We have just returned from a one week stay at the Sea Club Apts in Cala N Forcat. We chose this holiday on the back of the majority of reviews in this forum and on the whole. it wasn't bad.

Depends of course what you are looking for !!!!

We as a family of two adults, one 4 year old and a 6 month old baby had booked a one bedroom appartment and I have to say I was sorely dissapointed with the size of the living area of the apartment. The bedroom was fine, the whole appartment was air-conditioned with a ceiling fan. The living room come kitchen wasn't big enough to swing a cat in never mind live in which I suppose is the idea of self catering.

The bedroom is two single beds together for the adults and the second bed for the kid is a pull out bed in the living room underneath the sofa.

I certainly wouldn't have my kid sleeping next to the front door whilst we were in a bedroom at the back of the appartment.

That said, the cleanliness of the apartment was spot on with towel change and maid service every day apart from the day prior to leaving.

The weather was not the best but apparently only one person has the power to control this and he must have been holidaying somewhere else as the weather was not the best. Couple of days rain and a few thunder and lightening storms (mainly during the night).

Cala n Forcat itself is lifeless with absoloutely nothing to do but Cala N Blane is only a brisk 10 minute walk away and this area is jam packed with eating places but most of all activities for your kids are abundant.

Hire your car from outwith the hotel reps and you will get it for half the price with all insurances included and a zero excess in case of bumps.

Found this Island to be a very safe environment for you and your family and could relax in this belief.

Unfortunately if there was every an Island where the statement " ONCE YOU HAVE SEEN ONE BIT, YOU HAVE SEEN IT ALL" applies then this would be one of them.

The beach at Cala N Forcat appears to be shared with Cala N Blane and is absolutely terrible. It is a decent walk to the beach along a rugged track, not suitable for buggies, to a tiny beach ( about 30 - 40m wide) two portaloos and a snack bar. Best stay pool side would be my advise.

Finally despite all the negatives, the Island is clean, friendly and would suit families with young kids.

Hope this review helps but please condiser this is only the view of myself and my family and is only posted to share our experience in order that you can make an informed decision on your holiday choice.

Thanks

Ray

we stayed here for 10 nights with our 17 month old son and had a brilliant time.

totally family orientated and the menorcan staff couldn't do enough.

we were lucky to get a ground floor apt which had the splash park right in front of us (which our son loved) and it also meant that while our son was in bed, we could still watch the stage entertainment.

he also loved the kids mini disco of an evening and the kids club.

the playpark wasn't up to much (very small and dated) but this didn't bother us as we were either out most of the time or by the pool.

we hired a car as we found the local beach was very small but the beaches we liked were in cala n bosch and galdana...absolutely beautiful.

cala n forcat has many wonderful restaurants and shops. there is a waterpark in the town but we didn't use it as our boy was too young for the slides etc

the restaurants in the hotel do really lovely food too. i always found something i liked and i'm a very fussy eater.

