" My family ( husband children aged... "

My family ( husband children aged 13 and 20 years) returned last night from a brilliant holiday at this hotel and resort. we enjoyed ourselves so much we tried to extend our stay by 4 days but could find no flights back to the UK with available seats. We stayed in the Kiotari Bay hotel. The room we were allocated the first night had obviously been used by a smoker. The first morning we asked to be moved. we expected to have to beg or threaten but Nansie the receptionist gave us the keys to one of their bungalows and said if we liked it we could move there immediately. The bungalow had 2 rooms a patio door leading to a lawned area, and a medium sized swimming pool with Viking ship and water falls etc! we had the sun all day and a short walk to the shingly beach. There was plenty to eat and we could eat all day from 7am until 12midnight! There were several taverns where you helped yourself to drinks and hot/cold snacks. We ate in the adjoining Miraluna hotel (part of the hotel group) which is rated 5* as there was more choice for vegetarians. All staff were very friendly, entertainment was good and varied. Our last night was spent at the Blue bay Hotel in the north of the island for the last night so we could visit Rhodes Town, again arranged by Nansie. Will certainly revisit probably this August. One of our best holidays yet.

" Felt I had to add my comments to give... "

Felt I had to add my comments to give a more balanced review of this hotel.

Our family of 5 has just returned from two weeks all-inclusive, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The hotel is a very large complex and seemed a little impersonal because of this.

We were based in the Kiotari complex. Our room was spotlessly clean, albeit a tad small for 5,and was cleaned on a daily basis. We were based in the one story family blocks surrounding the pool, which were reasonably quiet apart from bar noise from mainly English guests on some nights.

The first week we arrived the hotel was busier, mainly with German and Italian guests, who were extremely well-behaved. The next week seemed less busy, but the hotel seemed noisier due to the above and a rogue element who were quickly removed. This was tolerable though ,and didn't really detract from the holiday.

The restaurant was clean and appeared well-run by the (apparently) strict manager. The food was fresh, hot and variable, and the snack bar catered for the less adventurous (Chips and Pizza). The two pasta chefs (who sadly went home) and the Thai chef were excellent and cooked in the restaurant.

The food choices were not so good in our second week, but they were catering for less people.

The all-inclusive drinks were ok and quite strong with the beer and cocktails (not free, but 3 Euros each at happy hour in Zeus bar)coming out top in our view. The animation team Aurel, Terry,Mel,Leo,Lorenzo, Vale, and GianCarlo were excellent. Aurel was particularly professional, and fluent in many languages, but the whole team were (outwardly) enthusiastic and friendly, which was great at the end of a long season. They tried to involve everyone and the kids just loved them all. The bingo and shows were a bit cheesy, but the animation team were always lovely.

The professional shows at the Amphitheatre were good, but it was a bit cold at night down there.

The pools were a bit deep for children, particularly if not good swimmers but the splash park was always available. Basically we would recommend this hotel for families, but not for young singles.

" What a fantastic holiday!!! Where do... "

What a fantastic holiday!!! Where do I begin??

The room was great, the children had their own little room complete with tv and dvd player. The food was fantastic, the staff were all so friendly especially Nansie on reception.

We upgraded to a select room which only cost us an extra £80 which was money well spent as the facilities in the Miraluna were definitely better than the Kiotari Bay.

The chef who worked in the snack bar at the Miraluna cooked up some of the best food I've ever eaten in a hotel abroad.

Great time of year to go, the weather was still great but the hotel had quietened down quite a lot.
My children loved the Kids Club and the kids reps were great with them and the activity programme for them was fab, ensuring we had plenty of adult time!

As far as going out and about goes, Lindos is beautiful and well worth a visit, Pefkos is great for a night out, I can highly recommend Enigma and Nostalgia for a meal. Haraki beach is also worth a visit.

We did an excursion to Symi, the place itself was well worth visiting but you have to travel for 5 hours to get there!!

The only down side to the holiday... coming home.

" My husband and I have just returned... "

My husband and I have just returned from Kiotari after a fairly relaxing week without the kids. We were here two years ago as a family, and I'm sad to say that the resort has gone downhill since we last visited.

Don't get me wrong, this isn't a bad resort (if you are loud mouthed and English), but this time, we felt that the standard had gone downhill.
One day there, there was nothing at all that we could eat. Now I'm not fussy and will eat anything except lamb and offal, but on this one day, the food was either overcooked (mainly the seafood) or it was raw (my husband had chicken which was still very red). However, on the other days, the food was very good with a good variety of different dishes to suit everyone.

