It is our 3rd year going back to the Doreta Beach hotel and we planning to go back there again next year with the rest of their family. I went with my husband and my 3 children 11. 15. 17.
The entertainment there was great, the food was top class, the entertainment people was friendly Haley, Ecko, Edy and Babo.
My son took part in Mr. Hotel and a surprise night when he had to dress up as a girl and my other son took part as well.
The hotel staff are very friendly and very helpful and the Greek people in general are very friendly.

Seriously, If you are thinking about going here and haven't already booked do not go here.
Me and my Partner arrived in Rhodes and got a taxi from the airport straight to the hotel. We decided as soon as we got in the taxi not to rent a car as the drivers over there are mental. We arrived, and the receptionist (if that’s what you call them) are extremely rude.
They checked are passports when we arrived and as you would expect they would take them off you, but they didn’t, they gave them straight back so I thought strange and put them back in my bag. Then a few days later I checked in my bag to double check the passports and tickets were still in my bag, but guess what, only the tickets were in there, I thought I was going mad but even my partner said they definitely gave them back to me.
We went out for a couple of hours sunbathing and we found a sun bed straight away which i didn’t expect after reading the other reviews.
Went down to the restaurant for our first evening meal there and I can tell you now, it was horrid, so we went over the road to a bar called Billy’s, which was the best bar in Rhodes ever. Such a friendly guy. My partner said breakfast might be ok, we'll try in the morning.
Na, same again, horrid. I went straight over to the cooked breakfast bar and turned away. The eggs looked like they had been put on the frying pan for 5 seconds then served. Bacon was streaky, cold and crispy, so I just sticked to orange juice. My partner got cereal and that was stale.
Room was adequate (not). Mold on the ceiling, splattered flies, bugs etc where on the walls, didn’t clean under the beds, looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for about 2 month. It went 3 days before they emptied the bathroom bin and ashtray. Our view was fantastic, a lovely, old, rusty fire escape, ohh and the back garden.
We went out to Rhodes town, old and new. Such a lovely placed, I wish we had booked to go there instead.
Faliraki Water park, death trap. Got a case of whiplash from the free fall slides, and headache all the way around. We went down the first slide, came off of it so we where in the air then fell back and whacked our head on the slide. When we paid to get in they charge 1euro for a locker and 5 euro as a deposit, the key did not have a band on it to put it round your ankle or anything, so that’s probably how they make there money.
After a few days of us been there we had a thunder storm, we were up in the room then decided to go downstairs to get a drink, non of the bars where open. The room that had a couple of computers in had spot lights on the ceiling and there was rain pouring though the switched on spot lights. That’s a bit dangerous especially when there's kids running around.
Entertainment at night, boring. Seriously piano man and okay, okay there’s not much you can take. Same thing every night, bingo, disco every night.
Finally, time to check out, it was a long week. Seriously if you haven’t booked yet. Don't.

Pleasantly surprised. I went with an open mind, I was not expecting 4 star (and we paid a brilliant price), but we went on holiday to see Rhodes not sit in a hotel.
we stayed in a one story apartment right on the beach and it was lovely, when the children went to bed after the children’s disco (stopped at 9.30 so no cheesy music after that!) we sat out on the balcony watching the evening go by, was very calming watching the world go by, especially with the lovely view. Nice and roomy, basic in design but we had a super king bed and lovely comfy pillows. We arrived on the 27th and it wasn’t too busy, by the second week most of the English had gone (and it was quieter lol!)
pool was kept spotless, most of the food was nice although we did go half board so ate out in a restaurant/bar at least once a day, room was cleaned and bedding etc changed nearly every day.
Beach was stony at the shore but once about waist height it was sandy (swimming at sunset was great!
Entertainment. well depends what you want, my kids loved the disco that was on from 9-9.30 but that’s all we went to, other than that well, bit rubbish to say the least, but you could go down to the pool side bar which looked nice and chilled out. Overall we were really pleased for what we paid.
I found this on med hotels and with a discount code got a great deal. I was happy, we all were. Great base, great price, food not bad (although I don’t think I would do all inc as people said it became similar.
Big apartment, wonderful views, lovely quiet resort. Wouldn’t go in high season as I dread to think about how busy it would be! End of sep, Oct was perfect.
The only thing that I can say was bad was the mosquitoes. I got bitten to death on two separate days. Invest in some spray! I will say though I was told by locals that the resorts are supposed to be fumigated to kill most of them off, but they have failed to do it this year, so they are all refusing to pay taxes until it is done next season, so hopefully this will get better.
If you can get a good deal I say definitely book was very pleased. If I had to pay book price or went expecting 4 star I wouldn’t be best impressed, if you want a luxury 4 star this isn’t the place. Good basic clean hotel.

