about it.
Ants are in abundance over there so if you are attempting to go take some ant killer with you as the shop is very basic.
Not clean - some members of our party actually slept in the reception area on the first night as the rooms were filthy and stank.
I personally would not recommend this hotel to anyone as I am still suffering from salmonella now and have been back 4 1/2 weeks.

I decided to take my mum away on...
2 / 10
Aug 2006, Mrs L Sladden

I decided to take my mum away on holiday, after looking at the brochure decided on the Kiotari Bay Miraluna Hotel because of the picture of the fantastic looking pool. What a mistake! On arrival after the most awful transfer we jumped in this fantastic looking pool only to be stared at by some very rude Germans, after feeling extremely unwelcome we went back to our fairly decent room.
At the welcome meeting the next day we asked about some hotel details as nothing had really been explained and asked about the pool we were then informed that this fantastic pool was not available for us to use as this was for select service customers only, something that was not and would not have been explained had we not asked. We were then told that the pool we could use was also in the brochure however the photo they have taken was nothing like the real thing, there was no possible chance of a sun bed unless you stayed there over night and you could not move as there were beds upon beds no room to walk between.
Although the food was acceptable it was not Greek enough, you really could be anywhere. And as for the drinks. Chewed plastic cups!
After realizing there was no-where by any pool for us to sit we headed to the beach where you had to pay for sun beds, but we knew about this so can't really complain about that. The beach was lovely even with the massive rocks and once you had worked out the most ladylike way to get into the sea it really was beautiful, warm and clear.
In conclusion I would not recommend this hotel, it looks great from afar but once inside you are eaten up by rude hairy Germans, with basic food, awful entertainment and restricted access to the facilities promised in the brochure.

One week will not be enough. We have...

Aug 2006, Guardian

One week will not be enough. We have just returned from the Miraluna Hotel and we are happy to confirm that all our fears we immediately washed away from the moment we arrived. The rooms are in need of freshening up but they are spacious and well appointed, air-conditioned and cleaned daily.
The pool areas and children’s pool are spotlessly clean and well maintained and the theatre area, nicely laid out.
The kids clubs were severely over subscribed however, the animation team were fantastic with the children of all age groups.
We found superb and very reasonable car hire at “Lindos Rent a Car” in Pefkos (Ask for George) about 3 kms from the hotel. We managed to visit Prasonísi (meeting of the seas) in a banged up old Suzuki jeep stopping for lunch in one of the fishing harbours on the return journey.
Managed as well to fit in some scuba diving in Rhodes and would like to thank the guys and girls from the Water Hoppers for everything.
As a really fussy traveler I find the need to complain a compulsion however, the only complaint I can make on this trip is “why didn’t we book for two weeks”
NB thanks to Chris, Kate, Toby and Sasha for helping to make this, such a memorable holiday.

Got back from having the best holiday...
10 / 10
Jul 2006, Mrs D Georgiadis

Got back from having the best holiday ever at Kiotari Bay yesterday, we went for a week and just disappointed that we never booked it for two weeks. In all honesty I can not complain about one thing and I do not understand why some people do. The food was mouthwatering and plenty of choice and available at all times, the deserts were to die for.
The pool was great, apart from having to get up early to get a sun bed, but that has happened in all the resorts that I have been to. The rooms were basic and clean.
The beach is not great due to the rocks, however I was aware of that before we arrived, so can’t complain.
The drinks were strong and for the first time ever I never had to queue for them.
The reps and staff were brilliant and I take my hat off to them for all there hard work. I have never had such a laugh. The shows at night were hysterical.
I miss it already and will be booking for next year!

Jul 2006, Mr A O'Donnel

1) Don't be fooled by the pictures on the internet of the nice swimming pools by the little villas. They belong to another hotel so you’re not allowed to use them unless they give you permission. (Tip from me just use it anyway like we did as it's better than the other pool that has far too many people around it for the size) It was too scary to take your eyes off the kids for one minute as they may be jumped on by a fat rather ignorant German. Yes I mean this, they were all so rude!
2) The first choice kids club was very, very good. 10 / 10. The staff were very helpful and took the little ones far more than we anticipated and the kids loved it.
3) The evening entertainment is dreadful. A mini disco followed by bingo followed by an act containing sexual innuendo therefore not suitable for the kids.
4) Food not too bad but always so busy and yes those Germans again don't like to be polite.
5) Not enough sun beds and those that are there normally have towels on them overnight!
6) Would we go back kids say yes adults say no way.