The other thing that we noticed was that there was a very high percentage of English guests. This wouldn't be a problem but watching their kids throwing cups of cola over each other up at the pool table area was very disturbing especially as they didn't even apologise to the poor staff who had to clean up their mess.

The other thing was that a lot of people seemed to treat the staff as servants to clean up after their mess. I hate that, these guys have a job to do (which I think they do very well being polite, when really all they want to do is tell people to mind their manners).

There were a lot of English and Italians there and I think the resort is starting to cater more for the yobs more than it used to. Remember this is meant to be a 5 star resort.

The evening entertainment was actually quite good although a little “different" God bless the animation team!

We only saw our First Choice rep when we went looking for him, and the other first choice reps that ran the kids clubs didn't look like they could be bothered. Also, I noticed that it was mainly the other reps that ran activities in the pool (water football etc) were from other non British companies. At no point did I see any daytime activity ran by the first choice reps (unless you count them trying to fleece you for a fortune to go on a bus to some place where the entry ticket was not included in the price).

The only evening entertainment that we saw by the first choice reps was the mini talent show( this was designed for the kids but that was not made clear to anyone going down to the amphitheatre).

On the positive side, all of the staff at Kiotari were very nice and helpful. We spent many a time just chatting away to them. We spent a lot of our time on the Dionysis bar where it was well air conditioned and the staff were great. Really friendly and helpful

Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but we won't be going back as there were too many yobs there to get in your face and annoy you. This is not the place to go anymore if you want a nice peaceful holiday.

" We have just returned from a 2 week... "

We have just returned from a 2 week holiday at the Kiotari Bay hotel and overall it was a pretty good experience. The hotel is good, full of Germans and Italians but to be honest it was the English tourists who were more of a problem!

All of the hotel staff were lovely and helpful, especially Nansi and the guys on reception, and the rooms were spotless and cleaned every day. The food in the restaurant was good on the whole although there wasn't always a good choice for kids and my little boy lived on chips, spaghetti bol and ice cream for 2 weeks but he was happy enough.
There was a Thai chef in the restaurant each night cooking Cantonese and Asian food (fantastic) and a couple of Italian chefs who all prepared pasta. My boyfriend is a vegetarian and most nights had great meals.

The Animation team from the hotel put on great entertainment all day, everyday from pool games to fire eating - very funny, very entertaining and talented and spoke so many languages to include everyone.

I wasn't too impressed with the First choice team. It was clearly almost the end of the season for them and they looked like they had just had enough but I think I would have by this time of the year with the English holiday makers.

It is quite a big hotel but we all felt quite safe within it. There were a great deal of people with the 'VIP' tags on who were staying at the other part of the hotel for at least £400 extra each week but it did make us wonder if it was worth paying that extra money as so many of them spent their whole holidays within the main part of the hotel by the pool and also in the restaurant.

The beach was pebbly but we knew that before we went and if you catch the bus at the top of the road by the hotel entrance it cost 1 euro to get to a lovely sandy cove just 2 minutes up the road which has a lovely beach bar serving drinks and snacks - take a snorkel with you as the sea is full of colourful fish.

We hired a car for 4 days as this proved to be a much cheaper way of touring the Island rather than pay for the trips provided by First Choice and you have much more freedom to enjoy the sights. Hire your car from reception or the lady seated in the reception area as it is cheaper than First Choice. We spent time up in Rhodes Town, at the Water Park and other days just exploring - take lots of water with you.

Our only problem really was the heat. It is apparently the hottest it has been on Rhodes for 20 years and it was a struggle both in the day and at night. Also, if you don't want loud music keeping you up late then don't request a sea view as you will be facing the Amphitheatre where the entertainment happens and the music is pretty awful and very loud. If you want a late check out on your last day I would recommend doing it when you get to the hotel with the reception staff as First Choice were charging £45 for this but we paid 30 euros and had our room until 9.00p.m

Overall it was a good holiday and I would definitely recommend the hotel but try and book independently rather than with a tour operator, you may get a better deal.

" We had a great time at this hotel. We... "

We had a great time at this hotel. We found the entertainment better the second week we were there as they changed their boss, made a big difference.

Although we did see a couple of shows twice. Well done animation staff, you were very entertaining!

The only moan I would have was the restaurant or should I say school canteen! Our 1st week was fine as wasn't that busy but the second week hundreds of Italians came & just took over & it was everyone for themselves, barging into you, taking your table when you had been sitting there, the list goes on. So could do with a better system when it’s really busy.

I can't say would go back to this resort as wouldn't do an all inclusive in Europe again as like to go out & eat & look around, but is ok if you just want a relaxing holiday.