My boyfriend and I just got back from this hotel at the weekend. After reading the reviews I was a bit dubious to say the least but decided to try and go with an open mind.
We arrived at the hotel in the early hours and went to our room which was a 'maisonette on the beach' (apparently). We went in to find a cat sitting on the bed and the most horrible set of rusty metal industrial-type stairs leading up to the sleeping area - it was just awful, made worse by the fact that when we woke up in the morning and opened the curtains there were people sunbathing about 2 feet away from our terrace. So first thing in the morning I went to reception and asked to move. The staff were very helpful and moved us to a sea view room in the main hotel which looked recently refurbished and was lovely and clean and about a million times better than the maisonette.
From then on things got much better - the food, although dodgy on a couple of occasions, was OK - you can't expect too much from an All Inclusive resort as in my experience they are all pretty much the same, but it would have been better if more of the food was labeled - I'm not keen on 'mystery meat'!
The beach was nice although quite pebbly, it was quite busy but we found if you go to the other side of the Tholos Water sports shack there is much more room and less screaming kids!
My boyfriend wasn't keen on the beer and ended up paying for Amstel all week - I wasn't too bothered but the cocktails are way too sticky and sickly to drink all night, and the wine is disgusting!
Other than that we had a great time - we tended to drink at the beach bar rather than the main bar - hearing 'Agadoo' for the 50th time in a week is a bit irritating, plus if you don't have kids it's pretty annoying when parents are letting theirs run wild at 11 o'clock at night.
I only saw one cockroach all week which bizarrely fell out of the sky onto my foot, but it was dead so can't complain!
All in all I'd say this hotel is not as bad as some people are making out - if you have stayed All Inclusive anywhere before then you will know kind of what to expect and from that point of view it's not bad at all. One tip though - don't stay in a maisonette - go for the main hotel! Oh, and if you want a laugh, go over the road to the bar with the karaoke on - the Canadian guy who runs it thinks he's a great singer but actually he's rubbish!

We stayed here during the second two weeks in September when the temperatures and the crowds were not at their peak.
Accommodation: First off, I should state that I don’t have much to compare the level of accommodation at Doreta with but I was a tad disappointed upon arrival at our room. I was expecting a bit more from a 4 star Hotel. If this rates 4 stars what must 2 be like I couldn’t help myself thinking – 1 star must be prison! That said, it did all we needed of accommodation, it was clean, tidy and regularly cleaned. However, I have seen the word “Luxury” used to describe Doreta in various literatures (not all of the hotel’s creation). Now this label I have a real issue with and here are a few reasons why:
The bath taps were mounted about an inch too far from the wall which meant a significant amount of unsightly pipe work was on show behind the chrome finished flanges that should have been flush with the wall. The tiling behind the taps looked like it had been done by a blind man! The shower pressure was often so weak it failed to create a spray and the water resorted to trailing out the head in a column, that didn’t even clear the taps. The towel rail had chipped paint for an inch of each end of its rungs which had resulted in rust settling in. Away from the bathroom we take a few steps down in to the bed area where a Radio is built into the draw of one of the bedside units. This did not work at all, but more alarmingly, the draw could be opened to expose the open wiring of the radio, possibly mains fed (I didn’t test!) and the bottom of the draw had a large hole cut in it (by hand) which the speaker could hang through. There were only two sockets in our room, one was shared by the Fridge, Telly, Hairdryer and anything else we brought (a Kettle say) while the other was situated on the first floor section of the room just outside the bathroom where it was difficult to use. If you did manage to use this socket it came away from the wall, exposing its mains wiring, when you attempted to remove a plug from it.
Food: This isn’t restaurant quality, but then you shouldn’t expect that. I thought the food at Doreta, for mass catered, pre-paid food, and was very good. I like to eat healthily if I can but can be seduced by ‘slop’. I found it easy enough to resist the slop on offer due to the amount and quality of healthy food available, my compliments to the Chef(s).
Location: Doreta is located in a pretty quiet, small town about 5 miles from the airport and is on the flight path. Yes you can read the writing on the planes but we did not find the noise levels to be annoying and were never disturbed by them. There are about a dozen supermarkets and bars which cater for virtually all needs within 100m along the road immediately outside the hotel. By the way, the roads are no better than you might expect and the drivers (and riders) are nutters, so be alert! Of the bars outside the hotel, we liked Panorama (and its associated supermarket immediately across the road), Mike’s bar and Goodfellas. The people who operate these bars/eateries are instantly likeable and offer great service, particularly the later. It would be a shame to go all that way and not try these places.
Entertainment: To be blunt, this was Butlins for under fifteens style entertainment. The same two characters perform a range of different shows throughout the week and it’s then all repeated. If you have young children and you need them entertained this is just the ticket, otherwise, rely on making your own entertainment. It has to be said though, there were plenty of adult only parties that seemed to be enjoying it on the nights we tried it, each to his own I guess.
Pool: Not really my thing pools but the pool at Doreta was attractive and seemed to be in a good condition. However, I was never aware of any lifeguards or such and although there is a sign stating the pool is depth marked, I never saw any!
Beach: Due to being on the Agian side of the Island the beach is nothing to right home about (this is in stark contrast to the beaches on the Med side). It is often windy causing choppy and unclear water. The sand is grey in colour and the terrain is not comfortable due to rocks, pebbles and unpredictable level changes.
Conclusion: If you have young children and just looking for somewhere to keep them entertained and relax then Doreta can work well for you. For those with, perhaps more sophisticated requirements, you should plan to be out and about most of the time and regard Doreta as somewhere you can get your head down and fill your belly now and then. Personally, I don’t think it offers great value for AI.

