Lovely Hotel in a quiet area of Madeira. Just come home from here after long weekend away. And not disappointed at all.
On entering my room I thought this is nice, clean and roomy and with a lovely sea view /garden view out towards the Lido.
My parents called and said wow huge room, my sister in law at this point was quiet. So after unpacking and getting to grips I went to check out there’s and make sure what I had booked was all ok... and wow yes they had huge rooms infact a suites nice i thought, glad this is ok takes pressure off me as i done the work.
I booked through Hotelopia and this was working out around £30 a night per room b&b. The rest of the hotel did not disappoint either nice heated pool outside and one indoors too. Good gym with full spa massage facilities. Games room for snooker another for cards which incorporate a library and internet facility. Lots on offer here including an outdoor games area incorporating a small pitch and putt. Free shuttle to and from Funchal to be used but best to book the day before this can get pretty full at times so book in advance to save taxi fares or the need to use the local bus system which has a stop just 50 metres from the hotels frontage.
The breakfast was good a buffet style that incorporates a full English option and take cares of the lighter continental style too plenty and good. We didn’t use the Buffet on the evening but we used the A-La-Carte one evening that was good although to be honest our best meal during our stay was at a local restaurant. When we checked in we were offered a package for 3 evenings all for 69euros each, buffet or a-la-carte, buffet to include a half bottle of wine. A decent offer but we wanted to take advantage of local restaurants for our freedom.
The entertainment wasn’t all to our liking although it wasn’t bad just maybe catered for an older audience than us as in the main January Madeira see a larger elder proportion of visitors.
Would I be happy to stay here again, the answer is yes I would, would I be happy to recommend this hotel to friends, the answer again here is yes. Although I would not recommend this hotel or Madeira for the more lively party set.

Hotel still excellent, very clean, large rooms.
As there was a wedding reception in the dining room on Saturday night the hotel put on a pool side barbecue 18 Euros including sangria.
Buffet breakfast about the same as most 4 star hotels, we did not eat in the Hotel at night but tried the shacks and bars on the prom just outside the Hotel.
Try the one on the far right meal for two & drinks from 25 Euros ( food excellent ), also the fish restaurant farther along was really good.
The day of my birthday the hotel put a bottle of wine & two glasses in the room (nice touch ) must have got my D O B from the passport as we did not tell them.
Reception staff very helpful and will book trips for you and issue tickets.
A nice Hotel and will certainly return sometime.

We (a couple late 40's) visited this hotel in July 2007 for a 12 night stay and thought it was the best hotel we have ever stayed in. The rooms (we had a suite made up of bedroom with balcony, en suite bathroom/shower room, living room with balcony & kitchen area) were lovely, very clean and a good size.
There was a hob, fridge, sink, kettle & fully equipped kitchen area, so we could cook basic meals if we wished. The food in the hotel was good so we didn't cook much and there were other restaurants within walking distance (1/2 mile or so- though transport a good idea).
There's a fantastic sea view from most (if not all) rooms and it's very close to the Atlantic Ocean. There is a promenade along the seafront, accessible via a secure gate from the hotel, which is very pleasant to walk along especially after dinner in the evening and can be quite dramatic when it's windy and the waves crash onto the rocks.
The hotel has a wonderful salt-water swimming pool and small children's pool alongside and also a poolside bar. There are plenty of sun beds even so, some do reserve with towels, but it's not necessary as there are plenty.
We found all the staff friendly and helpful and the manager held a weekly poolside cocktail party to meet residents and chat to them- a good idea to get feedback.
There is evening entertainment but it's nothing special. We enjoyed it, but we're not really into nightlife, and some may find it boring. Not really suitable for those who like a wild night on the town.
Plenty of free parking at the hotel if you hire a car, though very hilly roads, quite scary in places. Very accessible to the airport and Funchal itself.
The hotel has a talking parrot and even though I'm not into caged birds she seems quite happy and enjoys being the centre of attention, as many people go and say hello and talk to her. She has quite a vocabulary. I think her name is Rita.
There's a shop in the hotel lobby that was very useful for odds and ends like newspapers, chocolate, crisps, drinks and souvenirs. There's also a hairdresser that I didn't use. Also the hotel has an indoor pool for the cooler months. There is a gym with exercise bikes and other equipment to keep fit.
Breakfast is quite something with almost anything you could wish for. Daytime snacks are available at the poolside bar. Evening meals can be taken in a choice of two restaurants.
One evening the hotel staff moved the whole dining room outside (quite interesting to watch- it took all day!) and held a barbeque. It was fantastic. The food was beautiful with freshly BBQ'd meat & fish with veg, salads, sweets, and then entertainment with folk dancers - a wonderful evening.
I give this hotel 10 /10. We had a wonderful holiday. Fantastic hotel, great staff, wonderful food, good entertainment-just right for us. The hotel is in a quiet location away from it all and that was perfect for us.
The climate in Madeira was sunny & warm but not too hot, though quite windy here on many days even it wasn't in other parts of the island.
An excellent holiday I can't wait to return.

