We first arrived at the 4...

We first arrived at the 4 star hotel after having a flight delay to 6 oclock in the morning, so we weren't offered the drinks upon arrival. We had read many reviews of the hotel before hand and we understood that people make the holiday how they want it and not everyone would be pleased. Once arrived we were tired and it was really early. We were all given blue wrist bands to wear as proof of the all inclusive, the under 12's never had to wear them. Our rooms were on the first floor and were basic accomodation our view was poor as it looked over the roof of the ground floor and only to see the shops across the road. We later discovered that the higher the floor you stay on, the better the class of the accomodation, the 4th floor was the best it has jacuzzi and flat scren tv it also had a phone beside the toilet. instantly we made friends with many people. we first went to browse the hotel to see many signs saying no reservations as the beds will be removed, yet me and my aunty had to wake at 7 to get a row of beds by the beach. We later discovered at 6 oclock in the morning the poolside beds were already taken but was even more shocked to see the workers removing the towel and placing them beside the pool which caused many upsets between people.
We later made friends with the workers and they looked after our beds so we could get breakfast. Our food was great but as expected after the first few days it did get boring and repetetive. The workers throughout were polite and very constant, the entertainment during the day is great, many activities such as party dances, kids club, volleyball, water polo, stretching and watergym which we did take part in many of them.
yet we discovered the night time entertainment was much dissapointing as it was very amiturish and the reason being the animation team are only 17. The beach is distances from the pool as the hotel is based on the beach, the beach is shingles but once in the sea it is great and there is also some watersports available for a fee of some euro's.
The entertainers do translate everything into german, english and dutch so everybody understood well, the all inclusive food and drink is all day even the side bar serves food at night and toasties and ice cream all day. The pool is huge with a lovely waterfall yet the bad aspect is the shallow part it is merely two corners of the pool and the rest is mainly deep. the shops around are great and there is a nice australian bar up the road that shows football and has free pool for the kids and has sunday roast if the hotel food gets boring.
Overall the hotel is fantastic it has all you need it is just how you make it into a holiday the animation team are very friendly. There is a bus that goes into Rhodes town during the day and there is also a taxi service is based outside of the hotel. There is a shop based in the hotel that sells most things such as lilos and drinks and papers, sweets if you get pekish. If you have any question dont hesitate to email me

The Doreta Beach is advertised as 4...
1 / 10
Aug 2008, Mrs P A Rogers

The Doreta Beach is advertised as 4 star, personally I would not even give it 2! We stayed in a maisonette with 2 teenage boys. The accomodation was so grotty, enamel worn off bath, water only coming through 3 holes of shower head, leaky toilet (with toilet brush holder to catch water) We had A/C as advertised-unfortunately it produced terrible noise but nothing else! we begged every day for a week for a fan & eventually got one when our eldest boy had to start using his inhaler after coughing up brown dust, sadly the fan must have been borrowed from Noah but it was slightly better than nothing. I could go on but you get the general picture.
I must say that the cleaning staff, bar staff etc were very friendly & the food was as you expect on an A/I hol.
There were sunbeds for approx 2/3 of guests with quite a lot of bad feeling when they couldnt find any, those that bagged a bed were the earliest risers! Also there are only 2 bar/seating areas for night time which can only accomodate a small minority of guests,I would say that the facilities on site were woefully inadequate for the number of guests. Lastly, there was nothing free for teenagers,we have never spent so much on A/I hol,eg 3euros to buy bats for table tennis!!!

