I just wanted to put a comment on here because some reviews frightened me a bit before we went, but I was very pleasantly surprised. True, I probably would not want to go here in the summer, but that is as much to do with the surrounding area as the complex - we are a middle aged couple!

We found the room to be kept very clean, with maid service 6 days out of 7. No, the sheets were not changed every few days, but to be honest I would leave mine on for a week at home -I'm not that dirty! Some of the decor is a bit dated, but this was a cheap holiday, and for the money it was very good. The equipment in the kitchen was above average, the room spacious and the bathroom clean and roomy.

The reception staff were always polite and we found them to be extremely helpful. On arrival, they gave us a map to find our room, but we struggled in the dark. However, the security guard noticed and came and put us oon the right path quite promptly. Our flights were changed, and the pick-up time had not been posted and it was no trouble for them to phone the resort office to find out the times. The large safe was a very reasonable price to hire and so we had no worries about security. We have nothing but praise for the money paid.

I would not travel here in the height of summer because it is positioned in a very busy spot near some of the large and very popular bars, but then I would not visit Tenerife at all then. Also I do not think the pool area would be big enough in peak season, but the beach area is very well equiped. It however is no problem at this time where the majority of holiday makers appear to be families or older couples, many from the Scandinavian countries. K&I

booked in for march next year first time ive stayed in that area usually the torviscas end theres a few mixed reviews there but i would try anything once bit put of with the getting burgled bit but i suppose thats life it can happen too anyone been too tenerife 9 times and its not happened yet as for the noisy nightlife am a part time dj so i will be use too it when i get back i will post what it was like as i have read all reviews and taken them into consideration thanks all

Me and two girlfriends (all 22 years old) have just come back from the hacienda and we had the best holiday ever! the hotel is basic but the staff are all lovely and the rooms are clean. we only saw 1 cockroach the whole time we were there and that was a funny experience in itself! there are a lot of stairs to pull your suitcases up but that also was a funny experience! the pool area is small but we spent most of the time on the beach which is only a few minutes walk down the hill. the hotel location is perfect if you are there for the nightlife, with everything u need on your doorstep. also go to loro parque- amazing!



it is a hotel for younger people so there is a bit of noise at night but hardly any at all. so if you're young and looking for a cheap hotel in the centre of the action go to the hacienda del sol!

My friend and I stayed at these apartments for a week in september 08, after reading the comments we was very unsure off what we was to expect..

I must say, it was nothing ref what we had read..



We did hear the younger girls come in in the early hours, but thats wasnt everynight.



It was clean, maids came in everyday, staff very polite and helpful, ideal place great location....close to everything.



Sunbathing on the beach was annoying at times wth the amount of chinese ladys wanting to massage you, we had 5 ask us in the space of 10mins....



I must say i would return to these apartments again.

A very good 'value for money' holiday. OK so the Hacienda Del Sol is not 5 star but certainly a very good 3 star accommodation. I was a little concerned when booking at the apartments proximity to the night life around Linekers Bar, Murphy's, Yates's etc but my fears were unfounded, we could not hear them at all.

First thing to mention are the Hacienda staff, mostly Spanish but all spoke perfect English and all were very efficient and friendly.

The apartments were impeccably clean, comfortable and for once there was no premium to pay for a tv service which meant that we could keep in touch with events courtesy of Sky News.

I have read reviews about these apartments, one of which termed them as 'cockroach city' but it would not be a lie to say that we did not see one. People who harp on about cockroaches in Tenerife sicken me as they are a way of life on the island and can be found in 5 star accommodation, by no means are they a reflection of cleanliness of any particular apartments or hotel. The only thing that we saw in our apartment was a rather young gecko!

My only minor gripe is that the pool area is rather small for the number of apartments and sometimes it was impossible to get a sunbed. However the pool bar / restaurant was very good value and the quality was great.

