Went with a friend and our daughters (16 & 18). Not much for them to do on an evening but the hotel was clean. We were in a room away from the hotel. It was spacious and very clean as was the complex. The restaurant was fine although manic at times and the clearing of the tables a little slow. Lots of choice we thought and varies each day. Only downside was the queue at the bars. Staff at the bar rude and only one speed which was stop!! We don't really drink and feel that soft drinks should be able to be help yourself to instead of queuing all the time. Sometimes up to 15-20 minutes. We only paid £1,500 for 2 rooms all inclusive. Beach a bit of a non starter which is a shame really. Would I go again? Probably if I got it cheap enough and if I never have to fly from Gatwick ever again!!!!

My 17 year old son have just returned from a week's holiday at the Mareblue Cosmopolitan Hotel,Ixia. The hotel basically consists of a main Block with large and very posh looking Reception and a number of Annexes/Bungalows surrounding a largish Pool/Pool Bar/Sun Terrace areas.
Our room was in an Annexe with a Sea View and generally very nice but the standard of the daily maid service was poor and quite obvious that the Bathroom area and floor hadn't been cleaned as there was the same dead insect lying on the floor for the whole period of our stay. Twice during our stay and whilst trying to take a Siesta in the afternoon we were disturbed by the Maid just letting herself into the room even though it was obvious someone was at home as the TV was on and keycard in the Electricity Slot etc and didn't bother to knock first ! Between the Hotel and something resembling a building site rather than a Beach, runs a a very fast, noisy and busy 24/7 'Rat Run' Road. The Authorities on the Island have at least realised the danger and built an underpass for those who want to venture onto something resembling more of a building site rather than a Beach.
The pavements around the Hotel and general Ixia resort area are really dangerous with gaping holes/grids and high kerbstones and a potential 'death trap' for the elderly, infirm and young. There was a tiny Mini-Market nearby selling bottles of water/drinks at artificially high inflated prices for the Tourists, but the main shops/restaurants/bars were a good half an hour walk in the blistering sun and along a very dusty and dangerously fast moving road. It pretty well goes all downhill from there. Although the Restaurant surrounds were actually quite pleasant, it resembled feeding time at the Zoo as Guests would race around in search of something tasty to eat. Food quality was very poor, unapetising and tended to be recycled. Each Dinner time they produced soup which frankly resembled something that might have been served up at a concentration camp. One night we had 'Cream of Mushroom' soup - this consisted of a thin stock to which one could add extra Mushrooms from a bowl on the side and a blob of Cream, though that might have been Greek Yoghurt ! The Restaurant staff seemed pleasant enough, and I understand they have a few Polish nationals working there. They either had a shortage of crockery in the Hotel or were keen to impress the Head Waiter, but no sooner had you managed to finish a course without throwing up and had placed your spoon/fork/knife down than your plate was aggressively whisked away from you. One Breakfast time both myself and son had left our table to replenish our glasses with fruit juice leaving half drunk coffee cups and on our return we found the table had been stripped. I said that we hadn't actually finished eating but the Head Waiter sarcastically made some comment about having two breakfasts and that tomorrow we would not be allowed into the Restaurant ! - I managed to control my intial reaction to punch him up the throat and just contemplated that he might actually have made a joke of the situation, still I was far from impressed.
