Great base!!!!!!
from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at bthe Radisson in June for the second visit to Florida. The hotel is in a great location with everything you need surrounding it. Although it wasn't as luxourious as our stay in the Wyndham Palace and Spa we thought it was well maintained and the rooms were clean. The fridge in the room was a great help for keeping breakfast and snacks, as was the laundry on the ground floor - helped get the washing done before coming home!!!!!!! As a few other reviews we found ther spa pool by the swimming pool far too hot during the day!! Also experience the pool, very warm!!!! Great coffee shop at the hotel and it is right next to a Ponderosa and other restaurants. Overall an excellent base, easy access to all attractions and quite a nice room to relax in when you get back!!
Outside corridors look bad

Stayed in the South tower of the Radisson Barcelo Hotel. The outside of the hotel needs some serious changes. It looks very bad. The room are nice and clean. Nice bathroom and shower. The room is good if you are going to be in the parks and I-Drive all day. I don't like the outside corridors safety issues. Next time I would stay inside the tower rooms.

What a shock!!! Smelly and certainly not what I'd expected , 3-4 Star I was told by the travel agent , I didn't know that it would cost an extra 33 US dollars per night to upgrade to something decent. The hotel staff were courteous helpful and friendly My advice to anyone staying at the Radisson Barcelo is to pay the extra for the hotel part .
We thought the hotel was niceand the rooms were very clean

The room was very clean and was cleaned very well each day. The pool area was nice and the people at the front desk were very friendly. I would definately recommend the hotel to my friends. There seemed to a better class of people staying there, compaired to the Days Inn. I would definately return. Keep up the good work Radisson Hotel :)
The Schizophrenic Hotel

Had many reservations about staying here after reading reviews about it in tripadvisor prior to leaving. Think i now know the reason for some of those reviews. We were given 2 room keys at check-in. One for the "Resort" area and another for the "Deluxe"area. We took about 10 seconds to decide to upgade to the deluxe part of the hotel. The resort rooms are simply 2 star run of the mill motel rooms that smell of nicotine whether their smoking rooms or not and have poor lighting. (This is where the split personality of this place kicks in.) The deluxe "tower" area cannot be critisized. Fine bright rooms with very large bathroom with microwave oven and two very comfortable queen sized beds. The staff at reception are very flexible when negotiating an upgrade cost. The hotel in general has a pleasant reception area with helpful staff. Really good swimming pool (heated) gets the sun from early morning. Location is excellent on I-Drive with the Mercado market and various shops/restaurants within easy walking distance. Free parking for guests in front of hotel. Cannot comment on the hotel food as we prefer to eat out and about. This place gets 5/5 but only for the deluxe tower area. would go back there no problem. It was better than our hotel in Fort Lauderdale which officially has one more star rating.
Good Location, safe area

There are two sides to the Radisson Barcelo, one is the very nice deluxe building ($129 midweek in May) and the tattered looking glorified motel part ($75). I actually booked a $75 room but got upgraded to a deluxe because I checked in late and (they had the rooms) and I have a Radisson rewards card, so I got a deal. I walked by some of the cheaper rooms while they were being cleaned and they looked OK, probably nicer than some cheapo place. The pool area is nice, the lobby, restaurant and coffee stand/deli, and store were all very nice. Good location for touring Orlando (we stayed before taking an early am flight). The International drive location is rather upscale compared to some of the gross areas near Disney. There is a great grocery store specifically geared towards travellers called Goodings (across the street) and many good restaurants nearby. The next time I stay there, which I will do in July, I will write another review if I am not lucky enough to get into the deluxe tower.
You couldn't pay me to stay there again

We booked two nights there April 14-15, 2004 over the internet. It was nothing like the web site. It was the first time ever I have asked to have my room changed. The first room we were given smelled like a bathroom, probably because the bathroom was horrid. The tub was black! I don't know if it was mold, stains or what but it was horrible. They did move us without a problem and the next room was marginally better, still a smelly bathroom. We simply moved to a different hotel for the rest of our vacation.
Plesent enough stay

We stayed at the Raddison for the first 2 weeks of May 2004. The hotel is in need of a repaint throughout he older part of the hotel, the rooms are cleaned very well but there are stains on the carpets and it was looking old but never the less was clean. The ammenities are good, spa and pool are nice, the best thing with this hotel is the location and the price. For what you pay it is good value and as with a Orlando holiday you are out all day and so for somewhere to sleep at night for the money it is ideal, dont expect a 4 star as is advertised in some british brochures this would definately be a 3 star.
What a disappointment!

We stayed at the Barcelo Apr. 29-May 1, 2004. The "resort" part of the hotel is a poor excuse for a Radisson. The carpet was torn, the door was cockeyed and hard to shut & lock, & the bed foundation was 2 twin box springs. The non-skid pad in the tub was shredded, the grout was dirty & a chunk was missing on the inside of the door frame. We also didn't receive a continental breakfast as advertised. The other part of the hotel looked nicer, but at $75 (which was supposed to be a reduced rate) we won't be staying there again, or recommending it. We took pictures to send in with our complaint to the corporate office. I'm sure they'll be worth more than a thousand words.
Too Noisy for Me!
from A TripAdvisor Member
While the hotel was decent and our room was nice we noticed there were black bobby pins all over the bathroom floor and some on the floor of the room. The free breakfast is very good with hot foods to choose from. My problem was the noise. The toilets are the loudest I have ever heard (think of the ones on cruise ships). The guests in the next room kept flushing theirs at all hours and I could even hear their shower. But the next night I could hear the guests in the other room talking as if they were in my room. The hotel offered to move us to another room but I didn't want to move since I wasn't the problem. They did send security to the room to quell the problem. If it hadn't been for the loud toilets and thin walls I would stay here again but I need my sleep.
For a 3 star room only basis The Radisson Barceló Hotel, situated in the International Drive area, is fantastic. Loved the friendly atmosphere the staff created. The hotel provides an airport shuttle service and you can arrange shuttle service to all parks for a small... more