maids came in daily and cleaned properly too

we left them a tip at the end as they were fab

all in all a brilliant holiday and will return someday

I attended the Menorca Sea Club for 2 weeks commencing 15 August 2008; there was my wife and I, accompanied by the 3 children 18year old girl and 2 boys, 7 and 9 years. I will mention a few hiccups I encountered there but overall I would say it is a fantastic family complex/resort. Lets start with the apartment; they are basic but suited our needs well, towards the end of the 1st week we noticed a really foul smell come into the apartment via the air conditioning, we spoke to resort staff regarding this issue and the sent a maintenance man to explore the issue, it was still happening 3 days later, each day we spoke to staff and they sent someone to have a look at it to no avail, on the 3rd day of the smell we asked if we could be moved to another room, staff arranged for us to move to another room the next day, problem solved. I would advise against buying lots of shopping from the on site shop as it is quite expensive, there are lots of cheaper supermarkets a short walk away. There is lots of entertainment and kids clubs to occupy the kids during the day. If your children are not joining the clubs, there are periodic games and events held at various times throughout the day and evening. The rep`s at this complex are fantastic, they do not constantly plague you to join in but let you know an event is about to start and make you feel welcome to join in. The rep`s will always have a seemingly genuine smile and will try very hard to entertain, I cannot think of a single bad thing to say about them. There is nightly entertainment, sometimes provided by the rep`s but mostly by groups or artists who are obviously doing the resorts circuit, some are better than others but all will entertain in some way. On the morning of your welcome meeting you will be informed of the usual tourist attractions and offered the opportunity to attend these. Our family attended 2 events, the first which is described as “The Thursday night thing”, basically it is promoted as a nights entertainment and included is a top comedian from the UK, you are also promised a wonderful meal. From this resort complex we were picked up 1st to travel to the entertainment at Pedro’s ranch, we were also last to get off, we spent nearly as much time on the coach as at the ranch. The meal, although the portions were large was very basic, initial entertainment was provided by “Pedro” playing traditional Spanish music on the guitar, after the meal the young kids were taken into another room by the holiday rep`s as the comedian may be unsuitable for them, the rep`s once again performed a fine job of entertaining them. Spanish music and meal over we had a warm up singer/comedian, he was very poor and we were glad to see the back of him. The main event was a comedian, Paul Eastwood, he was a very funny man, we wished he was on longer however he only performed for about 45 minutes (basically you are paying a lot of money for a poor meal and about 45 minutes of entertainment). The other event we attended was Somnia, if you are a horse lover this is not to be missed, the skills of both horse and rider are amazing, well worth the money.

One thing I must mention are the pools on site, they are fantastic, although not supervised, kids love them however, my 2 young boys and I picked up very painful ear infections, which barred them from the pool for 4 days after an expensive visit from the on site doctor, 70 euro for each patient seen and you also have to pay for the medication prescribed. During our visit we noticed lots of children and adults with very painful ear infections, the doctor informed me if we were leaving around the time the kids had the infection she would not have allowed them to fly.

If you get up early enough (to put your towels out on the seats around the pool) you will notice a large army of cleaning staff who daily clean around the entire complex, this is a very well maintained complex.

The main part of the resort itself is only a 10 minute walk away, there is the usual selection of bars and restaurants (more geared for families), we tried a different restaurant every night, until we found “L`Ancora”, if you are travelling up the main street, go under the blue arch to the junction on the left, it is on the corner on the left, across the road. This is the best restaurant in the place, excellent food at very reasonable prices, they give out a biz card with the bill at the end, it also gets you a free bottle of wine if you return, the wine was excellent, not nasty cheap stuff, we ended up eating there 4 times (for the food, not just the wine), highly recommended.

In conclusion, I am not trying to put people off attending this resort, I would have no hesitation in going back however, I would suggest you take some ear drops with you to avoid costly medical bills. Marks out of 10 for the complex and staff, including rep`s would be an easy 8.

Just got back from 2 weeks with our twin girls 4yr, we had an amazing time.

our appartment in B block on the fisrt floor was an ideal location as we had sea view and away from the main stage, basic but adequate as we only slept in their. very clean the maids came every other day to either clean or change sheets.

The entertainment team were the best we've ever seen, they work really hard and still seem to enjoy it. The girls went to kids club everyday for 2 hour slots, the reps are great fun and played games with them, taught them spanish and gave them lots of sweets. there is a mini disco every night at 8, then the main activity at 10, we thought it was a tad late for our girls but soon got use to them going to bed late and getting up late.

We ate out every night a ten minute flat walk to cala n forcat, lots of choice menus very english but did manage a spanish omelette! most of them have childrens play areas and they get a present or free lolly !

overall would reccommend the sea club to anyone who wants a child freindly relaxing holiday

Very, very impressed. Have recently come back form 2 weeks with 3 adults a 17 year old and a 10 year old and we all had a brilliant time.

Apartment was clean and well stocked and was more than adequate for the 5 of us. Bedroom was huge! Plenty of storage and the air-con, which was in the main room and the bedroom, was a godsend.

We were located in block A opposite the pool and had beautiful views of the sea and some stunning sunsets.

