I went to this hotel in August 2010, after reading the review's we was all quite worried about staying in this hotel but once we had arrived we was soon settled in, i wouldn't advise this hotel for family's with young children but if you are going to Ibiza to party then this hotel is for you, so laid back and not one thing went wrong. Don't know where the bad review's have come from and I will be staying in this hotel again.

well iv just been to ibiza mar apartments for a week for mine and my best mates 21 and it was amazing. we had no problems at all so really dont understand what everyone else is moaning about....you shouldnt really expect 5star in ibiza. it was everything i wanted/expected it to be so was excellent. there was a big group of us...the only thing was having to go ask for toilet rolls and towels because the maids didnt come in every day which were all glad about because of clothes everywhere. nothing got nicked and we had a safe to keep main things in. it was really good, obviously you need to be careful and warey but thats the same anywhere. id definatley go again...INFACT I WANNA GO BACK NOW :-( BEST WEEK EVER!!

Terrible Experience - NEVER AGAIN !!!

Aug 2011, Tom

I took a week off of work the come here, We booked online a got a package ,when we was dropped off by the coach the man didn't know were the hotel was he said "this is the stop" so we had to ask around and found it between and behind 2 shops. 3 Men helped us take our luggage up the stairs me and my friend are young and thought nothing of it until we got a knock on the door the next day the man on the desk had given our door number with out our permission, I was not impressed and felt unsafe :( The rooms were very basic and not worth the money, we brought some food for the week from the local shop ,The cooker was broken and it took 3 day for the repair man to cam and that was only because the receptionist had left 3 notes and he still didn't come so the next day we had to go and get him to fix it :( The latch on the door was not safe and anyone could of get it , NO ONE came to clean the hotel room all week , the cleaners came every day and put down bleach on the corridor floors , in the end we asked the cleaner for a sweeping brush because we had a lot of sand in out room .. If you didn't got to bed early you didn't sleep at all as the noise was horrendous banding and screaming all day long and even hearing people having sex - I WAS JUST AWFUL
Down the corridors was rubbish left out side the doors
Couldn't get around the swimming pool

  • Holiday Date:Jul 2011

easy way if worried about robberies
7 / 10
Aug 2011, so excited to go again.!!!

we never actually suffered from these robberies and thefts and it seems to be about 1 person in 50 that i have read on several reviews......best thing to do is, either take your own small safety deposit box so they dont have the key in reception....OR place it into your suitcase and put a good combination lock onto it, and they wont even bother trying to get into it as you will see forced entry or damage....and thats not what they do......other than this the hotel is great and is in a great location, just a 15 min walk from westend with all the main clubs and bars. BEST FOR CLUBBERS, YOUNGER, NOT FAMILIES WITH SMALL CHILDREN AS TEENAGERS ARE IN AND OUT ALL NIGHT AND EARLY MORNING BEEN VERY LOUD AND BOOZY.

Avoid this place.

Not bad... but not good either.
Stayed here for a week in late July 2011 - a late availability holiday – but still not cheap. Was a little worried by the poor reviews, but later reviews seemed more promising.
The positive first.
The hotel is in a great position – easy walking distance to beach and a variety of shops, restaurants and bars all within 3 – 5 minutes. Lovely walk to Main part of San Antonio takes 15 – 20 mins but is a pleasant walk. There is a spar convenience store by the entrance of the hotel which appears to never close and offers everything you could need for your stay. Fresh bread is baked daily and a medium sized baguette costs 70cents. Room was basic and functional and nice and clean when we arrived. Plenty of space for clothes, two single beds, four piece bathroom, kitchenette, dining and seating area and balcony overlooking the pool. Great aircon which kept us cool and was not noisy.
Now for the negatives of which there are unfortunately quite a few.
We visited the pool area on the first day to find that the children's pool had been taken over by six or seven young men, just standing in it drinking and smoking, preventing the young children from using it. When a dad asked them to move they swore at him. He complained to the bar staff who ignored him. The reason? - These men were not all inclusive so were spending a lot of money in the bar. The family were forced to go elsewhere and so did we, we spent the rest of our time on the beach. The music around the pool was completely unsuitable for family ears with dubious and expletive filled lyrics – again forcing families to go to the beach.
You cannot take your own food and drink to the pool, which surprised us as this archaic practice seems to have died out everywhere else. It is a self catering facility!! We were warned that the staff would take food and water away if it was seen. The bar prices were horrendously expensive but this is for information purposes only as we purchased our own drinks from spar and took them to the beach.
The room was only cleaned once with one change of towels, and there was only one balcony chair (we used a dining chair to compensate). The doors to each apartment are very heavy and have a spring closure on them which forces them to slam very loudly. This meant that every time someone entered their room the loud slamming sound resonated around the whole building. It was enough to wake us up several times a night – and even more often between 6 – 8 am when the 'clubbers' returned.
On the day before we were due to leave we had 50euro stolen from our room. The odd thing is that we left for the beach a little later than normal and the maid knocked the door and came in while I was packing, saying she wanted to clean. We asked her to come back and we then left for the day. After hearing horror stories about theft from other guests I had hidden 2 fifty euro notes (silly yes but people had had their safes emptied). On our return only one 50 euro note and the room had not been cleaned. The manager did not want to know and accused us of lying even suggesting that I had made up the story of the maid.
Rep was useless, was supposed to visit every day but did not show up once (unless you count two hours before we left for the airport) again probably due to the fact that ourselves and the other few people we arrived with were not going to spend money on club tickets therefore not getting him any commission.
San Antonio is a great resort, but this hotel/apartment complex is only good if you don't mind a loud, boozy holiday. I hope that with enough complaints the big travel agents will refuse to endorse it as a family hotel.

