Only a couple of 'moans'
Nice holiday at the Avra Beach. I've stayed at many All Inclusives but this is the first one that had NO diet drinks at the pool bar (I'm diabetic so I had to buy my soft drink/mixers from the supermarket). Restaurant food was adequate but not very exciting..only 1 or 2 desserts each meal or fruit , ice cream, very limited choice !! Snacks by the pool were the same each day..These couple of 'moans' did not ruin a relaxing holiday. Room clean, public areas clean and staff courteous. Felt the holiday was not good value for money compared to other AI hotels we have stayed in. I'd give it a 3*+ rating only.
Very Pleasant
I went to the Avra Beach with my partner at the end of July 2006. It is the first time we have been on an all inclusive and feel it benefits great value for money. However, I much prefer to go out for dinner and try new restaurants each night while I am on holiday and therefore would hesitate before booking another all inclusive. The food at the Avra Beach was good but began to taste similar, which was not a shock as you would assume this the case if you ate out at the same restaurant everynight. There was a large variety of food all at a good standard. The rooms are spotless and cleaned everyday with fresh towels by friendly maids, infact the whole grounds of the hotel are kept spotless. The location of the hotel is right on the shingle beach and if you sit at the pool bar you can see a magnificent sun set!! Also there are a few bars and restaurants along the coastal road but nothing with much of an atmosphere! However Rhodes Town, old and new are great and only a short taxi fare away!! We went on a boat trip to lindos bay for the day which was arranged by our travel agent which is well worth a visit. The beach is beautiful and there are lots of small streets with restaurants and traditional greek shops. You can also get a donkey ride up to the Acropolis which shows some spectacular views!! If i went back to Rhodes I would stay in Rhodes town as i feel there were more things to do during the day and in the evening. Also the beaches are better there!!
Brilliant Holiday
We stayed as a family at the Avra Beach in August 2005. It was the first time we had every been All inclusive and had booked the hotel and flights ourselves over the internet (we found it to be much cheaper). When we arrived at the airport we got a taxi no problem to the Avra Beach which was only 10 minutes away. The hotel is magnificent and we have never experienced such incredible service before. All the Hotel staff where really freindly. The hotel was spotless rooms cleaned and towels / bedding changed on a daily basis. We had rooms overlooking the pool and sea which where great. The pool and bar area was spotless and cleaned daily. The food was beautiful everyday and there was a large choice of different dishes, could'nt fault it in any way. Did'nt go on many outings as we enjoyed the surrounding of the hotel, but did visit Rhodes old town several times which is only down the road and not much in a taxi. We also spent the day in the water park in Falaraki which is worth a visit. I would definetly recommend this hotel to any one and for All inclusive we would'nt think twice about doing it again.
Very Good Holiday
We have just returned from this hotel on the whole it was very enjoyable the staff were very friendly the rooms were a little cramped in that around the bed you could not open the wardrobe fully also the very welcome fridge the air conditioning was very effient. We paid a few Euros for a safe key which is advised. The restaurant is slightly to small the tables wew close but the staff was very effient even in the busy periods always could find you a table and clear you used plates etc very quickley. The food vas very good again the staff replaced empty tins of food even the most fussy eaters could find somthing that was accptale. the hot food was always hot. The drink dispensters were always in use The coffee machine somtimes broke down which lead to queues grew quickly. the only food I found uneatable were carrots were very hard. The entertaiment was run by an amimation team mainly aimed at the children but there where outside groups which varied some better than others. our favorite was the Greek dancing team. We have had better entertainment also far worse at other hotels it was exceptable. The pool was busy a lot of air beds and ball playing etc but I manage to swim ok The beach was very stoney for a few feet then it was sandy very nice but as we had off shore wind it was choppy. Overall it was a plesent week and on the whole we enjoed it good hotel for all types of holiday people. We liked the idea that staff went around to remove towels from sunbeds at around 8 am
Fantastic Hotel
Stayed in this hotel in Setptember 05, we are a party of five adults and one infant (3yrs) we are regular visitors to the greek islands and have stayed in Rhodes once before. The Avra Beach is a well run hotel deserving its four star rating, we had a scary moment when we were informed we would have to leave the hotel four days before our flights home, due to our travel company making a booking error, the manager who is a true professional and who cares deeply about his customers did everything to make things right, in the end we stayed in the Avra until it was time to go home. The staff are very friendly work long hours but always have a smile on thier face, the maitre'de is at first quite frosty but a true professional you will need to cover up before going for meals or you will be asked to go and change, he is a very decent man and very good at his job, the food is of a very good standard plenty of choice. The rooms we stayed in are huge three of us in a large bungalow. The Avra Beach is in a great spot right on the beach and near to Rhodes town, there are lots of bars near to the hotel if you want to explore. The Avra Beach is a fantastic hotel I would reccomend it to any one wanting a perfect two week break in the sun.
fantastic hotel
we stayed at this hotel in sept 2005 for 7 nights it is the best hotel i have ever stayed in, the people are friendly, the hotel is very clean, the food is great and plenty of it. Its right on the beach and the pool is great with a little pool for children. I would stay here again at a shot in fact i am booking it again for 2007, i have been a travel agent for 11 years and this is the best holiday i have ever been on.
Enjoying Holiday
We arrived really late in the night, and the receptionist was really helpfull and friendly. We enjoyed the beautiful entrance, en were really happy with the room. The food was nice, the waiters were friendly, the animation was perfect. The hotel was perfectly situated at the sea, and it every place in the hotel was a place to relax fine, drink something, eat something, enjoy the sea, enjoy the swimming-pool. You had a view, you could enjoy every hour a day. If you wanted to go anywhere, you could order a cap for 1 € per kilometer, very, VERY cheap.... I will go there again next week because it was so nice the last time. If every hotel was the same as Avra Beach, it was hard to take a decision to stay.......
lovely place to stay
We stayed here for our silver wedding October 2004, it was our first time A/I. We were pleasantly surprised with the overall quality of the hotel. We were in one of the bungalows which were probably bit quieter than the main building. The room was gorgeous and definately 4*. The entertainment was very poor and was held outside. The food was typically A/I but a wide variety and there was always something to eat and plenty to choose from. The staff were very pleasant in all areas of the hotel. Word of warning watch the smooth stone on the bridge if wet, I managed to slip after it had been raining, also some children jumped off the bridge into the pool making it wet, an elederly person subsequently slipped (the stones alternate between smooth and rough, pick the rough ones to walk on). We took a taxi to Rhodes town which is well worth the visist, about 6 euros. A lovely relaxing holiday, would go again.
fantastic
what can i say, one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in in europe. refurbished to a high standard, lovely varied food, plenty of drinks to choose from, lovely pool and sun area, directly on to own beach and well located not far from rhodes town and the bus stops opposite. would not hesitate again
An enjoyable start to my holiday
This was the first time I had been to an All Inclusive hotel, prefering to travel around and try out different bars/restaurants, but the 3 nights I stayed at Avra Beach were excellent. The room was good and the hotel is fabulously situated right on the Beach, with an extremely well thought out swimming pool area. I enjoyed the food and the variety offered, the wine & beer were of a good standard though the local spirits are, shall we say, something of an acquired taste. I would happily stay here again.