If looking for good quality accommodation that is not going to cost you a fortune than I would highly recommend the Hacienda Del Sol. Being a seasoned traveller to Tenerife and having stayed in many different apartments I can say that these compare very favourably to those in the same star rating and budget

We have just stayed at this hotel for 14 days and if we could have moved to another hotel we would have been very happy to do so, the hotel is very basic, very clean and the staff were very polite and accommadating, BUT, if you want alot of sleepless nights then this is the place to be, we were not told by the travel agents that this hotel is mainly for 18's+ and not for people in their 40's or elderly and families with young children which were there while we were, the noise level were very bad espscially from around 3am onwards with people reurning from the clubs singing and shouting, doors being banged, door bells constantly being rung and much much more, this was waking nearly everyone in the hotel, so, if you are wanting a quiet and relaxing holiday then this hotel is not the place to be as you will be woken every night.

I can't believe everyones moaning on here?? I went there last year with my mate we were only 18 and it was the best holiday ever!! Yes there were cockroaches but my god you get over them, what do you expect in a hot country? I do think it does depend on what room you are given because ours was fine! And luckily we didnt get robbed which is shocking to hear. Im thinking they must have new security guards on the apartments now to what they had last year! We really enjoyed our holiday and was thinking of going back for a quick week at the end of the month...maybe we might stay in different apartments but last year they were fine!!!



Any one going soon....check out METT BAR...facing edwards down the little bit near Yates's and Linekars...The best bar by far and the barmen..yummy!! Tramps is also great to go after as its open till 6!! AND you must have some laughing gas...its funny...literally!

I'm 18 years old and I'm just back from a weeks holiday with five mates at the Hacienda Del Sol apartments (29th July - 5th Aug)



When we arrived, we were not overly impressed. We had to drag our suitcases down several flights of stairs before reaching our room beside the tiny swimming pool. When we got inside our room we found that it was like an oven, and had no air conditioning. We also found that although we had a television and a fridge, neither worked.



However, we put up with these faults, as well as the squeaky beds and numerous bugs, and managed to have ourselves a great week. On the third day, when we found that our safe no longer recognised our security number and would not open, we weren't terribly suspicious. However, looking back we should have been.



On the last night of our holiday, we returned to our rooms after a night out to find the place trashed; drawers and cupboard doors flung open, suitcases unpacked and bags emptied on the floor. We had been robbed. Altogether the thieves had stolen a digital camera, five mobile phones, two i pods and about 300euros. We panicked and ran to the security guards for help, but all they had to say was "We've had it to here with robberies" and turned their backs on us. We went to reception where we found the staff there equally unhelpful. They refused to phone the police, and refused to let us phone home. My friend then grabbed a policeman from the street and brought him into the hotel. The police were a lot more helpful, and took a statement from us, and gave us a police report.



We had gone out that night with our balcony door locked, out windows shut and our front door locked. We then left our key into reception, as we had been instructed to do when leaving the hotel. Therefore, someone, presumably hotel staff, was able to unlock our doors and violate our belongings. We found out that exactly the same thing happened to five other rooms that night, and the occupants of all five rooms 'coincidentally' were all returning home the following day. According to a barman, the exact same thing had happened the week before....nice of the staff to warn us.



I strongly advise anyone who has made plans to stay at these apartments to change their minds.

Me and my friend stayed in this hotel from 25th July to the 1st August 2008 and can I just say it was one of the worst holiday experiences of my life, firstly we arrived there, there was no lifts so we had to carry our 20kg suitcases all the way down the stairs which there was loads of.There were cockroaches running up and down the hall ways. We opened the door to our room and the first thing we saw was yet again cockroaches!The room was dingy and dirty, we laid on the beds and they were just awful really uncomfy and very squeeky.



The next day we got up early about 9 oclock and asoon as we looked out on our balcony the pool was swamped with people lead on the sun loungers and the ones that didn't have people on had towels on, oh great we thought.



That night the two male security guards banged on our hotel door barged in asking for sex! Me and my friend were absoltuely distraught being only 19 we were very scared and can I say we were not pleasant with what we said to them and had to physically push them out the door, we spoke to other girls and we found out the security had done it to them too.