Can't believe the bad reviews. We were apprehensive at going but then spoke to a friends who had been there who really enjoyed themselves.
We are a young couple who are on a budget and the great bar tenders were a god send! They got to know us and even our tipple and we didn't even have to ask for a top up. The Beer and wine weren't very nice but the cocktails were great! The bar tenders even did some bottle flipping entertainment for us and worked very very hard to make sure everyone was having a great time. Entertainment was mostly for kids (think chicken dance) the fire eater show was good though.
The food was healthy and wholesome. They had chips and spaghetti bog. For the fussy eaters every night. One night the food wasn't brilliant but we still didn't go hungry. Fresh fruit at the dessert buffet every night as well as plenty of cooked veg and salad. They also had some kind of grilled meat every night. Lunch was the same just a bit less choice. English breakfast available every morning. Head waiter looked abrupt but that was just his look. He even joined some guests for drinks after work and tried really hard.
The fellow guests reserving the sun beds were annoying and they could have more sunbeds but we still managed to find some by the beach which incidentally was beautiful.
If you go into Rhodes centre, the bus stop was just opposite the main road and as we were one of the first to get on, always got a seat.
The dogs were sweet and didn't trouble anyone who didn't give them any attention.
Make sure you bring mozzie repellent for your room and a large beach towel to get your sunbed, find a cheap deal and you won't be disappointed! All in all more positives then negatives.

Got back from Doreta 4 or 5 days ago and I had to say what a great holiday I had with my girlfriend. The staff (apart from one on reception) were very nice, the entertainers were more entertaining to laugh at, then entertain, the rooms were basic but very, very clean and fresh every day, the pool was top drawer, the food was very, very good, sunbeds were comfy, sun was hot, weather was good!!!
I loved it! I must say though, the free beer is a little bitter, but ok for free stuff!!!

We booked this last minute and I read the reviews 2 days before we flew out and I started to really panic but once I got there I discovered a wonderful hotel and had an excellent holiday.
We arrived about 10 at night so was difficult to tell what the place was like but reception staff were very friendly and helpful, so all was great when checking in.
The room was clean and a cleaner was in every day to change bedding and towels and clean the room so was very happy at that. The air conditioning unit was very old and noisy but we got used to that after 1st night but it did the job very well so no complaints especially when the temp hit 45 degrees on 3rd day of holiday!
The reviews before this covered food and stuff so I will just add to it and say that food was great, good selection and staff couldn’t be friendlier especially the bar staff!
Entertainment was great, we loved the mini disco so much we bought the CD, would recommend it and also take part when you can as great atmosphere.
I can’t emphasise enough how good the holiday was, it is what you make it after all and maybe going with bad expectations made it better who knows.
One tip I would say is reserve a sun bed, we found going down to reserve a bed about 8 then going for breakfast was best way to do it.
Only gave hotel 9/10 as rooms could do with newer furniture and quieter air con but apart from that cant fault this hotel.

