This was our first visit to Turkey, driven by cost more than desire it has to be said. Icmeler seemed to be the place most recomended as it was quiet but with easy access to Marmaris by 'dolmush' buses which run every 15 minutes. I have to say that we were all very... more

Apartments need to be refurbished
Just returned from a week at the Babadan. The apartments are in a great location but need to be refurbished. On arrival we found that the toilet door would not close, an uncomfortable bed and a lack of storage space. We were on the top floor with a slopping roof and constantly were banging our heads on the ceiling. There was no toilet paper, missing pillow cases, a leaking fridge and the room needed a good clean. A further problem was being woken up every morning at about 5am by the cockerels. The pool area was nice with two good pools and great views of the mountains. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The apartments are close to some very good restuarants and we would recommend the Wayside and the Chef. One of the highlights of the holiday was visiting the turkish baths in Marmaris. We also got some great buys from the market. A couple of tips. Puchase your Turkish Lira in the resort. The exchange rate was much better than back at home. Also don't buy any food at the airport as it is very expensive.
Favorite place in Turkey
Visited 6-13th of October 2008 This is a lovely old fishing port, only quarter the size of nearby Marmaris, but much nicer. The weather was still in the high 20s. We stayed at the Babadan Apartments, which were very clean, the staff were so friendly, they couldn't do enough for you. I would recommend a day trip to Rhodes, you can leave form Marmaris, the old town is really beautiful, but not wheelchair friendly, it has very narrow streets with cobbled stones and quite steep. A good value for money day out is a day trip around the coastline on a Gulet, they are docked along the seafront (i recommend "Gentleman's Boat in Ishlemer ) this trip is usually about 7-8 hours long and includes lunch (boats that say they include all drinks free - lie) it stops off in about 5 sports were you can swim & snorkel (bring your own snorkel gear) and the scenery if beautiful. A great way to top up your tan, a lazy day out, usually about £10 per person. Lots of water sport to do, but can be pricey, fine shingle beach, water is very salty. Lots of restaurants to choose from, but the staff do hassel you for trade as you walk by and this can become tiresome. Good nightlife but not to crazy, would suit all ages, this time of year has a lot of more mature visitors. Really enjoyed my visit, we were a party which included grandpartents, parents & teenagers, something for everyone.
Babadan Apartments in Icmeler
We have just returned from a family holiday in Icmeler in August. We were a party of 9 so practically all grouped in one block (4 apartments). The apartments all have their own balcony and our block was away from the noisy main pool area thankfully. The apartments were clean and very basic. Unfortunately we were at the top so due to the roof space we were somewhat cramped for standing height in the shower we had to duck down. The flip side was the lovely view of the mountains behind above the opposite apartment blocks. I wasn't happy about the wardrobe with broken doors which wouldn't open. We had to have the doors removed to use it. One day in to our holiday and three of the fridges out of our four apartments stopped working. The staff were very quick to replace them however. My main gripe was the extra charge of £3 a day for the air con and with temperatures in the 40's to nearly 50 we desperately needed it to sleep. They also charge extra for a safety deposit box. Light sleepers like me will probably wake to the sound of the Cockeral next door competing with a few more in Icmeler.. I enjoyed watching the chickens from my balcony over breakfast as they far more enteraining than anything we paid to see. The worst experience for us was that 5 of woke each day with a mystery rash which we noticed worsened after each bed change (twice a week and needed with the heat) We washed the sheets ourselves in an attempt to quel the itching but Icmeler does have a phamacy we found very helpful and the cream helped. Overall not a nice holiday but the Babadan kitchen and restaurant is very clean and the young lads working there are so nice and helpful. Good sized pools however one is quieter than the other and away from the bar which we preffered for the shade and quiet. I wouldn't go back but have to say the others in our party had better apartments than us but sadly not the view.
Great apartments and location
Our group of 5 stayed at the Babadan apartments in May and had a fabulous holiday there. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, friendly and considerate (especially Serkan - the manager of the poolside bar) and the apartments and communal areas were kept spotlessly clean. The location was a bonus too with many restaurants and bars within easy walking distance. We'll definitely be returning to Icmeler and the Babadan apartments next year!