The loud evening entertainment was not an issue at all as once our doors were shut we couldn't hear anything, though we wouldn't have wanted an apartment next to the stage area! We didn't stay on site most nights but the shows we did see were very good for such a small complex.

The 3 pools served the holiday makers very well, and were set in immaculate gardens. The entire complex is very well maintained.

The on site restaurant is quite limited, but the town has plenty of restaurants to try. The town is lively and bustling with plenty of shops and restaurants, which caters mostly families and couples. Such a lovely atmosphere with absolutely no rowdiness whatsoever.

The reps were amazing, hardest working bunch i've ever seen. Always doing something. Though if you prefered not to get too involved you were left alone. All on-site staff very friendly, helpful and welcoming.

As a family we travelled to Ciudadela, by a very frequent, cheap and air-conditioned bus service many times for days and nights. Fantastic shoppping and atmosphere and the marina has some excellent restaurants.

On the downside, and it is only a small minus, the beaches were not great. Cala'n Forcat beach is tiny, really no more than a small cove, and the biggest beach in Calan Blanes was a 30 - 40 minute walk away, was small and wasn't great for swimming.

There is a land train which travels around the 2 resorts but it wasn't ideal for frequent trips to the beach as quite expensive. Would reccommend this place to families with kids of all ages. The best thing about this place is if you want to get "involved" you can, if you just want to soak up the sun and chill you can do that too. Brilliant!

Just back from Menorca Sea Club from an 11 night stay with my husband and 2 girls, aged 9 & 11.

We hadn't been to Menorca before so wasn't sure what to expect and was pleasantly surprised on the location, overlooking the sea (beatutiful). We had booked a sea view, first floor room and were located in Block A which was right next to the stage area. Fortunately for us the evening entertainment had just started when we arrived so soon found it to be a very noisy location for a relaxing family holiday. We went straight back to reception and were allocated a ground floor room in Block B, which is much quieter and very friendly. This, we thought was very good service by the Hotel.

All the staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble even when we needed the service of the maintenance guy to help with the fused electric (faulty kettle was changed quick smart).

The girls enjoyed the Wavelength club which was available FOC except for their special evenings i.e. Chocolate Party night and Pizza and Movie night where a small charge was made to cover food and drink.

There was entertainment around the 3 pools during the daytime i.e. water polo, adult pool and darts and quizzies if you wanted to join in but it wasn't pushed on you if you didn't. The pool area was relaxed and their were enough sun beds for all guests.

The whole complex was clean and the maid service was very good, coming in to change all the linen 3 times a week which was adequate for the family.

The apartment was air conditioned which was a god-send as it was 35 - 40 oc everyday. There was enough room and storage for us and the girls enjoyed having some English TV (BBC1,2,3 & MTV) when they needed to chill away from the sun.

We found the car hire prices very reasonable and it was great to see some of the island and it was also useful for getting shopping from the supermarket on the outskirts of town as the shops nearest the hotel were quite expensive.

Although the location is on the outskirts of Cala N Forcat its only a short walk to all the bars, restaurants and shops so if you want a nice, relaxing, friendly complex you won't go wrong with going to Menorca Sea Club

just back ! it was fantastic, we (me,husband + 2 kids 6 and 12 years). stayed a week and it was not long enough, my husband was dissapointed when i told him we were going to menorca and not majorca, as he thought it was going to be a quite resort, but i am delighted to say he loved it ! we had lots to do at the resort , the briliant reps would entertain and keep you busy ,( if you wanted to be) with lots of activites during the day and live shows at night. they would also take time to have a chat with you . we forgot about the sightseeing stuff and mostly stayed at the resort, we did go down town for dinner most nights , it wasn't expensive, the people are very friendly and welcoming.but we would always be back for the evening entertainment at the resort. all in all a brilliant place to go for family's . we stayed in block B ,which is away from the main stage , were it was possible to have a quite night on the balcony. block A is nearer the stage. the shop on resort is a little expensive but the one just outside the resort is cheaper. the restraunt we liked most was the haiti brilliant service and for a meal for the four of us was just £46 euros drinks included. so we were so happy i have already booked us up for 2 weeks in july 09! and we cant wait! x

This was our first holiday with our 2 1/2 year old son abroad. We have to say that we were very pleased with pretty much everything at the Sea Club.

