I think this hotel is just a little too large for its' own boots. It's more of a huge cave, with lots of ants running around. The queue's for check-in were a little long for my liking, and we ended up in a ground floor room that I wasn't overly pleased about because... more

The Luxor was a fantastic hotel. The casino was enormous, and the staff were very friendly. Only slight problem that we had was that a few of the pools were closed for maintenance while we were there, and so with only 1 available to use it was very full. There were... more

Well, this was my 3rd stay at the Luxor and it was still up there with the top Vegas Hotels! The Casino feels more 'airy' than most and is pretty well laid out. The rooms are quite spacious and have always been very clean. It is quite novel beginning in a pyramid shaped... more

The Luxor is excellent, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and concur with most of the other reviews we've read. Loved the spa suites (well worthwhile) and the ambience in the hotel. Only one pool open when we were there but didn't affect us too much. One serious gripe though.... more

We went to Las Vegas to get married and had the time of our lives. The hotel was great and the whole Las Vegas experience was one we will never forget. A visit to the Grand Canyon should be high on your list of things to do while you are there. There are so many things... more

The accommodation was excellent in the Luxor. There was plenty of ways to get around Vegas and all were an experience. The hotel and tour staff were very helpful, they were able to provide knowledge on numerous subjects all of which came in use. The tours were very easy to... more

We stayed in one of the corner spa rooms which provided us with a little more luxury and sitting in the spa looking out over Vegas especially after the long flight was heaven. The Luxor is quite an impressive hotel and you cannot stop looking around. Unfortunately the desk... more

I went to the Luxor as part of a group of three friends who all had dreams and ambitions to hit the jackpot in Vegas. It was very telling of our surroundings that there wasn't one argument throughout the whole 10 days of our holiday, it was just one big rollercoaster of... more

Almost all the hotels on the Las Vegas strip blow your mind with their sheer size and extravagance. Luxor is no exception and on first exploration is a fabulous luxury hotel. The hotel's sheer size does make it impersonal but service was always first class. Plenty choice... more