We have just returned from the Doreta...
5 / 10
Jul 2008, Mrs D Newman

We have just returned from the Doreta Beach Hotel with our three children. On arrival we were put in a masionette which was absolutely awful. It stated air conditioning but we only had a fan, the bathroom was disgusting and so was the fridge - we asked to be moved along with many other people that were complaining about their accommodation. We were moved to another masionette, very cramped but had air-con and was the best of the worst option. We looked out onto the front of the building, with mud and building materials and a hole full of cigarettes where people sit on the window sill smoking out of the room as this room had no balcony. I had a bath and leaned against the wall and the wall collapsed where it was rotten!! Could not move us as no other rooms available so had to go out for the day and evening so they could repair it! The pool area was great however but very deep, I am 5ft 2" and could only stand up in one area... the baby pool was too small for our children (7, 10 & 15). Not enough bins around so the place during the day was full of rubbish (cups, plates etc) which was not nice. The food however was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff are friendly too.
You do need a car though as it is very remote. It only takes just over half hour to get to Faliraki and just under an hour to get o Lindos. The trouble is that once you have paid to be all-inclusive (as this is an all-inclusive only hotel) you felt you should stay there but there was not enough entertainment for the children and I would say the majority of people felt the same as us. We had a car for the full week and it kept us sane!! The family bar in the evening had entertainment but some of it was not appropriate for our two younger children so we had to leave and go by the pool bar where there were pool tables etc. but all had to be paid for of course! The all inclusive drinks only stayed open until 11pm despite the bar being open til 1am after 11 you had to buy!!
We had a good holiday but would not recommend the hotel or that part of the Island to stay in.... aeroplanes flying over every few minutes too! Apparently the upper two levels of the hotel have been refurbished but the rest of the hotel is to be honest grotty! Its a shame that they let themselves down on this. Give it a few more years and hopefully all the work should be done!!

Jul 2008, Miss L Astley-Bourne

just arrived back yesterday from what i can onestly say is the best holiday i have ever been 2!! me and my boyfriend had the best 2 weeks of our lifes.
when we booked we requested a high floor room and a sea view and got them both.
floors 3 and 4 were the newer referbed rooms and were excellent we had a plasma tv and jacuzzi bath and daily maid service.
The entertainment was gud threw out the day but wasnt much to rave about at the nighttime.
The food was fantastic and could not pick fault with any of it.
The only downfall is we had 2 earthquakes and spent 2 nyts sleeping on sunbeds but tey reassured us that they only have 3 in 10 years but it didnt spoil the holiday was just an experience ive now experienced.
Aircraft noise could be heard threout the day and was loud but couldnt be heard throughout the night.
if your thinkin of booking this holiday i would recommend it to anyone it ws well worth it money and would go back again
x

we stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks...
5 / 10
Jul 2008, Miss C Coe

we stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks in june, with our two young children. i had actually stayed at this hotel around 9yrs ago with my parents myself & remember it being one of the best holidays i'd ever had. However it has definatly dropped its standards. The entertainment was a joke, all of the entertainers are barley out of there teens. We took our son to the kids club one afternoon to find one young man left with 24 children from the age of 4. The food was boring & after a week you could just about force yourself to eat it. Our room was ok but very dated. There was a lifeguard but she never sat at her post & was mainly around the bar pulling pints! The staff behind the bar & in the resturant were lovely but unfortunatly i would never go there again & would not recomend it to anyone.

I loved the Doreta Beach, first time...
10 / 10
Jul 2008, Miss N Young

I loved the Doreta Beach, first time for me in Rhodes. Yes perhaps there were a few planes but it was quiet, the kids around us had fun whilst we met up with other couples and made our holiday our own.
The food and drink was great, reliable and always seemed to be there and waiting for us. Everything was clean and tidy and the staff were attentive to our needs.
The staff were brilliant, the bar-persons were talented, whitty and professional. The entertainment was okay but plently of other things to go and do should you not wish to watch the fun and games!
Our room was basic but was clean and they changed sheets etc as promised. Lovely views and nice to over look the pool and sea, pity i cannot add a picture for you.
The greek maybe time bus leaves from outside and does not take long to get to town where there are endless boat trips which i would strongly recommend.
I would recommend going to anyone i met, i've been trying to go back myself!
Hope this helps and if you go, enjoy!