The resort itself was very clean and new looking and the check in upon arrival at the apartments was quick and easy. The staff there were very helpful and nothing too much trouble.

The room (35 A Block) was compact but due to the amount of time spent in there it was perfectly adequate. The kitchenette was well equipped and the bathroom, although smelt at times was clean. Towels were replaced almost everyday.

The pools were good as there were three of them and our son really enjoyed himself as well as in the splash park.

Our room was in a brilliant location, tucked away in the corner and sheltered by a large hedge with the pool very close by. The views are fantastic as is the location as we didn't want our apartment to be too close to a town and near to the bars and restaurants. It is a short walk into town (depends if you like walking) about 10 minutes but it's a pleasant walk with shops and restaurants along the way.

We found the locals to be brilliant and very child friendly and orientated. One place we went to which had three/four restaurants, stage, bars and entertainment and also a room called Kids Zone which had toys for the children was ideal. It's quite close to the blue archway leading you to Cala 'N' Blanes. Think it was something like Playas Domingo's or similar. Great for the little one's.

The entertainment staff at the apartments worked soooo hard to keep everyone happy and did a fab job. The bar snacks were a little pricey although not bad and the shop on site is expensive. The shop a few hundreds yards away is better value and more choice. We had breakfast there on the first morning and didn't do it again, mainly because of the price and that it was quite greasy. They did have a good selection though.

The aqua park in the town was fun with a few slides etc and an area for toddlers so worth a visit. There is a train that takes you through the town and is good if you fancy a break from the walk.

We booked our son in for three sessions of child care at the Twinklestars and was a much needed break for us and him. The creche was well equipped, colourful and air conditioned and Blair and Rachael looked after him really well.

Overall we loved the holiday for our first holiday with children as we really didn't know what to expect.

I would go back again...definately...but if we didn't it's only to check out other countries etc.

I would reccommend this holiday to families who like fun, a little noise and other children!!

Came back from sea club apartments last friday. Wouldn't ever go back again. Room was far too small for our family of 3 children and ourselves. Bathroom was dirty and it smelt. Couldn't use 1 of the wardrobes cos also smelt. My 3 children got food poisoning from the restaurant on site which is over priced and food is not great!! Very little for children our ages to do. They are 2,4 and 5. There was a fee for the kids club and that was about all that was available except the pool, which was lovely. To top it off we had an option for for a late check out which we couldn't avail of and it meant we were out of our apartment at 11am and didn't reach home til 1am. Over all very disappointed.

My husband and I, with our 2 and a half year old son have just returned from a week at the Sea Club Apartments.

I found this website and reviews particularly useful before selecting our holiday so I'd like to help others by providing some useful info about the apartments, facilities and Cala N Forcat.

The apartment was ideal for the 3 of us in terms of space and equipment. I requested prior to us travelling that a cot be provided for my toddler as he isn't ready for a big bed yet though part of me was thinking a travel cot would be too small so he would end up on one of the sofa beds. Well, we were pleasantly surprised as the cot they provided was larger than average (almost cot-bed sized) so he had plenty of room. I recommend though you take some blankets as all that was provided in terms of bedding was a fitted sheet for the mattress and another sheet for a cover. There are spare blankets provided in the apartment but these are only suitable for normal beds as they are so large and quite itchy.

The pluses regarding the apartment were the kettle, toaster, TV (which has all BBC digital channels), lots of storage space and the fact the maid attended daily to empty bins etc. We had our towels and sheets changed at least 3 times in the week which was more than we expected. The view was fantastic too.

We took with us a rubber bath mat in case one wasn't provided (bathtime can be a slippery affair for little ones without one!) and I'm glad we did as there wasn't one. To be fair, it might be possible to request one from reception but we didn't as we took our own.