After a few days there apart from the cockroaches,squeeky beds, dodgy showers televisions that didn't work and the secuirty gaurds banging on the hotel door we were enjoying it, the hotel was very lively, families found it hard to sleep, wouldn't recommend families to stay there but being 19 we enjoyed the lively atmosphere.



HOWEVER we came home on the mon night and discovered that our room had been burgled they took everything cd players, makeup, clothes, handbages, money, designer clothes and sunglasses! Luckily we had hired a safe and put our passports, tickets and mobile phones in!When we told the security guards they said that we'd made it up and refused to ring the police. We were flustered and upset so a holiday maker ended up ringing from his mobile phone! When the police came they said there was nothing they could do about it because they could'nt speak English! We could not believe our bad luck, all the doors were locked and there was no sign of a forced entry, so as far as we are concerned we think it was the security guards because we gave our key into reception thinking they would look after if for us! After talking to the hotel manager he said that he didn't totally trust the security guards! If you've already booked to stay in this hotel good luck and get a safe please! Put everything in! If not I suggest you book somewhere else!

Just come back from a week in the sun with my three friends. The apartments are in a fantastic location. Right across the road were 2 supermarkets and fast food outlets as well as restuarants, bars and entertainment. They are very clean and plenty of room. You expect to get insects in hot countries but we only had 2 cockroaches in our room the whole week and no ants to talk about. Not bad when you are on the ground floor. Yes it was noisy in the early hours but then you expect that. So close to everything a 3 minute walk to Veronicas but we didnt hear the noise from that. The food at the bar and the staff were great. Would recommend this to anyone who wants to get away from it all. Mind you not for small kids as there is little other than the pool. Had a fab holiday and if you are going check out the Divine Soul club which is 5 minutes walk away - fantastic!!!

Felt i had to comment on my holiday as it was reading the reviews on this page that made me nervous about going!

I went with miss farnworth (above) for a week and we stayed in room 714. Considering we did not pay alot for this holiday atall the apartments could have got away with being worse! They were cleaned every day, even if they were in a state, and if you ask at reception the maids are happy change your bed linen more often than the 6 day allowance. Our balcony overlooked the pool and was surrounded by really pretty vegetation. The hotel is noisy... but so are all the others! If you realy want to get a good nights sleep, 1. why are you in tenerfie! and 2. take a sleeping tablet after 12 as thats when everyone goes out.



as for the cockroaches.... THEY ARE TINY!!! I was terrified about them having read that the apartments were infested,but i didnt see a single cockroach in the room. I did see some out on the street but to be honest if your staying near to the equator you have to expect it. Tenerife may have all the home comforts but it still has the climate of a tropical country.



As for things to do it is important to explore if you want to get the most out of your holiday. The main shopping area is a 4euro taxi ride away and you can pick up some great clothes and accessories. Also there is a market in Los Christianos which costs 6euros each way and is really worth it if your looking for fakes and leather handbags. I would also recoment the "Freebird" trip that takes you to see wild whales and dolphins.



Our rep for the week was lovely, my drink was spiked on the first night and she was really helpfull and supportive. If your in a group of girls, look after each other and dont get carried away. The barmen dont measure local spirits so you get drunker alot quicker than you would at home, if your in a big club i would suggest drinking bottles and they are harder to spike and you also know how much alcohol is in them. It is also easier to get seperated and lost in a big club, thats the only reason its better to not get so drunk there. For a great night out Linekers is a laugh also China's white does good deals. Have to recommend Bobbys foam party, just dont wear anything nice, it will get ruined! It is really hard to find nice places to eat though, Wigans pier is a rip off, Snappys (opposite) is good, but also anthonys sports bar by the beach serves good pizza.



Hacienda del sol was a perfect base for the week, all the staff are really lovely and helpfull when it comes to booking taxis etc. Dont worry about bugs!!! My final peice of advice is to chat to everyone at the apartments, the best way to have a good time is to make friends. The pool has a really good atmosphere and by the end of the week you'll all be going out together.

Me and my partner went on holiday to the hotel in May it was absolutely horrible no way would we ever consider staying in those appartments again! It cost an average price holiday and was an absolute rip off! Me and my partner are both young 19 and 21 and love to go out!but we would definately not have gone out there at night!!!!!! Unless there is a group of you do not bother staying in these appartments!