" Stayed here with my girlfriend we... "

Stayed here with my girlfriend we were both 19 and after reading the reviews dreaded staying here, but don't believe a bad word they say about it.

Extremely clean several useful bars and a decent show on every night. Very friendly staff and animation team were fantastic.

There were lots of day trips on offer and our favourite was the glass bottom boat trip to Lindos, the guy who ran the trip was very helpful and even gave us a trip separately from the others.

Sand/shingle beach was ok which was right outside the resort. But if you walk 20 minutes down the coastline you will find a very nice sandy beach with lots of tavernas and quirky shops here.

Our only negative from this hotel was the food, in which a lot of it was aimed at the German tourists. Drinks were good and the local beer tasted similar to Stella.

Overall it was a good holiday and I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Rhodes.

" Hi to all that reads this. Had an... "

Hi to all that reads this. Had an absolutely fantastic holiday in the Kiotari Bay hotel even though we were down to stay in the Miraluna village hotel.

This is one big hotel and the Miraluna village is the newest part of the hotel, we didn’t find out till the day before we leaving, but you will notice some people have bands on their wrist and some don’t.

I asked one bloke what the reason was and he said that if you’re in the Miraluna Village you should have one of these which we should have had one all week.

The only difference was up in the MV the pools were much quieter than down in the kb and more Germans up there too. And we had to keep going down stairs to the tavern bar to get drinks to take back up to the cocktail bar - where if we had of had the band on, we could of getting our drinks from the cocktail bar all week to save our poor little legs ha-ha.

Oh and the restaurant supposedly was better up the MV end but we never went up there coz we were having such a good time where we were anyway.

On the day we were leaving I did get something out of them though coz we had a late flight I told receptionist I wanted our room all day as we were supposed to be up the MV end and have a band all week and we hadn’t.

They said we could have a room till 4pm but I said no I wanted it till 8, they eventually give up and said yes. Oh and we drank in the cocktail bar getting our drinks from there too all night until our taxi came at 11pm.

Overall definitely no complaints we had a fab time and all the staff were lovely too.

Have a lovely holiday to all that goes oh and say hi to john on the watersports for me just say Tracey and Garry the Geordie expert windsurfers said areet and he will defo know who you mean.

Thanks.

" We are a family of two adults and... "

We are a family of two adults and three children 8, 6, and 18months. We had a really great time at the Kiotari Bay hotel and didn't want to come back home!

The only thing I can fault was the entertainment at night - It wasn't long enough! The Animation team did a good job with the shows but they finished by 10:30 the latest.

They also brought some great tribute acts in such as Elvis & Blues Brothers (although they didn't really sound/resemble either they were very funny!), Drifters, Girls Aloud and Pussy Cat Dolls - Which were a big hit with my 8 years old daughter!

The first Choice kids reps, Sarah, Steph & Kirsty were fantastic! Kids club went on 'til 11pm some nights where the kids could watch a movie - My 8 year old daughter and 6 year old son loved it! The mini disco was also a big hit with the kids at 8.30pm every night.

All the entertainment was down in the amphitheatre...be warned, the mosquitoes hang out there so take repellent! This is the only place I got bit by mosquitoes. You may also need a cardigan some nights as the sea breeze can be a bit chilly.

The food was great! Something for everyone and kids can have ice-cream all day long!

There are some good trips on offer too; we went to the Greek night (watch out for Papa Ouzo!). Tsambica Beach is a nice sandy beach and you must check out the water park in Faliraki! That is a fantastic day if you love all the water chutes like us!

There is something for everyone there...my 18month old daughter enjoyed it too! We booked our trips through Steve, the First Choice rep (who is lovely and couldn't be more helpful) but they do tend to return a bit early - especially when we went to the water park, we would have liked longer there.

The staff at the hotel are really nice, especially Nancy on the reception desk. We were put on the 2nd floor which wasn't suitable with an 18month year old so we asked to change rooms and were given a ground floor apartment without any fuss.

The complex is huge and quite hilly so not really suitable if you have problems getting around. There is a shop on site in reception but other than that the nearest shops are about a 30 minute walk away. You can get Taxi's easily and Pefkos isn't far.

Hope you enjoy your holiday as much as we did!

" I would totally agree with the staff... "

I would totally agree with the staff being helpful especially Nansi on reception. The hotel was cleaned regularly and kept to a high standard.

However what I found most frustrating was the lack of entertainment for adults and children. In our 14 night stay we only had 4 shows at the amphitheatre and the same singer twice at the pool bar. The rest of the time we sat at the bar with no other entertainment available and drunk copious amounts of alcohol.

In the evening the only things the kids had to do was play pool , air hockey and table football all cost from 1 euro up to 1.50 euro in addition to this they could access the internet if we purchased a card which also cost around 5.50 to 7.50 Euros.