Not so great were the balconies. Whether you are on the ground floor or first floor, the balcony/terrace is not enclosed so if you have little tots you will need to keep an eye on them. We kept worrying our toddler would tumble down the concrete steps, as we were on the first floor.

Regarding the entertainment, they really make an effort to provide fun-filled evenings for everyone. I'll be honest though and say it wasn't really for us, mainly because our toddler was in bed by 8pm each night and the entertainment often didn't start till 10pm. It did get very noisy and there is one particular block of accommodation that looks directly onto the stage. If we had been allocated one of those apartments, our holiday would have been ruined as the loud entertainment until midnight would have prevented any of us getting sleep until very late.

We didn't eat in the restaurant so can't comment on that but we did find that all the staff were helpful.

Another really useful thing to know about is laundry! The Sea Club offers a laundry service where they will wash and dry one load for 12 euros. If you just want your load washed then it is 6 euros. However, if you walk 5 mins up the road towards the centre of Cala N Forcat, next to the Roc Oasis Apartments is a self-service launderette. The launderette is actually part of the Roc Oasis Aparmtents but is available for use by anyone. You just go to their main reception and you pay 8 euros per load, and they give you detergent, a token for the washer, a token for the dryer and a key to the laundry room. Now unfortunately, there are only 2 washers and 2 dryers so it can get extremely busy and you may feel reluctant to leave whilst your clothes are washing/drying as someone else may come along and take them out of the machines. Therefore, when I did ours I hung around and waited. Not the best way to spend your holiday but it had to be done!

Finally, definitely hire a car and see what else Menorca has to offer as Cala N Forcat is rather tacky! We loved Cala Galdana and Son Bou - beautiful beaches and so easy to get to.

We have been to Menorca 3 times, the first time we went was the first time abroad and we totally fell in love with the place (we're waiting for a lottery win to buy a Villa there). We stayed in the Sea Club Apartments the first year they opened and we had a ball. It was a family entertainment resort then, the reps just entertained all day and night plus the caberet which was brought in. The views are magical particularly when the sun sets over the sea. We absolutely adore the coves as we enjoy snorkelling plus with young children you can allow a bit of freedom as they're totally safe. There's the main cove in Cala n Forcat plus Cala n Blanes. If you go round the corner from the Almirante Hotel and slip down between some Villas there's a brilliant area which has plateaus with steps down the cliff to dive in the sea, there's a lovely traditional restaurant on the edges for snacks and drinks. On the way to Cala n Blanes coves there's another plateau with steps into the sea which is fantastic for snorkelling. If you want to go further afield hire a car there are some lovely places to explore particularly Nova Coves which have burial chambers cut out of the cliffs and caves.

We're going back in June 08, and taking my parents (who don't do Spain!) our adult children and partners, my brother and his adult children my sister and her family. I'd like to bet that my parents will do Spain after this holiday. It's a lovely very family orientated place to have a relaxed and refreshing holiday. I would say to anyone please give the place a try because I think you'll love it. You only get out what you put in and if you come back and didn't enjoy then you didn't give it your all! We've been to quite a few places abroad and this one is the only one I get upset about when we have to leave.

I have literally just arrived back in England from my holiday in Cala 'N Forcat. I had an absolutely fantastic time.

At first when my friend and I arrived at the apartments, I thought it seemed quite far out from the main run of the resort; however, its location by the sea was very nice. We were welcomed at check in by a very English receptionist who was very helpful and pleasant.

The apartment was lovely. It had a nice spacious living area (more than sufficient for 2) with a T.V and storage unit. The kitchen which was located next to the living area was very clean and modern. It consisted of a toaster, microwave, full cutlery tray, plenty of plates and glasses, sink, tea towels, under sink bin and table and chairs.

The bathroom was equally as clean, equipped with clean towels, soaps, toilet, bidet, bath with shower facility.

The bedroom was also quite spacious, with a dresser and bedside cabinets.

The apartment gets a 10/10 from me.

The actual surroundings were also very good. The ground holds 3 good sized swimming pools, a seating area accompanying the bar and there are plenty of pool tables for children.