From reading other peoples reviews i think it must depend on the room that you get, because ours was hidious it was very very basic and there was cock roaches everywhere!!!(even by my head at night) we didnt eat in our room and they where still everywhere, i think people proberly didnt see them because they wernt in at night! but if you are be aware!

There was blood on our sheet, the sockets where handing off the wall there was a big hole in the wall by the balcony and cracked tiles big time! we have photo evidence of all of these because we will be complaining to first choice! The fact that your sheets get changed every 6 days is discusting! you dont get them changed once if you are there all week! and the towels get changed every 3 days! The maid has one day off a week which is fare enough but the reception could let you know of this day off! because you dont stand a chance of geting clean towels as we asked reception and they where EXTREMELY rude! The pool area stunk of cats mess or something!

Where do i start on the rep absolutely awful! First choice should be ashamed of the fact that she is representing them she loved the men 100% and we would hear her discussing where she was going to meet them at night! we booked a trip which she was very pleased about and gave us rubbish instruction on where we had to go to get the bus! we saw her every day and she never asked us if everything was ok! She loved to have a cigerette by the pool getting over her hangovers! She never informed us of any going home information! that me and my partner could pre book seats or anything! When we got to the airport she was there and ashe asked us if a group of lads got on the coach and that was all she was worried about!

Well all i can say is dont stay in these appartments the bar staff altho where friendly, If i represented first choice i would be ashamed that the rep was working for the company! and that i let my guest stay in those apparentments!

The flights where average altho they had sold out of nearly everything on the way back!altho appart from that they where ok! Also girls be careful the men out there cant take there eyes off you!

Just got back from a week at Hacienda Del Sol with my best mate, and I can honestly say it was AMAZING.

Like lots of people we were really, really put off by the reviews but DONT LISTEN. The apartments are great; clean and large. Maids come every day, towels changed when you want, bed linen once a week or more if you ask nicely at reception!

As far as cockroaches are concerned there was one in our room, it was about an inch long (so not exactly big) - i wouldnt call it an infestation!! Mozzies werent much of a problem either, any bites we got were because we left our window open at night!



The only thing i would agree with is that it is loud at night. Best time to go to bed (if you arent out on the town) is about 12ish when most people are heading out. If youre a light sleeper i'd suggest taking some Nytol or something (saved my life this week!). Wouldnt suggest this place for families but is absoloutely perfect if youre looking to party, and it IS possible to have a chilled out week here. To be honest, the whole of Las Americas is loud, it isnt just this hotel with a night-time noise problem!

The atmosphere round the pool during the day is great - but getting a bit sick of Closer by Neyo lol think it was played about 8 times a day! People reserve their sunbeds them night before by leaving their towels on the (bl*ody cheeky!) - just move the towels haha. Excellent pool bar, good cheap food and drinks. Just be careful of the house vodka, theres no such thing as measurements in Tenerife!!



The only warning id give is this: my friend had her drink spiked at Tramps on our first night - just be really careful with your drinks when youre out ('specially if youre in a girls-only group) - try and drink from bottles (we think it was the barman who spiked it) and dont put your drink down. I wouldnt say the experience ruined our holiday cos it didnt, but we didnt really go out after that. Dont let this put you off, just be careful when youre out :)



Drink spiking aside, we had an AMAZING week - met some wicked new people. DONT LISTEN TO THE OTHER REVIEWS!!!!!

was a wicked holiday al tho the security staff was rude and we had two cockroaches in our room it was great would recommend it to everyone under 25 coz in the middle of the night everyone comes back making so much noise so if you want a holiday where all you do is sleep at night then dont stay here,the pool was nice especially when you hot and sweatin the bar staff were wel friendly also there were always sunbeds to lay on, the bars were a laugh the clubs were amazin you have to definetly check out the foam parties at bobbys, have to go back soon, the prs got a bit annoyin, was only there for a week so didnt get chance to check out the beach altho it werent that far away