The majority of Guests including ourselves had opted for the 'All Inclusive' basis but this was questionable. During the day there was only the Pool Bar serving drinks and had a maximum of 2 x Staff serving at the busiest times. Due to the ultra slow 'work to rule' service by the Bar Staff one would end up queueing for an average of 10 mins to be served. I am not a heavy drinker but even I thought the measures, even for mineral drinks were miniscule and Beer was either served in a tiny 'kiddy' size plastic beaker for consuming around the Pool or in a wine glass around the bar area. This was even the case when being served at the Main Hotel Bar and one could not miss the welcoming 'Only two drinks served at a time' Notice and no 'Fully Inclusive Service' stopped at 11pm !
Evening entertainment was poor and consisted of the odd Karaoke type stuff etc. Once a week they hold a Greek Night with Barbecue and Live Dancers. According to the Hotel Posters this looks really good fun but then you find out that 'Fully Inclusive' Guestas can enjoy this for the special price of 16 Euros per Persons and 'Half Board' for 20+ Euros per person.....this is just 'CHEAP' and makes a mockery of the 'All Inclusive' arrangements at the Hotel !
The Pool was fairly large but the surrounding Sunbathing areas were really crampt when all the Sun Loungers were in use. No one seemed to take any notice of the 'Sun Loungers cannot be Reserved' Signs clearly displayed and were nearly all taken by the Night before when Guests would place their towels out. Any hopes of spending a relaxing day around the Pool were quickly dashed when every morning at 10am the peace was disturbed by the Hotel's 'Animation' Team. This consisted of blasting out utter rubbish over the tannoy system in a mixture of French,Greek, German and English tongues followed by a delightful selection (NOT) of techno 80's music. One very annoying member of this team who had the name 'Judit' emblazened across her Tee shirt (not sure if it was a misprint), would strut around the Pool area holding up a set of Darts and would scream at the top of her voice 'DA-ARTS !' This would then herald the commencement of a full programme of events in and around the pool area. There was usually a very violent looking game of Water Polo when any young kiddies were moved out of the shallower part of the pool set aside for this muppetry. I felt sorry for any Guests hoping to sit in the shade of the Pool Bar whilst enjoying a cup of coffee as the ball was frequently allowed to be launched into this area sending glasses/cups flying. The Animation Team seemed to think this was a real jolly jape ! The game was regularly punctuated by the blowing of Whistles which after a short time became very annoying. There then followed a couple of Aqua-Aerobic Sessions accompanied by 'Pump Up The Volume' type Music !
One really important consideration whilst on Holiday is that of Security. You like to be sort of assured that the Hotel like to keep an eye of comings and goings etc. This Hotel has three entrances, neither of which are monitored so any Tom,Dick or Stavros could just come wandereing in and entrance to our Annexe block could easily be made by walking up from the Main Road and in through the main doors which are kep wide open 24 hours a day - Not Good !
In short, I would not recommend this Hotel to anyone. I know that Greece has its own Financial problems and was in the grip of a Fuel Strike when we visited, but to treat Guests who have paid megga bucks for a holiday is shabby and poor. The Hotel rating should certainly be lowered to correctly reflext its real Rating !