There is also a supermarket on site, I shopped there only once and that was enough. It was rather expensive. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and always at hand to serve.

The entertainment both during the day and on a night was good. There was definitely something there for everyone. All the first choice reps were very pleasant and lively and there entertainment acts were enjoyable. The sea club also provided professional acts, during our week we stayed in to watch the Brazilian dancers, who were absolutely amazing!

The actual resort of Cala 'N Forcat also has a lot to offer. There are plenty of nice bars and restaurants. As a particularly fussy eater and not one to be adventurous with foreign food, I like the fact there are many places that cater for both people like myself and people who wish to try traditional Spanish foods.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my holiday and both my friend and I have said we would most definitely go back again and would be quite happy to stay at the Menorca Sea Club Apartments.

What a wonderful holiday. Everything on your door step - wonderful restaurants near by - and the beach was within walking distance. Perfect for a couple to just get away. Just got back so wanted to write a review while everything is still fresh in the mind. After all, it was by reading other peoples reviews that helped us pick this place, so thought it only fair to offer up our own opinions.

Accommodation - fine, nice and roomy, air conditioned - all you need for a 2-week stay, nothing over the top, but perfectly adequate for basic family needs.

Resort - again, its well kept and nice, but bear in mind that the sea club isn’t near to a beach. There is a great sea view from the apartments, but the sea is about 100ft below you down a steep cliff drop, so you have no beach unless you get the bus each day - which means the pools get very busy.

Onto the pools - 3 altogether, 1 very shallow for toddlers, the other 2 suitable for adults and larger kids too - but we found them to be quite dirty. There were lots of dead insects floating at the sides of the pool, plus there was a constant oily film on top of the water, which seemed to be all the sun creams that had come off. Not sure how often they were cleaned, but could have been kept far better.

Cala n'forcat is a nice place - a good variety of restaurants and the food at the sea club is fine.

Which brings me on to the entertainment. The reps are hard-working, friendly and good with the kids etc, but they are so overused and overworked. You can play football at 11am, buy a bingo ticket at 1pm, do a quiz at 3pm, crazy golf at 5pm, bingo again at 8pm - all with the same couple of reps, and then.

The evening entertainment often features the same reps, singing badly and prancing terribly. For the 2 weeks we were there, there were 5 shows that were bought in by first choice which were made up of professional entertainers, i.e. a Freddie Mercury tribute singer, a magician, an abba celebration etc - and all these were fine - but for the other 9 nights, it was the reps who did the entertainment with third rate shows cabaret shows, singing to backing tracks and dancing about.

The reps are very good at what they do, but singers, dancers etc they are not - no way -we thought this reeked of first choice doing things on the cheap and rather than paying for travelling cabaret acts for the 14 nights, they made most of the evening shows consist of reps, who were woefully under-talented and you grew very tired of them very quickly, not as people, but as entertainment.

The other gripe we have - is that every single night they had to play bingo - and we were told to be quiet and not speak out of fairness for those who had paid to play. Okay, that’s fair enough - but it all became far too serious and often the full house jackpot was something like 25 euros, which wouldn’t quite buy an evening meal for the 2 of you, so why the big deal?

All in all - Menorca 10/10, the sea club, 8/10, first choice reps off stage 9/10 = but first choice reps as cabaret 2/10.

We wouldn’t go back there again unless the holiday company offer the adults and kids something better in the evening. Our self catering 2 weeks cost us £3000 - and for this kind of money we expect better than multi-tasking overworked reps that are being exploited by being forced to get on stage and perform extremely poor cabaret acts which make the x-factor auditions look like Broadway.

Lastly - in case this sounds like its too much of a moan - we found the waiters, staff and barmen in Menorca to be absolutely charming - and they could teach us Brits a thing or two about customer service.

Overall not a bad 2 weeks indeed - but first choice need to consider that once the kids have swam, played and tired themselves out all day, come the evening there needs to be something in it for the adults - and to loosen the purse strings a little and think about an entertainment budget.