We travelled with my brother and his wife and our nephew - we took our youngest, aged 7. My brother has never had the opportunity to holiday abroad. This holiday was so disappointing for them and us...I did try to be fair and take each day as it came along, but all in all the hotel was just not up to scratch for a supposedly 4* hotel.
On our first day the restaurant manger shouted at them because we hadn’t gone down to dine with them in a party of six! (he bullied the waiting staff into tears on several occasions over the 2 week period- we complained to him and the hotel and our rep).
The food was repetitive. We eat out a lot. My husband and my brother took it in turns to try to secure us 6 sun beds and a brolly. This involved my husband getting up at 5AM and my brother taking over at 7. The first couple of days (until we cottoned on what was happening) we had no beds and no brolly. Try that in 42 degrees with 2 children! Actually saw brollies being rolled up AND TAKEN TO PEOPLES ROOMS
I reported this to the reception staff and was told "this didn’t happen in our hotel", as a chap walked by actually holding a sun brolly. Second week our daughter got a nasty ear infection. We had to have it treated - and were told this could be a result of dirty water.
Well we never saw the pool cleaned even after witnessing a young lad vomit into it from the bridge! Pool maintenance: a bucket of something was thrown into pool every morning before 7. A young boy in a neighbouring room had such severe conjunctivitis he was unable to see. His parents were told, "dirty water"
Air con was a radiator thing which rattled so loud it almost drowned out constant aeroplane noise! Our bath had four gouges out of it showing the enamel - and a thick grey stain right down the middle of the bath! Songs screamed by children’s staff (ha) commencing at 9 o’clock.
Then assorted cabaret by waiters dressed in tu tus and wearing lipstick literally pushing each other around the stage. It was mind numbingly boring and we ended up the last 11 nights of our holiday playing cards in our room and daughter watching cartoon channel. So poor, it was almost laughable.
Beware all inclusive cakes, biscuits pizzas etc. Sounds great? Spaghetti, tomato sauce, cold chips, occasionally chicken drumsticks. Salad. We were really so pleased to get home, and so disappointed too. It was just an overrated hotel with a deep unsupervised pool - forget getting anywhere near the kiddies pool unless you camp overnight.
As for the beach, we bought sand shoes to try and get into the water (just a massive expanse of stones and shingle) only to get out as quick as possible to escape jelly fish and sinister undercurrents. (Husband had 3 jelly fish stings, hand like a balloon, £75 on antibiotics, creams and iodine etc to treat it)...still waiting to hear from tour operator as we actually did officially complain. Would not reccomend it.

I read all the reviews and began to panic. I found Doreta beach to be a great all inclusive hotel. The kids were entertained the adults had a long list of cocktails to get through. The spirits had been watered down but that just stopped you from over indulging. The water used was tap water so beware.
The food catered for all I’m vegetarian and even I managed to eat well. All different types of meat, pasta, salad and fish every meal. The bar staff were very entertaining chucking ice throwing bottles reminded me of the film cocktail. The rooms were cleaned daily and clean bedding and towels.
My only problems was the tap water and the fact that we didn’t find out for 10 days but still managed to have great holiday. Remember holiday is what you make it and company u keep. Have great time.

I went to this hotel for a fortnight with my partner who is 26 and I’m 24. We arrived at the hotel at 3am and was very pleased with what we saw, marbled floors with lovely Greek decor and was welcomed with a glass of ice cold water so everything was going fine until we arrived into our room on the third floor.
Do not pay any attention to the pictures of the accommodation on the website as there are very few rooms that have been done out to that standard. I almost started crying when i saw what we had to stay in for a fortnight. the room was very, very basic and the bed sheets wasn’t clean and the air conditioning unit happened to be a dusty looking radiator shoved up the far corner of the room which leaked and ruined some of our clothes during the second week as they don’t get emptied! There was also cockroaches on our first night and over there they are huge!
During our first week we thought the food was lovely as they have different themed nights and there was something for everyone but in our second week the quality dropped badly and you could smell an awful smell coming from the kitchens everyday which turned our stomachs so we couldn’t face eating in there any longer and went 4 times to a restaurant called "mikes" which is a 2 minute walk out of the hotel and to the left and i aint kidding you the food is out of this world and the service was fantastic!
We spent every night up the poolside bar which we absolutely loved, the bar staff are very friendly and provide you with another drink before you've finished it so you always leave 2 hours after you planned to coz you can never get away! I must warn you, the sexy Greek cocktail is lethal!
I have no idea why everyone is saying you have to be up by 6am to get a sun bed, we was there during their busiest time and we didn’t get out of bed til 8:30am and we always managed to get a sun bed, but make sure you keep your towels on if you plan to return or else you will lose them!
We decided to catch the bus into Rhodes town as the bus stop is right opposite the hotel and only a few euros each which is much cheaper than a taxi. In main weeks the buses do get very crowded and no matter if you're first in line you still won’t get a seat because everyone pushes in front of you!
Warning.... If you happen to see a bunch of Africans, do not speak to them and by all means do not shake their hands! We lost a lot of money from this because they put bracelets on your arms, give some voodoo chant and then ask you for your money or you will make a sacrifice so we had no choice but to hand over our money as we was surrounded by about 10 big African women!

To be honest, after reading the reviews, it does sound bad, but I can assure you it is a wonderful hotel.
The staff were all friendly; food was always top notch, for all the family.
Pool was great. Rooms very clean and fresh. Room service awesome.
The pool bar staff were great with the kids and adults.
Entertainment was also top notch. Would return!
