Pleased with the Plaza
Stayed at the Plaza for the first time last week. People were friendly, food was good, gambling was fun. Rooms were clean. I never noticed this "funny odor" in the casino that many others have written about. The price is right. The location fabulous. Pool was refreshing. No more strip for me. I will definitely go back to the Plaza again.
What's The Fuss??
If you're an uptight rich snob don't stay here. It's not a $300 a night resort. What you get is a reasonable room at a very good price. The casino looks old but has the old Vegas feel to it. In other words, you can win. Nice selection of restuarants. Best of all is that you're next to the Fremont Street light show. All the other casinos and food places of downtown are just a few steps away, no taxis or monorails needed. I like this place!
It's Not Jackie Gaughans Plaza Anymore.
It's been about 3 or 4 months since Barrick Gaming bought the plaza, and the changes are starting to show. The fantastic $2 craps game with 10X odds is gone, replaced by a $5 minimum with 3X4X5X odds. These are strip odds, for Pete's sake. At the Plaza? The casino still smells funny, though. Barrick should have changed that, and left the craps game alone. The Plaza has the ONLY Bingo room left Downtown, and the crew is fantastic.(The Western has Bingo, but the place is a certified dump). So please, Barrick Gaming, don't screw... more
had a great time
we had a great time in las vegas! i was really concerned about the plaza hotel, but it was not near as bad as the reviews led you to believe. the bathroom was small, but the room was clean. our first room's view was looking at a highway, but all we did was call to the front and ask for a room over looking freemont street. the food at the plaza i would not recommend, but just walk down the street to the golden nugget and you won't be dissapointed. i loved downtown, i have never won on slot machines like i did there. it was a blast and i... more
Unbeatable Fun
My 1st visit to Vegas in March 2004. I stayed in the Plaza with a room facing the Fremont Street light shows, which are amazing. The room was big, clean and comfertable. The hotel staff were very friendly, and the breakfasts were excellent. The gambling is the cheapest I found in Downtown, and the atmosphere here was the best I encountered from both Downtown and on The Strip. This is definately "real" Vegas compared to the commercialism on The Strip. Overall a fantastic 5 days and I can't wait to go back. I highly recommend this hotel.
Best Trip - Lots of Fun
I have stayed at many Hotels in Las Vegas, but for the value the Plaza cannot be out done. The staff is extremely courteous; the restaurants are good (the price is right too). I have visited the Plaza 3 times (4 counting this memorial Day weekend) I take my Mother to Vegas twice a year for the past 6 years, and we have stayed at the $$$$ Pricier Hotels on the strip and made the decision to stay at the Plaza again this time. I would recommend Plaza to everyone that wants a Great deal on a room in Las Vegas.
Expectations Met
My wife and I stayed at the Plaza in March 2004.It was my first time there and I was pleasantly surprised. While the place is old,our room was large and clean. The amount of money that we payed was a little over $400.00 for 7 nights which I thought was an excellent deal.I did eat at the buffet one morning and at the resturant a few times and the food was good. There was a small problem once where the waiyer had a hard time understanding what I was saying.Considering the amount of Phillopino workers here,I guess that this is really not a big... more
Lots of FUN!!!!
Had a great time here. The Dusty Baron show was outstanding. The chinese buffet was Excellent. Fremont St. much better than the strip. Looking forward to my next trip there.
Horrible Service
What a horrible experience we had here....... My husband and I came to Vegas to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. We stayed at the Golden Nugget but decided to renew our wedding vows and the only place I could find within walking distance of our hotel downtown was at the chapel in the Plaza. What a MISTAKE!!!! They were quick to take our money, but while we were saying our vows the "pastor" called me by the wrong name! Needless to say, we didn't buy that video. Well, we had to wait to have our picture sent to us in the mail and it... more
cheap but smells
It's sad to see that what once was a really classy place is now just a dinosaour compared to the new corperate giants. The Rooms are relatively small but good value for the price about 20 dollars weekday, 45 weekend. The bathrooms are so small it feels like your going into a closet. They are rather clean however. The casino is average. One thing that stands out is this incredible smell in the air, i do not know if it is from cigars or the air conditioning , but , it really stinks inside. I think the big pluses of staying here is - 1) the... more