Me and my finace have been home just...
9 / 10
Jun 2008, Miss J GORRELL

Me and my finace have been home just a week but are still buzzing from what a fantastic holiday we had! After reading some varied reviws from the internet, we were slightly dubious about what we would find. Through co-op travel, we booked 1 week all inclusive from 11th june 08 for just £375 with all transfers and insurance and couldnt believe how much we got for our money at doreta.
Upon arriving at the hotel after a mere 5 mins on the coach from the airport, we found we had our room on the 3rd floor. This was a newely refurbished floor with all mod cons and a gorgeous bathroom with marble walls, jacuzzi bath and separate shower. Although our room was not sea view, we thought it was a small price to pay compared to the older, lower sea facing floors.
The rest of the hotel was lovely. The pool was so deep all over that there was only one small corner i could touch the floor and i'm a 5"7 girl! great atmosphere round the pool though with a good mix of older people, famillies and couples all from different nationalities. The two bars outside were great. We had been told that ice cream was only allowed for children, but we found at the poolbar where the food was, there was free icecream for all! great bonus!
However, i was dissapointed at the beach. Extremely shingley, it hurt my feet walking around the sand and into the sea although the sea itself was gorgeous. There were quite regular water sports going on, like banana boats and ringos but much to our disapointment, no pedlos.
While out in the day, we were concerned about the amount of aeroplane noise we might find being so close to the airport, but in all honesty, it didnt bother either of us at all. The hotel seemed like it was at the end of the runway, but the planes wernt that frequent, and it wasnt as loud as i thought it might be.
The food generally at the hotel was typical of what you would expect from an all inclusive. I didnt expect the finest cuisine as we hadnt paid extortunate prices, but it was lovely non the less. We found that there would be different themed nights for the food, like italian night where there was tonnes of pasta along side the usual array of food.
Having scouted out daytime at the hotel, having a wander around Tholos as resort made us realise why it was all inclusive. there was literally nothing there. Theres a good minimart over the road (better than the hotel shop) with all sorts in, and one or two bars, but thats about it. If you want some where to explore, dont expect much. However, saying that, a bus ride into Rhodes town for 2 cos 4Euro40 and only took about 20 minutes. There is well worth visiting and making a day of as the old town is absolutely brilliant for shopping aswel as being extremely pretty, and the new town which is full of the newer designery shops with the odd few british favourites like marks and spencers. There you can book boat trips to lindos, turkey and other places.
We also visited Valley of the Butterflies by taxi from the hotel early one morning which was ever so pretty although there wernt many butterflies for some reason. nice walk tho in the valley up the mountains and didnt cost that much. think it was 12Euro each journey in the taxi and then 5Euro admission when you get there.
At night, the all inclusive drinks at doreta finished at 11, so me and my fiance being the students we are, took full advantage upto the 11 o clock point and then wandered over to the kareoke bar opposite. absolutely brilliant for a laugh and the cocktails are fab. dont get there too late tho as the kareoke has to end at 12.30. waiters are really friendly and up for a giggle so its well worth going.
all in all, we had a fantastic holiday for the price we payed, and will no doubt be looking back in years to come as the best holiday either of us have ever been on. If you're going here, try and get your room on the third floor, its well worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you are thinking of staying here...
1 / 10
Jun 2008, Mrs C Dillon

If you are thinking of staying here DO NOT DO IT. After 3 days we had to get out of the place. It is like a concentration camp. Small bedrooms, very dirty, staff never smile, free for all at the food. German food is the menu, childrens food is chicken nuggets minius the chicken (i could not work out what it was), Wine is only good for cleaning tables, beer gives you a bad stomach, toilets are never cleaned. If you need toliets rolls for your room you have to ask for them. They are building another two levels on the complex. There are not enough sunbeds at present and they are all tatty. The entertainment consists of the hotel reps dressing up. The swings and slide play area have no swings. The kids club the girls have no idea who they have and my kids came back several times and they did not know they had gone. Snack bar is the same food every day. If you go for two weeks its a bit of a deja vu the same thing happens. Hire a car from Pegasus and get out there. Dundees Bar (Nick and Kath) is a safe haven, food is great and they love kids(turn right out of the hotel and stay on the right)

firstly i would like to say to all...
9 / 10
May 2008, Miss V Cosgrove

firstly i would like to say to all those people looking at doreta beach as a possible holiday definately go for it!
after reading some of the bad reviews i have to say that those people must have ridiculously high expectations the doreta beach holtel is such a warm and invitin place the staff are helpfull and most entertaining. after visiting late last year with my parents daughter and best friend we couldnt stop raving about the holiday so much in fact that this year we are returning with an addition of four others the hotel rooms where basic but definately adequate for all our needs.
the food yes we did have one night when it was slightly cold but at our own fault at being late and arriving just in time for dinner. apart from that one occation i have nothing bad to say about the hotel what so ever
the beach is adorable and the hotel staff are fantastic with things for children and adults alike to do mojority of the day. and the evening entertainment is wonderfull. as a person who previously did not entertain the all inclusive option as i like variation and to be able to wander to new restauraunts every day i have to say i was pleasently surprised and as i have said am returning this year with added guests.
so once again all those considering this hotel i would say definately and im sure you will have a wonderfull time.