Well i want to say we went to this hotel last year & have gone back again this year & sorry to say its not as good .Yes its very very clean ,But the Dining room is the Big Problem ,The Food is not as good for a 4* Hotel & as for the Clearing of the tables it was very bad .They had 3 members of staff to clear & help at laying 43 tables & when i complained to the Manager he tried to tell me it was a one off ,But sorry to say it was no better the next day ot any days after .& as for the entertainmant well they had not much on It was just -c--p They did seem to be ok for the kids ,but it was the same every night ,they had a Barbecueevery Friday & it cost 16Euros ,But if you had paid for all inclusive well it was hard luck ,Plus the fact then you had To go up & sit in the inside lounge ,because you could not go near the poolside area .
Well we sure wont be going their again & as for the Beach its a real mess ,it does not look as if it is ever cleaned up . Ive never been so unhappy with a holiday as i have been with this hotel . & i sure wont ever go back .I Did write to the Director & said all ive said in the review .But i sure dont expect any reply from them .They have your money up front & you take it or leave it .They did say it was under new Mamagers .But we sure were very very dissapointed ,but i feel no one cares . Your sincerly the Fin Family .

Just come from this hotel with my boyfriend had a lovely time food was nice yes all the food wasn't for british but if you want british food stay in Britain! The staff were really nice and helpfull and tried to make everyone entertained with water aerobics, water polo, darts, table tennis, bowls and many more there was always something going on ...I havent got children my self but they had this lovely play area for children in like a cabin who got entertained by staff which was very good for familys and at a night time the ppol bar was really nice for familys ..with the dancing etc and good for everyone really but if you wanted to chill out a bit more then you could chiill out up by the hotel bar which is sooo nice and rlaxing ....drinks stop at 11 but if you want to keep on partying you can make your way down to yannies bar just outside the hotel and its really good fun drinks are quite cheap depending on waht you drink and he sometimes gives you some free drinks...I spent everynight in this bar so entertaining !!Emma our rep was very good to but then she got moved to another hotel but she always come back to see us and was very help full..The only really bad thing about this holiday was they had a greek night which you had to pay for but the food was absolutly outsanding it looked to nice to eat!! but when u sat down there was a bar drink list you had to pay for drinks which was a bit bad....so me and my partner just bought a bottle of wine but alot of people did request their money back but it was nice ...I dont know what else to say room service was really good clean towel s beds made always ...I would definetley go back there ....hope this has helped .......

I have just got back from a brilliant week at the cosmopolitan hotel. I had never stayed in a hotel in Greece or done all inclusive before so I was a little bit worried that my holiday would be a bit limited in doing so this time. I was wrong, the hotel was gorgeous - it had a very luxurious feel to it (with a beautiful reception area, well presented and clean bedrooms and bathrooms). The rooms had air conditioning which made sleeping and getting ready in your room really comfortable. The bathrooms were lovely and there was always hot water available (often in self catering apartments I have found hot water is on a first come first served basis between all the guests). Our room was in the main block and so we didnt have a particularly private balcony but we hardly needed one because there were so many lovely areas within the hotel grounds to sit and relax. The pool was great - the only negative was that there were usually no sun beds left when we went down after breakfast but this wasnt too big a deal for us. One of my favourite things about the hotel was the outside areas - there was a pool bar that had plenty of seating out of the sun where we spent hours relaxing and playing cards. There was also another bar area that had a beautiful decking area overlooking the pool that had a mixture of sunny and shaded spots. The whole area felt like a paradise with fountains and palm trees everywhere.
Before the holiday I read some other reviews that mentioned the all inclusive food and they were not all particularly good, my main worry was that there would not be any traditional greek cuisine to try. In my opinion the food was fantastic, there was generally a selection of oriental cuisine (rice, veg and freshly carved meats), a selection of greek foods (the moussaka was gorgeous!) which changed each day, and a selection of italian foods such as pastas and pizza. As well as this there were always a huge variety of fresh breads, loads of fresh salad and cheese and plenty of chips. The pudding selection was also huge and included greek sweets such as baklava as well as fruits, jellies, cakes, and ice creams. We were amazed at the variety available every day and it always tasted great too! Apart from the main meal times the bar had a small buffet available throughout the day so you really could find food whenever you were peckish. The free drinks included fruit juices, fizzy drinks, local wines, local spirits (including ouzo!) and a selection of cocktails too. You really didnt need to spend any money whilst at the hotel. Ice cream was also available all day.
The actual resort of ixia didnt have very much, there were plenty of other big hotels and a few of the usual touristy supermarkets but nothing special. We didnt fancy using the beach, the sea looked a bit rough and the beach was shingle. Rhodes town was only a few mins away in a taxi though so we just went there for a day looking in the shops and sight seeing. We went on a few trips whilst we were there. I would recommend going down to 'Manos going' which is a small company who do boat and bus trips. They offered the same trips as thomas cook but far cheaper. Manos is the bus driver and is very friendly, the bus only holds 20 so the trips all felt very relaxed and personal. Definitely worth a go!

