Absolutley fab hotel, but floor three or four is a must they are great!
pool and food fab, staff really friendly and rooms spotless.
Dont take notice of bad reviews,it looks as though the maisonettes are a bit shabby
especially from the outside, but top two floors are great especially sea view rooms!
We travelled with our two children in august and it was perfect.
will be back i hope.

just got back from the worst holiday ever said 5 * would only give it 2* same food every day got fed up with chips every meal. one couple with a baby told no cot girl on reception told then to put baby on the floor to sleep .
no entertainment for adults
no spar but it was down as a spar hotel
sea got contaminated by a paint factory but it took them a long time to put notice up to say keep out of the sea
then we had no water to shower or drink they sorted out drinks
but no water to shower .
so all in all not good please think again before you book
if you go into rhodes town its really nice but watch round harbour people putting string bands round your wrist and then rip you off grab you money and wont give you it back
to you
- Advice: village is small
- Activities: rhodes town was lovely but watch out for people round harbour with bands they put round your wrist

just returned from rhodes which in my opinion is a beautiful place for a holiday, just a pity about the doreta beach hotel, this according to you travels website is a 5star hotel that blow your mind when you see it,yes it certainly did but more like a 2star ghetto, half the hotel is renovated to 4star and half is still 2 star, they put everyone in the 2 star annex so you will hopefully pay a 150 euros a wk to upgrade to the better rooms, which we obviously did you just couldnt stay in those rooms with kids, the food in the hotel was fish, pork and veil evey lunch-time and dinner evey day, they hotel is in the middle of no-where and the description on the hotels website is for the hotel along the street, example it says childrens buffet-nope gym and spa -nope show cooking- nope childrens waterslide-nope all these things are in the german hotel along the road.the only good thing about this hotel was the entertainment girl they worked there socks of to keep the kids and adults amused and entertained all day,my advice is to avoid this hotel like the plague

I have been now to the doreta 12 times and i have to say its not as good as it used to be.
however thats not to say i didnt enjoy it because i did, i think the only thing that let it down was the entertainment, they have the kiddies dico from 9 untill 10 an i think thats a bit late my 3 year old loved it though! it is the same few songs everynight could do with a bit of variation. the adult entertainment was on after and i cant believe how bored i was in my oppinion once you had seen 1 show you had bassically seen them all def not how it used to be in the days of rob an co. On the up side the hotel itself is really clean an the pool and gardens are great. the pool is cleaned daily and there is always plenty of sunbeds. the main pool is very deep only 1 corner that i could stand in. Its not really suitable for people that are not strong swimmers but there is a lovely kids pool.
The rooms are basic on the 1st and second floor was told that those floors were to be done up over the winter. i did have a look at 3rd and 4th floor rooms and are lovely but i was happy with 2nd floor, its got a bed and a bathroom what else to you need really? it does have a fridge that was great to keep water cool an it did have a tv so what if its not a flat screen? how much time do you spend in your rooms on hol? The rooms were also cleaned an bedding, towels ect was changed everyday.
the restaurant was great always plenty of choice however if you are a fussy eater then you will probably find it repetitive as my sister did who lived for 2 weeks on chips!! I think the only problem with the main restaurant was the fact if you didnt get there earlier then the food was sometimes cold also someone else mentioned that people dont know how to que this was a problem especially if you are young well im 23 and found myself constantly being pushed to the back! but not the hotels fault just ignorant people.
The main bar besides the entertainment was nice and relaxed the bar staff were great really nice and friendly as were the staff at the pool bar and even do some glass throwing that was really entertaining.
i know that the hotel was due to be finnished renervations over the winter but that is not the case, i am going again this year well actually in 12 days and have recieved a letter this morning saying that renervations are still going on and noise maybe heard. Im really looking forward to going its not coming quick enough really, i will do another review on my return from my 13th visit to doreta!!!

