" Check-in was thankfully quick and... "

Check-in was thankfully quick and easy after a long flight from Manchester. Our room was spacious and the bed was about 7 foot square! Really comfy too. The large bathroom had a bath, shower cubicle and separate toilet in small room. The room facilities were large flat screen tv, hairdryer, in-room safe, iron and air con. The room was very clean and kept that way with plentiful supply of towels during our stay.
The pool area has not got a lot of character as it is a large concreted space with a small pool at either side.
The Casino and Miracle Mile shops were great and the location excellent.
We would go back to this hotel for our next visit to Vegas.

" I have just returned from Planet... "

I have just returned from Planet Hollywood and can honestly say this place is amazing! We flew with U.S Airways from Manchester via philadelphia so the flight to get there was long but when landing at McCarran Airport you get views over the strip and this brought us back to life....... We got a taxi from the airport to Planet Hollywood and admittedly did get ripped off the driver charged us $22 after driving us all over unnecessarily before getting to the hotel.

At check in there was no wait and we were seen to straight away, we asked for a fountain view room and was told that the upgrade would be around $260 for our 4 night stay but they decided that this could be written off and the upgrade given complimentary as we requested a smoking room we had more flexability. The fountain view room really is what makes this hotel a class above the rest.

The rooms are very large with a huge tv, we ordered room service which was reasonable priced, however, the miracle mile shops (the mall dowstairs) and the planet hollywood shops within the complex are very expensive and you can find things cheaper elsewhere.

We visited the Grand Canyon via helicopter on the Mavericks Wind-Dancer by Sunset they collected us from the hotel lobby and took us in a helicopter to the Grand Canyon and over Hoover Dam (around 45-60 mins) we had champagne and Snacks in the grand canyon (40-50 mins) then flew back as it was getting dark over the illuminated strip (35-45 mins)
A TIP: the only people that actually fly direct on this tour are maverick and although others advertise it dont actually follow the best flight path!!

We also got married at the little white chappel which was an experience, we went up the stratosphere - great but the american superstars show at the strat was a bit disappointing, we visited lots of different hotels for their attractions - none of them can be compared!!, rode the Manhattan Express at NYNY. The bellagio fountains are one of the most amazing sights ever and is a must we were lucky as we could watch from our room but some nights we did go down and stand by the edge to film the light, music and fountain show (not possible from room as windows do not open) it goes off from 3pm - around 12am daily every 15 mins and plays a different song to the fountains movements it gets VERY VERY busy at the front so sometimes you have to watch one show from the back and wait for the people at the front to move then move forward and wait until the next slot for a better view - well worth the wait!

Our overall experience of staying at PH is the staff are friendly and willing to help if its their area, but less willing to assist if its not their job (no tips) e.g. we asked the bell boys where the tour lobby was and didnt get much response also as it is a HUGE hotel if you asked any of the staff for directions back to the resort from casino or mall they didnt really want to help.

We will definately be returning to Vegas very soon and out of the hotels we visited wev will either stay at Hooters as the atmosphere is very laid back compared to the stiffness of the staff in the large hotels ot the stratosphere as this is where we found the most amazing food buffet all you can eat and drink for around $18.99 for the 2 of us!!

The U.S Airways flight from Las Vegas to Philadelphia was late and we had to run for our connecting flight - will not do this again as out of the 4 airoplanes we caught in less than a week with US Airways - all 4 were delayed!!

Cant wait to go back.

We stayed here over New Year. The rooms were very nice and clean. But beware. They catch you in the lobby to go across the road and buy a time share. They seem to target familes. If you have about four hours spare its ideal. But if you have not not ideal. Apart from that the hotel in ideal. My kids enjoyed this and they are 8 & 6. I would definatley go back.

" This was a special holiday as it was... "

This was a special holiday as it was our 25th wedding anniversary. We flew from Manchester with Delta to New York. The flight and service was excellent. Stayed in NYC for 3 nights then flew on to Vegas.

Even flying in to Vegas you get a tingle because the airport is next to the Strip. Then in the airport which is very new and spacious you realise that you are surrounded by slot machines.

The newly remodelled Planet Hollywood hotel was excellent. The Spice Market Buffet for meals was top notch. The casino was not one of the best but was ok for a small flutter.

Would recommend The Grand Canyon Ranch adventure (even my wife did the horse riding). Saw Sir Tom Jones and Penn and Teller both top notch. For these we used the half price ticket booths on the strip.

Try the Freemont Street Experience and the Stratosphere both are worth seeing.

Finally don’t forget to do a little bit gambling because that`s what Vegas is all about.

Stay in Vegas was 7 nights then on to San Francisco but that’s another story.

" We went to Las Vegas as a part of our... "

We went to Las Vegas as a part of our two week honeymoon and what an experience it was!

New York was our first stop 6 1/2 hours flying time from Shannon Ireland. It was a very busy city to busy for us, but it was a city that always wanted to go to. We got to see all the sights and attractions. We used the New York city tour bus which passed all the major sights. Three to four days is plenty in a city like New York.

