Great holiday destination, best ever, already booked to go back next year (although we are staying at a different hotel this time!).
This hotel was typical 5 star quality with lovely pools and surroundings, but the restaurants within the hotel were a little too pricey, i.e. $50 for a steak!!

Dont trust the bad reviews!! Great
from A TripAdvisor Member
The bad reviews made me scared too. Stayed Aug 26- Sept. 3. Clean rooms, maid didnt leave enough towels but anything that we asked for was quickly brought up. Nice place to stay. There was not one wrong thing with the hotel. Just the bus stop area was always further than the Disney Hotels. If you go to Blizzard Beach find out where they pick you up. They dropped us off at the spot where they dont pick up. We had to take a taxi..You are the first one to be picked up though.
Beautiful place! We LOVED it!

I was concerned after reading some reviews but we decided to stay here anyway because of the proximity to downtown Disney. there were 3 families, 3 rooms, and we all LOVED this hotel. I don't know if other people are way too picky or if we just got lucky. We thought the grounds were beautiful. We had suite rooms on the Recreation Island that were HUGE. We had plenty of fluffy towels (but there is a pool concierge by the pool with pool towels and fresh fruit daily!). The gift shop was beautiful, there is a great market and cafe on the property with anything you could possibly want. Room service was great and we felt like royalty. Of course a bit pricey on items but you are in Disney! This is by far the closest hotel to Downtown Disney and it is soooo convenient. It was very very clean also. Would highly recommend this hotel and we are making it an annual event!
We liked it!

We stayed at the Wyndam for two nights at the end of August 2003. I got a webrate before I read the reviews and got realy scared by some people's bad experiences. My husband and I enjoyed our room. We were at the end of a hall, so noise was minimal. We had two balconies, and a huge shower and clean bathroom. The bed was clean and comfortable, as was the room. The lobby was elegant and I felt rich staying there. Unfortunately, you did have to be rich if you wanted to use their web tv or eat at their restaurants or use the spa since everything was costly. But the fitness room was free and great: clean and new, working equipment, and no one was there, we had it to ourselves. We had no complaints about the room, so if you've booked it, don't worry about it! One bit of advice, check in early if you can. We went by the desk in the evening a few times and it was backed up with weary travelers.
Nice but to loud

This was our first time staying at the Wyndham and it is a very nice place. The rooms were very nice and clean but the only thing wrong with the rooms is that you can hear everything, people shutting the doors all times of the day and night which sounded like bomb going off and you could hear the people in the next room talking like they were in your room. I dont know if I will stay here again, if I do I will bring my ear plugs. Check in was a little slow but the staff was very friendly.
Way above average

Got a great rate. The room was very nice furnished, up-to-date, and quite roomy with a couch as additional seating. The bedding was much nicer than the usual flimsy industrial hotel blanket. While the bathroom wasn't anything special, the shower was very good with good pressure unlike most hotels I have stayed at. The in-room cable/satellite tv channel selection was quite expansive especially for a hotel. The facilities outside the room are also very nice - with a little market open from dawn to almost midnight, several restaurants to choose from, three pools, and an upscale fitness center and spa which you can use even if you don't get a spa treatment (the nominal daily resort fee gives this access). Speaking of the spa, they have a large variety of treatments, reasonably priced for a hotel spa including pre-natal. Small nitpick: the self-parking is far from the hotel and lobby. I want to really commend the general manager and staff, when my wife and I left an item in the room when we checked out they were quite responsive, found the item and shipped it to back to us. Let me put it this way, while in Orlando, it rained both days from 2p to about 8p and we didn't mind being stuck in our hotel room. After staying at numerous LBV hotels, I would put this on my short list of ones that I would stay at again.
Do Not Stay Here!!!