Just back from a 2 week holiday at the Doreta! Overall had a fab time, went with my boyfriend. We were on the second floor, not as nice as the third and fourth floor I believe but was just what you needed, clean, air con, bedding changed everyday etc, besides how much time do you really spend in your room on holiday anyway? A fifth floor was being built during our stay but we never heard any noise or distruption!
The food was great and the main restaurant was lovely, the restaurant manager was very nice and helpful, showing u to your table etc! They had theme nights which were Greek night (kebabs etc), Italian night (pasta, lasagne was amazing!) and fish night ( would def reccommend the mussells, yummy). The only problem I had with the restaurant area was the other guests who have no idea what a que is, getting a coffee from the tea and coffee machine and getting a drink from the juice machine was an absolute nighmare, people with no manners cutting in. Also these people seemd to do it even more as we were young! But this was not the hotels fault of course!! If you didnt want to go to the restaurant their was always the snack bar which was also nice, salad stuff was also available there so was a nice break away from chips which was served there too. Toasties were also available from thre from 12:30 pm, the snack bar was open from 10 am til 11pm.
The pool area was lovely and clean, gets cleaned every morning and night ! Tennis courts, basketball courts, volleyball area and mini golf available during the day too!
The entertainment was ok! During the day it was good, getting people involved in pool games, volleyball and water polo etc! Night time entertainment was alright, the kids club from 9 til 10 was awful, same songs and dances every single night, dullfest! 10 til 11 was the main show, not the greatest but was ok!! Laura and Desmond were great, but Danny is a cocky so an so and Abbie could do with a stick of dynamite up her arse!!! The bar staff in the main bar and the pooll bar were great guys, watching them doing there tricks while making cocktails was great to watch and they really easy to get along with!
Overall this holiday was great and I would definately go back!!

If you expect to be entertained as an adult at this resort, think again... absolutley terrible. An insult to our intellegence as adults, ran by the childrens animacion team, it was a sham. No atmosphere in the main bar, no music nothing until mini disco, which was the same every night, 5 or 6 songs exactly the same and in the same order. After one week of that, mind numbing. By the second week my husband and i couldnt face going in, we either went to the bar opposite and spent a fortune or just went to bed, absolutley ruined the holiday for us. Older couples retiring to their rooms at 10pm, or sitting in the snack bar area drinking their wine and beer, playing cards is not a good advert for entertainment. Instead of looking forward to our evenings like we usually do on holiday, we dreaded them. This hotel needs desperately to spend some money on entertaining guests, but as another holiday maker who i spoke to stated "why should they, youve already paid, theyre not bothered if you go to bed , it saves on their alcohol bill". Room was ok, cant say more really, however i bet the people who rate this hotel as 9 and 10's were on the 3rd floor or above... we had the opportunity to view these rooms and it was like being in another hotel, jacuzzi bath, separate glass cased shower cubicle and flat screen tv, beautiful. we on the other hand had an outdated shabby room on the 1st floor (second is the same), with old noisy air con (which ran constantly onto the balcony making it unusable, until we did our own DIY on it), the tv had no on/off button and had to be switched on by a tail come. Food was good and the restaurant manager was a really nice man. The pools and gardens are beautiful and the weather ... glorious... All in all should have been a fantastic holiday, we paid enough for it.

Me and my family had an unexpectedly wonderful time at the Doreta Beach. After reading some of the reviews on various sites I was expecting a hell hole.
I arrived to find the reception staff extremely helpful and friendly. The room was absolutly spotless and the entertainment was ok too.
I seriously think some people look for things to whine about.
The food was great and as for people complaining about the bacon not being like ours, may I remind them they are in another country and if you miss our bacon that much stay in a b&b in Blackpool. Anyway, who eats a full english every morning?????
Some folk were bored and had nothing to do. I guess the massive pool and childrens pool along with the play areas, entertainment team on from 10am till 5pm and not forgetting the beach a stones throw away were just not enough.
I will admit there was not a lot in the actual resort but for families it is ideal as you can walk around the bars and restaurants without the worry of lager louts when your children are with you.
I would definately recommend the Doreta to anyone and hope to go back next year. However, I heard it's going to be upgraded to a 5* so prices may be a bit steep.
I would like to say thanks for a great holiday Doreta.