We got back from Kiotari bay last...
1 / 10
Jul 2006, Miss L Littlewood

We got back from Kiotari bay last week, we couldn’t wait to get back the food is awful, the only thing that was consistent was the fact chips were on the menu it was bad on the day we arrived but it got steadily worse as the week went on.
We were overrun with children screaming and shouting running around the hotel all day and night, the alcohol is the cheap and nasty stuff, a couple of things they don’t tell you in the brochures is that there’s a sister hotel on the same site as Kiotari bay, bigger posher and has 25 swimming pools etc, and you aren’t allowed to use any of it but they are allowed to use Kiotari's facilities.
Kiotari say they have a football pitch and sports facilities but they don’t, they say they have 3 bars (the cocktail one you have to pay for your drinks!) The staff were incredible very quick and efficient, we had a ant problem in one of the families apartments and within 10 mins they had sorted it out, very quick especially the 2 young Greek lads on the front desk, wonderful job lads, we appreciated everything.
All in all we wouldn’t go back to Kiotari, but we do love Rhodes, one word of warning do not go on the trip to turkey its a con and you will be hounded by the Turkish in the bazaar its awful we were so upset!

Me and my family were supposed to be...
8 / 10
Jul 2006, Miss CL Roberson

Me and my family were supposed to be going to Kefalonia but 7 weeks before the due date they contacted us to say the resort was not finished yet. So Kiotari Bay was our 2nd choice. There were 8 of us in our party all mixed ages from 11 years to 37 years of age so we wanted something for all.
My first impressions of Kiotari Bay was that it was stunning and well kept the room impressed me very much as I love modern and it felt homely to me. The staff were wonderful and very friendly especially one of the buggy drivers which we named Speedy.
However I feel there was not enough there for English people it's all based for Germans mainly who might I say were very rude towards us English and need to learn that it's rude to stare. There was a big separation between nationalities and the English were the worse off with bad entertainment.
The food was ok but there was a few nights when you could tell it as just left over’s and there was not enough Greek based food, also on a lunch time in the main restaurant all the names of the food were just written in German which I found very offensive as I couldn't understand what some of it was. On our second to last night we decided to eat out and have something different we walked down the road to a restaurants called Mourella which I would recommended to anyone.
The main let down of the hotel is the beach it hurts your feet and is just pebbles no sand the sea is full of rocks so when you walk in it you stump your toe about 50 times oh yeah and kids there is no football pitch.
Overall I had a great holiday and would recommend the hotel as all inclusive.

Jul 2006, Mrs C Owen

This hotel is fabulous I cannot fault anything about it, we have just returned from our best holiday ever, the whole complex is looked after it is clean well equipped the staff are very helpful and friendly the food is amazing the pools are large and fun the entertainment is brilliant they work hard all day and night the rooms are beautiful if you are not happy they will move you no problem, the beach is nice bit very pebbly make sure you buy beach shoes the bars are great especially Zeus I cannot put all this hotels good points into a review but if you have small children want to chill out sunbath and swim in beautiful surroundings and eat and drink as much as you like then this is the place to be I would recommend this 100% we are hoping to book again as soon as we can.

Jul 2006, Ms V Kelly

I too read the reviews and really looked forward to what we assumed was to be a great holiday. Not to be at all. When we arrived the reception staff were very friendly. 5 of us went me, my partner and 3 kids - 16.14 and 9. We were told our room would be a family room. For what family I don't know but you can't swing a cat in them.
The lighting is terrible, they are carpeted and never vacuumed only swept. Gaping holes under the front door so you sleep with all the creatures looming about during the night (obviously we were ground floor). Oh yes and I think you should be aware that there is a nice building site next door. Noisy from approx 7 am and it looks like it will be there most of the summer season.
The rooms are not fully air conditioned as stated in the brochure - only one room has a small unit and is pre set to 18 degrees.
The sun bed situation – dire, there just aren't enough and the hotel is majority German and Italian so unless you are up early and reserve a bed (which they ask you not too but nobody pays any attention) you wont get one.
The weather – Great.
The food - very average but edible
The animation team are great - hard workers that’s for sure but there is little entertainment at night and bear in mind you are out in the sticks - nothing local for you to go to.
I would not advise anyone to try this hotel, during the 7 days we were there the rep left, another came and the complaints from holiday makers were growing.

