We booked the holiday just two weeks before to get some extra skiing in, chose the resort for its easy skiing and being quiet, on both counts it was just perfect. The hotel was clean and the rooms were comfortable and adequate, never did we feel cold, we often had to turn the heating down.
With regards to the comments from Mrs Finch, I have stayed in many different types of accommodation, from 4* to self catering and you pay for what you get. I was not dissapointed. The food was a four course, 1st a buffet and always plenty to choose from, 2nd normally pasta or soup, but chose from three. 3rd was a meat/fish and vegetable or a cold meat dish, but again three to choose from, and 4th a dessert was more than adequate, never did we walk out hungry. If you want 5* food eat out !!! Please note if you book this resort there is no Macdonalds available, you eat traditional italian food !!!!
The staff were pleasent and helpful. Maurice was a hard worker, but thats the way they work there and have done on other resorts I have stayed in.
Am off skiing on Saturday to Meribel and then to Austria and each time the star rating goes up so will expect more from them !
Can recommend the hotel and the resort.

Stayed at the Chalet des Alpes in January 2008 and can only say how disappointed we were. The rooms were shabby, as was the rest of the hotel, and the two listed cosy bar/lounge areas were cold and uncomfortable. My daughter (aged 8) eat nothing for a whole week as the food was so awful and did not cater at all for children. I myself eat like a bird, and found it very difficult to ever feel warm in the hotel. The restaurant was particularly cold and uninviting, and I would honestly say that we would never ever consider returning there again. The boot room was also tiny and freezing. The hotel management were unfriendly, apart from Maurice, who seemed to do every job going, hence the Faulty Towers feel. I must add though, that Pila is a wonderful skiing resort - stay at the Lion Nioir!!!!

A nice small personal hotel that was clean and warm with very good staff.
Access to the slopes is from a small locker room up a flight of stairs and directly onto the nursery slopes. The hotel is on the lower part of the resort so you can ski in and out but if there is a lot of snow it can be slightly awkward to get to. The food was mostly good especially if you like veal in its many forms but now and again we found the menu limited. In fact we ate out one night as we didn't fancy what was on offer that night (you pick your evening meal choices at breakfast).
Just up from the hotel was a small selection of shops and the best bar in our opinion-Gallachers. The snow was brilliant when we were there and the slopes were mainly very good but the blacks were closed because of too much snow!
All in all a very enjoyable week with plenty of slopes to last.

Had a great time at Chalet des Alpes. The hotel is located towards the lower end of the town but you can ski to and from it. The hotel itself was warm and clean and the food was good. The staff were all friendly and the views from the rooms and lounge are great.
Only negative was the bus service which was infrequent and didn't seem to have a timetable. We only used it as we had a pushchair.
I would go back.

Very pleasant family hotel, good sized rooms with excellent storage space and en-suite facilities. The weeks menu's were good with a reasonable variety of fare - each meal four courses. Ski room access from slope very good, staff welcoming and we were really impressed with the amount of work undertaken by our waiter come advisor Maurice. If required a good packed lunch provided, which we made use of once or twice. Only drawback was a large family of Italians who didn't want to take responsibility for their kids, & who had a tendancy to cause chaos in the dining room during the evenings. Other than this, excellent, would stay again & recommend hotel.