This site shows that it is a 3 Star, it is in fact a Greek 4 Star and more to the point, from next year it will be a Greek 5 Star as they are refurbishing the whole Hotel and from the work already undertaken, it'll be worth another visit! It's looking really good already and they say all the major work will be complete before next season and I believe them, so much so that I'm thinking of booking again I'm that confident.
Anyway, the review...
The Hotel is really nice and the front of the building as you enter does it no justice as when you walk into the reception area you know you are not going to be disappointed.
The Reception Staff were very helpful and there were always more than 3 available so queues were never seen, even when new arrivals came in, the queue was very quick to shrink.
The room we were in was a Family Room which slept 5, 3 single beds and a King Size Double which was nice to see. Plenty of wardrobe space to get your things away and a fantastic Sea View which was great to wake up to in the morning. The room we were in had not yet had the refurb and I was still very happy with it. I've been to other Greek Islands and been knocked back by how basic they can be, it was not the case here, the white wash concreate walls were clean, the bathroom was very clean and as far as we gathered from other guests, all rooms have a full size bath with Shower over the top.
The beds were made everyday and the bedding replaced every couple of days, only the top sheet stayed with you the duration of the stay. Towels are changed EVERY DAY! and all very clean well presented. The only thing the room we had lacked was a shaver point in the bathroom which found a little odd but I imagine this will be addressed with makeover.
The thing that took some getting used to was the Air Conditioning. They are more like a little storage heater which blows cold but after the first 3 days of being there and getting used to the 38 degree heat it cools the room very well on an evening when you need it the most. (There is always a welcome breeze on the west coast and believe me, you need it but it's not too intense once you get over the shock steping off the Plane)
A Point to note is that as part of the refurb all this is being replaced/upgraded so I think it will be far better next season. The room key had a large brass keyring attached which you inserted into a slot as you entered the room to give the room electricity but any old card did the job and the staff didnt mind you leaving them in all day long as long as the lights were turned off, this allowed the Air Con to be on all the time and kept the room nice and cool when you returned.
There were 3 Lifts for all 5 floors and they were never not available, again, very clean and well maintained. Stairs were also available and as we were on the first floor, you could climb those quick than the lift. I imagine any other floors will use the lifts more so.
The Food Hall was really nice but as always with the All Inclusive arrangment, busy and a little cluttered but you always found a way though and you didnt feel you were walking to another part of the Hotel just to get a drink. It was a Buffet Style arrangment and there were two places with the same food to avoid huge queues. This again may change with the refurb as it was mentioned by the staff that it MAY change to a waiter service from next year but still all inclusive. (Dont take my word on this, only what was mentioned in conversation)
Breakfast times catered for all, with local versions of Cereals, Alpen and dried fruits, you had the choice of a Continental Breakfast and the Full English was always available though Fried Eggs were only on certain days, other days were Omlets and Scrambled but all really nice. Real Toast was also available with "Real" sliced bread as well as local breads and rolls etc.. the Breakfast is served from 7:00am which is great if you planned a day trip away and wanted your fill before leaving.
The food was excelent and I cannot believe that anyone would struggle to find anything to eat. You'd have to be VERY picky about what you ate to starve here! The Lamb and Veil were to die for as were the Turkey and Chicken. Veggie options were always available also, you didnt have to ask as I have known in other All Inclusives. There were Themed nights for food like a Greek Night, Fish Night and a typical Sunday Roast Night including really nice Yorkshire Puds, though not on Sunday :-)
The Kids were well catered for also if you have picky eaters there was a section "Just for Kids" which had the usual Fish Fingers, Chicken Nuggets, Chips, Burgers etc.. but we didnt tell ours and they just went off and picked what they wanted from the normal section. Suprising what they will eat when they can see it and pick it themselves :-)
The Staff were very friendly, spoke a little english and always had a real smile on their faces which helped to feel relaxed. They were always clearing your table as you finished a course and keeping your tables clutter free but not hovering over you waiting until you finished, only in passing.
High Chairs were always available for little ones and were very clean and in good condition. All UK spec too, no tall wobbly wood things here! all good stable chairs.
The Pools (Main pool and toddlers paddling pool) were very well kept and although the details state it is Salt Water it is not infact regular chlorinated water. It was all very clean and nothing we was was not working. The Pool is slightly heated but by 13:00 it's warm anyway. The Pool opens at 9:00 and closes at 18:00 which fit well with food times. A Life Guard was on watch during these times all the time also. A flag indicated if there was or not. There were plenty of Sun Beds and the Staff insist that they are not reserved to the point that if you come down too early and drop your towels on them, they were removed and placed on a table to collect later but I have to say in you wanted to be sure to get around the Pool Area, you had to be down for about 7:45am and stay with them until Breakfast was over. There is also a snack bar which opened from 10:00 serving "Late Breakfast" if you fancied a sleep in. Food is available all day here and closes at 11:00pm
All nice foods, build your own Greek Salad or fill on Souvlaki (Local Pork Kebab, not spicy) chips, curries etc.. and Toasties were availble from 12:30pm. Drinks were always available and Icecream was available from 11:30am
The Bar was always well stocked and the local versions of spirits were just as good as the brands we know. The Lager was good too, not the cheap gassy rubbish I've had to endure before. Branded bottles were available if you just had to have them but you paid for these. They were still cheap though if you just had to have them.
The Beach is literally a 5 second walk from the main Pools and sunbeds are available here too though you get your own as they are stacked on an evening. This was better than the pre-set out arrangements you see elsewhere because you could pick the ight spot for you. The Beach is nice and sandy but as you get to the water it becomes very pebbly and quite soft so I'd recommend getting some beach/swim shoes if you plan venturing into the Sea. The Sea was very warm, warmer than the main pool actually and very salty so ideal for snorkling etc.. as you just float. it did tend to get a little windy on the beach but again, very welcome and never too much to annoy.
There was a kids club if they fancied a break from us parents and they were all well looked after. There was even a really good park with hugh climbing frames and swings etc.. all very new and well looked after. No concreate to land on either.
All in all I have to say its been one of the best All Inclusive Hotels I've been to and as mentioned early in the review, I'm seriously thinking of going again next year I enjoyed it that much. The Staff were so helpful and if you had any questions, they were always able to help. The only 1 thing I would like to make you aware of is you are quite close to the Airport, literally 15 minutes drive so if you are a very light sleeper you may not get much sleep and this Airport does not sleep at all though as we all said, after the first couple of nights, you forgot they were there and they actually gave you something else to look at other than Sun, Sea, Swimming Pools and Food :-)
For a day or 2 out I'd recommend taking the local bus to Rhodos Town. The Bus Stop is directly over the road from the Hotel and runs every 20 - 30 minutes. It only cost €2.50 each and takes about 40 minutes but even the local Bus's are Air Conditioned so this is nothing to worry about. the Old Town is worth a look but is quite expensive compaired to the New Town. (Both towns are the same place but whrn you get off the bus at the terminus, you go left across the road for the Old Town or stick around whre you are for the New Town)
So to finish off off I would say that I'd highly recommend anyone to try Doreta Beach Hotel and more so if you have kids, Kids are so well catered for but still ideal for young couples or people who just want to get a tan and enjoy the weather.