Just got back yesterday from the...
9 / 10
Jun 2006, Miss S Wilcock

Just got back yesterday from the Kiotari hotel. Having just read some of these reviews I have to say that I don’t know what all the complaints are about. I went with my family, mum (47), me (26) and brothers (18) and (16) and we all had a fantastic time.
The hotel room was spotless and the linen and towels were changed daily, the rooms were tidied and cleaned to a high standard.
The food was wonderful with plenty of variety each night with something for everyone. My only complaint with the restaurant is that some of the food was not labeled and this made it difficult to choose what food to select. That said as it was an all inclusive buffet if you didn’t like something you could always leave it to one side on your plate or select something different. The deserts were to die for!
The drinks although not premium brands were drinkable, the beer was ok and the drinks were quite strong.
The shop on site was a little on the high side of the price scale but not off the wall and was very convenient for much needed water and last minute souvenirs. The staff were very friendly and all spoke excellent English.
Didn’t see much of the First Choice rep and didn’t go to the welcome meeting so can’t comment on that. The First Choice Kid’s reps put on a show on one night which was a kids’ talent show which was a bit of a shambles and not at all entertaining unless you were one of the parents of the little darlings!
The highlight of our holiday (apart from the fantastic weather) were the entertainers in the “Animation” team. They were a fabulous group of people who worked tirelessly, day and night to provide lots of fun for all ages and nationalities. They organised sports, quizzes by the pool, and all of the entertainment at night. The shows they put on were hilarious, I would definitely recommend the “Ladies Night”, Mr Playboy and the Comedy Show! After working all day and night doing the entertainment shows (up to 11pm) the boys and girls would make their way to the hotel disco and party on down from 12am to 3am! One of the teams even organised a go karting competition on his only day off for the guests to take part in!
The beach wasn’t up to much by the hotel and if you want to explore the island in style the best way to do it is to hire a car from the Dutch lady in reception. We hired a Renault Clio for two days for 80 Euros which was significantly cheaper than the Rep’s price and gave us the flexibility to explore most of the beaches on the island. We found our favourite spot was Fourini beach on the Aegean coast which was quiet but beautiful with a great snack bar!
All in all a top holiday. I wouldn’t hesitate in coming back to the Kiotari Bay, or recommending it to friends. Its absolutely brilliant for families, even the older ones like us. Thanks to all the staff at Kiotari Bay see you all again soon xxxxx

My family of 2 adults and 3 children...
5 / 10
Jun 2006, Miss A Lowe

My family of 2 adults and 3 children started this holiday with some trepidation after reading some of the reviews and were even more disappointed than we could ever imagine- we had to ask and in the end demand a change of bedding after a week of having to lay on stained sheets-the same said for extra pillows which we had to resort to taking cushions from the sofa's in reception!
The cleanliness of the hotel rooms leaves a lot to be desired, with the previous occupants hair and "leftovers" in the bathroom left to greet us! The animation team cannot be praised enough- 2 young girls- Rhoda and Rhian were fantastic as well as rob, jerry-brill and thank you for involving our children who are missing you all already-the food was ok-you were lucky if it was hot and if you did not go on the Greek night you had very little to choose from. Would we go again?
Definitely not and all those that we spoke to said the same- the sun bed situation is a disgrace-one numerous nights all sun beds were taken by midnight so you had no chance to get one at even 6.30am the weather was fantastic and that the only thing that kept me going. Our rep was a big let down-totally uninterested in anyone or anything and more worried about missing a match - terrible! First choice-more like last choice.