on arrival at the hotel i was very impressed we checked in and was shown to our appartment this was not in the main building but a short distance near the pool area.the room was bright and decorated in a neautral colour and the view from the balcony was very pleasant.we were told that breakfast was 730 to 930 in the main building there is a selection of foods to choose from including bacon eggs beans and sometimes toast oh and nearly forgot the cornflakes.the rest of the menu is for germans dutch and french which includes chips potato wedges deliwraps. at the meeting in the afternoon we were told it would cost us 40 euro to keep our room until near the time of our departure but when i went to reception was told it would be 80 euro as you can imagine i gave the key back at 10.30 am even though we wernt being picked up until 11.45pm that evening we we given a key to an upstairs room in the main building to shower and change. the resort is very very expensive the cost of two cups of coffe at the outside bar is just short of seven euro for two small ones you can buy most of whats in the pool bar area at the hotels shop downstairs for half price the expence gets more when you travel to rhodes town as many expensive yatchs come into port the locals are having a ball selling very cheap jewellerey at top rates please dont fall for this they will also tell you that you wont never see it as cheap any where else. if you travel to this complex as a couple do not sit at a table for four in the hotel restraunt as british arnt allowed unless you reserved your table in advance. 630 to 9pm is your main meal same situation with the seating but a horrendous menu for the brits some food was ok mainly salads and pasta or maybe you might like potatoes in custard. the only meal i enjoyed was liver and onions with mashed potatoes. the days entertainment is a game of darts with two young girls who cant add up the scores. most of the evening entertainment is a suprise just to get you to go into the bar bar area and wait for an eternity and then when the entertainment arrives its that bad you move on to a local bar.the only excitement in the week we were there was rhodes old town a must visit if you dare go to ixia it will cost you six euros in a taxi just outside across the road the place is absolutely beautyfull at night take your camera.you will be offered many trips by your rep on your first day all the trips are half price in rhodes harbour and most offer lunch included. if you are ok with walking turn left out of the hotel and an hours walk down the main road will bring you to a few shops and bars mainly all selling the same as each other as usual.we found a bar there called fat boy slims a decent british bar with good company the owner sems like a good bloke. i read some reviews before traveling to ixia about the beach infact the beach is disgusting with rubbish all over with the smell of fish which is being caught by a team of men in a small boat then selling them in the layby opposite the hotel the smell is horrific. to finish off a very beautyfull hotel serving rubbish food in the middle a fish market in the middle of nowhere and flying the british flag last.
ps
nearly for got to mention ricky the rep his words not mine

We have just come back from the Cosmopolitan Hotel and we have had a wonderful holiday
and would definitely go back again. The rooms were large and the beds were very comfortable. The cleanliness of the Hotel was excellent. The food was good, plenty of choice
and the waiters were very friendly. The entertainment was OK. During the day there was
several things going on, Aerobics, Boules, Aqua-robics, water polo and darts. In the evening
there was always something organised and the Animation team were great. If you didnt want to stay for the entertainment in the Hotel bar, there were several nice bars very close to the hotel.
The main pool was quite deep but really clean and they have a childrens pool area, there are lots of places where you can sit in the shade. Food and drink in the snack bar were good roughly the same price as home.
If you want to go into Rhodes town it is a 45 min walk, or 1 euro 80 cents on the bus which stops outside the Hotel, Taxis charge 6 Euros.
We have had a great time at The Cosmopolitan and can't wait to book again.