This hotel was one of the worst I have ever stayed in - and I have been all over the World. It looked impressive from the outside, but the staff were rude, unhelpful and sarcastic. Guest Services were anything but! One of the ladies on duty was so rude, that I just coulnd't believe what I was hearing! The pool area was diabolical with only 4 umbrellas for the whole area and no other shade whatsoever - in around 95 degrees of heat. My poor husband is very pale and struggled like mad to stop himself burning - which meant either staying in the hotel room or going out. We tried to have a rest in-between visiting the parks, but was unable to due to the lack of shade at the hotel. 2 conferences took place whilst we were there - one of which was Energy 2003 (a massive conference). The hotel guests were "2nd best" as the conference guests took priority when it came to dealing with them at the reception desk or parking. The latter was a nightmare during the conferences as my husband could not get a car parking space for love nor money! When he eventually did get one, it was at the back of the car park, a long way from the hotel entrance - which also meant getting very wet almost every time we went out, as the weather was so bad in August. The hotel rooms were quite small and had very little storage space (3 drawers and no shelves). Our T.V. "on command" did not work, and we were told nothing could be done about it. Also the beds were never made properly, the bins not cleaned out every day and there was a distinct lack of towels - despite us complaining almost every day. Our bath mat also kept disappearing which meant a dangerous bathroom when coming out of the shower - I slipped on a number of occasions. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone, you are much better staying in a Disney Hotel or a Villa - the prices at the Wyndham are just not worth it!!!
Comfortable hotel
from Karen_Wickham
We stayed here for 7 nights, August 2003. Having previously stayed in a Disney hotel, we found this superior. It is ideally situated, being just across the road from Downtown Disney. It has all the amenities you could want, with a guest laundry which we found invaluable. The rooms were clean as was the pool area. The staff were efficient and friendly. The lobby area is smart and comfortable. The view across the Disney parks from the top floor bar is incredible, giving a chance to see the fireworks in comfort. The only thing we found lacking was the transportation to the parks. This was somewhat erratic. We heard several people complaining that they had waited over an hour for a bus to one of the parks, even though they're supposed to go every 15 to 20 minutes. We also experienced a long wait on leaving Magic Kingdom with two very tired children at the end of the evening. Also, the Magic Kingdom bus doesn't actually take you to Magic Kingdom, but to the transportation centre, from where you get the monorail or ferry to the park itself, which can make for a long and tortuous journey, especially with children in tow. However, given that the transportation is free to guests, you can't complain too much. If you don't like it, drive !
Nice stay

My husband and I stayed at the Wyndham Palace August 10th -15th for our honeymoon. We had an absolute wonderful time on our honeymoon, and I think we would have had a blast no matter where we stayed. When we first arrived to the hotel, we were surprised by how nice the lobby was. Everything was very clean and very pretty. All of the staff were so friendly. One thing we were astonished about is that the hotel does not offer shuttle service to and from the airport. They offer town-car taxi service, but it runs around $50 each way. (We ended up using Maingate Transportation for the airport trip, and it only ran around $34 each way.) The rooms were average, nothing extraordinary, but they were clean and nice. The view from the balcony was great...we could see Downtown Disney from our balcony each night. Another great aspect of the hotel was that Downtown Disney was directly across the street...and the hotel offers FREE shuttle to any Disney park. There is a small cafe/mini market downstairs in the hotel, and all of the staff there was extremely nice. They all went out of their way to help us. However, there was one lady at the Customer Service, I think her name was Marsha, and she was very rude...not pleasant at all. Overall, though, the hotel was nice. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give it a 7 or 8. The airport shuttle service, or lack of, is poor; some of the Customer Service reps could use a lesson or two in courtesy; and the food at the restaurants is WAY TOO overpriced; however, the location is great, the pools are nice, the free shuttles to Disney are wonderful, and the room were okay. Would I stay there again, maybe....but I would probably try a different hotel next time.
Wyndham went down hill!
from MaureenOB
We stayed here in april and loved it! What a difference a few months make. Unclean, poorly maintained room. Curtain was filthy dirty with large brown stains, electrical outlet uncovered and not working (unsafe), door to room remained filthy (some small child had smeared something on it) --I guess the housekeeping staff did not consider it their job to keep the common area and doors clean. Management was indifferent to problems. Worst of all was no running wwater on upper floors overnight due to a PLANNED AND SCHEDULED repair. They did not warn us ahead of time. Terrible to come back to your room and have no running water or working toilet overnight. Self parking was a joke, as parking area is so far from the entrance I considered it an unsafe walk at night. Valet parking was wonderful but expensive $11.00 a day plus tips. We checked out early and will never return.
DO NOT STAY HERE

My husband and I stayed at the Wyndham Palace from August 1-4. It was one of the worst hotels with regards to service that we have ever experienced. Upon arrival, the bed was full of hair, it had obviously not been changed from previous renters...we called for it to be changed and 4 phone calls and EIGHT HOURS LATER it was still not done. For three days, we were never left towels after housekeeping and had to make THREE OR FOUR phone calls each time to get towels. The shower was full of mold and the place smelled very musty. The $8.00 a day resort fee was ridiculous considering that the pool concierge was never open and the pool was small and scummy. All phone calls (with a calling card, to an 800 number) cost $1.00 plus 30 cents a minute after 10 minutes, ridiculous for a hotel of such poor quality. If we return to Disney, we will only stay at a Disney Resort, as they are consistently worth the money. Forget the Wyndham Palace, it sucks.

Upon looking to get married abroad, we decided on Florida, upon deciding on Florida we then decided on the Wyndham. As the hotel was to be the venue for the biggest day of our lives, we were quite nervous about what to expect. Upon arrival we found the hotel and its grounds... more
