Comfort Suites Hotel

Great central location to all of the parks. (In my opinion, Busch gardens is the best of the bunch and only an hour or so away.) Plenty of restaurants and groceries within walking distance. Frig and micro in rooms. Good continental breakfast. Nice pool and hot tub. The staff was friendly and helpful. This is not a really fancy place but is clean and well maintained. I can only assume that any negative feedback on this forum comes from the type of person that can't be pleased anyway. I don't think there is a whole lot that could go wrong with a hotel like this.

Great stay - almost felt like a tropical resort. The pool was gorgeous at about 85 degrees - like bath water. Wonderful hot tub, only concern was the kiddie pool. The kiddie pool was absolutely freezing, I wouldn't have put my young daughter in the chilly water and I didn't see any other kids utilizing it either. The service at the poolside cabanna bar was amazing!! Happy hour - 4 pm - 5pm - good times!!! Front desk could smile a little more and seem a bit more welcoming and informative, but overall they helped when needed. A tourist desk was located in the main lobby along with a reasonably priced souvenir shop. Housekeeping wasn't up to par - some days it seemed our room wasn't even cleaned, only the beds were made. Continental breakfast should think of expanding a bit - we were quite crowded daily, but a really good selection. I would definitely book this again!!! Rooms spacious and the microwave, fridge and safe are a welcomed bonus!!

Just back from our vacation - staff is friendly, very helpful. Continental breakfast with waffle maker. Reasonable rates. Cracker Barrel, TGI Fridays, Subway near. Shuttle service to Disney, Seaworld, and Universal. Clean pool and hot tub.

My kids loved the pool and the location was great. The continental breakfast could have been a little more appealing. They should pattern their breakfast to the Comfort Suites Maingate East. The room was great. We had a little trouble with our check in, but that should be taken care of for next year.

I typically spend 20-30% of my nights in a hotel for business and vacations. I never experienced anything like Comfort Suites maingate before. Recognizing that our hotel stay was right after Hurricane Charlie, we contacted the hotle prior to our arrival to ascertain the conditions of the hotel. We were told that they were not affected by the storm and all was in good conditions. When we checked-in, we were welcomed with wet carpeting and a mildrew smell in the room. When asked if it was possible to change rooms, we were given rooms again that were wet. Rather than spend our vacation time in the lobby of the hotel, we requested to be moved to another hotel of equivalent accomodations and value. Unfortunately, their definition of equivalent was not even close. Since we came to an impasse, we had decided to take what they had, but before we could say anything they decided to cancel our reservations. We were left to find our other hotel.

In all my travels, both professionally and personally, I have never experience such opprobrious treatment. Due to Hurricane Charley we called the hotel the day before to check on the condition of the rooms and hotel. We were assured that the rooms and hotel were in excellent conditions. However, when we arrived we found the rooms to be in deplorable conditions. The floors were wet, there was a mildew odor, and the door locks were not operating properly. Management was unwilling to address these problems. Guaranteeing the new rooms they wanted to move us to would be satisfactory, they were unsatisfactory. Maintenance reported that the carpets were wet and the rooms had a mildew odor. After speaking to the manager in charge and the general manager the only solution they came up with was a number to the Economy Lodge while gracelessly canceling our reservations without our approval. We only wanted dry rooms, without mildew odors, and with proplerly operating door locks.

Our family of six (3 adults,3children) stayed at the hotel from 8/16-8/20, Overall the experience was good. My only gripe was about the continental breakfast - The breakfast room is TOO SMALL, the waffle station is always long, no variety of food to choose from. The hotel staff was friendly, escpecially the front desk clerk from Trinidad (I forget her name). We had nothing planned on our last day and had to hang around the hotel for 4 hours. The front desk asked if the children wanted to go the pool and of course they did. We enjoyed the swimming pool until our transporation arrived. She even provided us pool towels.

We stayed at the Comfort Suites from July 18 to 24. Our party of 10 had 2 rooms which were unfortunately overlooking a new vacation home complex on the Eastern side of the property (a pool view would have been nice, but oh well). We stayed here once before in April 2001, and we loved the pool then and we still do now. It is always warm and clean and this time it was relatively uncrowded, even for the summer. The younger kids (plus one of the adults!) in our party also enjoyed looking for the small harmless lizards, which hang out around the property (but of course not in the rooms). You won't have to worry about them because they run at the sight of people! We also took advantage of the hotel's proximity to the Formosa Gardens shopping center, heading to the Winn-Dixie Marketplace grocery store periodically and also heading to restaurants for dinner at some points during the week. There are MANY places to eat around the property (all of which you can walk to!!), including Carrabba's Italian Grill, Giordano's, Subway, Outback Steakhouse, Dairy Queen, and even a brand new Cracker Barrel. Though we didn't use the transportation provided to the theme parks and major area attractions by the hotel (we used our cars), the Disney parks were about 5-10 minutes away and Universal was about 15-20. Kennedy Space Center (our last day) was about an hour away. If you want to add a little beach flavor to your Florida vacation, it is doable, as we traveled to the Anna Maria Island beach on Florida's West (Gulf) Coast on our first day, which was about an hour away. I suspect that East Coast (Atlantic) beaches are about 45 minutes to an hour away as well. Our room was clean and well-maintained, the only gripe I have is that we located ants behind the TV. (Hey, it could have been worse than ants, right?) Good housekeeping service each day- we brought our own blankets and even a pillow, and the maids respected our property. The bathroom was also clean, however, the light periodically wouldn't turn on, or it would turn on and shut right off. (Bulb probably needs replacing). We were a little upset that the TV received few channels, however, we enjoyed the free Orlando Sentinel each morning, which is distributed door-to-door in plastic bags. The free continental breakfast had something for everyone each morning, including a cool waffle maker (which wasn't there in April 2001), with which you could pour a cup of waffle batter into the machine and make your own large waffle. Other objects such as doughnuts, cereal, yogurt, bagels, toast, and of course coffee and juices were also available. Overall, good service and relatively clean and well-maintained rooms. I would recommend this hotel to a family on an Orlando vacation as some rooms can sleep up to 6 people (2 to a bed, with the couch pull-out bed), and the rooms are roomy and comfortable. Great pool!

I stayed at the Comfort Suite Maingate Resort - 7888 W Irlo Bronson Highway in Kissimmee, Florida. Here is why I rated this inn as terrible: The fold up sofa bed was infested with bed bugs. They did not change it though I requested them to do so. Unfortunately, we had white handtowels we brought there that were similar to theirs - and I left a note for the maid to tell her so. The next day - she took the towels by mistake. I asked the front desk to return our towels - guess what? They said they will look into it and on the last day the lady at the front desk conveniently said that she has no access to the lost and found section. I told her that it was not lost - that the maid took it by mistake. It all fell on deaf ears. She said she will send it to us via mail. I am waiting........... Do not ruin your vacation - stay elsewhere.

We stayed at the Maingate East on top floor (5th). Very quiet up there, although only about 1/3 occupied. We slept very well. Up early every morning. Continental breakfast was very good. Lots of choices. We ate there every morning then went to parks. Worked out great. We didn't use their transportation. Pool was nice and warm and jacuuzi was relaxing. Bar by pool was nice and they gave us a bunch of coupons for drinks. Each room has refridgerator and microwave. Only negative was an amusement park 1 block away. You have to navagate around people to get back to hotel at night. Close to everything.
