We stay here every year for a skiing break. The hotel is great, family run with great cuisine and fab hosts. The place is very friendly, clean and nothing is too much trouble. Après Ski at the hotel is very traditional rather than mad but everyone gathers here after skiing for a good drink and a laugh. You can have mad après ski at Zardinis, at the foot of the Stienplatte, with free ski bus to take you back. Also St Johann is only 7km away and doesn't cost much for a taxi-the night life here is lively.
Don't let the lack of bars put you off the lovely village of Kirchdorf, we have had many a good night and very late sessions-it is not that quiet! There is a small bar in the village with staff that treat you well and the beer is cheap too! Also all the other hotels are more than happy to welcome you for a change of scenery.
Our holiday would not be complete without staying at the Alphof as the hotel is truly charming.

A delightful family holiday in the magnificent surroundings of the Austrian Tyrol. Alpbach is not just a skiing village but a super centre for exploring the breath-taking scenery of the nearby mountain ranges, reached by impressive cable cars.
A very different holiday for a family of four but we needed to get away from the stress and strain of everyday life. The walking was tough but my girls enjoyed the challenging walks which were excellently sign posted. After a day in the mountains there was nothing better than to return to our super hotel, Alphof.
The facilities there were top class: spacious leisure facilities and fantastic cuisine each night. A holiday with a difference with something for the whole family to enjoy.

The second time we've stayed at the Alphof now and it was as equally enjoyable as the first. The staff are amongst the most helpful i've ever come across, will go out of their way to help you. It has a swimming pool to unwind in after skiing on the slopes and even better it has a boot room that doesn't stink to high heaven. The only reason I haven't given it full rating is because the food wasn't that great and the apres-ski rather limited. But, don't let this put you off, wonderful place to stay, highly recommend it.
