stayed at amersuites may 14 for 4 nights everything was great, very close to universal. Cracker Barrell directly behind the hotel. Room very nice!! We had a light out over the vanity reported it and was changed right away. we had 2 rooms, the mattress in my daughter room was unconfortable called the front desk and was moved to another king room. the staff was very nice and helpful. The only complaint as everyone was the guess(elevator) of course. but wasnt really that bad at times. breakfast was just soso. the eggs was terrible.... more

When I first heard that I was going to be staying at this hotel, I was a little uneasy. I read the reviews and I wasnt impressed. To my surprise, I loved the hotel!!! The staff was friendly and helpful when we asked for directions to a restaurant. The room was very clean, and the elevators were NOT slow. The breakfast was excellent and more then I expected, since it was free. We just returned from a trip to Orlando and stayed at the Amerisuites Universal March 27-31st 2005. I was very happy with this hotel! We received a Great rate through Valuetrips.com, $65 a night; a great deal especially during peak spring break time!! The hotel is extremly clean and the rooms are really spacious. My 10 year old daughter and I stayed at the Amerisuites Orlando Universal Hotel on February 21-23, 2005 and really enjoyed it. My daughter's first words when we entered the room were, "Whoa, this is a cool room!" The room was 2 queen bed suite and was clean. We stayed at the Amerisuites Universal from Feb 11-15. I agree that the elevator was slow but we were fortunate enough to be on the third floor so we took the steps all the time. On Sat the elevator was completely out of service so I felt bad for anyone on the upper floors. The room was very nice but small. It appeared that this was a hotel renivated into a suite. We recently stayed 4 nights at this hotel which I chose after reading reviews on tripadvisor. The elevator was s-l-o-w, but that was the only consistent complaint I read of. The room was very clean and of good size with a seperate sitting area having a couch, chair and a convenient desk. The room had every ammenity you could ask for including an in room safe for you to use. The breakfast was the best! Stayed at this hotel this past Friday and Saturday nights. Hotel staff was very courteous. I had booked a king via Hotels, but when I got there only a room with 2 doubles was available. No problem-more room for me! Room was very clean and large. There were only 2 of us, but we could have fit 6 people in that room, considering there was also a pull out couch. After reading some of the reviews here and on other boards, we were a little reluctant about this hotel, but everything turned out great! This hotel is in a very good location, (within walking distance to Universal. About 25 minutes at a moderate pace). We walked to Universal on our last day, and NYE night. It was so much better and faster than waiting for a cab back to the hotel on New Years Eve. The crowds were amazing, and it was a beautiful night, so it made for a nice stroll back to our hotel. Dates visited: December 9-14, 2004. The best feature of this hotel is the location . I would reccommend staying here if you are planning on a short weekend strictly revolving around Universal Studios. We decided to try this hotel over the many others in the general vicinity because of the offering of a fridge and microwave. Both were inadequate ( the microwave couldn't even fit a large starbucks/dunkin donuts coffee cup). We stayed at Amerisuites Universal from Nov. 25th -Dec. 2nd. Our family of 4 appreciated the clean room, helpful staff and breakfast (especially the waffle maker) very much. I wonder if the review I just read for the same dates is for the same hotel as we did not have the luxury of omlettes and the elevator was on the slow side. We were on the 2nd floor so we took advantage of the stairs. None the less you can't beat the value. The added bonus of being in walking distance to the parks makes this a great place to stay.