To give some idea of how much was spent the entire hotel ran out of euro's, so the kids did not even have the option of the games any longer.

The food - what can I say it's fine if you like chips and pasta. Without shadow of a doubt it gets very boring as you get tired of seeing the same old stuff. As for the burgers I totally agree they hadn’t improved when we got there, they were still cold and un-cooked.

On a better note the pools and ice cream were very nice.

The rep, I don’t think I saw him more than 4 times the whole holiday.

" Really enjoyed this holiday. Hotel... "

Really enjoyed this holiday. Hotel was nice and clean with daily maid service and towels being changed daily. The staff were really helpful and approachable.

The area in which this hotel lays was not the best if you wanted to try other bars or shops but the bus service is very reliable and runs from just outside the hotel grounds (ask reception for a timetable).

We went to Pefkos and Lindos which were both worth a visit - Pefkos had about 20 different bars and shops and Lindos was very pretty (make sure when the bus drops you off in Lindos you get a free shuttle to the shops/beach - saves on your feet!).

John who works on the water sports on the beach is English so you will have no problems with translation when you need to hire a jet ski (about 30 Euros but well worth it). Maria runs the beach bar which you have to pay for but she is lovely to talk to and speak loads of different languages.

The food here is wonderful - I counted 28 different dishes at lunch/dinner time.

Breakfast is 7am-9.30am, Lunch 12.30pm-2.30pm, dinner 6.30pm-9.00pm. Outside these times you can still eat as much as you want but there isn't a lot of choice.

The pools were lovely but take care as there are no barriers to stop young children from just walking into the deep end.

The safe costs 20 Euros a week and you don't get this money back.

All aside I think this was a great holiday for the 7 of us and I would definitely go back.

" Was extremely nervous about visiting... "

Was extremely nervous about visiting this resort due to other reviews, but went with an open mind and didn’t really know what to expect.

We stayed in the Kiotari hotel, in a room directly facing the kid’s splash pool and pirate ship; perfect with having a 4 year old and 15 month old.

We were welcomed by the lovely reception staff, especially Nansi who was always happy to help. The difference between the reception staff and the bar staff is unreal; trying to get a smile out of them is like trying to get blood out of a stone.

The first thing that is apparent is that this resort really is catered for the Germans... all the signs around the pools were German and when ordering a drink at the bar, the staff would look at you puzzled and ask you if you spoke German?

Why would I speak German when I’m English in a Greek resort... fool!

Even the channels on the TV were German- well those that weren’t Greek- apart from one, 'BBC World'. Woohoo... :-( Not that we wanted to watch telly it was just the principle of the matter.

The Miraluna is the biggest part of the resort that is German, so I feel so sorry for you if you’re a British person up there!

People from the Kiotari Hotel were not allowed to venture onto the Miraluna side of the resort, but those from the Miraluna could quite happily wander on down to the Kiotari, which they did on a regular basis; in their Speedo’s, jumping around in the kids splash pool...not a pretty sight, especially when they’re 20 stone!

Germans aside, the resort isn't that bad. The facilities for the kids are excellent and the kid’s reps are awesome....all the kids loved them, especially 'Rockin Rae and Super Steph' who really got into everything with the kids!

There are loads of different activities at the kids club and those parents, like myself, who go and say their kids won’t be attending the kids club because 'it's a family holiday' wont not be able to let their kids go! Especially when their kids can see the club and all the fun they’re having.

The splash pool and the pirate ship can keep the kids happy for hours and is good because it’s not too deep. It is actually possible for the parents to be able to relax at the side of the pool while watching their kids rather than have to be jumping up every two minutes!

There's a good play area there as well and it is cleaned every morning; this too is next to the pirate ship so basically all the kids stuff is together. Because of this, up at the pool is very chilled. There will be a few kids but not millions running around and 'bombing' all the sunbathers. So any couples who go here can have a bit of peace during the day.

The snack bar at the pool isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be- the brochure says pool bar serving snacks but I didn’t see one item of food being served from behind there all holiday. There is a snack bar in the main area but all this is basically is all the left over’s from the meal sittings.

They do serve pizzas there but not until about half 9-10pm- which a lot of kids miss. After the ordeal that the kids went through at mealtimes there, a lot of us kept our kids up till pizza time so they could have something half decent to eat.

The restaurant is 50/50. Food for the adults is great although sometimes you do get sick of the same things being served. The food for the kids is a completely different kettle of fish. One word to sum the kid’s food up is 'appalling'! We stayed on the resort for 7 nights and 4 of these nights the kids were given burnt and dry minced chicken nuggets which were cold and cold soggy chips.