Dont be put off
5 / 10

Dont be put off by bad reviews.
This isnt a 5 star hotel, Its a basic hotel which mainly caters to young groups of people who want to be close to san antonios night life.
Myself and 3 other friends (all girls) visited the IBIZAMAR apartments from 14th may for 5 nights to celebrate two of our birthdays. We booked via teletext holidays which beware although adertised prices are very cheap this does not include all their fees. We also purchased a airport transfer for 20 quid each which took us safely to bus stop at the bottom of the road. You do have to sign an agreement when you arrive at the hotel which is basically a consent form for them to photocopy your passport. The man who greeted us at reception did appear stressed out but he was not rude to us at all throughout our stay.
The room itself was very basic, as there was 4 of us we requested a 4 person studio room and found we had two twin beds and two sofas. We did have ot go down and ask for bed linin but this was delivered to our door very promptly.
The self catering aspect is very basic, the hob and utensils are old and take ages to boil, there is also odd amounts of cutlery, plates and cups etc so sometimes one person has to wait for the other to finnish their cup of tea! Im sure this could have been sorted at reception if you were worried. The aprtment wasnt dirty, the bathroom was lovely and clean. The balcony did attract ants however, none of these actually came into the apartment but we were sittingoutside with drinks etc.
we ended up staying next door to a group of lads who would play house music 24/7 so not ideal for kids if yoru planning on getting some sleep.
There is a SPAR literally on yoru doorstep with very cheap alcohol and a number of cheap rrestraunts along the road.
Its takes 20 minutes roughly to walk around the bay into the west end where the nightlife is.
Walk right round the bay to the sunset strip where mid season around 4000 people go every night to watch the famous sunset in one of thebars. Get there early at like 5-6ish as it gets busy.
The main bus stop is also only a 20 minute walk away where you can get a bus into old town and to es cana for the hippy market - definately do this. Bus tickets are really cheap.
When yoru out club reps will make deals with you for drinks so if you lucky to be a group of women there and theres a bar full of stags, they will do you a good deal to go in.
You dont have to pay for the clubs in the westend.
Overall not a bad hotel for the price. It is cheap and basic but if your here for the party and a good time with friends it shouldnt bother you too much. If your planning on a long stay like more than a week i would go somewhere else purely for the self catering aspect.

Nice hotel in good setting

I stayed in this hotel end July 2010 and the only problem was it was a bit noisy - but in Ibiza we expected that. We read the previous reviews after booking the holiday at short notice and all we saw were bad reviews...... needless to say we thought the hotel would be awful. The reviews really put a dampener on our holiday excitment. As it was, we had a really pleasant surprise when we arrived. The hotel was clean, rooms were spacious and the general areas were well kept. Only problem was the cleaners started banging around the rooms at about 8am most mornings. The pool was nice and there was a mini golf site on the grounds. The beach was 2 min walk away. The staff were really helpful and gave us loads of help like directions to bus station etc. They also booked us our taxi to the airport on the way home and called them as soon as the time hit to be picked up as they were 5 minutes late and asked them to hurry up. No problems at all with this hotel so if you dont mind a bit of noise then ther's nothing to worry about. All the major bars such as Ibiza Rocks and Eden/Es-paradise 15 min walk away along the sea front.

Rubbish!! Literally!

Aug 2010, Curly

We stayed at this hotel Aug 10. Hotel was dirty, rubbish left at the end of the corridors which the cleaners did not remove, the rubbish stunk! This happened every day. Our room was never cleaned, never saw a a cleaner. Asked 3 times for a change of towel, was never changed once!
Bald headed man that others have reported on was terrible. Had an outright argument with him at reception as he would not change the towels as he was "a receptionist" and not a "cleaner". Its a towel! Wasn't asking for the world, just to change the dirty towel. Also had ants nests everywhere. Would not reccomend going to this hotel, would definately not stay here again!

Had a great time !!