Next stop was Las Vegas. It was amazing from the minute we landed at McCarran airport which was only about three miles from the famous Las Vegas strip. We stayed in the recently took over Planet Hollywood hotel and casino. Check-in was quick for the amount of people that was checking-in all at the one time. There was about 10 people behind the desk to give you directions to your room and complementary vouchers.

When we got up to our room which was on the 7th floor it had a breath taking view of the strip. The bedroom was massive, bathroom was huge and spotless, as was the room. In the room when we arrived they had bottles of water in a ice bucket chilled and waiting for you. It was a lovely thought as the weather outside was extremely hot as we arrived at midday, it was about 35 degrees. We then headed down one floor to the pools which was gleeming.

The casino itself was fab. As we started to play the slot machines a drinks waitress came to us and asked if we like a drink of any sorts, soft drink or beer or even a cocktail - it was FREE. As long as you were playing the machines or the tables all drinks were free all you have to give was a tip. That goes for every casino in Las Vegas.

The Restaurant Planet dailies was a bit expensive for what they were serving but it was in the casino so you could kind of expected it. There was NO SMOKING in any of the eateries but you could smoke everywhere else. Even the streets were cleaned every day as you would expect due to the large crowds that would walk it everyday.

To us it was well worth its money for 7 days in the beautiful sin city. We will in be back soon, as we loved everything about it. We ended our honeymoon in Orlando Florida which in our book nothing could beat Las Vegas.

" Just returned from a 2 week stay at... "

Just returned from a 2 week stay at the Planet Hollywood Resort. I was a bit unsure after reading many bad reports but was impressed with what we found.

Taxi journey to the hotel took 10 mins and the check-in wasn't too bad. After reading various ways to get a better room we decided just to ask for a room that had been refurbished already. We were told they were kept for the " big players" checking in but since we were staying for a long time ( usual stay in these hotels is 2-5 days) she was sure they could accommodate us. We were told to check back in a few days. Check-in girl who I think was called Liana was really nice and pleasant and we went away with high hopes of getting a refurbished room. Unfortunately when we returned two days later to check-in the girl that day wasn't so nice and there were no rooms available. We unpacked and got on with our holiday. I would recommend tipping to get a better room. I couldn't believe what other rooms people ended up with. If you've got the nerve to go for it then why not.

The main foyer and casino area have been renovated and looks fab. Very modern and bright with lots of neon light but not tacky in any way.

The rooms were very comfortable but I would say in need of renovation as they are looking a bit tired, but nothing like as bad as some of the reviews I had read.

Bed was huge and comfy, fabulous big bathroom with tub and huge shower. Ask for a view of the fountains as the view we had was of the back of the building and the roof of the theatre, not very nice but hey you're in Vegas to enjoy yourself not sit in your room.

Housekeeping was ok but not the greatest. Sheets were changed nearly every day however there was a lot of dust etc on the bathroom floor which did not seem to get cleaned the whole time we were there. One day a dirty pillowcase had been left and another day no towels at all left in the room.

We tried the buffet at night and breakfast and they were fine. Not as nice as the Bellagio but much nicer than Circus Circus. ( Do not eat there if you can help it. Food very cheap but inedible). Planet dailies is classed as a coffee bar but served everything you could imagine but i thought it was a bit pricey.

Great shoping in the desert passage mall. Normal everyday shops that are affordable. Watch out for the thunderstorm every half hour in the centre of the mall.Good to watch if you've never seen it.

The only down side of this hotel in general would be the staff at the pool. Everyday we went and they could not even acknowledge you when you were collecting towels. The staff at the pool bar weren't any better and no help whatsoever in suggesting drinks etc. Although we found this at quite a few bars in Vegas. This was not the case 5 years ago when we found the Americans to be very friendly.

To sum up:
Fantastic holiday, soaring temperature( 110 degrees most days), great location centre strip, fabulous food( try all the buffets in the good priced hotels, they are a bit more expensive but worth it)( if you just fancy chicken wings or a burger head to Hooters for great cheap food), good hotel but I'm sure it will be even better when finished the renovations.

I would definitely go back again to the Planet Hollywood resort as none of the bad points have put me off, but I'd wait until it was complete and I'd definitely ask for an upgraded room the next time.

" Flights booked though MyTravel and... "

Flights booked though MyTravel and hotel independently.

Stayed at Planet Hollywood for two weeks (yes, you read it right - the Americans we spoke to think we're crazy to stay for that long as most do long weekends or 4-5 days at most).

Hotel was still in the transition from Aladdin to Planet Hollywood, with a lot of it done, however front of hotel onto the strip was still 'under construction'.

Check in is a vision of chrome, granite and neon and looks pretty impressive. Pleasant guy in reception who gave us a room with partial view of the Bellagio fountains (without any additional charges) Managed to check in immediately, which from experience can be a bit of a rarity in Vegas.

