Just got back from Amazones Villas Apartments which are situated in the quieter end of Stalis, and highly recommend for families and couples, but maybe not for groups of young people looking for noisy nightlife right on their doorstep. Dimitris and Natasha, who have 2 charming little boys, run the place, they are so friendly and cannot do enough for you, every day they ask if everything is ok. There is a lovely clean pool with plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas, also tables and chairs with sunshades. Snacks and drinks are available all day, reasonable prices too, in a relaxing tree shaded square next to the reception where there is internet access, safe boxes and a nice book swop. As for the apartments, these have 1 & 2 bedroom, ours had a nice sea view, and some overlooked the nice gardens. Each has 2 or 4 cooking rings, microwave, toaster, kettle, plenty of pots and pans for self catering. They are spacious, spotlessly clean and well fitted out, I can honestly say that by Greek standards they are among the best we have stayed in and are planning to return soon. There are a couple of nice tavernas within say 100 yards, also mini markets for odds and ends, the sandy beach is about 5 – 10 minutes pleasant walk (flat for anyone with walking difficulties, or in a wheelchair) along the palm tree lined beach road and the bus stop is about 10 minutes walk. The apartments are situated in a nice quiet area, being within walking distance of the main nightlife area, but “out of earshot” so to speak. In the main area (10 minutes easy walk) is the usual shopping complete with a couple of butchers and a super fruit and veg market for anyone wanting to self-cater. There is also a good bakery for the must have cheese pies, and plenty of giro-pitta takeaways for people who aren’t watching their weight (yummy). Other eating places include Greek dancing and plate smashing if that’s what you like. Here’s the link for anyone who wants it. . http://www.amazonesclub.com Thanks for a great holiday guys, see you soon

we would like to thank you for making our holiday special, as you made us truly welcome. we had a very warm welcoming stay. Thanks to Damitris, Jamie and Alex for making us feel like one big family. We will certainly be returning to Amazones Villas as it was peaceful, friendly and clean. We found it very central to all amenities.

We've just returned from a week at Amazones Villas and agree completely with all these positive reviews, the apartments are spacious and clean with maid service every day, the location is perfect, just a few steps from the beach and tavernas and very quiet at night. We loved the pool and there were always available sunbeds. Jamie the barman is a great laugh, made us feel really welcome from the moment we arrived, but beware the Raki!!! Ha Ha! Mishu the bar man at the pool bar cooks a mean full English and was always ready for a laugh. The staff are so friendly and helpful we couldn't fault anything! Simon the holiday rep gave us some great advice, it's well worth attending the welcome meeting with him even if you don't want to book any trips , his advice on transport was invaluable. One tip that you must take note of - pack the mossie repellant - you will need it! Still, it;s a small price to pay for being surrounded with such lovely gardens, fruit trees everywhere - even bananas! Many thanks to Dimitri and Natasha for such a great holiday, wish it could have been longer and we'll see you all next year!

Probably the best accommodation we have had in all the years that we've been to Greece as far as ammenities are concerned. We had a very large fridge, a four ring cooker, a toaster, a kettle etc and everything was clean and fresh. The bar facilities were very good and the pool bar was also very good. The staff were on hand from early hours of the morning till at least three o'clock the next morning.
The apartments were quiet and although there was music playing in the bar all night, because the bar was not attached to the apartments the music could not be heard, therefore you were guaranteed a good nights sleep.
The staff were very friendly and did everything possible to make the holiday a good one. Marion, you are a wonderful hostess, really loved our conversations over a latte in the shade. Jamie, you are a really nice lad who made us all feel welcome and comfortable. Marianne, I just wanted to take you home with me as you tried so hard to keep everyone happy, your a darling. Dimitri and Natasha are a very lovely couple who are expecting their first child. I hope all goes well for you both. Dimitri's mum (sorry can't spell your name) she was a lovely lady also and will give you the time of day if you bother to sit and talk to her.
The pool is well kept and clean and tidy. The food from the pool bar is excellent. When you sit under the shaded area to eat your food the breeze is very welcoming. Try the cheeseburger, probably one of the tastiest ever.
The Mastirali restaurant which is on the beach road only a few steps away from the apartments, they serve the best breakfast in Stalis. You really have to go there between 11 and 1 o'clock as they have twin boys who frequent the restaurant at this time, their names are Alexandra and Matthew, they are the cutest boys ever. They bring you the menu and do all sorts of tricks for you. They are delightful, the owners are Billy and Selena they too are very nice please try it here as you won't be disappointed.
There is a bar just outside the apartments called the Diamond Cocktail Bar, please try this bar as not only are the cocktails the best but the staff take some beating too. Arainia and Gerom are wonderful people and will make any cocktail you ask for.
We had two weeks here and in the two weeks we managed to go to the both water parks, Aqua Plus and Water City. They are both excellent and entertaining. If you are staying for two weeks try to go to the both as you will have a lot of fun. We visited Ag Nik again and it is just as beatiful as ever. We also went to Hersonnosis again and found that it has changed, it is not a very nice place to visit, the front is a total rip off and seems to be more expensive to eat there than Stalis.