A first class hotel, excellent service, lovely clean rooms, very good breakfast, without doubt one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in.
Lovely swimming pool cleaned every day, reception staff very helpful, linen can be changed daily if you wish, bedrooms and bathrooms very spacious, courtesy bus to Funchal, for evening meals the restaurant "origins" is good and cheap.
I’ve already booked to go back next year....

We stayed for 2 weeks at the Oasis Atlantic Aparthotel in Canico de Baixo on the Island of Madeira. Madeira was lovely with a temperature in the 70f-78f day and night, even in September. The Oasis Atlantic has the sea right outside but only a volcanic beach.
There is a free form pool, a children’s pool, a Jacuzzi and an indoor pool. There is access to free computers, a small gym, sun loungers, children’s facilities, sauna and nightly entertainment. There is a cash point on site or money exchange at reception. There is a shop, hairdressers, two restaurants and snack bar. The hotel is set in pleasant grounds and the staff were all lovely. Room service was excellent.
Everywhere was exceptionally clean and the food was good. For ones on a full board the barbecue is the only option on a Saturday evening. This is due to wedding bookings. We attended first week and paid 17 euros. There is a free courtesy bus from the hotel to Funchal. This needs to be booked in advance, usually the day before. There is a local bus stop right outside the hotel and free bike hire in the hotel (they only had 3 though). The hotel is a bit of the beaten track.
The bed was two singles pushed together but it was very comfy .Our room also had a full bathroom suite including bidet, TV, telephone and a safe. Safe hire was 20 euros with no return of money at the end. There was also a small fridge and kettle supplied. There were even beach towels in our rooms. I would thoroughly recommend for a relaxing stay but maybe not for teenagers or children. Wonderful.

This was our 1st holiday abroad with our 15 month old son. A little anxious. but no need. What a lovely hotel. Staff were very friendly/Welcoming. The hotel is kept immaculately clean, the cleaners are around cleaning all day long. Even the public areas were spotlessly clean.
A pretty hotel in a pretty well kept resort. Our only bother was that there are no supermarkets nearby, which is odd considering this hotel is also self catering. We had to travel into Funchal by bus to buy nappies or baby food! Or nearby is Canico but its not in walking distance and certainly not with a pushchair as it’s at the top of an incredibly long and steep hill. (But bus service was good, both local and courtesy).
Food was as expected. For breakfast Lots of fruit, cheeses, meats ,bread, croissants, cereals, yoghurts and plentiful cooked brekkie too. Bacon, scrambled egg, eggy bread (French toast) sausages, mushrooms, beans and so on. Coffee, juices.
Dinner was usually similar each night. Black scabbard fish, vegs, rice and pasta. Bread rolls. And lots of delish desserts.
Pool area was again, very clean. Indoor & outdoor pool. The hotel hosts wedding receptions on Saturday evening therefore the main restaurant is closed to hotel guests, so they put on a BBQ by the poolside. To get the fresh hot stuff its worth getting there at 6.30-7pm when it starts. They set the tables and BBQ area up through the day, straight after brekkie actually, so this also disrupts sunbathing throughout Saturday as they squash all the sun beds up to one side of the pool (sardine like) BBQ 17 euros unless you are half board then its free.
Rooms cleaned properly every day. Fresh towels daily (if requested) It seemed that all the rooms had a lovely view. Our room was lovely, large comfortable and airy.
On the whole, a really lovely holiday in a lovely place. A very relaxed atmosphere- no getting up at 7am to lay your towels out, always plenty of sun beds (even on a Saturday when they were squashed up)
Would we go back? Yes! To the same hotel? Yes.