After reading a few of the reviews on this hotel we were a bit down hearted to say the least but we knew we had to make out own minds up and not listen to others. I am so glad that we did go.
What a fantasic time we had at the Doretta Beach Hotel, the rooms were cleaned every day with clean towel daily and clean bedding 5 times a week the hotel reception staff were polite and helpful when needed. The food in the restaurant was faultless there would alway be something on the menu you would eat or would like to try, the waitresses worked extremely hard and the restaraunt manager was a star sorting out a birthday cake for my 6 year old and making a fuss getting the staff around our table singing happy birthday (making her day) the pool was spotlessly clean having attendants cleaning it every morning even though it was deep it was clearly signed to show the depth, the bar staff at the pool were great even when the children would ask for drinks the snack bar area was clean and tidy and food alway warm and edable, the main room bar was again clean and very polite bar staff.
With regard to the sun beds you would get to the pool and beds were covered with towels but if you were not with them before 8 the pool staff would take the towels off the beds and let you have them as they had a no reservation policy on the beds which was fab but as you make friends around the pool everyone would hold a bed for you if you helped them.
The only thing I can say on the down side is the nightly entertainment but as we had a small child we were not really interested in it but what we did see was not our cup of tea apart from the Greek night with the greek dancers brought in. And you can always make your own entertainment.
It was situated in a great area we were 10 mins from the airport and even though we were on the flight path you forgot about the planes you could not hear them when your doors were shut at night anyway. If you were thinking of doing trips it worked out cheaper to get a taxi from outside the hotel and then pay to go into your destination rather than your rep. All the taxi's had aircon so even though you were walking around it was nice to get into the cool .
I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL AND CANNOT WAIT TO GO BACK IN THE FUTURE.