We went in July for a week and had a really good time and we're goin back in September!!
The hotel was lovely and the room was fine for us, it was plenty big enough for us 4 girls, the bathroom was lovely and the shower was fab. The 2 sofa beds were just as comfy as the normal beds. We had ants on the balcony one day but that was coz we had left drinks on the table overnight but they soon dissapeared once we had cleaned up our mess ha. We requested a pool view when we booked and we got it. The pool was nice and clean and there were always plenty of sunbeds around the pool.
The staff at the hotel were really friendly and spoke good English. When we went to tiesto in privelage I had my camera n purse stolen out of my bag and my friend had her camera taken out of her bag, we came back to the hotel told the 'bald headed receptionist with the glasses' and he was genuinely concerned, he told me what to do and was very helpful. Our safe key was in my purse which had got stolen so the receptionist told me to come back at 8 when the manager would be there and he would sort it out for me.. i was surprised when i spoke to the manager because i thought he was gona shout but he didnt, he gave me a spare safe key and told me i should of had to pay 50 euros because they have to get the maintenance man to fix it n get a new lock etc but he let me off because the key had been stolen n i hadnt just lost it.
My only complaint about the hotel was that the room didnt get cleaned once in the whole week, we told the woman on reception n she told us to bring our towels down n we got them changed.
Overall had a fab time, the hotels in an ideal place, lots of nice restaurants nearby, 24hr spar downstairs, right on the beach. The westend is about 15 min walk, its part of the fun walking down but u can always jump a taxi which was about 3 euros.
Were coming back to ibiza for the closing parties and staying at the ibizamar again, cannot wait!! :)

Really enjoyable stay

Before I went I decided I really wanted to write a review about this place to either confirm the many bad ones, or to write in the contrary. Fortunately I can say that the apartments were excellent, and they must have had a serious overhaul as the other reviews are the complete opposite to our very good experience.
We were a group of 11 people, 6 male 5 female, aged 17-20. We arrived at about 9 or 10 in the morning on our first day and were greeted by the bald headed man mentioned below, however we certainly did not find him arrogant, he was very polite and spoke good english, explaining to us exactly what the disclaimers we were signing were all about. We got a safe key from them as well with no hassle.
The rooms were very basic, but that was all we needed. The sofa beds were MUCH better than expected, they turned out pretty much the same as the normal beds. The bathroom was immaculate and had a fantastic shower. The whole room was very clean. Our only issue was that our microwave didn't work, but this wasn't a problem as we mostly ate out at restaurants.
The hotel was not noisy, as on the rare occasions that people stayed in on particular nights there was little or no people walking around. Although I would recommend more for groups of young people, families and couples probably would have been ok too.
On the 3rd day I went to use our safe and the key snapped. After reading the reviews about the place I started to panic and was foreseeing robberies etc. However, this was not the case. I took it down to reception at about 1.30pm. The very helpful woman told me that they would have a technician here by 4.30 to open the safe for me to get my stuff. I went away, came back at 4.30 and he was there. He opened the safe for me and told me that they would have a new key cut ready for me the next morning. As he said, the next morning I went to reception and sure enough they had a new key. Even after all of this I still got my deposit back for the safe, which I was not expecting!
The pool was clean and there were always sunbeds available. We noticed the sign about not taking your own food or drink down to the pool and usually didn't, however the couple of times we took a drink down it went unnoticed.
The cleaners came every other day, which was plenty for us. What particularly impressed me was that they did not say anything despite the horrendous mess it was in (sick on the bathroom floor, mushy peas everywhere...don't ask haha), they simply just cleaned it and moved on.
Negatives...only a couple really. Obviously the microwave didn't work, neither did the TV however we only tried to use it once to watch the world cup 3rd place playoff, so just watched it elsewhere instead. The other negative which in hindsight is a BIG problem was that there was no lifeguard by the pool. There were groups of drunk people doing flips into the pool in the shallow end which we found was very dangerous with no lifeguards around, and put one of our friends on edge as he is a lifeguard himself and thus could not relax for fear he would have to help someone out.
Other than this, I would recommend this certainly to groups of 18-30's, as well as families and couples (although I'd imagine that would depend on time of year...). The location is excellent, bars are a short walk away, Es Paradis is like 5 mins walk away. Go to Liberty's for breakfast, it's amazing food at cheap prices with very helpful staff (the butch looking woman was very friendly and gave my friend medical advice.) Also try Don Pedro's for food. DON'T use the place directly at the bottom of the hotel steps opposite Spar, they are expensive and messed up our orders more often than not, don't be fooled just because it's closest. Use the supermarket about 5 doors down from Spar, as it's prices are half the price of Spar and has more variety.
Overall a fantastic holiday, and will be going back again next year!

We stayed at this hotel in 2009 and also this year. The only problems we had were that we didn't get fresh towels and the maid didn't clean the room every day. We had no problems with anything getting stolen. Although, we read the reviews before we went and were quite worried so we found places to hide our money like in the fridge or in the cushions on the sofa beds. This was a good hotel and I would stay here again if I returned to Ibiza. Don't let the bad reviews put you off. Make sure your balcony door is locked before you go out and make sure you slam the front door shut too. Great holiday!!