First visit to Madeira thought it was a great hotel really clean. Food was good on a buffet service and all amenities were excellent. Entertainment every night but sometimes not great so went for a drink in little village up the road and even the hosts there were really good even though they could not speak any English but I did attempt a little Portuguese out of phrase book.
In august there was a food festival on the promenade and did excellent local food and cheap drinks. Lastly a mention for a local girl called Rita in the hotel (parrott } who kept everyone entertained.

A good 4* place to stay in a small resort. You can buy vouchers for 1/2 board by the day, the food was good, and as there aren't too many other places to eat locally this may be worth doing.
The bus stop is right outside, with cheap but uncomfortable 45 min journey to Funchal, buses return late at night too if you want an evening out.
All rooms seemed to have some sort of good sea view so not worth the supplement.
The pool is salt water, the beach outside is rocky and popular with locals, very clear water with lots of colourful fish to see close to the shore.
Would definitely return, a relaxing and friendly place.

I booked a one week holiday at the last minute with lastminute.com and managed to get a very reasonable deal staying at this hotel. I went alone and paid a minimal supplement for a sole occupancy (which can sometimes be rather expensive). My twin-room had a lovely sea and garden view and was a decent size.
I found the reception staff very friendly, helpful and welcoming and they all spoke very good English. The hotel was in very good condition and was kept clean to a high standard. There was a plentiful supply of food at breakfast which catered mainly for German and English tourists palates. Being vegetarian, there was not a great deal of choice for the evening meal in the hotel, but there were plenty of restaurants and cafes to choose from near by. In the reception area was a wonderful parrot named Rita who had an amazing repertoire of whistles and short sentences in both English and German! She was a delight to many of the guests!
If you feel like really treating yourself to some serious pampering and relaxation, then try the 'hot stone massage!'. There are beauty, hair and alternative therapy treatments available and the hot stone massage was very reasonably priced - very soothing! In the evening there was pleasant entertainment with singers, dancers and live music. The hotel also has a courtesy bus which goes to and from Funchal at several times of the day, it takes between 15-20 minutes, but it gets booked up quickly, particularly the first and last time slots of the day. However, there is a local bus.
A short walk out of the hotel takes you onto the sea promenade, which is a lovely stroll. It attracts keen joggers and speed walkers. The resort Canico de Baixo is fairly quiet and attracts predominately the senior age groups. I am in my middle thirties and found the resort to cater for all my needs and did not feel out of place on holiday alone. There were quite a number of homeless cats and dogs who reside around the resort area in the hope of kind tourists giving them tit-bits of food. They are quite harmless and really appreciate a loving stroke and some spare food!
Madeira is a beautiful island with lush, green scenery and mountains. There is an element of peace and tranquillity about it as the locals are generally relaxed and laid back. It is worth exploring the island and if you get the chance, try and go for a levada walk and visit the highest mountain peaks - a good way to see and feel the real Madeira. And for some exhilaration, the famous toboggan ride in Monte is a must! The weather at this time was warm with some sunny spells and cloudy some days, I did not return with much of a sun tan!
Overall, I would recommend this hotel, I had a lovely week there, and if it's a quiet relaxing holiday you're after, then this hotel and resort suits those needs.

We made a late booking for this holiday, based on allocation on arrival. We were not disappointed.
The rooms were beautiful. Cleanliness- a1. Staff extremely helpful and courteous.
Wide variety of food on offer, to suit all tastes.
We made good use of pools, gym, Jacuzzi, & sauna during our week- long stay.
Hotel entertainment was limited, but excellent music most nights.
The resort itself was quiet, but very relaxing.
This hotel is well worth a second visit.