We were a family of 11 my son & myself arrived first at 2.30am and were given keys to 3rd floor room which was great all new and posh the rest of the family arrived 3 hours later and were told no room untill 2pm that day after a few words it was sorted quite quick this was not the fault of the hotel but the tour operator they were given first floor which was such and difference to 3rd and above it was so old and dark and shabby looking but the rooms were spotless and clean throughout so the family were quite happy with their rooms. The hotel as it goes is nice the ground are good and plenty the pools are great but the lifeguard should be sacked he is the worst I have ever seen and if I had young children I would have kicked up a fuss he sat there every day back from the pool with his Ipod in his ears reading a book and when his girlfriend arrived he even tried to take one of our sunbeds which we had to get up at 6.30am every morning to get for her and told us we could not reserve beds we soon sent him packing he then proceeded to take another bed and put a towel on it for when she arrived for her free food and drink each day and then while on duty he would pop of for a swim in the sea and a smooch with his bird he even had his friends round one day drinking all day playing music kids dancing on the bar and this is while he was on duty. We and many others put complaints in but he was still there when we left.
The hotel has run out of money and the bar staff and reception staff have not been paid this season so the moods of some of the staff were not so great the reception staff had a smile all day and always willing to help the bar staff in the main hall also great the girls at the pool bar also great but the men at the pool bar at night some quite rude and offhand and seemed to begrudge you being there on holiday and enjoying yourself the others were ok.
We found the food to be very good plenty to choose from and plenty of it.
The evening entertainment is another thing altogether it is so bad it is comical the kids have and dance and scream for 1/2hour at 9pm then they put a show on if you can call it that it is made worse by the hall having no aircon as the hotel can not afford to put it on so every one just leaves. the team needs to get together and sort them selfs out and put something good together or find a job they are good at.
There is nothing for teenagers to do at night so they all went to a great little bar/niteclub across the road called Mambos it was great fun happy hour on the cocktails great music and friendly people if it were not there the the teenagers would have pulled there hair out with boredom. The internet was very expensive but across the road were two restaurants which both had internet alot cheaper.
We as a family had a great holiday it was a great laugh and none of the negtive things bothered us and we just made the most of it and enjoyed every moment and meet some great new friends and would even go back again just for the crack of it.
My advice go there with open minds and tell yourself every holiday is what you make it and make the most of it.