above average hotel
The front desk went pretty quick(about 7 min.) We stayed in the pyramid which was better that other reviewers had said. The room was clean and everything worked properly. We had a great view on the 28th floor looking north up the strip. The only problem was the long lines for the taxis.
all beauty no brains
I had a jacuzzi suite at the Luxor. The jacuzzi sits in front of a window overlooking the mountains. It is wonderful and the Egyptian theme is carried through the room down to the slanted windows that maintain the shape of the pyramid. The outside glass is tinted to make the Luxor pyramid look black. As a result the room is not bright even on a sunny day. The room does not supply enough light even with lamps. The bathroom has lighting over the vanity and sink but none near the shower. The bathroom is large so half of the room is unacceptably lit. There is no internet access anywhere in the hotel inclucing the business center, there is no place in the hotel to purchase any show tickets or event tickets. There is no coffee maker in the room and room service is slow. The staff is functional but far from courteous. When you approach the elevator to your room the guard does not say may I see your room key please, but rather "room key!". Overall the hotel is a beautiful place but with no substance and not an inkling as to the meaning of truly being service oriented. all beauty no brains! m. rosenberg
The Most Amazing Hotel Ever!!!
If you stay at the Luxor, try and get a room in the Pyramid. It has awsome views both on the "inside" and "out". The Pyrimid is all hallow and has an open space about 20 stories high, so the view on the inside is incredible. The view on the inside is far better than any other hotel on the strip. The Egyptian theme is really neat. The rooms are high class 4 or 5 stars, really clean and funky. The only thing that's strange is the elevator in the pyramid because it goes up on an angle and you have hold on to the railing otherwise you'll end up losing your balance as it moves. I even won $12 on the Evil Knevil slot machine just using a buck in nickles. The buffet is good, and slightly elegant; although you can take the suttle across the street to the Excalubor and pay 1/3 less for about the same kind of buffet, just that the atmosphere is slightly less elegant. Don't believe what others write about this hotel because it's "very decent!"
Hotel is ok, but stay for the spa
We stayed at the Luxor - in the pyramid - last summer. The hotel was interesting, but the Egyptian theme got to be a bit much. The best part about this hotel is the Oasis Day Spa. The package I booked was excellent and the spa itself is very nice.
Luxor is not accomodating to the handicapped
My wife is handicapped. We were able to use wheelchairs for no charge at every casino except for the LUXOR where we were staying. We were told to call Security and they would come with a wheelchair and take us anywhere in the hotel. We called Security to help us find a place in the hotel for dinner. We called for a wheelchair to get us to the "Blue Man Group Theatre" in the hotel. The security personel were uniformly surley. They told us that we should rent a wheelchair for $11 per day.
Luxor is very nice & p.s. to San Jose...
We've stayed at the Luxor a couple of times, once in the pyramid and a couple of times in the tower. The pyramid rooms are interesting and fun, but the tower rooms are very nice - just a little bit of a trip to the casino. (and p.s. to San Jose - we "midwesterns are loud because we're SO used to calling in the cows you know - and how very nice you could find restaurants to suit your delicate eating habits).
Great Stay
Just returned from a 8 day trip to Vegas. Spent 4 of those days at the Luxor. I was very pleased with the hotel. Stayed in the tower rooms and found them very clean and comfortable. Very nice bathrooms. The casino was friendly and found 5 dollar games most of the time. The pool area was also nice, not the best I have seen but is was comparable to most. I highly recomend staying at this hotel.
The Luxor has earned a loyal customer!!
IT WAS THAT GREAT! This was my first trip to Las Vegas, so I was in complete awe of the entire scene. I was extremely impressed with the Luxor hotel. We stayed from March 28th-April 1st in the East Tower. The first 2 days we didn't even leave the hotel although we had every intention of doing so!! The service is unbelievable and there is so much to see and do within the hotel, why leave right away to check everything else out when it's so great where you already are. We won NO MONEY but we had an excellent time losing! IMAGINE THAT..lol The minute you sit down at a table or slot a waitress is there, and makes a speedy return. The dealers were great even if you weren't a big spender. (especially Mike Epstein) :-) The buffet is reasonably priced delicious food and the service was always quick. Our room was clean, we had no disturbances from cleaning staff, or other hotel guests. The pools are wonderful! The Luxor is a bit of a trek from the rest of the excitement on the strip, but that's what is good about it. As long as you know how to get around, (outside of walking) The Luxor is perfectly located. Just like in your home neighborhood; the excitement is fun to visit, but who wants to live there. They have convenient trams from The Luxor to Mandalay Bay and The Excalibur. You can also take a a pedi ride on the strip, or for .65cents take a bus that stops at all the hotels. LAST BUT NOT LEAST..... The Luxor is home of The Blue Man Group. I CANNOT SPEAK HIGHLY ENOUGH of this show. It is EVERYTHING!! It's hysterical, exciting, intelligent, mysterious!! Of all the shows available this one is a MUST SEE! PHENOMENAL!!YES, we did play on the strip. We went to Bellagio, Caesar's Palace, New York New York, Flamingo, The Venetian........... so on and so on......... but The Luxor was absolutely the best. And so......... I cannot wait to return. We are already planning our next stay!!!
Luxor varies but worth the stay
Have stayed yearly or more at the Luxor for four years. First the good, Love the upgrades on inexpensive pyrimid rooms to a pyrimid jacuzzi room for 50 bucks, love the roomy jacuzzi's next to large tinted windows so you can look up at the sky from the tub, late checkouts never seem to be much of a problem if it is not a holiday or big event weekend. The staff is willing to accomodate if rooms are available and you want a change. Room service is really excellent and can be ordered to arrive at any set time and it is on time. The fruit platter is big and very nice, so are the croissants, my husband was happy with the other menu items. At New Year's it is a great place to be to watch the fireworks slide up the strip, you can see from Mandalay bay as far as MGM pretty easily. The Luxor is the only hotel I have stayed in in Vegas with some healthyand appealing choices on the room service menu. Staff has always been courteous and accomodating whenever we stay. They have a good business office. Most pyramid views are neat. The pyramid rooms are of of course, smaller towards the top but it is cool to stay there, there are fridges and extra tvs in the jacuzzi suites, bathrooms are generally large. On windy days the wind whips around the top of the pryamid and it sounds like wolves howling, very cool. In the spring when the insects are hatching they fly into the beam on top and attract thousands of bats, so from a distance at night the beam looks like it is full of confetti, really, really cool. The casino is small and smokey but fairly loose slots, and the walkways and monorails to Mandalay Bay, Excalibur etc., make those hotels and the MGM and New York fairly accessible on foot for fit people. The Isis restaurant is wonderful, the New York style deli downstairs though small is great, reasonably priced and does take out, the japanese restaurant is good, and the steak house is good. The 24R shop downstairs has plenty of drinks, necessities, snacks, etc.. Now the negatives, Although over the past year manytill looking worn. Most of our visits have had quiet rooms with courteous neighbors, but if you get a loud neighbor, listen up you midwestern visitors and young visitors splitting rooms, you can hear everything at all hours, also the crowd there is very young due to the hot night club RA, so loud kids in hall on big night club nights are common, smokers who travel with non-smokers often stay with them on the non-smoking floors and tend to try to smoke in the halls, this can float into the rooms. The hotel is huge and walks to any destination even from the elevator to your room can be long and will burn some calories. Some views are the pits, a few only look out on runways, some the parking deck of Mandalay bay. Once in a while they wash the pyramid so if you hear someone loudly walking on your window no one is trying a stunt outside, they are just sending an enormous automatic washer over the building. The chinese restaurant is really average to poor. The pyramid cafe is always crowded and the food there is so so. Checking in and out is usually a nightmare due to the long lines so if you can do express checkout it is worth your time. No safes in the rooms, they have safety deposit boxes downstairs which are nice but there is usually a line and a long wait to get into them. On off hours you need to track down desk staff on the other end of the extremely large, long counter to open the boxes. Also the box staff share the foreign phone and fax area of the desk so waits can be long but they do try to keep up with it.
Better Deals Elsewhere!
We stayed here in 1999. We also stayed at the Mirage during the same trip and it was disappointing to go to this place. Check in was a disaster, it took over an hour. The pyramid is pretty impressive though. The rooms were bad IMO, we stayed in the pyramid itself. It was small, with very little decor, think of a standard Days Inn. Pool was bad, white concrete everywhere....bad idea in sunny Vegas! It was hard to see anything there between the light off of the black pyramid and the white floor. The pool was small too and pretty crowded. This is a nice hotel to VISIT and be amazed by the Egyptian theme, but it is not a good place to stay. Out of all the Vegas resorts my son and I have been to (Monte Carlo, Flamingo, Mirage, Aladdin), this has been the worst one.