A great find
We have just returned from 11 nights at the Babadan Apartments. The apartments were lovely and clean (cleaner came in every day and changed towels several times). The kitchen area was well equipped with kettle, microwave, 2 ring hob and plenty of utensils. We were on the top floor (which we had requested), where the rooms are actually located in the attic area. You have to be careful in the bedroom because of the sloping roof and you can only see from the balcony is you are standing as it is enclosed - nice and cosy in the evening - but apart from that the room appeared to be exactly the same as the others below. The only thing about the room was the lack of storage, we were with friends with a teenager and he ended up living out of his suitcase. We created more room by moving some of the utensils into other drawers to free some more space up so we had just about enough room. There are two pools which are about the same size but slightly varying depths. The front pool tends to get a bit busier as it warms up quicker because its in the sun all day. We tended to use the back pool as it was quieter - just beginning to get busier at apartments now and expected to stay the same through to September. All the pool areas were spotless and continuously kept tidy. They use a cashless system at the apartments so you go to reception pass over your Lira or Sterling and they will present you with a card which you had over to pay for everything. They always give you a receipt with a running total so you know where you stand. The 24hr shop was a great little shop with all the basics. Prices are competitive so no need to go shopping around and wasting precious sunbathing time. The pool bar was open pretty much until the last person went to bed - nearly saw sunrise one morning. There are TV's in there and they do play quite a lot of sport but there are enough tables so that you don't have to be watching it. The restaurant food was fabulous. You will get asked most days if you are going to eat at the restaurant in the evening as you have to walk via reception which is right next to the restaurant to leave the apartments. It is all done in good humour and the guys in the restaurant are great. The resort itself is very flat and easy to get around. You could probably walk the whole resort at a saunter in about an hour. It is definitely a resort to enjoy your food. We were told that there is only one actual bar that does not serve food. The food in all the restaurants was amazing, never had one bad meal and if you have already eaten and just fancy a drink that 's not a problem they will give you a warm welcome and make sure you are looked after. Could name a few but shan't as there were lots of restaurants and they all seem to be of the same quality and prices only vary about a couple of quid. If you enjoy a drink on your balcony then we would suggest that you buy any spirits as duty free in UK or on the plane as we found spirits to be quite expensive to buy in the shops. There are trips that you can take and a water taxi over to Marmaris but we were very lazy and just enjoyed the sun. We would definitely go back again and maybe explore a bit further afield once we are there.
Would love to go back next year
Got back a week ago from a 2 wk stay at the Babadan Apts,i have to say it was fantastic in every way!!!! Tthe staff were second to none (Especially GARIB ) It was a pleasure to see him every day,all of the other staff are equally as super but he just stood out from the rest,We stayed there for the last 2 wks in Aug.The rooms were the best equipped i have seen in turkey, and also spotless.the apts are situated ideally to be just enough away from the hustle and bustle, but close enough to walk into town in 5 mins,i'd stay there again in a heartbeat.
something for everyone
we have just returned from 2 weeks at the Babadan apartments in Icmeler. These apartments are clean, average in size and in an excellent location. Just off the main shops/restaurant/bars area and in a quiet position. Two good pools. We used the second pool which was quieter than the front pool. Sunbeds were not a problem but in August the heat was. Towels out early to get the beds in the shade!!! The staff were extremely polite and helpful. The restaurant was ok for lunchtime snacks and although i did not use it at night reports were good We took our two teenage sons 17/15 and although there is a Kids club it was not overladen with young ones. They found enough in Icmeler to keep them entertained, so no 'Kevins' while we were away! These apartments and this resort has something for everyone so i would recommend both for a sun/beach holiday for any age group.
Great family holiday, so friendly.
We've just returned from a great family holiday in the Babadan appartments (me, partner, 14 & 3 year old girls). I was expecting a small dated room from the reviews I'd read and yes it was slightly but was immaculately clean (cleaned every day!) had absolutely stunning views, we overlooked the back pool and was really peaceful. The kitchen facilities were excellent. We could not hear any noise from anywhere at night. Icmeler has so much to see and do its a fantastic place and I would thoroughly recommend the Babadan. It is really close to the centre but away from all the noise. The 2 pools are both excellent and clean as is the whole complex. The staff can't do enough for you and the kids club is fantastic. There is a small play park for young children but it was rarely used as the equipment got so hot in the sun. The locals love children and my 3 year old was showered with free gifts wherever we went, sweets, ice-creams, jewellry and even clothes!! Food is really cheap in both the resort and at the Babadan with plenty of choice both local and English if you want it. The Turkish night on a Saturday is certainly worth a visit but be prepared to dance!! All in all a brilliant place.
Honest Review
My husband and I finally booked a trip to Turkey after so many people told us to go there! The Babadan rooms were spotless, lots of equipment in the kitchen, also a nice living area. The pools were brilliant, although not heated, so were rather chilly first thing in the morning and early evening. I love to swim so didn't bother me.... but not so good for the kids. Food we had there was all ok. Also fig and lemon trees, which were lovely. While we were there a lot of us were sick, a child was taken to hospital. No cause was found, lots of guests (us included) lost a couple of days to sickness. The resort its self is very geared up for the English tourist, lots of English food. A shame really as almost becoming a Blackpool in Turkey! Still have to say we enjoyed our holiday, fantastic weather and some very friendly locals. The Loveboat was one of our favourite restaurants, also had some fantastic sea bass cooked in salt at 'Purple Rain' on the harbour in Marmaris. Would we go back? Probably to Turkey, but not to Icemeler. I'm sorry to say that this is turning into a resort for cheap holidays, where brits still want to be in Britain! (sorry if i've offended anyone) You just need to know you won't be seeing the 'real' Turkey!
loved it fantastic