Flew Premier Gold with MyTravel, so got off plane first, through Immigration quickly - another rarity, and luggage off first, straight through and got a cab ($12). So, from touchdown to being in room took less than an hour - excellent.

On the whole the rooms don't appear to have changed from the Aladdin days, except for a couple of framed movie stills, and a glass cased piece of movie memorabilia on the wall. Had two king sized beds in the room, which were comfortable. Adequate clothing space (drawers and wardrobe), iron, and board, TV with enough channels to find something you want to watch(!), and most importantly they were clean and cleaned daily.

Now, the bathroom is something else. I love having a soak in the tub, and this tub did not disappoint!! There was plenty room enough for two in there, and was nice and deep, with bathwater up to my chin (heaven!). Lighting is nice and bright, huge mirrors, a free standing hand mirror, plenty of space around the sink for toiletries, and an in room hairdryer which was better than my own. Copious amounts of towels and complimentary toiletries were also replenished daily. In addition to this there is a separate good sized shower cubicle and the toilet is in a room inside the bathroom.

Casino: Transformed into lush red, granite black polished floors, chrome, and neon - very glam. Played the slots and found them to be fairly loose - a nice surprise for a new(ish) strip casino.

Pool area: Nothing special really, but plenty of sunloungers for everyone. There are two pools, that didn't appear to be big enough for the size of the hotel, yet even on the busiest days weren't crowded. Vegas tends to get busier on a weekend, and you could definitely notice it around the pool. I understand that PH have big plans for the pool area - but nothing done so far.

Miracle Mile/Dessert Passage shopping arcade: Still undergoing transformation, however it looked as though the retailers had not changed. Not a lot of bargains to be had there, but two ABC stores were handy for snacks and drinks to take to the room.

Eating out: Plenty of eateries around the hotel and Miracle Mile. Sampled the foods of The Spice Market Buffet at breakfast and dinner (loads of variety, nice food and well worth the $), the Cheeseburger Cafe (didn't think it was possible to have so many variations of a humble burger, but there you go!!), The Sports Bar (huge portions as you would expect in the US).

Didn't try Planet Dailies (24hr cafe) as it was overpriced for what it was. Having stayed at the Luxor in the past, where there are many varieties of eateries at various reasonable prices, made PH seem a bit of a letdown in that respect.

Plus points: - ideal location for access to most of the strip hotels - nowhere is too far to walk, and managed to ditch the obligatory trainers from time to time!
- Fantastic bathroom

Minus point: Walls in room paper thin - you can hear EVERYTHING!!
- Bland and boring pool area

One final word, pretty much everywhere you look at the moment on the strip is a building site, loads of renovations and new build going on - don't let that put you off though it’s still an amazing place and should look pretty impressive when it’s all done.

" We stayed at the Aladdin hotel and... "

We stayed at the Aladdin hotel and casino, which is on the strip in las vegas. It was in the process of being taken over by planet Hollywood, and was wonderful. There are many restaurants to choose from but the best was the spice buffet, which was a set fee and can you can eat all you like.

There was everything you could want, seafood, steaks, all nationalities of cuisine and enough cakes and puddings to cause you to pay extra on your flight home! The strip in las vegas is well worth going to see, everyone we met went there at least once a year, many went there more.

We never go back to places we have already been but this would be the exception. There is so much to see, each hotel has a different theme, and the food and entertainment to match. The Aladdin where we stayed has a great shopping area in the theme of Arabian markets.... once an hour there is a rain storm in the market place, sounds corny, but it’s worth looking at.

The Venetian hotel is a must for shopping, inside its like the streets of Venice, along with rivers, gondaliers and singing.... The Mgm has a lion enclosure in the lobby and it is well worth a visit. The shows and the casinos are amazing and contrary to belief you do not have to spend a fortune to enjoy your self. If you tip the waitress the drinks keep coming. It’s a town that doesn’t sleep, no clocks, no windows, steak and Eggs at one in the morning.......its fun.

" What an amazing hotel its like a 10... "

What an amazing hotel its like a 10 star.

When we arrived (by Virgin the best airline I’ve ever gone with) we asked if we could be upgraded and we go a massive room overlooking the strip with a king size bed, a massive living & seating area and a massive marble bathroom with his/her sinks. The hotel facilities were great lots to do gambling, shopping, great food and the shows were brilliant.

If you have to eat anywhere else go to the top of the Stratosphere tower its an amazing revolving restaurant with amazing food. I will be going back to the Aladdin.

" Huge hotel, casino and leisure... "

Huge hotel, casino and leisure complex in an excellent location on the Strip across the road from the Bellagio.

The hotel is fairly reasonably priced and because the hotel is fairly new the rooms are in good order. The rooms are not as big as in some other Las Vegas hotels but they are adequate. The views from the rooms at the front are exceptional but you usually have to pay extra for the privilege.

The casino itself isn't as busy as most of the other Las Vegas casinos but this is a bonus. The Desert Passage shopping mall is excellent and the Commander's Palace restaurant is highly recommended.