On arrival we met owner/manager dimitri who was very friendly, we had corresponded by e mail and had asked for a high floor with a view of the sea which we got. The apartment looked as though it had recently been refurbished ie given a good coat of paint, plenty of storage space in the bedrooms, maid service was a bit hit and miss and you have to buy your own toilet rolls. Safety deposit boxes were 25 euros for 2 weeks. All the staff were very friendly. Bar has 2 happy hours between 5-6 and 10-11pm where the drinks were slightly reduced in price. The sun loungers cost 1 euro each per day, it became apparent on the 2nd day there that there was not enough sunbeds for these apartments. There were towels laid out on them before 8.30 with no-one on them so we struggled for sunbeds. We found out in the 2nd week that neighbouring apartments with no pool could use ours as long as they paid the 1 euro per sunbed. Food in the pool snackbar was reasonabley priced 3.25 euro,s for a full english with tea or coffee. You cannot take your own food/drink round by the pool which is salt water by the way. Pool has a happy hour 12-1300 amstel 2 euros a pint. beware the operate a tab system and tried to charge us for sunbeds and drinks we had already paid for, I always paidnup front as I had been caught out before.
One point about the apartments is that the have wooden louvre doors which are in need of repacing as they were quite difficult to close. Altough we did have a sea view the room which we had No 201 was adjacent to the owner and his dog Mia which constantley howled / barked during the 2 weeks that we were there even local apartment owners complained about it.
The apartments are about a 15 - 20 minute walk from the centre of stalis, there was building work along the majority of this road until you came to the start of the bars, it is very dimly lit on a night and there were 2 bag snatches along this road in the first week supposedly by albanians riding scooters so beware.
beers prices around 3 euros a pint for amstel but half pints were 2.5 euros a big rip off, so get a pint and ask for a half glass. shorts were 3-4 euros alcopops 4-4.5euros
We ate at several places, tried the Romantic corner twice but not very good both times. Marias,s on the front was excellant so was el greco's and baywatch (got 10% off in baywatch so went back several times) was good food and plentiful. tried a place called hovolis near quad bike place food was full of fat and not very nice.
Bars we drank in, Malibu is a must, shorts and cocktails were 3.3 Euros and very strong - we nearly always ended up there at the end of the night, young lad called Ross looks after the bar on the night - very friendly. Also drank in the Rovers Return, diamond bar just opposite the romantic corner - amstel 2.5 euros a large bottle, Slantes(Irish Bar) and the internet cafe on the corner - all good bars. Also half and hours walk from apartments are 2 swing bars you need to try these out and also the rose and crown a couples of minutes walk, food very good here had an excellant sunday roast
Walked into Hersonosis and Malia both a hours walk from the apartments although you can catch the bus for 1.2 euros. Got stung in the beachcomer bar on the beach in malis 8euros for 2 large shandies.
The beach is very nice and a few of the bars were offering free sunbeds.
On the downside you were constantly pestered by the restaurants to get you in.
Had a good breakfast on last day in robin hood bar 4.50 euros with tea/coffee and fresh orange juice, they also do a pick and mix breakfast.
place was full of quad bikes and scooters so beware when walking along beach road
All in all the prices in the resort were very high expecially if you drank alcopops, bud, magners these were very expensive compared to england. The supermarket prices were also very expensive approx 14 euros for litre bottles of spirits cigarettes approx £23-28 for 200

