After a lot of online investigation, we chose the Savoy and we were very pleased. They looked after us brilliantly, nothing was too much trouble. Alessandro and his staff were excellent, e-mail communication prior to booking was easy, Alesandro arranged a transfer from Turin at a very reasonable cost. My children still talk about Florina our adopted waitress, who looked after us brilliantly, and even helped us arrange a birthday cake for our daughters birthday.
The included use of a ski store at Da Franco's was excellent, Micheal the owner was a very friendly guy with very cheap ski hire. Not the latest gear but perfectly OK for begineers and early stage intermediates. The hotel rooms we had were a little cramped for 4 but acceptable considering the price. Food was excellent and plentiful, location excellent.
Overall highly recommended

We really enjoyed our stay at the Savoy Edelweiss. The rooms that we had were not perhaps the biggest and the best that one is likely to find in hotels of a similar standard, but they were clean and generally ok.
This slight criticism was balanced out by the fantastic hotel staff (many of whom spoke good English if required). They were always incredibly polite and helpful and made a point of making our 3 boys (7, 10 and 12) feel very welcome in the restaurant. The staff were attentive and the food we felt was of a very good standard, considering our budget. Alessandro the hotel owner was also a really pleasant guy and having recently taken over the hotel (from his parents I believe) was really keen to please.
The hotel has a very good relaxation/bar area for the evening stories. Just a couple of minutes walk from the main lifts in Sestriere and with a useful facility to store skis/boots by the main lift area. I think that the Savoy is probably better than a number of hotels on offer in this particular Crystal price bracket. As is often the case, Crystal staff are too young and inexperienced to be of too much use.
My brother and his wife were skiing for the first time, whereas my family are experienced skiers and I think without us they would have been totally at sea because I don't think that Crystal did anything like enough to check that they knew what they needed to do from day 1 - just dishing out a welcome pack to read is not really sufficient in my view. Apart from our relatively small rooms, couldn't really criticise anything else in the Savoy.
Milky Way region provides good skiing for all and is considerably cheaper than the French Alps.
