Submitted By: Mr J O''NeillResort was excellent for skiing.
Ski in ski out complaints, if you can't walk 20 yards should you be skiing.
Food in hotel was below average for Italy but then you should be out on the mountain where there are plenty of good places to eat and chill out.
As for night time entertainment the reviews that said it was poor could not have skied hard enough during the day ( tired ) or missed the opportunity to enjoy the company of the friendly locals, which begin Italy is something of a novelty.
In summary if you enjoy skiing for a good price you wouldn't be disappointed in Pila.

Submitted By: Mr A BurnleyThe location was great, 50 Yds to the slopes and to the Ski hire shop. The Ski/Boot room was also housed in the same building as our room and had ample of space. Once skis were fitted it was a ski down to the Gorraz Chair lift and at the end of the day we could ski back to 50yds of the hotel.
The hotel itself advertised a DVD room and a sauna, both of which no longer exist!!!
The breakfast 0730 – 0930 was just the job and there was plenty of selection. However, the evening meal, 1930 – 2130, was a let down. You selected at breakfast from the menu of 3 starters and 3 mains. The actual meal was 4 courses. The food for us as a family we found disappointing and was the only let down.
There are a couple of bars, pizzerias and shops near by and a cash machine that takes Visa.
All in all a good spot to ski to and from and good family accommodation.

Submitted By: Mr A S DownhamHotel in 2 parts: we stayed in the (nice looking from the outside) old barn, connected to main part by corridor (flight of stairs at each end, lift at 1 end only). Our rooms were part basement, with small windows high up. The rooms were quite small but warm with good beds. However walls were very thin so could hear everything in adjoining room. Had problems with light (eventually fixed) and noisy cistern (not fixed).
Staff were very helpful but only limited English spoken.
Lots of excellent (very Italian) food – 4 courses plus salad, also 250ml free wine per adult. New Year’s Eve there was a special menu but started late and dragged on (no fun for kids).

Submitted By: Mrs V SheddenThe rooms are warm and clean and the food was fantastic, one of our party has a food allergy and the staff were extremely helpful.
The skiing was perfect, quiet runs apart from Saturday, no queues if you get started early enough.
Day trip to La Thuile and Le Rosier well worthwhile.
There is a wonderful blue area at the top of the cable car, the mountain cafes are all good, you must try a Bombardino - be careful one is enough if you intend to ski back to the hotel.

Submitted By: Dr D CooperOur room certainly didn't have plaster falling from the walls, nor was there any shortage of wall sockets (we had at least 5).
The food was of excellent quality, massive quantity and was served extremely efficiently, mine was always at the appropriate temperature.
As one should expect given that the vast majority of guests in the resort are Italian it was suited to Italian tastes, with antipasto, pasta, meat and dessert courses and salad buffet.
Veal certainly appeared as a regular choice, but along with beef, ham, pork, lamb and vegetarian options. The salad buffet was amazing in its range and the free wine of surprisingly good quality.
I certainly haven't come across friendlier staff in a hotel over the past 20 years that I've been taking skiing holidays across Europe.
The bedroom was at a constant 22 C, but you can always open the door if it gets too hot.
The sauna and gym are free and overall the hotel seemed excellent value for money.

" Well what can I say, if I don't see... "
Submitted By: Mr A SaundersThe resort is okay as in not that big but there are a range of slopes for differing levels and with the folk complaining about the lack of the slopes being open this was probably the best part of our holiday as there was runs that had not been opened before and therefore were great off piste. It was a little icy when I was there and found that at some areas of the slopes got very over crowded at the end of the day and were a bit of a nightmare to dodge the beginners and advanced fighting for a bit of snow.
The resort itself wasn't over flowing with bars and clubs (well we only really found one that often had more than 4 or 5 folk in it) and the hotel lounge isn't really big enough for that size of place.
So to finish off the reason I am marking the hotel down is that the room I had, had mould on the wall and the heating being non-adjustable(unless you have a trusty multi tool) and the fire exit stairwell blocking any view of daylight, but I was unlucky as friends rooms were nice with none of the above.
Oh yes and the rooms were cleaned every day which is a very good point.
The veals gonnae get ye!

Submitted By: Mr P ThomasThe staff were friendly and efficient. The rooms are very hot, which made it uncomfortable and you could not adjust the heat. The only way of cooling the room down was to open a window, which at night with temperatures below -5 etc was not ideal. Our rooms (we had two) were spacious, clean and in a reasonable condition.
The great advantage of this hotel is the ski locker room which is only a short walk from reception and from their a short walk to a blue run which takes you down to the main lifts and a meeting point for ski school. Pila is a great place to ski for beginners and intermediates, for more advanced skiers it would be limiting.

Submitted By: Ms H RhoadesWe went half board but ended up eating elsewhere due to the very poor food standard.
The skiing in the resort was fantastic due to great snow conditions and lots of sunshine but if we had paid full price for the hotel we would have been very unhappy.
This was the first time skiing in Italy and we certainly wouldn't go back to the hotel!

Submitted By: Not SpecifiedSkiing conditions the best ever, perfect and as to the person talking about ski in ski out was a joke, he must want someone there to retrieve him of his skis and boots also, it was about a 20-30 yard walk then you could ski down to the chair lifts.
And as for the lifts being closed they were all open and there is more than one lift up to the black runs so he obviously didn’t explore very well!!!!!!!
Excellent holiday, conditions, accommodation, service & food.

Submitted By: Mr A StansfieldFood is good but Italian menu, so expect Pasta course and then meat with no veg, but there is a salad buffet. You have to select from menu at breakfast for dinner that day.
If previous reviewer considers it is not Ski In, he must want to be able to hit the door of the ski locker room, it only 10 to 20 yards. But note that the picture shown above is not the actual hotel but another residential block in the Pila 2000 development, the actual hotel is just behind.

Submitted By: Not SpecifiedThe staff were friendly and helpful and any lack of atmosphere in the hotel lounge can be compensated for by visiting the fantastic pizza bar located 2 minutes away (up the stairs and towards the ice rink).
The boot room is linked to the hotel by tunnel, and from there it is about ten yards to the piste!! Wonderfully quiet slopes during the week, but can be busy at weekends. Enough skiing in a week for all but the most demanding skiers.

It is amazing how they can get different types of food to all taste the same....got the impression it was all tinned or reguritated from the night before. 3 nights out of 5 was enought for us....
Wine was cheapish....breakfast was OK/good....room was better than average...ski boot room was good...this is a clean typical 3 star Italian hotel let down by worst than average (non italian) food. The waitresses were lovely. Our TV didn't work either but this happens when the aerial is not plugged in...lol
Perfect skiing for 3/4 days max...even for beginners
Don't expect night life....and I would guess nothing to do for non-skiers.
Restaurants on the mountian were quaint and cosy.....but totally lacking in proper toilet facilities, most had a max of 2
all in all we had a great time and the food gave us a laugh if nothing else..