Just returned from Amazone Apartments in Stalis. Had a fab holiday. The apartment was 2 bedroomed and good sized, basic but clean and with everything you could need. We used the air con, definitely a must but be aware there is only one unit in the lounge area so you need to be able to open the bedroom doors to cool all through. The owners and staff are all very welcoming-Hallo to Lucas and Benjamin :) and I felt if we had had any issues (which we didnt) they would all have been very helpful. The pool area was very clean and well looked after and the food was good at the pool bar and there was a good choice of chilled drinks. We walked to the beach, 5 mins and the sea was lovely and warm and clear. We ate a few nights at Romantic Corner which is just a few metres from the apartment and the owner was so welcoming. The setting was perfect, right on the waters edge and there was a great choice of menu. We also ate at Ella's Bar just a bit further up in Stalis, turn right heading away from the apartments about 10 mins walk. Lovely food and setting and really friendly and welcoming staff. We hired a car from Euro Star just up from the apartments and went to Spinalonga and Knossos, really worthwhile. Would love to go back again some time soon!

Been to Stalis a good few times now but this was by far one of the best holidays we've ever had.
Accomodation was excellent, clean, spacious, staff very friendly ,pool lovely just a pity we're unable to get in there this year as it's booked up when we wanted to go but we will deffo be staying here again.
Very close to the beach and a short walk to some fabulous restaurants our favourites being,Marias golden beach,9 Muses and Cretan corner although it has to be said that there are plenty of great eating places in Stalis and i can't say that i have ever been left dissappointed.

Just got back early hours this morning from the Amazones Villas and wanted to write this review straight away (whilst pricing up next years holiday to the same apartments).
Absolutely loved this holiday. It was our first time to Crete and it was absolutely fantastic.
The staff at Amazones were wonderful and really made you feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Lee was brilliant and made you feel at ease and would always come and sit down for a chat, Marianne was also very lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Dimitris was very welcoming (best cheeseburgers in Crete) and the boys loved the dog Mia, a beautiful Weimaraner, who was always poolside (and would sneakily put her head on the table when you had food to grab a quick bite whilst Dimitris back was turned).
The apartments were really clean and were cleaned every day except weekends. We had a two bed roomed apartment with a view of the sea but I think we were the only apartment with a sea view. Stalis is a great resort. Lots to do, you can have a relaxing quiet holiday, or walk down the Stalis strip for a livelier night.
There are loads of shops, restaurants, tavernas etc. We loved the bar right at the bottom of the strip, nearer Malia end, which had hammocks for seating. The cocktails here were great and the barmen really friendly. After a night out hitting the many tavernas we would enjoy a chocolate crepe, situated next to Mary's Place Bar. The man here made the kids laugh with his dramatics whilst cooking the crepes.
Everywhere we went we found friendly people. Weather was great for end of September, had a few cloudy days but weather was still hot and the sea was warm.
We did hire quad bikes, even though we've heard some bad things. You do have to be careful where you hire them from and some do look really old and not sure if they’re roadworthy, but there are many reputable places so for the extra money it’s better to be safe than sorry. You do have to be careful but if you drive slowly and safely it’s a great way to get around.
We went to Malia, Agios Nickolaos, Knossos and Heraklion on ours and had a lovely time.
Will definitely go back to Crete again, and wouldn’t stay anywhere else than Amazones Villas.

Apartments are really clean - all you need is there. If you need an iron - ask Lee!
The staff were amazing and friendly - my friends and I had an amazing time!
Lee never lets you sit by yourself and we met so many new lovely people because of that.
Maz is wicked and Dimitri sings like an Angel.
He also makes the best bacon and egg sandwich ever!
Stalis is great for nights out and eating, but try Hersonossis too - that’s amazing.
I definitely would make a return trip to Amazones Apts and could not fault a thing.
The best holiday ever.

The apartment was excellent, large, comfy beds, well stocked kitchen (good size too), great air con (no extra costs!) and cleaned everyday. Complimentary water and wine in apartment on arrival as well.
The pool was clean and there was plenty of sunbeds, with a very nice bar and eating area.
Breakfast was basic but very fresh, there isn't a time restriction (we ate breakfast at 12 0'clock one day).
The location is fantastic, about a 5 minute walk from the main strip, so you are guaranteed a good nights sleep. The beach gets very busy so get there early if you expect a sunbed!
Everyone who works at the apartments are very friendly and always willing to help and give information about the accomidation and local area.
Thankyou to everyone for making our trip extra enjoyable.