2 of the nights they had minced fish fingers, which too were cold and 1 night they had beef burgers with cheese. When the burgers came out I thought 'great' because they were proper meaty burgers.

My excitement was soon turned to disgust when I cut two of them open to find raw pink meat and bloody juices inside. It's no wonder that 5 people on our block (2 adults and 3 children) came down with a bad sickness and diarrhoea bug which one of them actually needed an injection in the backside from the doctor for!

A lot of the kids on the holiday went without at mealtimes, not through lack of want and trying by their parents, but through lack of quality food...and a hungry child is not a happy child, which is why you see so many kids sitting by the pool munching on huge packets of crisps! Not really what you want especially when you've paid so much to go All Inclusive.

The rooms are pretty standard but unbelievably clean. The maids come every day and are really nice. Our rooms was a tip but they got on with it and did what they had to do. You cannot fault the hygiene at this place, it is spotless.

Everywhere on the resort is scrubbed every day, it just was a little dangerous sometimes when you saw them rinsing down the kids electrical rides with a hose!

I wouldn’t really advise your kids going on them as most of the time they were dripping wet through!

The beach is a pebble beach so was a bit of a letdown. The nearest beach is Lindos which we didn't go to but is apparently really nice. It’s about 15 minutes away and everyone who went loved it.

The holiday was a bit of a letdown but the kids had the time of their lives...barr the food! Would I go again?.... I don’t think so, infact No.

" I felt the need to add my review... "

I felt the need to add my review having read what's been written about Kiotari Bay.

My husband myself and our 2 girls spent a fantastic 2 weeks there last summer.

Yes it is a little out of the way but we hired a car and saw as much of the island as we could.

The hotel staff were lovely especially Nansi who was most helpful.

The food was a hit and miss- some days fantastic others not. Thank goodness for the 2 Italian chefs-known as 'the pasta men' by my 5yr old.

As for First Choice... Kirsty the rep was great. Very honest and very funny!!

Our girls went to the kids club and enjoyed it, the girls who run the club did a fab job and from what we saw were very popular with the children.

The room was dingy (hardly the girls fault!) but there was lots of art displays etc that had been done to cheer it up! If the hotel could decorate and put some windows in...

During our stay First choice did bring some entertainers in, and as a previous reviewer said it didn't go too well.

My husband spoke with them one evening and they had been meant to be at The Aqua Beach Club in Kos but as that didn't happen, they'd been split up and moved to other resorts.

Despite the dramas we would return to Rhodes as it is a fantastically friendly and beautiful island.

" This holiday was great!

This holiday was great!

Our first impression of Kiotari Bay was great even though it was at night, we could tell that it was a fun-packed holiday!

When we arrived at our room it was spacious and neat.

I went with the family. We all noticed how clean and big the pool was and my child was always getting in there until it shut!!

All of the Animation Team welcomed us and they were great with all of the kids!
There was a mid-day game for all the family to play it was a different game every day which was fabulous!

The night entertainment was amazing! With a different theme each night! My child enjoyed each night and couldn't help smiling.

But... the next day to my father-in-law's surprise, he couldn't find his tooth brush my daughter and him was looking every were for it. Then the maid came in ready to clean the room and in her bucket was his tooth brush!

We overall had a great holiday and all thanks too the team: Roy, Jerry, Tom, Rhian, Aurel, Arthur and Rhonda!

" If you think drinking out of plastic... "

If you think drinking out of plastic glasses chewed by children, sitting in reception all night because the all inclusive bar had the wide screen TV at one end (full blast) while at the same time music was blaring from the sound system, and they were try to entertain the kids in the same room at the same time then this is the place for you.

The bar was staffed by people ignoring the no smoking signs, and when asked about it just shrugged his shoulders. We were with a wedding party and had to watch the bride (my sister) the groom (future brother in law) the brides mother amongst other people getting stressed and worked up, on what should have been a stress free holiday.

On the second week we were moved to the other complex for food and drinks as the hotel closed for the end of season only to be greeted by Germans who made it quite clear they didn’t want anyone on their part of the complex, eating and drinking in their hotel and bar. The applause when we left on the Saturday night was very touching though. If that sort of behaviour happened at a so called top hotel in England they would be throwing the racism card in your face.

The wedding was booked 18 months in advance and yet absolutely nothing was organised, they had meetings with wedding planners who told them to organise every thing and she would get back to them. There was a total lack of communication from one part of the hotel to the other. No reception was planned the bride and her partner had to do everything.

To conclude (or I will go on all night) very dissatisfied and will never visiting the hotel again.