I was worried after reading some comments on here about the cosmopolitan but these worries were completing removed on arrival, here is my honest account of our stay:
The hotel was welcoming even at 5am when we arrived. The rooms were basic but clean with fresh bedding and towels every day. Air conditioning worked well at all times of the day. The safe only cost 12 euros for the week, well worth it.
The food was hot and the variety was fantastic. From spaghetti bolognaise to steak, chicken, duck, veil, beef, all varieties of cold plates, ham, cheese, every bread and every desert you can think of! Even my fussy fiance enjoyed it and we have stayed half board on other holidays and he could only eat the chips! The waiters were fun and gave great service too.
If you want a resort where there are predominantly british holiday makers then this hotel would not suit you. There were people from various countries and the staff were great and spoke in every language possible, german, french, dutch, english and greek.
The pool bar staff and entertainment crew were fun and got the crowd going. The pool was lovely to swim in and always clean, although sunloungers were a little outdated
The games room had some arcade games, pool and table tennis tables, bit basic but as you are so close to rhodes town (5 euros in a taxi) we found there were plenty of activities outside of the hotel to do so didnt need a full entertainment programme
Overall a great place to stay. If you think you are going to stay at a 4* hotel in british standards then you are setting yourselves up for a fall. Its a lovely hotel, a little dated in the decor but the staff, food and drinks were to a very, very high standard which is what makes a holiday after all! I would go back again

We booked at the last minute, just a few days beforehand. I had read the reviews and was surprised that the hotel wasn't as bad as some of the things written about it. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. The meals were good, to cater for multicultural guests must be trying, you can't please everyone. The hotel was well kept I could not fault it's cleanliness. We had a superior room in the main hotel which was very nice.
The guys in the Pool bar Gregory and Yiannis and two others were brilliant. I could not fault their efficiency. Vasilos looked after us in the Dining room. He was an Excellent waiter nothing was ever too much trouble. I can't really say much that is negative about The Cosmopolitan only that the pool is absolutely freezing. And the pool Bar toilets are quite smelly and badly situated. Apart from that we had a lovely holiday. I would most certainly recommend this hotel to others. Because if they received the same service we got they can't go wrong.

We stayed at this hotel during the last week of September. Arriving at the hotel, we were put in quite a small room that had a shared balcony! However we went to ask if we could change rooms and the staff were very polite and showed us to another room which was twice the size and had its own balcony! Needless to say, we took this one. The room was nice, very clean and had its own fridge. To make the fridge and lights work though, you have to plug in your key into a socket. Which means that if you aren't in the room the fridge will not be on. But to get around this, you can take the part of the key, which is plugged into the socket, off the key ring. And just plug it in and go off on your way :-)
We were half board so had breakfast and dinner. The food was excellent and there was a variety from all countries. The waiters and waitresses were also very friendly and we would always have a bit of a chat with our waitress!
We went for a relaxing holiday of mostly just hanging around by the pool or at the beach. There wasn't a lot of nightlife so I wouldn't recommend it here if you want a lot going on. We did go to Rhodes town several times and both the old and new part of the town are very nice. There is a harbour and this is very picturesque.
The beach is directly opposite the hotel across the road. The road is very busy but there is a tunnel underneath so it doesn't really matter. It is windy on the beach but 3 of the days we were there, the wind dropped and it was really calm. Additionally the pool, it has a lot of sun loungers, it might have been the time of year but there were always lots of loungers left when we came down. There is also a pool bar where they serve hot and cold drinks. We didn't go in the pool as it seemed cold.
Public transport is good. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel and it cost about 2 euros to get to Rhodes. A taxi there cost 6 euros.
Overall we had an excellent holiday and we were sad to leave!

I don't want to write about food, cleaning, rooms - because everything was OK! This hotel has one advantage over the other: a group of animators from the SEA Club, young, energetic people, provide entertainment at a very high level. Do not forget the positive energy (Andres), smiles (Astrid, Cate, Hania, Karolina and Siobhan), intelligent jokes (Lino), dance lessons (in Spanish - you have to be born in Spain to move like that:), the evening shows, which offer lots of fun, intelligent humour and relaxation at a very high level. Astrid and Toto - you are very creative people. Animations are not pushy like in other hotels; even if you do not take part in them have maximum fun. So, if you are looking for a distraction from everyday life, you want to feel that life doesn't concern only your job, child, duties and you have a simple right to feel welcomed, happy and wanted as a person you should visit this hotel and dance salsa or at least watch how you could do this, if you are too shy like me:) I highly recommend those people despite the fact, I wasn’t a big fan of animations so far
